Can Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal sing?

That is the question on everyone’s minds today after Deadline reported the hunky and perpetually bearded actors are up for roles in the upcoming movie-musical adaptation of Into the Woods.

The roles up for grabs: Cinderella’s Prince and Rapunzel’s Prince, respectively, though it is unclear which role would go to which actor. (At the very least, we know they’re good-looking enough to play princes.)

All eyes have been on Rob Marshall’s much-anticipated take on Stephen Sondheim’s beloved Broadway musical. Already, the project has landed Meryl Streep as The Witch, and Johnny Depp as The Wolf. Tony winner James Corden is said to be up for the coveted role of The Baker; Nina Arianda, another Tony winner, might get a part, too.

Whether or not this latest casting item will develop further remains unclear. But if it does, yeah, let’s hope they can sing, because the last time Meryl Streep starred in a movie-musical, not everybody could.

In honor of Mother’s Day, Celebuzz is taking a closer look at some of Hollywood’s most talented men and the amazing mothers who brought them into the world.

For actors like Leonardo DiCaprio and Bradley Cooper, bringing mom as a red carpet date to the latest award show or movie premiere isn’t anything out of the ordinary.

“She’s a cool chick,” Cooper told Details in its May 2013 issue, adding that he also lives with his mother. “We can hang. And she can roll with the punches. If that wasn’t the case, there’s no way.”

In the music world, Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber have always had a fan in their moms Lynn Harless and Pattie Mallette, respectively.

“Everybody knows I love #MyMom!,” Bieber wrote on Twitter this week, along with a plug for 1-800 Flowers.com. “Mother’s Day is on Sunday! Love your momma! Love u @pattiemallette.”

Drake is so close to his mom Sandi Graham, she had a cameo in his music video for “Started From The Bottom,” a song about the singer’s life before he made it big.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas in Hollywood and beyond!

On the same day a slew of female staffers on Capitol Hill gawked at (and were photographed doing it) Prince Harry on day one of his U.S. tour, it was business as usual in the world of Hollywood.

Chris Pine stopped by Good Morning America to promote Star Trek Into Darkness and all things Captain Kirk over the Big Apple. Later that day, the 32-year-old hunk suited up in a pinstripe number for an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman.

Elsewhere in New York City, Jake Gyllenhaal and his signature beard hit the red carpet for The Headstrong Project – “Words of War” event at IAC HQ. The benefit supports military vets through the arts — Gyllenhall and other stars performed theatrical readings of poetry and prose.

On the west coast, Sandra Bullock stepped out in her casual best to drop off her son Louis at school in Los Angeles, Britney Spears grabbed breakfast with her beau David Lucado in Westlake, while Kate Bosworth got all dolled up for a screening of her new film Black Rock in Hollywood.

Ahead of this month’s release of The Hangover Part III, The Hollywood Reporter today published an oral history of the wildly successful franchise. Among those interviewed include the stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis as well as producer/director Todd Phillips. The story contains several gems — including one about Heather Graham having to film a Hangover spoof for her agent’s son’s bar mitzvah, yikes — but nothing is quite as interesting as reading about how this surprise hit came together.

Given that neither Cooper nor Galifianakis were major stars when the first movie came out, it’s not really a surprise that they weren’t the first picks to play Alan and Phil. But what if it was Jake Gyllenhaal who was responsible for the group’s unremembered misadventures? Here’s who could have been in the Wolf Pack:

Phil Wenneck: According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Jack Black and Paul Rudd passed on the role of the booze-swilling teacher. There were also “others” who passed before the role eventually went to Bradley Cooper. Cooper recounts he got the role after having met Todd Phillips at an audition for Starsky & Hutch several years earlier.

Alan Garner: This role went through several rewrites before Galifianakis was cast. Initially intended to be a younger brother of the bride-to-be, both Jonah Hill and Jake Gyllenhaal were considered. After he was re-imagined as an older brother, Thomas Haden Church almost got the role.

