ABC isn’t even pretending that Happy Endings isn’t headed toward cancelation after moving the comedy to what’s been called the Friday night death slot. Even recent promos ask fans to save Happy Endings by watching its one-hour blocks on Fridays starting at 8PM.

“I’ve never watched television on a Friday night,” star Zachary Knighton recently told reporters during a set visit.

“We could have been canceled, they canceled [Don’t Trust the B in Apt. 23] and we didn’t get cancelled so I take it as a good sign,” he continued.

“I know there’s a lot of support at the network and we’re a strange show on that network and I don’t know if we’ve ever really had a place anywhere. It’s kind of been the story of the show since Day 1. We’ve always been on that weird precipice of uncertainty, so we just see what happens I guess.”

Of course, “saving” the show would be the No. 1 reason to watch on Fridays, but the cast members teased this season’s upcoming hilarity while we were on-set.

So, here are eight more reasons to tune in, set your DVR, or watch online.

2. Feud truck: Penny (Casey Wilson) will lose the most important thing in Dave’s (Knighton) life: his food truck. “You guys will probably see this some time in July,” Knighton teases. “There’s an episode coming up where the steak truck gets stolen and a lot of bad things happen to the truck. There’s a sort of Romeo and Juliet storyline that happens with it, some of our crew gets involved with the rival truck crew. That’s going to be a really funny episode. There are going to be a few things done to that truck that I didn’t know that you could do to a food truck.”

3. The return of MPG: Mark-Paul Gosselaar will be back. “If you remember, he said he was going to come back and ruin Max’s life,” Knighton says. “I think Dave is so enthralled with Chase that he would probably join Chase’s side if it came down to it. For some reason, Dave just loves Chase. He wants to be Chase.”

4. A Groupon episode: “[Alex] collects a lot of Groupons and doesn’t really use them,” Elisha Cuthbertexplains. “So, Dave dares her to go back and use the ones she’s collected. And, he’s put her up to the challenge to use every one of those coupons, which is crazy. So, obviously, Groupons ensue.”

5. Penny’s dad! “We meet my dad, who is played by Andy Richter,” Wilson said. “And he’s been kind of a deadbeat dad, but really it’s a sad version of a deadbeat dad story. He’s been trying to make a career in musical theatre in New York City. He’s like a failed musical theatre actor. So, I think he wishes at least since he left her that he had had more success.”

6. A musical! Penny writes a one-woman musical about her life that turns into community theatre when she begins casting others in roles. “I mean it was the most rinky-dink production that we did,” Wilson reveals. “We filmed it for like three days and it felt like we were doing a Summer Stock. Like the sets were so sad… It was so stupid and fun and we got to work with a choreographer. All my dreams came true over the course of this episode.”

7. Text addict: Max (Adam Pally) is having a problem – he can’t stop texting a guy and the guy has stopped writing back. So, Penny steps in. Hint: It involves the use of Nyquil to induce sleep.

8. Who’s the real Bridezilla? Don’t expect Penny to be the one that goes nuts over planning her wedding to Pete (Nick Zano). “I think Jane is the real Bridezilla, like it’s not Penny, weirdly,” Wilson says.

9. That’s bunk. OK, so Penny does have one Bridezilla moment. “Penny has a bunker she wants everyone to go into in case her wedding day is to be destroyed, like an underground bomb shelter bunker,” Wilson says. “That’s sort of Bridezilla-esque, I think. She’s thinking through every possible scenario of something to go wrong.”

“Gangnam Style” is so 2012. Right now it’s all about the Harlem Shake.

Though originally the name of a 1980s dance that turned mainstream, G. Dep’s “Let’s Get It” music video, the Harlem Shake has gone on to be referenced in mumerous songs over the years, including a track by Brooklyn-based producer Baauer.

Now that song has become the backdrop music in Harlem Shake meme, the latest online dance craze to take the Internet by storm.

And since the release of a video by the YouTube comedy video blogger Filthy Frank, the revived ‘shake’ has spawned tens of millions of viral videos.

Step 1: Hit play on Baauer’s “Harlem Shake.”

Step 2: At the beginning, only one person (often masked) starts dancing. All others in the room or area appear oblivious, going about their ordinary tasks.

