Girl Meets World finally has its girl.

As fans anxiously await the debut of the TV show — a spinoff of the ’90s hit Boy Meets World – Disney has just announced that 11-year-old actress Rowan Blanchard has been cast in the title role of Riley Matthews.

Blanchard will play Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga’s (Danielle Fishel) daughter — and at the tender age of 11 she already has a growing list of films under her belt alongside Hollywood heavyweights. The pre-teen has appeared in The Back-Up Plan with Jennifer Lopez and Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D with Jessica Alba.

So just who is this young star on the rise? Celebuzz has compiled the Top 5 facts you need to know before tuning into the upcoming Disney series:

1. She loves to cook!: Blanchard regularly shares pictures on her Instagram of baked goods and dinners that she’s crafted on her own.

3. She’s addicted to the Hunger Games series: Blanchard started a countdown for the release of the film and references her favorite quotes throughout her social media sites.

Now that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel — a.k.a. Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence — have officially signed on for Disney’s Boy Meets World sequel, Girl Meets World, many nostalgic fans want to know whether Cory’s BFF Shawn Hunter will appear in the television series as well.

While there’s been speculation over which characters will return, Rider Strong, who played Shawn from 1993 to 2000, has finally broken his silence on whether not he’ll be involved in the ambitious project.

In a lengthy statement on his website, Strong reveals he currently has “no official involvement” in the highly-anticipated Disney Channel spin-off series. But don’t fret Boy Meets World fans: He’s not swearing off Shawn Hunter for good.

“I am extremely happy for Ben and Danielle to be able to continue the story,” he wrote. “At this point, I have no official involvement in Girl Meets World. There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years.”

“Boy Meets World was a defining aspect of my life, and I cherish those seven years,” he added. “It was never just a job — on a personal level, many of my best memories and friendships were formed because of it.”

However, when it comes to Girl Meets World, Strong can’t wait to see the beloved ’90s series “evolve” for the new generation.

“But Girl Meets World will be, and I think it should be, its own show,” he wrote. It will be about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of characters.”

From 1993 to 1995, child star Lily Nicksay portrayed Cory’s little sister Morgan on the hit ABC sitcom, Boy Meets World. Now, reports have surfaced that the Disney Channel is planning a sequel series — tentatively called Girls Meets World – and Nicksay wants in.

The House of Mouse is in the beginning stages of developing the sequel. The new show will allegedly center around Riley, the preteen daughter of Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) and Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel).

Savage and Fishel are reportedly in talks to reprise their roles. So where does Nicksay fit in?

TMZ caught up with the 24-year-old actress to see if she’d consider joining the Boy Meets World sequel.

“I’d love to talk [to Disney] about being a part of it,” the actress told TMZ. However, she has not been approached by the network yet.

Nicksay was replaced by older actress Lindsay Ridgeway in 1995. Nicksay went on to appear in Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Redford’s 1996 film Up Close & Personal and booked small screen roles in The Guardian, Judging Amy and 8 Simple Rules.

The characters in the spinoff will center a on a small team of agents who travel the country solving crimes. Two of the characters will be introduced in a two-part episode of NCIS: LA. [Deadline]

Ratings for many shows were down on Monday night. Though NBC’s The Voice was the ad-coveted 18-49 leader for the 8 PM and 9 PM hours, ABC won the night in terms of actual viewers. FOX’s Bones and The Mob Doctor returned with audiences consistent with their season averages. [Zap2it]

Word is Disney is casting for Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel)’s daughter Riley Matthews and her BFF, Maya for the project, Girl Meets World. The description for Riley says she is a 13-year-old girl who is loyal to her friends and ready to take on life. Maya will be the exact opposite of her best friend.