Perhaps it’s because most people weren’t familiar with any of the stars before The Hangover, but it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing the infamous Wolf Pack.

The story also reports that the first Hangover movie earned Phillips nearly $70 million, so we know who’s buying drinks after the third and final movie’s premiere.

Listen up, Haylor devotees.

Taylor Swift and her closest pals opened up about her bitter breakup with Harry Styles, along with her infamous dating record, in the latest issue of Vanity Fair.

The country megastar dished about their whirlwind relationship which ended earlier this year, putting the blame on the 1D star’s wandering eye.

“[He] disappeared one night and after that it was like he just didn’t want to keep going,” a friend told the magazine.

After reportedly flirting at the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards, Swift had her doubts about dating Styles, especially after he allegedly kissed model Emma Ostilly during the early stages of their relationship. The 23-year-old put her interests on hold after the betrayal, despite his attempts to woo her back.

“[Harry] was all, like, ‘You’re amazing – I want to be with you. I want to do this,” the friend went on to reveal.

During that summer, Swift then briefly took interest in Conor Kennedy, venturing into a short-lived romance with the grandson of the late Robert F. Kennedy, but not before giving into Styles’ advances again.

The pair went public with their relationship in late 2012, even if the 1D star “wore her down” when she gave him a second chance. Things went sour for the couple after a heated fight in the Caribbean led to Swift’s early and solo departure during the romantic getaway. Swift ended things once and for all afterward.

Styles’ rep denies all of the claims.

Despite the scrutiny surrounding her highly-publicized love life, Swift swears “since 2010 I have dated exactly two people.”

“[T]he fact that there are slide shows of a dozen guys that I either hugged on a red carpet or met for lunch or wrote a song with. . . it’s just kind of ridiculous,” she said about her laundry list of rumored boyfriends, which includes Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer.

“It’s why I have to avoid the tabloid part of our culture, because they turn you into a fictional character,” she added.

The speculation over her ex-beaus heightened in January at the Golden Globes, when hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler memorably mocked her past relationships and advised Swift to stay away from Michael J. Fox‘s son Sam, who served as Mr. Golden Globe at this year’s ceremony. While she didn’t exactly address the incident, Swift subtly fought back against the comediennes’ remarks.

“You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people,” she said. “Because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, ‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.’”]

On Friday, Jack the Giant Killer stomps its way into theaters, bringing with it not only some statuesque monsters with a penchant for alliteration, but two great-looking leading men – Ewan McGregor and Nicholas Hoult – who do battle dressed like the sexiest Tin Men you’ve ever seen.

All of which reminded us: there have been a lot of heroic knights who made their armor shine particularly bright.

For the record, this list is by no means exhaustive – we elected not to include the timeless sexiness of Sean Connery, for example, since most of his work with a sword and shield took place during his septuagenarian years rather than back in the Bond days.

But we included Leonardo DiCaprio (Romeo + Juliet), Heath Ledger (A Knight’s Tale) and hunk du jour Channing Tatum (The Eagle) among many others, ensuring that readers find at least one fellow whose steel-clad silhouette is irresistible to them.

See that guy over there?  He kind of looks like… OMG!

Former exercise fanatic Jake Gyllenhaal may have admitted to taking a breather from hardcore workouts in the September issue of Details, but he’s getting back into a fitness frame of mind while filming his new thriller Prisoners in Atlanta, Celebuzz has learned.

In fact, the handsome leading man was spotted taking a spinning class at Fly Wheel Sports last Thursday.

“I took a class right after him and saw him coming out,” said eyewitness Sara Lett.

“He looked like he worked out hard. He was in shorts, sneakers, and a long-sleeve shirt with a baseball cap on. He wasn’t trying to hide from anybody.”

But that doesn’t mean Gyllenhaal was ready for his closeup.

“Someone asked him for a photo, but he declined,” Lett said. “I don’t blame him after such a workout.”

