Musicians were warned about showing too much skin, and for the most part, the stars seemed to stick to the code. Even Rihanna’s Azzedine Alaia gown was relatively subdued despite its sheer detailing.

The skin that we did see, however, was absolutely flawless. Jennifer Lopez’ complexion couldn’t have been more gorgeous. Fortunately she wore her hair pulled back tight into a severe topknot so we got the full view.

Aside from J. Lo and Taylor Swift, who wore a braided updo at the beginning of the night, most of the Grammy’s guests wore their hair down. Was there a shortage of hair pins in LA this weekend? Or maybe it was the edgy vibe at the show. A structured updo seems more appropriate for the Oscars, while loose hair is better suited for jamming out to Bruno Mars and Sting.

If they spent less time on their hair, celebs lingered a bit longer in the manicure chair. Nail art was huge—Carly Rae Jepsen and Janelle Monae both had bejeweled digits.

But not all stars went all out with their nails. Swift admitted that she did her own nails just moments before heading to the red carpet, but we’ll give her a pass considering she opened the show and probably had bigger things on her mind.

Despite the new dress code, there were still plenty of wacky, weird and just wrong look at the this year’s Grammy Awards.

Music’s top stars are known to push the boundaries with more than just their performances. The one-of-a-kind and even outrageous red carpet fashion devised by music’s top talent (Lady Gaga’s meat costume and Nicki Minaj’s crazy costumes come to mind), has always been a highlight of the Grammy’s.

Though the fashion was far less over-the-top and revealing than we’ve seen in years past, even CBS’ new red carpet regulations couldn’t completely squelch their sartorial creative juices of music’s most inventive fashionistas.

The Grammy Awards are known for their outrageous fashion, but that may all change after this year’s red carpet parade.

Maybe it was the new dress code; maybe it’s the evolution of some of music’s biggest stars (think: Rihanna and Katy Perry‘s new elegant red carpet style). But unlike years past, for the 2013 Grammy Awards, we didn’t have to struggle to devise our best-dressed list.

From Rihanna in red and Beyonce in black and white to Adele‘s floral frock, the stars really stepped up their red carpet style for music’s biggest night.

The East Coast is bracing for blizzard Nemo. But even before the first snowflake fell, the storm started wreaking havoc on Hollywood’s schedule.

With over 3,700 flights being canceled in anticipation of what could be a historic whiteout, several industry events could feel the consequences of thwarted travel plans.

Out on the West Coast, Los Angeles is set to host the Grammy Awards (Sunday), the American Society of Cinematographers Awards (Sunday) and the Sci-Tech Oscars (Saturday), all of which could see ripple effects from grounded flights.

And in New York City, where snow began to fall Friday morning, Nemo is already altering the lineup for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which kicked off on Wednesday.

Designer Marc Jacobs has decided to rescheduled his collection show from Monday, Feb. 11, to Thursday, Feb. 14, due to customs and delivery delays, according to WWD.

Though the collection show will still take place at the Lexington Armory, the show could not move forward as they are “missing bags, shoes and two fabrics, ” Marc Jacobs International president Robert Duffy said.

While other have yet to follow suit, Jacobs likely won’t the only label burdened by Nemo-related hindrances. For designers who do decide to postpone — whether it be for stalled shipments or canceled flights — they may follow Jacobs’ lead in shifting to next Thursday, which seems to be the lightest day on this year’s Fashion Week schedule.

Meanwhile, other designers are simply missing out on their moment in the NYFW spotlight due. Fashion maven Jenni Kayne is marooned in California due to flight cancellations and will miss her collection’s presentation, slated for Friday at 11 AM, entirely.

Cover up those bellies, boobs and butts — this year, the Grammy Awards are going classy.

The 55th annual awards ceremony has allegedly issued a wardrobe advisory to all attendees an effort to avoid any too-revealing fashions from appearing on the Feb. 10 CBS telecast.

The policy calls for all talent set to appear on camera to ensure that “buttocks and female breasts,” as well as the “bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack,” are kept under wraps at the 2013 Grammy Award ceremony, according to a CBS-sent email circulated by multiple media reports.

Not only should “thong type costumes” — sorry, Toni Braxton — and “sheer see-through clothing” — cover up, Rihanna — be avoided, but “bare sides or under curvature of the breasts” — i.e. side-boob a la Miley Cyrus— are also off limits.

It’s not just too much bare skin that is banned. The dress code compels Grammy goers to avoid any commercial brand names, foreign language or obscenities on their garb. But oddly of all, talent are advised not to wear “lapel pins or any other form of accessory” that spells out any one organized cause.

So American flags or breast cancer awareness broaches are a no-go?

Perhaps CBS, which shelled out for steep FCC fines over Janet Jackson‘s nipple at the 2004 Super Bowl, is simply hoping to avoid any broadcasting hiccups. But for an award show beloved for its out-there outfits — be it good, bad, or please-God-never-again — such wide-ranging wardrobe restrictions could curb the publicity-pumping hoopla surrounding the ceremony.

What tongues weren’t wagging when Braxton wore that loincloth-like white dress back in 2001? And, of course, all viewers were just waiting with baited breath to see if Christina Aguilera‘s ta-tas would plummet out of her low-cut frock in 2004. But above of all, who can remember anything about the 2000 Grammy Awards except for Jennifer Lopez‘s down-to-there green Versace gown?

Without such risqué style moments this year, what will keep all eyes glued to the television for the Grammy red carpet? We’ll leave it to the music industry insiders to decide that. But before tuning in to the 55th annual Grammy Awards ceremony on Sun., Feb 10., take a look back at some skin-baring fashions that just won’t fly at this year’s show.

Of all the major awards shows out there, none is quite as schizophrenic as the Grammys.

Some years, the Recording Academy will go for the popular, accepted choice. (Think Taylor Swift, or last year’s Album of the Year winner, Adele.)

Then, in other years, voters will ditch all thought, rhyme and reason and go for albums that will spend the next 20 years collecting dust on your grandmother’s living room shelf. (Seriously, who the hell bought Herbie Hancock‘s The River: Joni Love Letters?)

Which means that this year’s crop of nominees are likely to be just as impossible to predict.

As we await to find out who will dominate Sunday’s telecast (Frank Ocean? fun.? Over the years, the Grammy for Best New Artist has proven to be a fickle award.

In many instances, it has gone to an artist or group who would go on to achieve major worldwide success. (Mariah Carey, anyone?)

But in certain cases, it has also been rewarded to artists whose careers ended right after they finished their acceptance speech, leading many to believe that the award is more of a curse than a blessing. (Seriously, when was the last time Shelby Lynne’s name came up in one of your conversations?)

Adele swept the Grammy Awards on Sunday taking home six awards for her album, 21. While the huge win made headlines, fans and viewers couldn’t help but notice the “Rollin’ in the Deep” singer’s gum chewing throughout her entire speech.

The world and the folks at gum brand Trident took notice! In honor of Adele’s bold, tear-filled acceptance speeches, Trident has already shipped off a year’s supply to the soulful songbird.

Where’s the egg?!

While Lady Gaga made an unforgettable entrance at last year’s Grammy Awards when she arrived on the red carpet in an egg (literally), this year she skipped it all together and went straight to her seat in the audience. (Next to country cutie couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert). Dressed in a see through number, Mother Monster covered up her face (kind of) by wearing a face mask of sorts.

The stars will be blinging backstage at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards’ gift lounge next Sunday, as performers and presenters will have an opportunity to indulge in some serious nail art.
