I wouldn’t call myself a runner, but there have been times in my life when hitting the pavement became the best form of therapy.

What’s great about this individual sport is that it requires little more than your sneakers, some comfortable gear and (if you so choose) a bitchin’ playlist.  I recently came across Oiselle (French for “bird”) an apparel company that follows this same mantra.

On their website, Oiselle’s mission statement makes clear why they chose this particular animal to represent their workout gear: “It alludes to that feeling of weightlessness that most runners know and love. That sense of flight – when the legs go fast and the heart goes free.”

Now, I know that some of you haven’t picked up a present for mama yet (I haven’t either).  If your mom is anything like mine, she’s discovered fitness late in life and simply cannot get enough of those stretchy workout pants the hip kids are wearing.

Here are a few suggestions on what to get mommy dearest on Sunday so she’ll look supercute for her workout group come Monday:

EMC French Fleece Hoodie: Christy Turlington started the Every Mother Counts global campaign that increases education and support for maternal mortality reduction.  40% of proceeds from the sale of each hoodie goes to EMC to support maternal health (tell mom this, and your good deed will make her tear up.  What an outstanding kid you are!).

“Wings Out” Silver Necklace: A delicate piece of jewelry mom can sport while working on her fitness.

Bum Wrap: Ok, I’m buying one for myself (thankfully mom and I live in different cities, so there’s no chance of that 3rd-grade-mother-daughter-Christmas-sweater incident repeating itself).  Mom finishes her workout, and looks MILF-y popping into the supermarket to prep for dinner.

“Everything’s Fine, Just Keep Running” tee:  A run (or power walk, if you’re my mother) is the best medicine in case things go to sh*t.  And most times they will.  Life is one example of Murphy’s Law after another.

Oiselle Gift Certificate: The tried-and-true gift that keeps on giving, just in case nothing on this list tickled mom’s fancy.

What’s sexier than a woman showing off her curves?  Even before Marilyn Monroe showed off her hourglass figure, Mae West was giving the boys something to think about.

These days, women pay good money to have themselves sculpted to look more like Beyonce, Sofia Vergara and Kate Winslet.

Um, herroh.  There’s a much safer/cheaper/smarter way to shake that tail feather than going for broke.  For example, you’ll hear stars talking about how certain undergarments are their saving grace for red carpet events.

Might I suggest shapewear from Dr. Rey?  The former Dr. 90210‘s line is reasonably priced, keeps the wobbly bits in place and won’t prevent you from activities such as breathing, moving and turning your torso left and right.

See?  Don’t you look zexy.

On the even of fashion’s biggest night, Carey Mulligan attended a pre-Met Ball screening of her newest movie, The Great Gatsby.

Joining Mulligan at the MOMA in New York City were Emma Roberts, Mark Sanchez and former Downton Abbey star, Dan Stevens.

Mulligan told the latest issue of Flaunt magazine that she was scared out of her knickers to take on the iconic role of Daisy Buchanan.

“This ‘Gatsby’ project inspires so much anger or passion from people,” the Oscar nominee said.  ”Even British people don’t get upset if you mess up an Austen adaptation, ‘Oh that’s fine, we’ve all done it.’ But in America it’s like, ‘Don’t f–k with Fitzgerald.’”

Baz Luhrmann‘s adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel opens this Friday.

Last Tuesday, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands followed in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother by abdicating the throne.  This practice isn’t unheard of, but it certainly isn’t the norm in most royal cases.  Beatrix made the announcement on January 28th of this year, prompting many to ask, “Would Queen Elizabeth do the same?”

The simple answer is “no.”  Even in her last years, Queen Victoria was still sovereign, despite others carrying out the day-to-day duties that Her Majesty could not.

Beatrix celebrated her retirement with a formal dinner on April 29th, followed by a ceremony for her son’s inauguration April 30th.  The Dutch throne now belongs to King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, who joins Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and the Duchess of Cambridgeas Europe’s style stars.

In honor of Children’s Hospice Week, the Duchess of Cambridge visited Naomi House in Winchester, England today to meet with terminally ill children and young adults.  The center provides respite, emergency and bereavement care, something that is dear to Kate’s heart.

The Duchess is patron of East Anglia Children’s Hospice, and released a video message in support of CHW.