“In Atlanta it’s different because there’s no paparazzi and you tend to leave celebrities alone. But a few girls and I did talk about him when we saw him. I couldn’t believe it.”

An avid cyclist, the 32-year-old told Details last year that he hadn’t “cycled in a long time.”

“Do I take care of my body and take conditioning seriously? Yes. But exercising regularly doesn’t fit the energy of the character I’m playing now,” he said.

But that seems to have changed as he preps for his new role as a detective alongside Hugh Jackman. And he’s taking his workouts seriously – the super-hard exercise class even attracted NFL quarterback Tim Tebow three weeks ago.

Said Lett: “It’s 45 minutes of intense cycling — it’s grueling.”

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is being released this weekend, transforming the classic fairy tale into action-packed adventure. The film follows in the footsteps of such projects as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which found America’s 14th president battling bloodsuckers — and not the ones in Congress! — and falls in line with a spate of projects, including a long-discussed adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which turns classic literature, or even the stuff of history, into thrill rides for popcorn-munchers around the globe.

All of which led us to wonder — which of our favorite childhood stories could also be made into big-budget, high-concept hits? We flipped through a few of the yarns we loved as children and set our imaginations to work.

Unhindered by budgetary limitations or other such obstacles, we came up with seven stories that might make interesting moviegoing fodder, and included a shortlist of directors and stars who might be best-suited to bring them to life.

The Sundance Film Festival is in full swing this week, churning out buzz and hype for some of the films that mainstream audiences will hopefully not just be seeing later this year but celebrating with the same sort of passion and intensity that drove 2012 alum Beasts of the Southern Wild to multiple Academy Award nominations.

Only one of this week’s Blu-ray releases first appeared at Sundance, the wonderful documentary Searching For Sugar Man, but its release is a welcome reminder that films come in all sizes, and satisfy just the same, even without multimillion-dollar budgets or A-list movie stars.

Meanwhile, this week’s Buzz on Blu features a handful of films with some of those stars in smaller, more substantial roles, alongside releases that start their journey on home video en route to moviegoers’ hearts.

Death Race 3: Inferno (Universal Studios Home Entertainment)

The One-Liner: After Death Race 2 proved to be a pretty terrific follow-up to Paul W.S. Anderson’s remake, Luke Goss, Danny Trejo and Fred Koehler return for another adventure, this time set in South Africa, where Frankenstein is forced to do battle with an all-new slate of adversaries.

Picture Perfect? Shot digitally with director Roel Reine behind many of the cameras himself, the film looks terrific, and needs no adjustment on its journey to the smaller screen, offering a stylish, saturated visual landscape that lives up to anything theatrical.

What Else Is There? Several featurettes explore the South African locations and the shooting style of Reine, while the actors offer insights on how smartly they continue to explore their characters – even when they’re just holding on for dear life behind the wheel.

How Badly Do I Want It? As a threequel, your enjoyment may be mostly reliant on how familiar you are with the first two films, but it’s a worthy rental at the very least as it offers plenty of visceral thrills and some solid performances.

End of Watch (Universal Studios Home Entertainment)

The One-Liner: Jake Gyllenhaal takes a break from blockbusters and star vehicles for this gritty cop drama, co-starring Michael Pena.

Picture Perfect: Shot using a lot of handheld cameras in a found-footage style, the film exudes a sort of scruffy, improvised feel, which looks good on the small screen.

What Else Is There? Featurettes explore the creation of the world within the film, but David Ayer’s commentary track is the most revelatory, explaining how he constructed the film, and how he excluded as many clichés or contradictory ideas as possible.

How Badly Do I Want It? Another film worth renting, End of Watch made a lot of best-of lists for 2012, but it may not be one you’ll want or need to revisit often.

The Paperboy (Millenium Media)

The One-Liner: Lee Daniels’ follow-up to Precious is a sprawling decadent tale of sex and betrayal, featuring performances by John Cusack, Zac Efron, and an Oscar-nominated Nicole Kidman among others.