Step 3: When the beat drops, the clip cuts to everyone dancing crazy, sometimes in costume and/or with props.

Not only is it spreading like wildfire on the web — with videos featuring everyone from college swimmers, to military men, to subway riders, to grandmas — but the Harlem Shake is even sweeping shows across the nation, from CBS’ Anderson Live to NBC’s TODAY show.

It’s been a long time since TNT’s Franklin & Bash star and Saved by the Bell Alum Mark-Paul Gosselaar starred on his own half-hour comedy, but this television season he is checking off guest starring on them left and right. First it was playing a version of himself on ABC’s Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23, and now he’s popping up on Happy Endings.

“It was awesome for me to work with Mark-Paul! I was totally star-struck, maybe the most star-struck I’ve been, doing scenes with Zack Morris,” Happy Endings star Adam Pally told Celebuzz.

Pally probably had the most screen time with Gosselaar, as Gosselaar’s characters comes into Tuesday’s all new episode, “The Ex-Factor,” as Max’s new roommate. But that gang is so tight, the minute someone new steps in, they all want to get to know him to see how he’ll vibe with the whole group.

“Dave, and Max and Alex are all kind of instantly struck by how cool he is, but Max has sworn that he’s never going to get involved with a roommate again: ‘I made that mistake last time.’ And Dave is like ‘Wait, I was your last roommate,’ and Max goes, ‘Yeah, that was a disaster, I’m just not going to do that again,’” series executive producer Jonathan Groff said.

“So they all go to meet him, and they’re taken with him, so we needed somebody who just had a good energy and a ‘had his s**t together’ vibe. We knew Mark-Paul could play that really well. He got the joke of why it would be funny to do it.”

Saturday Night Live alum Jenny Slate is headed to NBC’s Parks and Recreation. The comedian will play Jean Ralphio’s (Ben Schwartz) twin sister. Her character, Mona Lisa, will be hired by Tom (Aziz Ansari) to work at his Rent-A-Swag store. She is set to guest on at least one episode, which will air later in Season 5. [EW]

ABC News’ chief White House correspondent, Jake Tapper is leaving the network for CNN. He will be the chief Washington correspondent on CNN as well and also host a weekday program in 2013. In a statement, Tapper said, “With CNN’s impeccable reporting during the elections and the exciting changes in the network, this is a perfect time to join the CNN team.” [THR]

FOX’s Touch is bringing Ron Rifkin on for its Season 2 finale. The Alias alum will play Issac, a rabbi who believes in destiny. The second season premiere of Touch airs Feb. 8 on FOX. [THR]

Come January, ABC will be giving viewers an extra dose of Happy Endings and Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23. Beginning Jan. 6 the two comedies will show additional original episodes in the now vacant slot left open by 666 Park Avenue. Both series will end their seasons in March to make room for Dancing With the Stars. [TVLine]

ABC’s Happy Endings is bringing in RuPaul for a guest spot on an upcoming episode. The fabulous host of Logo’s RuPaul’s Drag Race will play Max’s new hairdresser. The episode is set to air in early-2013. [TVLine]

Last Resort’s Robert Patrick has a new (old) role. The Terminator 2 actor is returning to HBO’s True Blood as Alcide’s (Joe Manganiello) father. He first appeared on the vampire drama on Season 5 for a three-episode arc and will now be added as a series regular for Season 6. [Deadline]

General Hospital is bringing back Meredith Vieira. The former anchor of Today, first appeared on the ABC soap 10 years ago as call-girl Bree Flanders. This time, her character has a much classier career as the senior VP of marketing at CoeCoe cosmetics. She’ll appear on Friday’s episode. [TV Guide]

Betty White is bringing in the big guns for Season 2 of Off Their Rockers. This season, guests will include America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel, The Winner Is host Nick Lachey, Killer Karaoke host Steve-O, and Adrienne Maloof, Kyle Richards and Camille Grammar from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The second season of Off Their Rockers premieres Jan. 8. [TV Guide]

Ratings for the finale of CBS’ Amazing Race were down 21 percent Sunday night to tie the show’s lowest-rated finale ever with 9.3 million viewers. The holiday special, Disney’s Prep & Landing, aired on ABC on Sunday and was up 27 percent despite only attracting 5 million viewers and a 1.4 rating in the ad-coveted demographic. [EW]

Penny (Casey Wilson) has always had trouble meeting the right guy on ABC’s Happy Endings, but on Tuesday’s brand new episode, she may have finally met her match: Nick Zano.