“She is a natural with the children, she will be a great mum, a great mum. I really mean that,” EACH chief executive Graham Butland told the Daily Mail.  ”The way in which she has raised the profile of our charity is something we will be eternally grateful.”

Kate, who wore a peach coat by Tara Jarmon with LK Bennett “Sledge” heels and a custom-made dress, joined a tea party with some of the children from Naomi’s House, and after was congratulated on her second wedding anniversary by Professor Khalid aziz, chairman of trustees at Naomi House.

“It’s especially special that you came here today because today is a very special day two years ago to the day, you were in a slightly larger building then this one – probably not having quite as much fun,” Professor Aziz told Her Royal Highness.”

But you did it very well we were all totally enthralled.  I just hope Prince William is taking you somewhere nice tonight.”

Some of the web’s most outstanding royal blogs have come together to raise funds for EACH.  The Baby Cambridge Fundraiser kicked off its campaign yesterday, celebrating the impending royal birth of Will and Kate’s baby by helping to raise money for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Katy Perry rocked a green Giambattista Valli gown to tonight’s White House Correspondents Dinner, and was styled flawlessly by Johnny Wujek.  First words that come to mind: fairy, fairy dust, ethereal.

Quick!  Let’s kick of a game of word association.

On Wednesday, Heidi Klum heated up the red carpet in style as she celebrated the upcoming season of America’s Got Talent at a premiere event in Hollywood.

The German beauty joined fellow AGT newbie Melanie Brown and returning judges Howie Mandel and Howard Stern for the event, along with host Nick Cannon.

Klum, who was officially added to the show in March, showed off her gorgeous gams in a form-fitting one-shoulder red dress and studded black heels.

“Girl Power with @officialmelb on @nbcagt in Los Angeles #AGT,” Klum wrote on Twitter, along with a backstage photo of the pair showing off their sculpted arms.

In February, NBC announced that Brown was replacing Sharon Osbourne, who served as the show’s third judge for six seasons.

America’s Got Talent season 8 premieres June 4 on NBC.

The Duchess of Cambridge channeled the 1950s on Wednesday as she attended an art event at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

The 31-year-old expectant royal, who was on hand for The Art Room reception, looked exquisite in a baby blue dress by Emilia Wickstead. The Duchess finished off her look with a pair of grey suede pumps and diamond earrings.

According to The Daily Mail’s Rebecca English, HRH helped The Art Room charity launch a new campaign called Pledge for the Future. The Duchess also met with some young folk who have benefitted from the organization.

“I am a firm believer in the power of art to make a difference and The Art Room makes this on a daily basis,” Kate said in a speech.

“As a patron of The Art Room, I feel immense pride to see the amazing work that they are doing but I also feel hugely excited to look to a future with more Art Rooms, where many more challenging and vulnerable children will be helped.”

The National Portrait Gallery is also where the Duchess’ first official portrait, unveiled in January, currently resides. She is a patron of both the NPG and The Art Room.

Kourtney Kardashian showed off her true colors Tuesday when she stepped out in London sporting red, white and blue.

Joined by boyfriend Scott Disick and son Mason, the 34-year-old dined at Novikov restaurant before heading to the toy store for a shopping spree with mom Kris Jenner.

Though it’s unclear if Kardashian is reppin’ the USA or the UK with this “kolorful” ensemble, one thing for sure: the girl looks fierce.

Jessica Paré and Jessica Biel both put their most fashionable foot forward as they hit separate red carpets in New York City on Tuesday night.

On the heels of wowing in L’Wren Scott, Paré again took a cue from her Mad Men character’s ’60s chicness with a brush-stroke sleeveless dress from Serbian designer Roksanda Ilinčić, which she styled with a white Charlotte Olympia heels.

The star’s fashion knockout stole the spotlight as the Mad Men cast attended a presentation for their award-winning AMC drama at The Paley Center for Media.

Just a few city blocks away at Lincoln Center, Biel was turning heads at the 2013 Time 100 Gala in an asymmetrical black Tom Ford tunic dress on the arm of her husband Justin Timberlake, who was also dashing in threads from his favored suit-making designer.

While Timberlake let his spiffy tuxedo speak for itself, Biel complemented her frock with Lorraine Schwartz gems, a gold-plated Tom Ford clutch and a peep-toe pump.