Picture Perfect? A solid transfer maintains Daniels’ oversaturated cinematography, giving the whole film an appropriately sweaty, decadent look.

What Else Is There? A featurette, interview with Daniels and behind-the-scenes materials explores how the filmmaker recruited so many talented people.

How Badly Do I Want It? An over the top, melodramatic little thriller, this movie certainly isn’t for everyone, but it’s worth watching at least once, if only to gawk in disbelief.

Searching For Sugar Man (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment)

The One-Liner: Malik Bendjelloul’s documentary follows a trail of breadcrumbs all the way to South Africa – and back — for this story of a failed ‘70s musician whose work is long overdue for rediscovery.

Picture Perfect? The transfer is great, but Bendjelloul’s visuals are mostly straightforward, requiring little but a sense of clarity and vividness; in other words, you won’t be disappointed.

What Else Is There? A commentary track featuring Bendjelloul and Rodriguez essentially gives away the mystery of whether or not the musician is still alive, but a pair of featurettes explores the back story beyond the filmmaker’s search, and showcases a recent Rodriguez performance.

How Badly Do I Want It? A tearjerking tale of artistry finally finding the recognition it deserves, this is an inspirational tale that will pep up any aspiring performer or creative type, so it might be good to have around permanently on those days when rejection notices come in the mail.

Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment)

The One-Liner: Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren return for yet another installment in this interminable franchise, this time starring up-and-comer Scott Adkins as the victim of a home invasion who discovers he’s part of a bigger conspiracy than he ever imagined – and we quite frankly can understand.

Picture Perfect? Although the film was presented in 3D at fantastic Fest in 2012, it’s only a 2D Blu-ray, but the picture quality is terrific, preserving director John Hyams’ ambitious if not fully successful visual style.

What Else Is There? Three making-of featurettes dig into the production, while a commentary track featuring Hyams and Lundgren offering an ongoing discussion of its conceptual complexities, although perhaps not necessarily answering all of the logistical obstacles that keep the film from, well, making total sense.

How Badly Do I Want It? By all accounts this is a marked improvement from its predecessor, so if you’re a fan of the series this one’s a must-see, but otherwise it might be a good second feature after Death Race 3, if for no other reason than as a reminder that some direct-to-DVD releases are not as good as others.

From Charlton Heston’s vision of white in The Ten Commandments to Johnny Depp’s braided version in Pirates of the Caribbean, beards have been around for a long time in Hollywood.

But when it comes to who can rock the scruffy look the best these days, the list is exclusive.

Whether it’s a walk on the red carpet or a trip to the supermarket, Ryan Gosling has mastered the art of not shaving. So has Justin Timberlake, whose facial hair is more of a thick stubble look than a full-on beard.

Jason Schwartzman recently grew a real deal beard for the new Roman Coppola film, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III, opposite longtime beard lover Bill Murray.

“I’ve never had one quite this large before,” Schwartzman told Jimmy Fallon on Late Night when he was shooting the movie.

“It’s like a sponge. I have a ShamWow on my face . . . I have a BeardWow. But I love it, and it’s for work.”

At this year’s Golden Globe Awards, Ben Affleck and his beard took home two trophies — one for Best Director and one for Best Picture — for his film Argo.

Taylor Swift shouldn’t have any “Trouble” writing songs for her next album.

Just days after splitting from One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles, the 23-year-old country crooner teased fans by confirming her return to the drawing board.

“Back in the studio. Uh oh,” she wrote last Thursday.

Styles, 18, is the latest to join an exes exclusive club that includes the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Lautner and Swift’s last potential muse, Connor Kennedy – her beau from last summer.

Movember may be winding down, but don’t expect the moustache craze to end anytime soon: a slew of Hollywood’s leading men, from doting dads Ben Affleck and Brad Pitt to eligible bachelors Ryan Gosling and Colin Farrell, have all sprouted staches.

