Crime-based Safe House starring Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington has quite the stiff competition opposite Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens‘ soaring saga Journey 2: Mysterious Island, and Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams‘ tearjerker The Vow. Who will win in the box office?

Washington and Reynolds will have movie-goers across the country on the edge of their seats with the premiere of Safe House. The premise is Reynolds, playing a young CIA trainee, is sent to watch over a safe house. Washington, a CIA veteran, returns out of hiding with some incriminating intel, which sends both joining forces and hitting the bricks together.

On the flip side, we have Journey 2: The Mysterious Island–which is the follow up to 2008′s Journey to the Center of the Earth. The adventure saga stars hunky Josh Hutcherson (Sean Anderson) and Vanessa Hudgens on a journey to find Sean’s grandfather on a mystical island.

Hutcherson, 19, is also preparing for another big release on March 23, Hunger Games–in which he plays swarthy Peeta Mellark. He and Hudgens, 23, recently hit the Journey 2 premiere red carpet. Check out those stunning galleries below:

Also up just in time for Valentine’s Day is Nicolas Sparks‘ latest chick flick The Vow. The description reads: “A car accident puts Paige (McAdams) in a coma, and when she wakes up with severe memory loss, her husband Leo (Tatum) works to win her heart again.”

Jennifer Lopez, Denzel Washington and Mario Lopez all hit the street on Tuesday for a shoot to support the Boys & Girls Club — a charity that played a huge part in Denzel’s youth and led to his success.

It was a star-studded shoot all around, including appearances from Ne-Yo, Ashanti, NBA stars Magic Johnson and Shaquille O’Neal and a handful of other A-listers who were throwing their support behind the charity.

The Tony Award nominations were announced today, and with the recent wave of film stars taking their turn on the Broadway stage, it is no wonder that the nominations list is full of names that are perhaps more recognizable to people who aren’t avid theater-goers.

The Star Trek star—recently rumored to have been dating Hills brunette Audrina Patridge—is in negotiations to star alongside Denzel Washington in the upcoming thriller Unstoppable, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In the movie, Washington will play a train engineer who’s about to be laid off due to cutbacks. Pine is in talks to play his replacement, who helps Washington try to stop an unmanned freight train carrying a potentially disastrous load of combustible liquids and poisonous gas.

The film is being produced by Tony Scott (The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Tristan + Isolde).

Contact Music reports that Cruise, 46, and Washington, 54, have signed on to co-star in the big-screen adaptation of Robert Ludlum‘s 1975 novel The Matarese Circle, about two rival spies who join forces to take on the evil Matarese organization.

Ludlum—who wrote the books that the Matt Damon-starring Bourne film trilogy was based on—was inspired to write the conspiratorial plot by rumors about the Trilateral Commission.

The new flick will be released by MGM, with David Cronenberg (A History of Violence) directing.

The studio brass are already anticipating big things for the project; they’ve optioned Ludlum’s follow-up book, The Matarese Countdown, for a sequel, with an eye toward creating a franchise for Cruise and Washington.

Warm-weather hotties like Hilary Duff, Mario Lopez and Molly Sims are contractually obligated to keep those tushies, biceps and pecs firm, lest a role call for an impromptu bikini scene.

Not so lucky: Eva Longoria, whose cheers for her hubby, Spurs point guard Tony Parker, failed to put San Antonio over the top. Maybe he was distracted by all that cleavage he knows so well.