As her ex is also a spokesperson for Adidas’ Neo collection, Selena Gomez made sure she brought out all the stops when she modeled the brand’s latest line of streetwear.

In the label’s latest ad campaign, the “Love You Like a Love Song” crooner is seen flaunting all her curves in a series of short-shorts and — like her character in Spring Breakers -- an uber chic bikini top.

Though the Biebs was nowhere to be seen in these adverts, rumor has it this on-again, off-again couple may be heading for yet another reconciliation.

Early Sunday, the tween heartthrob shared — then quickly deleted — a snapshot of himself and Gomez, 20, in a very intimate cuddle.

To add fuel to the flame, the 19-year-old singer was also recently spotted with a photo of the brunette beauty as his iPhone background.

But hey, if we had some like Gomez as our ex, we’d want to put her on our phones too.

Princess Beatrice of York made headlines on April 29th, 2011 when she wore a fallopian-tube-pretezel hat to William and Kate’s wedding.  Wouldn’t you know that this wasn’t the first time Fergie and Prince Andrew’s daughter has worn such a dandy piece of work atop her head?

Many of her hats (including the infamous royal wedding number) are made by famed milliner Philip Treacy, who defends the royal’s choices.

In Bea’s defense, some are rather pretty.  Take, for instance, the Gina Foster fascinator she wore to the 2012 Maundy Day Service in York Minster.

Kate Middleton, the world’s most famous mom-to-be, continued her world pregnancy tour on Tuesday with an engagement at Willows Primary School in Manchester, England. She was there to teach the kids about the dangers of drugs and alcohol; everyone else was there to catch a glimpse of her elusive and now-growing baby bump.

On Sunday, Kate attended a National Scouts ceremony at Windsor castle. She is due mid-July.

The Duchess of Cambridge looked positively glowing on Sunday as she attended an event at Windsor Castle in Berkshire, England.

The royal mother-to-be was on hand for the National Review of the Queen’s Scouts, where she met with some 400 members of the Queens Scouts from around the UK and the Commonwealth.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who is also a volunteer in the Scout Association, showed off her growing baby bump in a frayed mint green Mulberry tweed coat, LK Bennett Sledge pumps and a cappuccino fascinator by Whiteley, as reported by What Kate Wore.

Did you know: Kate wore her Whiteley fascinator first at Epsom Downs in June 2011, and again at the Order of the Thistle ceremony in Scotland this past July.

According to The Daily Mail’s Rebecca English, the 31-year-old Duchess attended the event in place of Queen Elizabeth, who turns 87 on Sunday. The Queen’s most recent ceremony appearances were in 2012 and 2007.

“It’s great that so many adults are joining the Scouts, and I am sure the increase has had much to do with the Duchess of Cambridge becoming a Scout volunteer last year,” Chief Scout Bear Grylls said at the event. [via The Daily Mail]

“The Duchess is an incredible role model and she helps us show that Scouting’s not just for boys.”

The Duchess and her husband, Prince William, are expecting their first child this July.

Brent and Berkus, who are both interior designers, got engaged earlier this month in Peru.

“I’ve known since our first date that Jeremiah was who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with,” Berkus told People Magazine (via Just Jared).  ”As we’ve shared the news of our engagement and been met with so much excitement and support we’re both reminded of how important it is that every person have the legal right to marry the one they love.”

This reminds me of another glorious couple’s engagement photo.

British fashion brand L.K. Bennett wants the west coast to start dressing more ladylike, which is why they opened their first store in the Beverly Center to offset Wet Seal and Sequins-R-Us (to be fair, the Bloomingdales in that mall is super).

Last night, the makers of those famous “Sledge” heels (worn by the Duchess of Cambridge) threw a party with fashion blogger Elycia Rubin.

Though the company has a strict policy about not commenting on their most high-profile client, president Tony DiMassio told Celebuzz that despite being pregnant, Catherine “has refused to take off her L.K. Bennett heels.”

When it comes to fashion, country music awards shows can sometimes be a crapshoot.

Luckily, Sunday night’s Academy of Country Music Awards turned out to be a relatively low-key affair, with the stars and nominees opting for subtle looks instead of, you know, fringe.

Among the very best looks: the gold Dolce & Gabbana dress worn by nominee Taylor Swift; and Carrie Underwood’s elegant Naeem Khan gown.