The actor, most recently seen on CBS’ 2 Broke Girls, is joining the cast of the show in a recurring role as the perpetually lovelorn Penny’s new beau, Pete. Tuesday’s episode, “P & P’s Romance Factory,” features the pair meeting at a bike shop with Penny wearing her prescription helmet, which in true Happy Endings fashion, she wants to hide from her new guy.

“There’s a great helmet-related montage [on my first episode],” Zano told Celebuzz about their first round of dates, which conveniently take place in locations such as a construction site.

Zano, 34, said that while being on the set with the close-knit group could be intimidating for some, he has felt comfortable and welcomed with open arms. The star absolutely loves it and gushed about the talent he gets to work with every day.

“Adam Pally is just the funniest person,” he said. “I find myself biting on the inside of my cheek all the time [when working with him] so that I don’t mess up the scenes.”

On Zano’s second episode on the series, the two bond as Pally’s Max is feeling left out because of Penny’s significant other.

With the hilarity that ensues on Happy Endings, how do the show’s stars keep a straight face?

Truth is, they don’t. Sometimes, the same humor that leaves fans in side-splitting laughter even gets the best of the actors on set of the ABC comedy.

“Sometimes I just will laugh; if it’s funny, I’m going to let it out,” Damon Wayans, Jr., who plays Brad Williams on the series, told Celebuzz during Bud Light’s America Recycles Day event, which featured a goal post built out of 125,000 crushed aluminum cans. “It depends on the day. Yesterday, I held myself together really well. But other days, I got to give it up. And everybody does that.”

It’s even become something of a contest amongst the cast — they aim to crack up their costars.

“Because they let us just go and go…and we know everybody’s weak point,” Wayans said. “Like I know what makes you laugh now. So we go for it — we try to mess people up. That’s like the goal — to take longer.”

And the wisecracking continues even when the cameras stop rolling, explained Wayans, who said the cast has “so many” running jokes.

“Adam (Pally) does this thing, where anybody who has glasses, he’ll ask them to come here to help him out with something and he’ll just knock their glasses off,” the comedian recalled. “It’s just funny seeing the reactions of people, because some people want to punch him and then some other people laugh. I like it when the people want to punch him. It’s funny.”

Good humor is part of what keeps the cast in harmony — especially for Wayans and Eliza Coupe, who plays his on-screen wife Jane Kerkovich-Williams. “Every morning we meet up and sleep together,” Wayans joked. “It definitely helps with the chemistry.”

“We just have really similar sense of humor,” he continued. “Once we realized we were on the same page with that, we just laughed a lot off-camera and just really got along really well and I’ve grown very fond of her. We’re really good friends [and] we always hang out. It’s just been really good and it just bleeds on the camera.”

And Wayans is not just close with Coupe — the whole Happy Endings clan has bonded. “We literally hang out,” Wayans said.

“We like to bar hop, we’ll go to each other’s houses, or watch TV…we’ll go to movies. It’s awesome…. If we’re a family, we’re like cousins,” he revealed.

Gobble Gobble! It’s Thanksgiving week and you know what that means!

Holiday episodes and TV marathons galore all over the small screen as Americans get to cooking, eating and sleeping.

There’s a bountiful feast of fantastic options on TV this week as you contemplate whether or not to have that second serving of turkey and potatoes (go ahead!). And, of course, there’s always football. Many broadcast shows will also be celebrating the holiday with special episodes.

ABC’s Happy Endings is showing how the gang met on an un-aired season of The Real World while FOX’s New Girl is introducing Jess’ (Zooey Deschanel) parents played by Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of marathons for you to catch of  all your favorite shows or perhaps even discover some new ones while you’re relaxing the days away. This is the true story of six friends on an awesome television show on ABC.

Happy Endings is keeping it real on its Thanksgiving episode by taking viewers back 10 years to when Max (Adam Pally) and Brad (Damon Wayans Jr.) were on an unaired season of The Real World in Sacramento.

