George Clooney knows how to throw a party!

Hosting a $40,000-a-plate fundraiser for President Barack Obama at his Los Angeles home Thursday, the Descendants actor was joined by 150 supporters at this event, including Barbra Streisand, Billy Crystal, Robert Downey, Jr. and Tobey Maguire. And Entertainment Tonight and Celebuzz have the first images from the event (see above.)

The event was said to have raised an estimated $15 million for the president’s re-election campaign.

What did the commander in chief think about the soiree?

“We raised a lot of money because everybody loves George. They like me, they love him — and rightfully so,” Obama, 50, said during the fundraising event.

Although Clooney, 51, mostly attended to the President, he made sure to tend to his girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, too.

Earlier this week, Obama — seeking a second term in the Oval Office — made news when he publicly supported the legalization of gay marriage in an interview with ABC News.

Elisabetta Canalis ‘Felt Used’ After George Clooney Breakup, Says Her ‘DWTS’ Pro Partner (EXCLUSIVE)

When Elisabetta Canalis signed up for Dancing With the Stars last season, she hoped to finally stand out from her famous ex, George Clooney — but her pal admits she ultimately “felt used” by the network. With constant references to The Descendants actor, the Italian model-turned-actress felt betrayed and confided in her DWTS pro partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, behind the scenes.

“Clooney was brought up a lot during the show, so she talked about that with me. It hurt her feelings because she felt used. She was like, ‘Do you want me or do you want me because you get to plug his name on the show?’”, Val (brother to another DWTS pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy) told Celebuzz at the Dr. Scholl’s “Get Up & Go” event in NYC.

Was Clooney to blame for their early elimination on the show?

The pair were cut second, finishing in 11th place, with the dancing pro now admitting Canalis did seem to have a lot on her mind.

“We spoke very briefly about Clooney. I knew it was a sore topic … and the Clooney references weren’t making her happy,” the DWTS pro, 26, said. “I’m not the type of person to gossip about anything. Unless she brought it up, I wouldn’t have asked.”

Clooney, 51, and Canalis, 33, split in June 22, 2011 after two years together. At the time, the duo released a joint statement, saying: “It’s very difficult and very personal and we hope everyone can respect our privacy.” A few months later, the heartbroken model/actress was cast on DWTS.

The Italian bombshell was romantically linked to former True Blood Mehcad Brooks this past year, and most recently Jackass star Steve-O after they were spotted kissing in Hollywood, Calif. in February, but they have since split.

Although Canalis has maintained a low profile, Clooney has just finished a whirlwind awards season and will be hosting a fundraising dinner for President Barack Obama‘s re-election campaign — which is expected to gross $15 million — at his Studio City, Calif. home tonight, May 10.

Happy birthday to Mr. George Clooney!

The A-lister celebrates 51 years of handsomeness today (Sunday, May 6), and we think he’s only beginning to hit his stride. With a great gal pal like the sexy Stacy Keibler, awesome movies such as The Descendants and even an Academy Award under his belt, there really is no stopping George.

While he’s had a number of ladies come and go through the years, one relationship that has remained is George’s tight-knit friendship with Brad Pitt.

The two first met when they filmed 2001′s Oceans’ Eleven, and their bromance has flourished ever since. Not only did they film two Ocean’s Eleven sequels (Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen) but they also worked on the Coen Brother‘s 2008 film Burn After Reading.

The two also had time to bond during this past awards’ season, as they were George had a number of nominations for The Descendants, while Brad scored acting noms for Moneyball.

‘Facts of Life’ Star Mindy Cohn Dishes On Being ‘Godmother’ to Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie’s Kids (EXCLUSIVE)

Is it fact, or a Hollywood urban legend?

For the last couple of years, there’s been persistent scuttlebutt that Brad Pitt, 48, and Angelina Jolie, 36, are pals with an unlikely Tinsel town celebrity – The Facts of Life star Mindy Cohn. Indeed, according to some reports, the secret friendship is so strong that the 44-year-old ’80s sitcom star is godmother to two of the couple’s six kids and that the power couple even gave her a huge diamond ring — as thanks.

