Young girls dressed up as some of today’s biggest icons like Michelle Obama, Beyonce, Anne Wintour, who also happen to be moms.

The date is set. Beyonce, Katy Perry, and Kelly Clarkson are all booked to perform. DC shopkeepers are rolling out the commemorative buttons and the parade floats have been designed. That leaves just one critical detail to be resolved for the inauguration: What will Michelle Obama wear to the 2013 Inaugural Ball?

Back in 2009 a little-known designer named Jason Wu made Mrs. Obama’s first inauguration dress. He was just 26 and a Parsons alum. The First Lady didn’t decide what she’d wear until that morning, and the designer didn’t realize his white one-shoulder creation would get the inaugural treatment until he saw it on TV.

With President Obama’s second inauguration festivities kicking off on Sunday with his official swearing in, the fashion world is buzzing about who the next designer will be to dress the First Lady this year.

What made Mrs. Obama’s first inaugural gown such a big deal — and why are we so excited to see what she wears tomorrow?

To highlight what a game-changer Mrs. Obama’s first inaugural gown — and the Isabella Toledo ensemble she wore to the actual inauguration — we’re putting her inaugural ensemble into context, with a look at how the ethereal white Jason Wu dress stood out from the inaugural fashion worn by First Ladies in the past.

Both Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush were double-term first ladies. They both went bright for their first inauguration (Clinton in bedazzled blue and Bush in sparkly red), and then toned it down with white gowns the second time around.

Considering that Mrs. Obama went white first, will she do the opposite and go for color this time? Maybe pink like she wore to the Democratic National Convention? And what about all those other first ladies from years past?

We’ve rounded up the best inaugural styles dating all the way back to the 1700′s. They’ve done lavender and yellow, sequins, fur and velvet (lots and lots of velvet). One first lady even wore a recycled garb.

Bottom line: It looks like Mrs.Obama’s gown will safely make it to the top of the best-dressed inaugural gown list in just about anything she chooses.

One of the world’s most powerful women is about to be the subject of an upcoming biopic.

According to Politico, Hillary Clinton’s biopic is in the works and already has a script completed by South Korean screenwriter Young Il Kim.

Kim told Politco that the movie is based on the “journey of a woman who was torn between her personal desires and her professional ambition.”

Kim adds that both of Clinton’s personal and professional loves “literally pulled her thousands of miles apart, because Bill did not want to leave Arkansas, and she did not want to leave Washington, D.C.”

The biopic, which is currently titled “Rodham,” is said to focus on the Secretary of State’s early career as an attorney on the House Judiciary Committee as well as her days as the First Lady of Arkansas.

But there’s more to Clinton than her keen political sense – which the film will show. The future flick will showcase some of her more humanizing moments, including a scene of her getting ready and applying makeup while singing to Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain.”

Temple Hill Entertainment, the same production company that produced The Twilight Saga, is set to produce the film.

The American Music Awards hit an all-time low in the ratings Sunday night with a 21 percent drop from last year and only 9.5 million viewers. As per usual, NBC’s Sunday Night Football helped the peacock network win the night with 15.8 million viewers. NFL overrun contributed to approximate numbers for CBS, but gave the network second place. [The Wrap]

Barbara Walters has chosen her most fascinating people of 2012 for her annual news special. This year, the veteran journalist will be talking with 50 Shades of Grey writer EL James, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Olympian Gabby Douglas, Academy Award winner Ben Affleck, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, boy band One Direction and 2013 Oscars host Seth MacFarlane. The 90-minute special will air Wednesday Dec. 12 at 9:30 PM on ABC. [ABC]

Bryan Fuller is surrounding himself with old pals on his midseason NBC show, Hannibal. Raul Esparza, who played Alfredo Aldarisio on Fuller’s Pushing Daises, has been cast as Dr. Chilton on Hannibal. The show, which is based on Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon, focuses on the relationship between FBI agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). Esparaza will appear on at least two episodes. [TVLine]

Season 3 of HBO’s Game of Thrones doesn’t premiere until March 31, 2013l, but fans will get a whole month to pour over the Season 2 DVD’s extras when the box set hits stores on Feb. 19, 2013 for DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download. Extras include a “Creating the Battle of Blackwater Bay” featurette and character profiles among other videos. The first season’s DVD is currently the top-selling TV home video release this year. Hillary Clinton turns 65 today, and to celebrate, we’re taking a look back at her much talked-about style over the years.