And they’re not just doing it for Movember, aka the month of November when many guys grow moustaches to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer.

Not that it isn’t an excellent idea — the men who purposely sport staches in Movember (or Mo Bros, as they’re commonly called) solicit donations from sponsors during the “growing” process. Movember, in combination with the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, then uses the funds to support awareness and education, survivorship and research.

If you haven’t had time to study the liner notes of Taylor Swift‘s new album, rest assured: Celebuzz has done it for you. As part of her long-standing tradition, Swift often places hidden messages in her album’s liner notes — and Red is no exception. Some are obvious, while others need a bit more investigating.

“This album is about the other kinds of love that I’ve recently fallen in and out of,” Swift, 22, writes on the album. “Love that was treacherous, sad, beautiful, and tragic. But most of all, this record is about love that was red.”

Here are our best guesses as has as to who, exactly, Swift is singing about on each and every one of her new songs — all 16 of them!

1. State Of Grace

Hidden message: LOVE DOESN’T COUNT AFTER GOODBYE

Who: Jake Gyllenhaal

Lyrical clues:  ”Just twin fire signs, four blue eyes”

Both Gyllenhaal and Swift are blue-eyed Sagittariuses, which happens to be one of the three fire signs. Given the sweeping sound of “State of Grace,” it sounds like the pair’s short romance was anything but a meaningless fling.

2. Red

Hidden message: SAG

Who: Jake Gyllenhaal

Lyrical clues: “Passionate as sin, ended so suddenly… Like the colors in autumn”

Swift and her actor beau only dated briefly, from October 2010 (other wise known as autumn) to January 2011. The singer’s hidden message, “SAG,” could stand for Sagittarius or Screen Actors Guild — both of which are good descriptors for Gyllenhaal.

3. Treacherous

Hidden message: WON’T STOP UNTIL IT’S OVER

Who: John Mayer

Lyrical clues: “Until the gravity’s too much/ And I’ll do anything you say/ If you say it with your hands”

Swift’s hidden message could easily reference Mayer’s harsh remarks toward “Dear John” and her songwriting choices in Rolling Stone. “It made me feel terrible,” he said. “Because I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”

However, Swift’s message to Mayer seems pretty clear: She won’t stop writing until this heartache is over. Swift also references two of Mayer’s tracks in “Treacherous”: “Gravity” and “Your Body is a Wonderland”, in which Mayer sings, “Your body is a wonderland/ I’ll use my hands.”

4. I Knew You Were Trouble

Hidden message: WHEN YOU SAW ME DANCING

Who: Harry Styles

Lyrical clues: “A new notch in your belt is all I’ll ever be… And the saddest fear comes creeping in/That you never loved me or her or anyone or anything”

Back in April — before Conor Kennedy — Swift had a reported fling with One Direction’s resident womanizer. Swift was allegedly heartbroken when she saw photographs of Styles, 18, and American model Emma Ostilly on a date in Auckland on April 20. Swift’s reference to dancing could be a nod to her enthusiastic cheering during One Direction’s performance during the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards back in March.

5. All Too Well

Hidden message: MAPLE LATTES

Who: Jake Gyllenhaal

Lyrical clues: “Left my scarf there at your sister’s house… Oh your sweet disposition”

This one is just too easy. Not only does Swift’s secret message point toward her and Gyllenhaal’s favorite coffee date drink, but the song also mentions his older sister Maggie and their apple-picking adventures in upstate New York. Oh, and one of Gyllenhaal’s favorite bands is Temper Trap (ahem, “Sweet Disposition”).

Hidden message: ASHLEY DIANNA CLAIRE SELENA

Who: Her BBFs: Ashley Avignone, Dianna Agron, Claire Callaway and Selena Gomez.

Swift’s fun, flirty “22″ is an ode to being young and a nod to her BFFs.

