The cast of Sin City: A Dame To Kill For has just added another name: Eva Green.

The Casino Royale actress will play Ava Lord, a femme fatale worth committing homicide over, in director Robert Rodriguez‘ sequel to the hit 2005 film.

In a press release issued Tuesday, the author of the Sin City graphic novels, Frank Miller, had this to say about the casting: “Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green.”

Green, last seen in 2012′s Dark Shadows, bolsters an impressive cast that includes returning Sin City stars Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, and Rosario Dawson. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ray Liotta join Green as newcomers to the popular franchise.

As with the 2005 film, Rodriguez and Miller will co-direct Dame. The film is currently shooting and set for release on October 4, 2013.

Although it’s generally agreed that Ursula Andress is not just the quintessential Bond girl, but probably the best one, Gilchrist championed Diana Rigg as a personal favorite, not the least of which because she became the series’ one and only Mrs. Bond (in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service).

Malone, meanwhile, really liked Halle Berry (in Die Another Day), but also argued for Eva Green (in Casino Royale) and Michelle Yeoh (in Tomorrow Never Dies), both of whom are more interesting and complicated than some of the eye candy that have adorned other Bond films.