Though Clinton has stepped up her style since her headband-wearing White House days, she’s remained loyal to her signature standby: the pantsuit.

Not that she’s been afraid to mix it up — she’s done the power suit in just about every color.

From red and blue to green and basic black, Clinton’s pantsuit history spans the rainbow, and the former First Lady has gotten many, many miles out of the two-piece ensemble, mixing and matching tops and bottoms for flair.

While the Secretary of State and mom to Chelsea Clinton has many noteworthy professional and personal accomplishments, her wardrobe has gotten plenty of attention over the years.

So we love that Mrs. Clinton has never wavered from her signature pantsuit — despite facing plenty of commentary and criticism for her fashion choices over the years. Happy birthday, Madame Secretary — we salute you!

Since our nation’s founding, first lady fashion has captured the hearts and minds of their fans.

Decades before Mrs. Obama, there was Jackie O, whose pillbox hats, chic shifts, and signature bob continue to influence our fashion today. Long before that, during the roaring ’20s, Grace Coolidge was topping best-dressed lists for her stylish flapper fashion.

And before Mrs. Coolidge dazzled in sequined dresses and strings of pearls, President Abraham Lincoln’s wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, earned a reputation as a shopaholic, spending what, at the time, were considered lavish sums on upgrades to her wardrobe — and the White House.

It’s the wedding that everyone has been talking about: Chelsea Clinton wed Marc Mezvinsky on Saturday in Rhinebeck, New York.

The 30-year-old former First Daughter wore a dress designed by Vera Wang, as did her bridesmaids. Marc, 32, wore a tux designed by Burberry’s Christopher Bailey. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wore a frock designed by Oscar de la Renta, who designed most of Hillary’s infamous pantsuits.

Forget that little election everyone is talking about today—the real leader in this culture has been announced, and it’s none other than A-List Queen Nicole Kidman.

Yes, is the spirit of November election goings-on, Glamour magazine throws their hat in the ring with the annual announcement of their Women of the Year.

Topping the list for 2008 is new mom Kidman, celebrated for her activism on top of acting. The Australia star spoke to the mag regarding the tumultuous past few years, from a high profile divorce to a higher profile re-marriage.

“I’m in a place of gratitude and humility. I don’t take any of it for granted. I touch wood every day. The journey of life—we all go through it: You have love, you lose love, you find new love,” Kidman said.  “To have love again is a beautiful thing.”

Rounding out the list with Nic is the trailblazing Hilary Clinton, Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, mini-mogul Tyra Banks as well as athletes Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh.

Actress Gina Gershon is bristling that a recent Vanity Fair article implies she and Bill Clinton had a romantic liaison (using romantic in its loosest possible interpretation).

In a profile piece about Clinton, Todd S. Purdum hints at “more recent high-end Hollywood dinner-party gossip that Clinton has been seen visiting with the actress Gina Gershon in California.”

In response, the Showgirls thespian is demanding that the magazine print a retraction of the statement, which her rep claims is “absolutely false,” accusing Vanity Fair of “irresponsible journalism.”

“Ms. Gershon has only been in the same room as President Clinton on three occasions,” the documents state, “during which she was always in the presence of anywhere from a dozen people to several hundred or more.”

For his part, the former President has also lashed out at Purdum, labeling him “dishonest,” “sleazy,” “slimy” and a “scumbag.”

If Clinton truly did enjoy physical intimacy with Gershon, then he has certainly moved up in the world—sorry, Monica and Paula and Gennifer.
