The country music legend recently joked with reporters about being Miley’s “fairy godmother” when the two performed together at Dollywood in Tennessee.

Dolly has known Miley since the “Can’t Be Tamed Singer” was born: Dolly befriended Miley’s dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, when he shot to fame with his country-pop hit “Achy Breaky Heart” in the ’90s. Since then, Dolly has been a real role model for Miley. Billy recently revealed their relationship in an interview:

It’s great that she has someone like Dolly to idolize, someone to look up to. Having that type of influence in her life, it’s so amazing and so special.

We have to admit, if there was one woman we would want to be our fairy godmother, it would have to be Dolly.

For her new single “Waking Up In Vegas,” Perry hit the gambling town to shoot a clip with a gaggle of lookalikes, chief among them “Britney Spears.”

Derrick Barry, a top Vegas Britney impersonator, was tapped to portray the blonde songstress in a Last Supper scenario.

“She’s the nicest girl,” Barry tells Celebuzz, who was asked to run through Spears’ “Slave 4 U” choreography over Perry’s track, positioned behind an opulent banquet table where Perry sat with Tina Turner, Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire impersonators.

While those divas certainly serve a purpose, Barry was the only one Perry got really starstruck over.

“Katy asked for a photo with me [in costume],” says Barry, “and even signed a copy of her CD for me. She wrote, ‘You’re Toxic. Love, Katy Perry.’”

And while the two never got down to discussing the singer herself, hope isn’t lost yet. Barry indicated that Katy had a behind-the-scenes crew in tow documenting her every move. Perhaps Perry will gush over Britney in a DVD extra coming soon.

“I really thought I was done singin’,” Simpson, whose country album, Do You Know, is set for release September 9, confesses. “I’d lost a lot of confidence and I didn’t even know who I was.

“But Dolly totally took me under her wing and helped me up and over the cares of the world…I do owe a lot of my confidence to her.”

Given the reaction that Simpson’s revamped music career has received so far, country fans might start burning Dolly in effigy. But they can’t really blame her—being sweet is just in Parton’s nature.

And with the spirit of Dolly running through her, Simpson will no doubt never botch a song again. Oh, wait. Nevermind…

The 1980 movie 9 to 5 is coming to the stage in musical form this fall. Dolly Parton—who played the lead in the film—was on hand as the play’s cast members met the public at the New 42nd Street Studios in New York.

This time out, Allison Janney (The West Wing), Megan Hilty and Stephanie J. Block will play three oppressed office workers who scheme to overthrow their “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot” boss.

Dolly couldn’t help but stop by and lend her star power. She’s sweet that way. Also, she wrote the new songs for the show. So she has that going for her.