Says Penny (Casey Wilson) on the episode titled “More Like Stanksgiving”: “Isn’t it odd how our sixsome was basically forged on The Real World and yet we never talk about it?”

We agree, Penny. It may be odd, but it makes for a wonderful holiday episode. This year, Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) and Dave (Zach Knighton) are hosting the festivities in their new apartment which turns out to be, well, interesting.

“[Dave's] stuff hasn’t been moved in and obviously I live on the streets and don’t have anything, so our furniture is really funny,” Cuthbert told reporters on the set of the show. Seriously, expect some hilarious seats around the dining room table.

As for Dave’s big role on the episode, Knighton revealed, “Dave is 1/16 Navajo and so he is really intent on showing everybody what the true Thanksgiving is like.”

“Its’ pretty great, because Dave gets to experience the entire plight of the Native Americans in one episode of Happy Endings,” he joked. “It’s pretty awesome.”

“And then we realize that he hasn’t been [at the apartment] the entire time,” Cuthbert chimed in.

Meanwhile the rest of the gang IS at the apartment – watching the episode of The Real World in which they all visited Brad and Max on the reality show. In addition to some hilarious storylines – Max claiming he would have been the first person to come out on TV; Jane (Eliza Coupe) and Brad meeting for the first time – the Happy Endings cast dons some hilariously awesome costumes on the lost episode.

“[Brad’s] got a Counting Crows situation going on,” said Coupe, referencing the Crows’ lead singer Adam Duritz. Meanwhile, Coupe’s Jane is rocking a very Gwen Stefani look.

“Penny  has “the Rachel,” a Juicy Couture jumpsuit and the Uggs,” Wilson told us of her character’s outfit on the lost season when she is Max’s girlfriend. Pally said, “Max has that very late 90s Patagonia freshman in college look with a fauxhawk and a wristband.”

“His style was not yet as refined,” laughed the comedian. We’ll let the viewers be the judge.

Happy Endings’ Thanksgiving-themed episode airs Tuesday at 9 PM on ABC.

Happy Endings‘ Brad Williams is about to go job hopping.

Ever since his department at a Chicago investment firm was cut, Brad — played by Damon Wayans, Jr. — has been trying to find his footing in the world of unemployment during the ABC sitcom’s third season. Then, after Max lands a gig on the bar mitzvah circuit, he enlists Brad for Boyz II Menorah — their sweatsuit-wearing, two-man hype team that’s paid to get the party started.

“I don’t know if it necessarily suits him, but I know that he loves to dance,” Wayans told Celebuzz during Bud Light’s America Recycles Day event, which featured a goal post built out of 125,000 crushed aluminum cans. “He loves to hype people up and keep people happy.”

But in no time, Max gets green-eyed — especially when Brad steals his signature dreidel spin, topping off the move with a “real back flip,” Wayans said. “I was so amazed by myself,” he added in jest.

Luckily for Max, Brad won’t be hitting the bar mitzvah dance floors for long. “He is going to keep hopping from different kind of jobs, odd jobs,” the actor explained. “We’ll see what job he happens upon.”

And that may not mean Brad back at a 9-t0-5 desk job. “Perfect job for Brad would have to be either [working] at a gym for kids or Bed, Bath & Beyond,” Wayans said. “Either that, or like smell goods all over because he loves to smell good.”

That’s just one of the many quirks that defines Brad, whose married to Eliza Coupe‘s Jane. “Every guy who’s married, you have your wife…[who] brings this whole new world to you,” said Wayans. “And a lot of men are forced to be like, ‘I’m gonna be macho, man. I don’t do that girly stuff.’ Brad, does the opposite. He gives in to all of that. He’s like, ‘Oh, look at these oils. Oh, look at that loofah.’”

“He take it and he’s OK with it,” he added. “You know why? Because he’s in love with his wife and he’s cool. He’s fine with his sexuality. He has his feminine moments, but he will toughen up. He will stick his chest out — and order a venti latte.”

Get ready folks! ABC’s Happy Endings is back!

Our favorite six friends return with a hilarious Season 3 premiere, which starts off with Penny (Casey Wilson) in a body cast and Max (Adam Pally) as her nurse.

Though, from what the pair told Celebuzz when we recently visited the set, she may not benefit from having her BFF on hand.