Of course, not everyone hit it out of the park. Case in point: Shania Twain, who arrived looking less modern and more, uh, let’s just say, vintage. (Seriously, we waited 10 years for that?)

The woman who made the bright floral print a mainstream fashion must-have, Lilly Pulitzer, has passed away.

The Palm Beach socialite-turned-designer who made her mark on the fashion world in the 1960’s with her tropical print statements, died Sunday at 81.

Pulitzer’s iconic designs were so popular they transcended generations with the likes of Jacqueline Kennedy, who was Pulitzer’s former classmate at Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, Conn., donning her frocks to a baby Suri Cruise making the print young a fresh.

Pulitzer grew up wealthy, but became part of high society when she married newspaper scion Joseph Pulitzer’s grandson Peter in 1957, according to PEOPLE.

And her fashion empire took off on a whim when she started selling oranges and grapefruit from her husband’s Florida groves from the back of her station wagon wearing the smocks made by her seamstress to cover up the juice stains. And since then she went from shapeless sheath dresses to sun dresses, silk sheaths, off-the-shoulder dresses, blouses, swimsuits, children’s clothing and menswer in jungle and floral prints in blues, pinks, light greens, yellow and orange.

On her official Facebook page Pulitzer’s company posted the following statement:

“Early this morning, Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau passed away peacefully in Palm Beach, surrounded by family and loved ones. Lilly has been a true inspiration to us and we will miss her.

“In the days and weeks ahead we will celebrate all that Lilly meant to us. Lilly was a true original who has brought together generations through her bright and happy mark on the world.”

And she has left her mark with her famous enthusiasm for what made her a household name.

“I designed collections around whatever struck my fancy… fruits, vegetables, politics, or peacocks! I entered in with no business sense. It was a total change of life for me, but it made people happy,” Pulitzer told the The Associated Press in March 2009.

“Style isn’t just about what you wear, it’s about how you live,” Pulitzer said in 2004.

“We focus on the best, fun and happy things, and people want that. Being happy never goes out of style,” she said.

Is Kim Kardashian ready for a whole new look?

As the mom-to-be continues to debut her growing belly, she’s officially outgrown her bangs, taking to Twitter on Saturday to tell the world to expect a brand new Kim.

“Please grow out bangs! You’re officially bugging me!” she wrote, debuting her longer bangs.

The reality star, who’s expecting her first bundle of joy in just a few months with longtime boyfriend Kanye West, is the queen of fashionable transformations, so we’re expecting something spectacular from this jet-setting trendsetter.

She’s gone from blonde and sun-kissed, to signature chestnut and beachy waves, and the 32-year-old beauty is going out with a bang — literally.

The pregnant star, who just got back from Paris with her beau, is not shy about showing off her pregnancy curves. CB! just spotted her out and about yesterday with big sis Kourtney Kardashian, where the two made a fashion statement at a friend’s baby shower.

And she’s loving her baby body — and growing belly — donning a tight-knit black body suit and heels. Never one to miss the perfect photo op, the beautiful brunette is documenting her mommy journey, even snapping the first pic of her bare belly.

Lady in red!

The Duchess of Cambridge, known in Scotland as the Countess of Strathearn, visited with Prince Charles in Ayrshire today as part of her two-day tour with Prince William.

The pregnant royal was spotted wearing a red Armani coat that she wore in December 2006 to watch her then-boyfriend in the Soveriegn’s Parade at Sandhurst Military Academy.

Prince William’s better half also recycled some of her favorite accessories for the special day – a key component to her always-stylish looks.

Her maritime-themed brooch, a gift from the Royal Navy Submarine Service, was first pinned to her Alexander McQueen dress during the Diamond Jubilee Royal Pageant in 2012.

And to ensure that the mommy-to-be kept warm, the DoC/CoS also reused her favorite scarf from that day.

The 100% silk tartan scarf, called Streathearn No. 2 Modern tartan, is an exceptional nod to her Scottish title.

Catherine glowed as she greeted citizens and chatted with officials in Glasgow and it’s not wonder why she’s beaming with joy.

On April 4, the Palace announced that her due date is “in July” which makes Her Royal Highness about six months pregnant.  Yesterday, Catherine told a homeless shelter employee that Baby Cambridge is coming along mid-July.

“But apparently babies have their own agenda…” Catherine told Rachel Sawyer, according to the Daily Mirror.
