This weekend’s box office battle is between two completely opposite movies that both ladies and gents can enjoy! The two films battling it out this weekend are The Five-Year Engagement and The Raven. One a romantic comedy while the other a thriller mystery. Though the films look very intriguing there can only be one on top.

So let’s take a look at both films and it break down!

First up we have funny-man Jason Segal alongside the adorable and quirky Emily Blunt in The Five-Year Engagement. The film written by Jason and Nicolas Stoller, the duo that has brought us Forgetting Sarah Marshall and viewer fav The Muppets bring audiences a rom com about two love-birds and their unplanned long  wedding engagement. Shortly after proposing Blunt’s character Violet gets a once in a lifetime opportunity that delays their wedding plans. As time goes by and more obstacles get in the way the engagement continues to be extended. Filled with tons of humor, excitement and Segal as the leading man you know this comedy will be filled with twist and turns and great laughs!

On a more serious tone we have The Raven, a fictionalized version of the last days of well-known poet Edgar Allan Poe, played by John Cusack, who is in pursue of a serial killer who has been murdering people in ways that mirror Poe’s stories. A thrilling mystery that begins with a murder, the story continues as they enlist Poe to help out in discovering who the perpetrator is. We can surely expect action, suspense and chilling discoveries from this classic mystery story. Also in the film are Immortals hottie Luke Evans and She’s Out of my League star Alice Eve. “Life is complicated and shake shifting all the time and you have to be willing to roll with the punches, the main thing that I find hard to learn as a British person is communication,” Emily joked while at a press conference in NYC for her new romantic comedy, later adding, 

“If you are in a relationship, you have to talk to each other and you have to be forever generous. … The best relationships that I have seen of my friends, and hopefully that I am in, is that you can’t clip each others wings. You have to really empower the other one to be everything they can be.”

As shown, Hollywood is a tough place to make it as a couple but Emily and John have been together for four years and have been married for two. So what’s their secret? Emily explains how they manage to keep their relationship strong amid two thriving careers, advising not to stand in the way of your partner’s success. 

“I do think the relationships where one partner is stifled by the others success, it’s either because they are allowing themselves to be that or they are sort of martyring themselves in some way. I think that is usually an unhealthy thing,” 

The 29-year-old actress continues, “Some kind of self-fulfillment is really important even if it means you have to spend some time apart and you make sacrifices in other ways. I think both people have to have some kind of purpose, some kind of identity. You don’t want to end up defining yourself by association with someone else.”

“Absolutely,” Community actress Alison Brie – who plays Emily’s sister in the flick– said agreeing. “I think also it’s sort of how you handle each situation that comes your way in life.”

The Five Year Engagement premiere kicked off the Tribeca Film Festival on April 18 in NYC and hits theaters nationwide April 27. In the film, Jason and Emily’s characters put off their planned nuptials when life continues to get in the way. Check out the trailer below: 

Segel, 32, is currently dating Michelle Williams, and while he’s confirmed the two are together, he has stayed quiet on details. However, if things keep going well, Jason could definitely see himself marrying.

“I would like to be married, certainly, yeah,” Segel said. “I think that would be lovely. I think I would make a very good husband.”

“You would actually,” Blunt responded. “Do you make good scrambled eggs?”

“I’ll tell you what. I scramble them no problem, I can scramble them with my eyes closed. I’ll also poach you some eggs,” Jason quipped.

In the film, Emily and Jason’s characters hit a crossroad during their long engagement about whether they want kids, but in reality both stars are all for it.

“I want to have kids,” Emily, 29, told Celebuzz. The Devil Wears Prada actress has been married to The Office star John Krasinski for nearly two years. “I’m from a big family, so I’m quite excited about the thought of having little people around. I don’t know when, I’d like a bit more time of being spontaneous and silly.”

As for Jason?

“I would very much like to have kids,” he said.

Judging from the photos of Segel playing with Michelle Williams’ daughter Matilda, it looks like he would make a good husband and father.

When Paul’s character Peter Klaven tied the knot in the hysterical movie, he wore a blue tux not unlike the one Jason is sporting in these pics. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, we guess!

Salmon Fishing was the opening film for the 23rd annual Palm Springs International Film Festival, and stars Emily and Ewan McGregor. The movie’s IMDB description reads:

A fisheries expert is approached by a consultant to help realize a sheik’s vision of bringing the sport of fly-fishing to the desert and embark son an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible, possible.

In the newly released trailer for The Five-Year Enagement, Jason and Emily play a crazy-in-love couple who have a magical engagement — but then life gets in the way of their knot tying dreams. Violet (Blunt) is offered a job in Michigan for just two years, and being the supportive partner that he is, Tom (Segel) uproots his life to be with the one he loves.

However, as even more ”life” begins to happen, their wedding day and subsquent marital bliss seems to get further and further away.

It also stars Parks and Recreation‘s Chris Pratt (who throws in a hilarious rendition of Billy Joel‘s “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” by the way) as well as Community‘s Alison Brie who puts on her finest British accent.

The Five-Year Engagement, written by Jason and The Muppets co-screenwriter Nicholas Stoller, (who told Celebuzz this film tested “really well” with audiences) hits theaters on April 27. Check out the trailer above!

Last year, bright colors were popping up all over the runway in many designers’ Spring/Summer and Resort collections. Now that the trend has finally caught on, it has progressed to be one of the most prominent of the upcoming year.

Every big-name designer from Chanel to Valentino to Prada has included neon pieces in their recent collections. And this past September, there were even some collections that featured a majority of neon looks like Nanette Lepore and Christian Siriano.

Of course, fashion divas like Nicki Minaj have always rocked neons, but recently, other stars like Kristin Cavallari, Blake Lively, Kourtney Kardashian, and Gwyneth Paltrow have been spotted in short, bright dresses at VIP events.

Screen sirens Natalie Portman and Kirsten Dunst were seen wearing neon blue to different award shows and celebs Julianne Moore, Jennifer Lawrence, Diane Kruger, and Brooklyn Decker have all popped in long pink gowns on the red carpet. Even if red carpeting doesn’t exactly coordinate with neon pink, that didn’t stop these stars from successfully trying the trend.

The neon trend not only applies to fashion, but to beauty as well. Try a hot pink or coral lip like Emma Stone, Emily Blunt, and Kelly Osbourne to instantly kick your look up to the next level. To really make a statement, go for neon hair like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga do so “naturally”.

Soon after the night out, the couple made a pit stop at the 7-Eleven in West Hollywood to pick up a few goodies and fill up on gas. Emily looked geek-chic with her black-rimmed glasses and make-up free look.

The couple have been partying a lot lately. A few weeks ago, they crashed a bachelor party with Community star Alison Brie and How I Met Your Mother actor Jason Segel for a night of karaoke they weren’t exactly invited to.

Directed by Jonathan Lynn and shot in 2008, the film tells the tale of a middle-aged hitman (Nighy) who’s habitually bossed around by his mom. One day, he decides not to kill his would-be female victim (Emily Blunt), and in the process gains her and Grint’s character Tony as companions who believe he is a private eye.

The film also gives Harry Potter fans reason to rejoice in the months leading up to Deathly Hallows: Part 2‘s release, as Grint and Nighy (who plays Rufus Scrimgeour in Part 1) share more screen time than ever.
