If it’s Elton John, he rings in the occasion with a few good friends. And some greasy patties of ground beef.

Sir Elton turned 62 on March 25, and held his birthday party at Hamburger Hamlet in Los Angeles on Friday night. Well-wishers included acerbic funnyman David Spade, Daisy Fuentes, Gina Gershon, Barron Hilton and Cindy Crawford—who, it should be noted, still looks pretty good at 43.

Happy birthday, Elton! Go ahead and order the double cheeseburger. You only go around once.

In a profile piece about Clinton, Todd S. Purdum hints at “more recent high-end Hollywood dinner-party gossip that Clinton has been seen visiting with the actress Gina Gershon in California.”

In response, the Showgirls thespian is demanding that the magazine print a retraction of the statement, which her rep claims is “absolutely false,” accusing Vanity Fair of “irresponsible journalism.”

“Ms. Gershon has only been in the same room as President Clinton on three occasions,” the documents state, “during which she was always in the presence of anywhere from a dozen people to several hundred or more.”

For his part, the former President has also lashed out at Purdum, labeling him “dishonest,” “sleazy,” “slimy” and a “scumbag.”

If Clinton truly did enjoy physical intimacy with Gershon, then he has certainly moved up in the world—sorry, Monica and Paula and Gennifer.