“Max is kind of the nurse similar to Kathy Bates in Misery I would say, “ Pally said. “I think he enjoys the company and also enjoys Penny not being able to screw up his schemes.”

So what makes him go all Misery on her? Of course, her cute actual nurse, Kent (guest star Matthew Del Negro).

“It’s actually a dark storyline,” Wilson told us. “Max poisons Penny and then tries to make out the masseuse. Penny crawls out of the window and passes out on the street and strangers find her. “

Penny won’t be in a body cast for too long though, trading it in for a helmet in subsequent episodes to prevent further head injury. Penny’s dream will come true later on the season when she gets a legitimate boyfriend, Pete (Nick Zano). The pair will meet in a bike shop.

And since she doesn’t want him to know about her injury, she told us Penny will “arrange a lot of dates that involve helmets. We do a moped safety course, segway stuff and a construction site.”

While Penny is recovering, Dave (Zach Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) will announce to the group that they’re “casually dating.”

To their surprise no one cares. “We are the ones making a big deal about it,” said Knighton. “They’re like ‘We don’t care, nobody cares about your stuff anymore.’” Though the on-screen couple told us, things won’t be casual for long as the two will look for a place together.

Meanwhile, Brad (Damon Wayans, Jr.) will be enjoying the unemployed life, or so Jane (Eliza Coupe) thinks. In the first episode back, we’ll see Brad feigning unemployment but by episodes end he’ll be enjoying it.

Wayans told us that unemployed Brad’s life will include “a lot of hanging out with Max.” He said, “They’ve had me do a lot of physical stuff this season and I am not upset about that.”

To which Coupe replied, “Neither is Jane. Eliza doesn’t hate it either.”

Jane will be getting a new job this season as a car dealer. “I deal cars with Rob Corddry,” she told us. But what can we expect at the dealership?

“There’s been a lot of weird things that happen at that dealership. A lot of things. Animals involved,” she teased. Expect to see tons of Jane’s Type-A personality as well. Coupe also said that we’ll see Jane “wanting to be one of the guys too. So it’s very interesting.”

Season 3 of Happy Endings will also feature the origin story of this group of friends on a well-known unaired season of The Real World, a major Thanksgiving episode and a “replacement Penny” of sorts named Nicole (Kulap Vilaysack) who he calls Nickel.

In a statement, network president Nina Tassler said, “Vegas and Elementary have opened strong, delivering big audiences and winning performances in important time periods.” The two shows are the  No.1 and No. 2 new series of the season both averaging more than 14 million viewers. Vegas airs Tuesdays at 10 PM and Elementary airs Thursdays at 10 PM. Glamour magazine’s Fashion Editor Louise Roe is joining NBC’s Fashion Star as host for Season 2. The journalist and sometimes host will be officially replacing Elle Macpherson in the role. In addition, fashion retailer Express is also teaming up with the series as a buyer in addition to current buyers Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. Roe previously hosted The CW’s makeover show Plain Jane. The second season of Fashion Star will air in Spring of 2013.[NBC]

Tuesday’s Season 2 premiere of ABC’s Don’t Trust the B**** in Apt. 23 will feature a guest appearance by Zack Morris himself, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, but that won’t be the only ABC comedy the actor is appearing on. Gosselaar will also pop up on Happy Endings as Max’s (Adam Pally) “new mysterious roommate,” Chase on Episode 10. The new seasons of Apt. 23 and Happy Endings premiere Tuesday at 8:30 PM and 9 PM, respectively, on ABC. Gosselar’s TNT show Franklin and Bash was recently renewed for Season 3. [EW]

Chuck‘s Adam Baldwin will replace Lost vet Titus Welliver on TNT drama pilot The Last Ship, after Welliver was forced to drop the show due to a family health issue. Actress Jane Fonda is set to star on a new ABC Comedy, currently titled Now What?, which is set to premiere in 2013. The show is from Pushing Daises writer Abby Gewanter and will be directed by Scott Ellis. The comedy will focus on a young girl who declares her hatred for her mother (Fonda) in a blog post. Wanting to work out their differences, the mother then moves in with her daughter and the hijinks ensure from there. The Oscar-winning actress most recently appeared on HBO’s The Newsroom and can be seen playing Nancy Reagan in Lee Daniels’ The Butler. [Variety]

As Max, the seemingly perpetually scheming, underemployed guy on ABC’s Happy Endings, actor and comedian Adam Pally has had a chance to tap into a really big, broad side of himself.