Now, for the first time, Cohn is speaking out about the chatter exclusively to Celebuzz.

“That story seems to be going around, which is so interesting,” she said.

But as we found, Cohn proved to be the ultimate gate-keeper, refusing to divulge whether she is indeed godmother, let alone secrets of the parents to Maddox, 10, Pax, 8, Zahara, 7, Shiloh, 5, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 3.

“I just don’t talk about any of that,” the actress insisted.

Why so cloak and dagger about the pair, who announced their engagement on April 13?

“I’ve seen friends of mine who even put their toe in the shallow end of discussing their private life and then it becomes the story,” Cohn told Celebuzz.

Though she wasn’t up for discussing her connection to the Brangelina brood, Cohn was happy to gab about another A-lister: Brad’s Oceans Eleven buddy George Clooney!

The eternal bachelor, 50, appeared as handyman George Burnett for two seasons on Facts of Life.

Cohn said she was blown away by the Academy Award winner.

“He was hysterically funny, terrifically charismatic. His talent was obvious,” she recalls of Clooney, adding “It was the same when I met Johnny Depp on 21 Jump Street. It was a feeling of, ‘I don’t know what you’re going to do, but holy hell you’re going to have a lot of people watching you.’”

So has Mindy kept up with the rest of her Facts of Life crew?

The actress said she is still close with Kim Fields (Tootie), revealing that the two will soon appear on Andy Cohen’s Bravo show Watch What Happens Live.

Though she hasn’t stayed in close contact with Lisa Whelchel (Blair) or Nancy McKeon (Jo) — adding they are both “quite religious” — Cohn does assure fans, “We’ll be like sisters for the rest of our lives.”

Following her Facts of Life days, Mindy went on to be the voice of Velma for 12 years in the cartoon Scooby-Doo and currently appears in ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager alongside another ’80s icon, Molly Ringwald.

However, she hasn’t forgotten where she’s came from.

“A lot of people feel if you did a sitcom in the ’80s, you should be apologetic,” she added. “I happen to think if you’re on any show for nine years and it touches people, you should be proud of that. I’m still so moved when someone has the courage to come up to me and say hi.”

We’re sure the details of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s wedding day are being sorted out as we speak, but one aspect we’re dying to know (besides the dress)? Who will be Brad’s best man!

The 48-year-old Moneyball actor has lots of famous friends, including George Clooney and Matt Damon, so many are betting (literally) that it will come down to one of them. However, there are some others in the mix who would be a great fit to help throw a wild bachelor party (and all those other best man duties) for the father of six.

For instance, it’s usually tradition that when a man gets married, his brother (or dad) is the one to be bestowed with the honor.

Paddy Power, Europe’s largest betting company, announced that they believe Brad’s bro, Doug, will be best man, with 8 to 1 odds. There are 1 to 8 odds that George Clooney will be the one, while they’re saying Matt Damon is a close third, with 9 to 1 odds.

It was announced on Friday April 13 that Brad and Angelina were ready to tie the knot after seven years of dating, and six children together. Not many other details are know, in terms of a date and location. We don’t know about you guys, but we’re still dying to know how he popped the question!

Following his high-profile arrest (for a good cause!), George Clooney opted for some much needed rest and relaxation.

The 50-year-old actor jetted off to Cabo San Lucas with girlfriend Stacy Keibler and a few friends for fun in the sun. George relaxed in a shirt and blue shorts, while Stacy, 32, donned a black bikini, ripped denim shorts and a fedora hat. The Descendants star was all smiles as he sipped on a beer and chatted with his friends.

We have no doubt that George Clooney handled today’s arrest in Washington D.C. with every bit of class and swagger as he does on the red carpets.

This, after all, isn’t Clooney’s first brush with the law … at least in his acting career. The 50-year-old actor/activist has played roles where he has committed a crime and paid the time!