7. I Almost Do

Hidden message: WROTE THIS INSTEAD OF CALLING

Who: Owl City’s Adam Young

Lyrical clue: “I bet this time of night you’re still up”

On Swift’s last album, Speak Now, she penned the track “Enchanted” for Young. Too shy to call her back, he crafted a response in the form of a cover of “Enchanted.”

“Dearest Taylor,” he wrote. “I’ll be the first to admit I’m a rather shy boy and since music is the most eloquent form of communication I can muster, I decided to record something for you… This is what I wanted so badly to tell you in person but could never quite put into words.” However, Young says he never got a response from the country-pop singer.

So it makes perfect sense that she would follow that up with another song — with the message, “Wrote this instead of calling.” Also, Swift sings, “I bet this time of night you’re still up,” which could be a nod to Young’s insomnia.

8. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

Hidden message: WHEN I STOPPED CARING WHAT YOU THOUGHT

Who: Will Anderson

Lyrical clues: “And you, will hide away and find your piece of mind with some indie record that’s much cooler than mine”

Swift dated the Parachute frontman — an indie rock enthusiast with a wide array of Ray Ban glasses — on-and-off in December 2011.

9. Stay Stay Stay

Hidden message: DAYDREAMING ABOUT REAL LOVE

Hidden message: L.A. ON YOUR BREAK

Who: Jake Gyllenhaal

Lyrical clues: “And all the times I let you in/ Just for you to go again/ Disappear when you come back/ Everything is better”

It looks like Gyllenhaal and Swift had some kind of on-and-off-again crazy beautiful romance given the amount of tracks he inspired. With his filming schedule, Gyllenhaal could have easily met with Swift “in L.A. on his break,” so the hidden message points toward the actor.

11. Holy Ground

Hidden message: WHEN YOU CAME TO THE SHOW IN S.D.

Who: Joe Jonas

Lyrical clues: “Well I guess we fell apart in the usual way/ And the story’s got dust on every page/ Sometimes I wonder how you think about it now/ And I see your face in every crowd”

The book is certainly closed when it comes to Swift’s romance with Jonas. That relationship has already inspired three of Swift’s hits — “Forever and Always,” “Last Kiss” and “Better Than Revenge.” But “Holy Ground” represents a young woman finally at peace with her first love.

Back in 2008, Swift flew to New York to be with her JoBro while they filmed a segment for the Jonas Brothers’ 3-D concert movie. “We had this big wide city all to ourselves,” she sings, which could easily refer to her and Joe’s time in the Big Apple together. Also, Swift’s secret message is a reference to Joe being spotted at two of Swift’s concert in L.A. and San Jose. Could the middle Jonas have snuck into her show in San Diego as well? All signs point to yes.

12. Sad Beautiful Tragic

Hidden message: WHILE YOU WERE ON A TRAIN

Who: John Mayer or Jake Gyllenhaal

Lyrical clues: “Good girls, hopeful they’ll be and lonely will wait”

Only Mayer would travel by train. Isn’t that what Shadow Days is all about? And Swift’s reference to “good girls” could be a nod to Mayer’s now-famous cover of Tom Petty‘s “Free Fallin’.” Also, “Sad Beautiful Tragic” pretty much sums up the entirety of Mayer and Swift’s ill-fated romance.

However, “While you were on a train” could also refer to Gyllenhaal’s film, Source Code, which he filmed while dating Swift. Perhaps “Sad Beautiful Tragic” was written as a culmination of Swift’s past heartaches.

13. The Lucky One

Hidden message: WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO KNOW

Who: Joni Mitchell

Lyrical clues: “It was a few years later, I showed up here/ And they still tell the legend of how you disappeared/ How you took the money and your dignity, and got the hell out”

Swift is set to play her idol, Joni Mitchell, in an upcoming, albeit top-secret, biopic (i.e. “Wouldn’t you like to know). Mitchell retired from the spotlight years ago, choosing the “Rose Garden over Madison Square.” Swift has not only called Mitchell one of her idols, but she’s also one of her songwriting inspirations.

