Freida Pinto and Dev Patel, who have been dating since meeting on set of Slumdog Millionaire a couple years ago, were seen landing at the Toronto airport to attend this year’s Toronto Film Festival. The two were all smiles, and even looked a little matchy-matchy in dark jackets.

It looks like Dev has gotten himself a new gig!

Deadline is reporting that HBO has picked up a new series created by The Social Network screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. The untitled project will be about ”a cable news anchor (Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), his newsroom staff (Alison Pill, John Gallagher Jr, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, Thomas Sadoski), and their boss (Sam Waterston).”

No word on when it will start airing, but it’s expected to have about a 10 episode order.

As we all know, the two met on the set of their film Slumdog Millionaire where they played an onscreen couple. Then, as sometimes happens in Hollywood, the two’s love transcended into real life. Now, they’ve both moved on in their careers but their romance is still going strong!

Freida has been in NYC promoting her new movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes. 

She appeared on The View Friday along with her costar James Franco, but it was her white dress and show-stopping blue shoes that she wore on the TODAY show that earned her a spot in the Love the Look gallery! Check out the pics below!

Interview Magazine’s August cover model is a breath of fresh air in her featured article. In a revealing interview, she opens up about her love with Dev Patel, saying they really are “soul mates.”

The actress also tells the magazine about her culture, career, and explains how she believes she is impacting change through her movie roles.  

“The best way to describe it is that there are people who are trying to make a difference in a very civil manner, not just by picking up a gun,” she says. “I felt that if I became part of this film (Miral) and I gave it my all, that’s exactly what I would be doing. I can’t join the army, I’m not a politician, but through my film I could talk about it. I knew the film was not going to be accepted too well, but I did it hoping that somewhere in the future it would be referred to as one of those films that started the conversation.”

Because Freida wants to leave impressions with her films, she admits she is choosey with her role selections.  

“I think the reason why I haven’t done a film in India so far is because I haven’t found a script that’s completely gotten my attention and made me passionate to get it made,” she explains. “I keep saying I’m not at all famous in my own country, because people do not think I have done anything for India. The reason why I’m doing these things outside my country, bit by bit, is to be able to come back to India equipped with the knowledge and understanding of how to hopefully produce my own films one fine day.”

The Indian beauty wants to make her country proud, but admits she has faced numerous obstacles when it comes to her authenticity. Freida says she has been rejected for roles for not looking Indian enough – but the actress can get away with portraying different nationalities.

“I’m not saying I look Arab or I look Spanish or anything, but I could if I wanted to,” she says. 

Identifying with her own culture was easier when their was a shoulder to lean on. Luckily for Freida she found comfort with her co-star Dev, who has been in her boyfriend since their outbreak role in Slumdog Millionaire.

“I don’t think anybody – not even family or friends – can understand what the two of us have been through,” she says. “As beautiful as it is, there are parts of it that just become a bit tiring to deal with. The paparazzi, for example, and not having privacy. He made a statement unknowingly once and he said, ‘Oh, she is like my soul mate,’ and we were not dating or anything back then, and it became this big hoopla. Like, ‘Oh my god! How could he have said that? What does that mean?’ But I guess he was right in a way; we are soul mates.”

The Last Airbender star suited up for a recent photo shoot with GQ. It looks like Dev has come a long way from Slumdog Millionaire, or maybe he just knows how to wear a suit properly.

Dev is currently dating the beautiful Freida Pinto, whom he met on the set of Slumdog Millionaire. Seeing him all cleaned up, we can understand why Freida is so smitten with him.

The two have adamantly denied that they’re an item in the past, and speculation ramped up to a fever pitch after Patel and Pinto were photographed enjoying an intimate meal in Israel recently.

And now OK! Magazine reports that Dev’s mother, Anita Patel, is outing them as lovebirds.

“Freida is really beautiful and I am really happy for them,” Anita says, adding, “Yes, we knew he was flying to Israel to see her.”

According to one witness who was present at their romantic meal, “They looked very happy together and they didn’t seem to care who saw them. Dev couldn’t take his eyes off her and she couldn’t help cuddling up to him. They kept staring into each other’s eyes. They were certainly acting like a couple, despite what they have both said. When they left the bar they split up and tried to act like they weren’t together.”

Well, there you have it; another show-biz relationship mystery solved.

Now on to the bigger mystery: Why would any guy deny that he’s dating Freida Pinto?

Are they dating in real life?

The stars’ palpable chemistry on the silver screen has led to rumors that it flowed off-screen as well.

Freida’s ex-fiance Rohan Antao seems to think so. He blames the movie for ending his engagement to the beautiful starlet.

The answer?

“No, no, no!” Patel told E!

You would think the gorgeous Pinto has cooties or something. Pinto must have felt that way about his answer, too.

“Like I said, the little boy in the film – he’s a kid…,” she explained. Guess she likes them older?

This is despite their co-star Anil Kapoor claiming differently.

When prodded by Ryan Seacrest, and in front of Dev and Freida, Anil stopped short of calling them a couple but did accuse them of having “chemistry” before the three gave a shout-out to India for the cameras.

Freida also denied that she’s been pursued by any other male celebrities, cheekily telling Seacrest that she had been “waiting for you to call me up.” Seacrest responded by asking her what time the show ended.

Slumdog is nominated for ten awards tonight, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Danny Boyle‘s romance flick—which is set against the backdrop of an all-or-nothing Indian game show—won him Best Director at the DGAs, beating out the auteurs behind Milk, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Dark Knight.

Most of whom Boyle will face at the Oscars on February 22 in the Best Director category. Slumdog is nominated in ten categories.

Yahoo! reports that there have only been six times in Oscar history since 1948 when the DGA winner for Best Director hasn’t gone on to Oscar gold. However, three of those instances have occurred since 1995. Keep your fingers crossed, Dan.

Of course, even if Slumdog should fail to win big at the Oscars, Boyle and company have already done pretty well for themselves. The film has won several awards, including four Golden Globes, five Critics’ Circle Awards, and a National Board of Review award.

The Office, The Wire, Recount and America’s Next Top Model took home awards for television direction.