Where on the big-screen have we seen this handsome star under arrest?

First we saw him head to jail for bank robbery in 1998’s Out of Sight, then we watched him bust out of prison in O Brother Where Art Thou in 2000. And how could we forget the gorgeous George behind bars in 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven? Seven years later he was a murderer when he shot costar Brad Pitt in the head in Burn After Reading.

George is free on bail from this morning’s real-life arrest for protesting in front of the Sudanese embassy. Phew! We are glad he is safe and sound, but take a look through the gallery to see all of George’s on-screen criminal moments!

George Clooney Is a Free Man! Bailed Out For $100

After only a few hours, George Clooney was bailed out of jail, and at a bargain rate! In fact, this could be the cheapest celebrity bailout we’ve seen!

The Oscar nominee, along with a 17 others including the actor’s dad Nick, were released from jail for $100 each, TMZ is reporting. The group was arrested in Washington D.C. on Friday morning during a protest outside the Sudanese Embassy.

Following his release, George chatted with CNN.

Even prior to going down to the station, the actor was able to get a message to TODAY show anchor Ann Curry who tweeted:

George Clooney:”It’s actually a humiliating thing to be arrested no matter what you do, but i’m glad to be standing here with my father.”

George Clooney was arrested during his protest in Washington D.C. in front of the Sudanese Embassy. Clooney was protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. The 50-year-old activist, his father Nick Clooney as well as a dozen others were also cuffed.

“He was demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world,” his rep told Celebuzz.

George Clooney is making a scene off screen!

The 50-year-old activist was arrested during his protest in Washington D.C. today in front of the Sudanese Embassy. The actor’s rep Stan Rosenfield told Celebuzz:

“They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.”

George wasn’t the only one arrested. The actor’s father Nick Clooney as well as a dozen others (congressmen included) were also cuffed. TODAY show reporter Ann Curry tweeted a statement from George, writing:

George Clooney:”It’s actually a humiliating thing to be arrested no matter what you do, but i’m glad to be standing here with my father.”

The hunky Descendants actor continued his trip to Washington, D.C., on Thursday, where he met with President Obama to discuss the crisis in Darfur, Sudan.

Dressed in a black suit tie, a still-bearded George looked ready to take Washington by storm as he addressed the media outside of the White House. Is it too late for him to run for President?

Oscar-winning hunk George Clooney went to Washington, D.C., early Wednesday morning, where he plans to meet with President Barack Obama and testify before Congress about Sudan war crimes.

We love a man who is passionate about a cause. We also love a man who knows how to rock a beard. This is exactly what Clooney did on his trip to our nation’s capital this morning. Suffice to say, he’s looking pretty darn good!

Brad Pitt, George Clooney & More Perform in ’8′ for Marriage Equality (VIDEO)

Brad Pitt and George Clooney may be known for their on set pranks but marriage equality is no laughing matter for these talented actors!

On Saturday, the famous best friends banded together to fight for gay rights and marriage equality by performing a benefit reading of 8 at The Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. Written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, the play featured A-listers (and prominent gay rights spokespeople) Chris Colfer, Martin Sheen and, of course, Pitt and Clooney.

Although the play only ran for one night, the star-studded performance was made available live on YouTube by the American Foundation for Equal Rights. Watch the video above and forward to the 30 minute mark to see the full play!

Now that the dust has settled from this year’s awards season, there was undoubtedly no more of a perfect paring than George Clooney and Stacy Keibler.

The beautiful couple stepped onto the carpet at various awards shows and premieres over the past few months — and we picked some of our favorite looks the love birds strutted down the press line!

George never looked so dapper as he does with the glamorous Stacy on his arm. All of Hollywood has been praising his work in The Descendants, but no trophy seems a match for his lovely lady. The duo are definitely giving Brad and Angelina a run for their money as the hottest couple on the carpet!

Next up for George is the sci-fi thriller Gravity with Sandra Bullock later this year.
