Hopper died on Saturday at the age of 74 after battling prostate cancer for a year.

The memorial service took place a small chapel where his son, Henry Lee Hopper read from Walt Whitman‘s Leaves of Grass.

Nicholson remembered Hopper as his “soul mate” and “an all-around guy.” Nicholson was cast opposite Hopper in the counterculture classic Easy Rider.

After the service, Hopper’s simple wood coffin was taken away in a funeral procession that included about half a dozen motorcycles.

Hopper starred in such Hollywood classics as Easy Rider, Rebel without a Cause, Apocalypse Now, and Blue Velvet.

The bubbly blonde nineteen-year-old reminds us of other “hot” daughters of handsome (current or former) veteran leading men in Hollywood who have also taken a turn at the acting gig, either for a short while, or as a full time career themselves.