But as the seemingly perpetual single guy, he has also had a chance to play some more tender, serious moments. Who wasn’t shocked when Max realized he might actually want to have kids someday all while still acting like a big kid himself?

It’s exactly that kind of pulling from both ends of the human spectrum that keeps Pally on his toes, and the upcoming third season promises to be no different.

“I don’t think Max is ever balanced, and I think that’s the fun of playing him. You’re playing a character that’s unhinged, and…it’s really moment to moment. I think you’ll have highs and lows. A lot of highs but mostly lows,” Pally laughed when Celebuzz caught up with him at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Tuesday.

What’s the highlight of Happy Endings Season 3 for Pally?

On Season 3, Pally’s Max finds himself showing Brad (Damon Wayans Jr.) the ropes on how to get an entire day’s food and entertainment on as little money as possible. The pairing of these two characters turns into something slightly more permanent, though, through a new business venture that Pally was particularly excited to perform: Bar Mitzvah hype men!

“It’s an inner passion for me, Adam Pally,” he laughed. ”I’ve been to my fair share of Bar Mitzvahs, if you could’ve guessed, and it was really fun to go back to that a little bit. I would love to keep motivating for Bar Mitzvahs in my real life.”

Though Pally pointed out that Max doesn’t actually take the stage to sing at any of these Bar Mitzvahs, he would never want to rule out either a re-visitation of Mandonna or a parody of a whole other musical act.

“I love the attention on me, and there’s no other place to get attention than on stage,” Pally smiled. ”A dream of mine would be Max and Penny in some kind of weird White Stripes type band. I think all comedians have that inherent want to be a rock star but most of us are too ugly and fat, so to get the chance to be that was really fun.”

But with Max so distracted, will he ever find love?

“I think so. I think people [are] searching for love, and I think Max is no different. It’s just the people that he loves are a little weird,” Pally laughed.

There are still a few season premieres to come down the pike. And at least for ABC, perhaps they are saving the best for last.

Happy Endings and Don’t Trust The B in Apartment 23 are two outrageous comedies promising to deliver even more laughs on their third and second seasons, respectively. How do we know? Celebuzz got a sneak peek at the in-person chemistry between the casts at the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles.

Read on to see what’s coming up on each show and what Celebuzz thought was the best series scoop revealed.

Happy Endings is starting its third season with two of its key characters back in a relationship. Though the series started because Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) left Dave (Zachary Knighton) at the alter, Season 3 starts with them telling their friends — and family — they are back together.

“The first season, second season you see us not together, and it’s kind of a nice place to be [now],” Cuthbert pointed out. “You really get to see why they were a couple in the first place — because they’re crazy!”

To get a deeper look at just where that crazy may come from, we will also get to meet the elder Kerkoviches this season. Christopher McDonald and Julie Hagerty will guest star as Alex and Jane’s (Eliza Coupe) parents.

Not only will we get to see the similarities within the family — Alex gets her “love of meat and big, Serbian appetite” from her mother, apparently– but we’ll get to see them go head-to-head with each other in sure-to-be hilarious ways.

“Jane desperately wants to make dad laugh at a family function which has never happened,” series executive producer Jonathan Groff explained. “There is a face-off with Jane and Shooter McGavin!”

On the holiday episode, there is also a Kerkovich sister hip-hop dance-off, which Coupe praised Cuthbert for “basically taking the floor.”

And Brad (Damon Wayans Jr.) is out of work, so he is dabbling in puppetry (Sinbrad will be featured online in extra webisode specials that Groff revealed received quite a few Standards & Practices notes already for being “horribly offensive… to the brand”). He is also palling around with Max (Adam Pally) more, as Max is out to teach him how to live frugally. The two men join forces to become “bar mitzvah hype men” and end up getting into a bit of a “hype off” themselves.

“I have a deep well of knowledge to motivate,” Pally said. “It’s a skill. People are there to celebrate a boy becoming a man, and they’re kind of sad about it because their [baby] boy is going away.”

