 While many celebs are simply posting their planking shenanigans on Twitter or Facebook, Rosario has taken her planks to national television. She lied down on not one, but two late night talk shows. While promoting her film Zookeeper, the actress laid herself across Jimmy Kimmel‘s desk.

“I worked with Angelina Jolie 13 years ago, before she was famous, and Mara reminded me of the same thing,” Samuel Bayer, who directed Rooney in A Nightmare on Elm Street, told the New York Daily News.

The 25-year-old beauty landed the coveted role of Lisbeth Salander in the Hollywood adaptation of the Stieg Larsson best-seller, beating out reported contenders like Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Ellen Page. David Fincher is set to direct.

Miguel Arteta, who directed Mara in last year’s comedy Youth in Revolt, seconds Bayer’s adoration, telling the Daily News: “I had no doubt that she’d become a movie star… I was just happy to get her for a small role on the way up.”

Rooney will also appear in the so-called “Facebook movie,” The Social Network.

Her impending superstardom from the Tattoo role will surely be an adjustment for Mara, but being a high-profile figure seems to run in her blood. Rooney’s grandfather, the late Wellington Mara, founded and owned the New York Giants. Her sister, Kate, is also an actress who has appeared in Brokeback Mountain and the TV show Entourage.

Sony Pictures has issued a December 21, 2011, release date for Dragon Tattoo, and a short list of potential actresses for the lead role is rumored to be circulating. Unfortunately, while K-Stew was reported to be in contention for the part, her name is apparently no longer included in the mix. 

Based on the 2009 Swedish hit (which, in turn, was based on the first book of author Stieg Larsson‘s Millennium Trilogy), Dragon Tattoo has become the source of rabid casting speculation, with everyone from Stewart to Natalie Portman to Carey Mulligan said to be in contention for the part of Salander. Though Mulligan has now confirmed that she won’t be pursuing the part, other actresses currently said to be in the running include Ellen Page, Alice in Wonderland lead Mia Wasikowska, Sucker Punch‘s Emily Browning, and The Social Network‘s Rooney Mara.

The role of publisher Mikael Blomkvist is also yet to be cast. Daniel Craig is in talks to play the part, a possibility that seems increasingly likely following the recent decision to put the James Bond movie franchise on indefinite hiatus.

Don’t worry too much about Stewart, though; in addition to the two-part Breaking Dawn finale of the Twilight series, which will begin filming in the fall, K-Stew is currently preparing to film the big-screen adaptation of the classic Jack Kerouac Beat Generation novel On the Road, in which she’ll play Marylou.

The actress wore a crazy dress and hairdo to the “Whip It” Roller Derby at Dundas Square in Toronto, Canada. And, wow, co-star Ellen Page looked smokin’ hot in a little black number.

And now…this.

Barrymore and Page lock lips in the October issue of Marie Claire. And judging from the interview, the two have grown very close indeed throughout the process of making the film.

“I first met Drew at the Chateau Marmont. And it was a surreal moment for me in my life,” Page recalls. “You could just feel her warmth and kindness immediately, and the way she carried herself was just so grounded. So then it was like, ‘Oh, this is going to be great.’ And then it went into, ‘Oh, my God, I’m really crazy about this person.’ It just grew and grew and grew and grew and grew.”

The pair bonded so much that they held a joint birthday celebration in Las Vegas, and Page promises more fun for the two in the future.

“I’m going to pull you away soon, and we’ll go on a wild adventure,” Page tells Drew during the interview.

Looks like they’ve already started.

Drew Barrymore straddles actress Ellen Page, whom she directs in the upcoming roller-derby epic Whip It, in the latest issue of Vs. Magazine.

Recently broken up with costar Justin Long (and a rumored fling with funnyman Jason Segal), Barrymore attended a Laker’s game in Los Angeles last night with former assistant-turned-producer Chris Miller, and the director of her hit flick He’s Just Not That Into You, Ken Kwapis.

Directly following the game, she scooted to the Avalon Hollywood for a Cat Power show, bringing along Juno star Ellen Page. Barrymore directed Page in the forthcoming Whip It!, and they fostered an extremely tight bond, according to an eye witness.

“They were very close all night,” our on-looker said, “hugging and swaying. The whole nine.”

We’ve got to hand it to Drew, who indicated to many outlets while promoting Into You that she is currently single, on a surefire way to avoid heartbreak this weekend.

It’s not Saturday yet, however. Perhaps she should ring Cameron Diaz to avoid temptation?
