Heartthrob rocker and actor Jared Leto was almost unrecognizable when he stepped out in high heels, a short black skirt and fur jacket this week to play a transvestite in his new movie The Dallas Buyers Club, co-starring Matthew McConaughey.

And just like a whole list of hunky actors before him, Leto was willing to do anything for his art by morphing into the opposite sex in order to fulfill a gender-bending role.

Fellow pin-up male stars, including Cillian Murphy in Peacock, Johnny Depp in Before Night Falls and Guy Pearce in The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of The Desert have all also been waxed, padded and made-up to look like the opposite sex for previous roles.

Guy Pearce of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and L.A. Confidential fame has mentioned that he’d love to be considered to play the villain in the next Batman epic.

And who would that villain be? Think green tights, question marks and a maniacal laugh.

Speculation abounds that the Riddler will be the major foe in director Christopher Nolan‘s next entry in his new, improved and wildly lucrative Batman series.

While promoting his latest film Traitor with co-star Don Cheadle, Pearce told MTV News, “I have a lot of reluctance [to playing a superhero or villain], but doing it with someone like Chris Nolan would certainly make it appealing.”

Guy famously worked with Nolan on the director’s breakout film, Memento.

But the Aussie actor has some stiff competition. There are rumors that rock n’ roll sweat factory Johnny Depp is up for the part.