And then there’s Thanksgiving. Like Friends before it, Happy Endings is setting out to make iconic holiday episodes where this new kind of family all comes together to eat and celebrate from where they’ve come. In the case of Happy Endings, the gang came from… The Real World: Sacramento.

“I really love the flashback episode,” Casey Wilson shared. “We reveal we were all a part of the cast of The Real World: Sacramento, and it was an unaired season. It never aired, because I think someone burned down the house.”

Of course, Wilson also loves that Penny finally gets a boyfriend. ”Elisha and I– when we cast [Nick Zano as Penny's boyfriend] were running around the trailers yelling ‘A man is coming! A man is coming!’”

And he’ll be staying for awhile: “Penny gets into a relationship for 10 days, and she’s trying to give everyone else relationship advice.”

When it comes to Don’t Trust The B—- in Apartment 23, though, the two episodes right out of the gate for the season were painted as some of the biggest and funniest, per the cast and producers. The season premiere sees June (Dreama Walker) championing for a Dawson’s Creek reunion, but what she ends up getting is so much better, as it’s a compilation of a bunch of 90s stars, including additional teen heartthrob Mark-Paul Gosselaar.

“We use the Dawson’s stuff because it’s there but we also just go way left and make s–t up after awhile, and that’s actually where we have the most fun: our making up fake projects that I’ve never really done like Love Monster,” James Van Der Beek chuckled.

It’s a big moment for June as she not only gets to sit within touching distance of two of her childhood crushes, but it’s one in which she starts to realize some limits of her life.

“It’s important for people to know that June’s a badass,” Walker said. “It’s inside… She’s the kind of person who will be pushed and pushed and pushed and then be the person who brings the gun to the knife fight and that happens, not exactly, but a form of that this season.”

Don’t Trust The B—- in Apartment 23 is set up to push June but also James in the second episode, in which they deal with Halloween.

“I dress up as a lady Hobbit with hairy feet. But they were fake, so it was okay,” Walker laughed.

For the character of James, though, things are much darker. He hates being scared, and therefore hates the character because “his dad showed him Halloween on Christmas.” So, every year he uses the day to throw a “Positivity Party” and alternates between three “safe” costumes, including an angel, a bunch of grapes, and a candy corn.

“The evite for my annual Positivity Party that I throw every year is one of my favorite things,” Van Der Beek shared. “There’s Hello Kitty, a rainbow, and an ice cream sundae, and they all interact.”

One thing both shows could agree on, though? One of the Holmes ladies should make a guest appearance!

Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 has a whole storyline planned for Katie in which she plays a “demented version of herself” (per Van Der Beek) who hates James and hears he had some kind of accident or might be dead and “shows up in a red dress to celebrate his downfall.”

And Happy Endings may have nothing specific planned for Suri, but Pally was adamant they should at least try to get her!

“Or we’ll settle for Shiloh,” he laughed, proving those pop culture references the show drops are often ad-libs of his own.

Happy Endings premieres next Tuesday at 9 PM. Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 premieres right after at 9:30 PM — on ABC.

Jane (Eliza Coupe) may have to help out a bit more with the finances now that Brad (Damon Wayans Jr.) has been laid off. Enter Childrens Hospital actor Rob Corddry who’ll be playing a famous car dealership owner who appreciates Jane for her automobile know-how. [TVLine]

CNN anchor and Time magazine contributor Fareed Zakaria has been suspended by the two companies for plagiarism in a gun control article. Zakaria released a statement on Friday, saying it was “a terrible mistake. . . . It is a serious lapse and one that is entirely my fault.” He hosted CNN’s Fareed Zakaria GPS. [Washington Post]

Adam Pally — in a reflection of the occasionally vulnerable character he plays on ABC’s Happy Endings — sounds a bit wistful about going back to the work for the fall.

He spent lots of one-on-one bonding time with his first child, 7-month-old son, Cole, over the summer.

“I’ve actually gotten to spend so much time with my son, I’m nervous about going back to work,” Pally, 30, tells Celebuzz. “I was with him for most of the beginning of his life. So, now, it’s going to be weird to not be around him.”

Who will be a special guest on the ‘Happy Endings’ set this season?

Happy Endings is back into production for the 2012-2013 season — the season premieres in September.

Pally talked to Celebuzz at the recent Outfest screening of the show’s unaired episode from season 2, “Kickball 2: The Kickening,” in West Hollywood.

“I think my wife will bring him on the set,” says Pally, who shares a home in L.A. with wife Daniella. “He’s on the move now. He’s just started to crawl. Pseudo-walk. I’m sure there are a lot of dangerous things he could get into on set — that he would love to get into.”

Pally — joking — said about returning to work, “But also, I’m excited to not have to take care of an infant for a while. I’m like ‘Jesus Christ, does this ever end? It’s really hard.’ Daddy needs a drink.”

Pally, who plays the nuanced, conflicted gay character, Max, on Happy Endings, has been mentioned in Emmys buzz as a prominent snub in the Best Actor Comedy category, in addition to the show. Which could mean — if the show stays on the air — Pally is due next year.

Casey Wilson, who plays Penny, has also been singled out in the show for her effectiveness in the relationship comedy.

The show, which moves to a new time slot after Dancing with the Stars this fall, could be make-or-break time for its future.

Although initial reaction to the show was mixed, critics have lauded the show since.

“If you’re not watching ABC’s sophomore comedy, you’re missing the sharpest, funniest, giddiest show about six friends since that other show about six friends,” Entertainment Weekly‘s Dan Snierson wrote last December. “Here’s the ‘amahzing’ story of how a midseason afterthought became a word-of-mouth favorite.”

The lack of Emmy nominations for ABC’s Happy Endings is being taken in the stride by one of its stars.

“Those things are so hard to predict,” Adam Pally, aka the show’s main character, Max, told Celebuzz over the weekend. “I would love for the show to be nominated, because we don’t get a lot of promotion. I think it would have been really nice. But at same time, I’m such a big fan of everybody that got nominated. Max [Greenfield of New Girl] is a good friend of mine, especially. Bill Hader [of Saturday Night Live], I couldn’t be happier for. The Modern Family guys, I’m like, ‘Whatever.’ No, no, no. I love them. I am psyched for everybody.”

But not everyone is fine with the Happy Endings snub.

TV bellwether writer Michael Ausiello included two actors from the show, Damon Wayans, Jr. and Casey Wilson, on his list of Top 37 snubs in the Emmy nominations. Said Ausiello: “I’m super-pissed about no love for Cougar Town. Ditto for Happy Endings.”

Meanwhile, the show’s executive producer, Jonathan Groff, expressed his dismay.

“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed,” Groff said at a West Hollywood Outfest screening of an unaired, second-season episode called “Kickball 2: The Kickening.” At the July 22 event, Outfest honored the show for bringing attention to LGBT issues; Happy Endings has also been recognized by the GLAAD Media Awards.

“It’s nice to be part of the discussion,” Groff continued. “It’s nice that some people are saying we were snubbed. It’s cold comfort. But in terms of the best comedy, that’s a pretty power-packed lineup. There are a lot of good comedies on the air right now. To see Louie, Parks and Recreation, and Community not get nominated. To go, ‘You deserved it ahead of them.’ Maybe if there were 10, we could have been a part of that. I was a little bummed to see some of our actors not get nominated.”

Those thespians include Adam Pally and Casey Wilson.

“Honestly, I thought maybe Adam and Casey might pop one,” Groff said. “Because Adam’s character is so interesting. He’s done such a good job. We’ve given him more the snarky, edge, disheveled guy. But actually see him hurt in a relationship, and vulnerable. And Casey’s so funny.”

Zachary Knighton, meanwhile, who plays food truck owner Dave on Happy Endings, expressed his feelings about the show’s lack of Emmy nominations more bluntly.

“It’s not a surprise to me,” Knighton says. “It seems to me to be pretty obvious how that system works. We’ll see — maybe if we start bringing on some high-profile people, we’ll get nominated.”

Despite the Emmy snub, Happy Endings, which begins its third season on ABC this fall following Dancing with the Stars, has been nominated for several Critics Choice TV Awards, Teen Choice Awards and NAACP Image Awards.

Emmy nominees this year for Comedy Series include are The Big Bang Theory, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Girls, Modern Family, 30 Rock, and Veep. Best Comedy Actor nominees are Alec Baldwin, Don Cheadle, Louis C.K., Jon Cryer, Larry David, Bill Hader, and Jim Parsons.