14. Everything Has Changed

Hidden message: HYANNIS PORT

Who: Conor Kennedy

Lyrical clues: “And all I’ve seen since 18 hours ago is green eyes and freckles and your smile in the back of my mind making me feel right”

This duet with Ed Sheeran is obviously about her current boyfriend Conor because the hidden message is “Hyannis Port.” Hyannis Port just so happens to be where the Kennedy Compound is located — and where Swift just purchased a home. Sheeran and Swift sing, “I just wanna know you better,” on the chorus, and the singer-songwriter will definitely get to know her beau better when she moves in right across the street. Also, the song mentions green eyes, which wouldn’t you know, is the same eye color of the young Kennedy.

15. Starlight

Hidden message: FOR ETHEL

Who: Ethel Kennedy

Oh boy. Now Swift has even penned a song for her beau’s grandmother Ethel. “I met Bobby [Kennedy] on the boardwalk, summer of ’45.” The song, written from Ethel’s perspective, is an ode to young love, dancing like “we’re made of starlight,” and having “10 kids” (Ethel and Bobby actually had 11 kids) and teaching them “how to dream.” Adorable or creepy? We’re not quite sure.

16. Begin Again

Hidden message: I WEAR HEELS NOW

Who: Will Anderson / Conor Kennedy

Lyrical clues: “I’ve been spending the last 8 months/ Thinking all love ever does/ Is break and burn and end”

The Parachute frontman — you know, the indie rock enthusiast –wasn’t Swift’s tallest ex, so if we had to guess which former flame had an issue with Swift’s height, we’re going to say it was Anderson. That fling fizzled in January 2012, but things between Swift and Kennedy started heating up in August 2012 — “eight months” after her last breakup. “And you throw your head back laughing/ Like a little kid,” could be a reference to Kennedy’s age. After all, he’s three years her junior. Plus, it’s seems only natural that Swift would conclude her album with a nod to her current love.

Halloween fever started early this year as Adam Sandler’s Hotel Transylvania shot to the top of the box office over the weekend.

Scaring up solid opening-weekend grosses of $34 million, the film more than doubled the returns of its next-highest competition.

That said, Rian Johnson’s Looper , which stars Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt, recouped more than two thirds of its reported $30 million budget with a haul of $21.2 million, an impressive showing that gives the filmmaker a commercial cache to match his critical bona fides.

What sort of returns did ‘Pitch Perfect’ produce?

Although Pitch Perfect came in at Number Six with a gross of $5.2 million, Universal’s music-themed movie did well in the context of its $17 million price tag, making it a minor success.

Meanwhile at Number Three, Jake Gyllenhaal’s End of Watch continues to perform solidly, earning $8 million and bringing its two-week tally to more than $26 million.

Trouble with the Curve, starring Clint Eastwood, Justin Timberlake and Amy Adams took home $7.5 million, landing it at Number Four and bringing its cumulative total to $23.7 million after just two weeks.

And Jennifer Lawrence’s House at the End of the Street followed at Number Five, earning another $7.1 million and bringing its theatrical gross to date to $22.2 million.

Jake Gyllenhaal shaves his head, Michael Pena bites the bullet, and writer-director David Ayer does what he’s been doing for years, delivering gritty tales about the ‘thin blue line that separates the prey from the predator’ on the posy-strewn paths of South-Central Los Angeles.

End Of Watch employs a pseudo-documentary style that amps up the action scenes, but ultimately, riding along Officers Taylor  (Gyllenhaal), and Zavala (Pena) is a bit of a drag.

Having grown up on the streets of South Central Los Angeles, Ayer has developed through relationships with both policemen and gangsters what he calls the ‘I-can-write-about-cops’ gene, as evidenced in his Oscar-winning Training Day and others in the genre like Street Kings and Dark Blue.

What is there to watch in Gyllenhaal’s latest?

With End Of Watch, Ayer tuns his lens on familiar territory capturing the on-duty hours of two patrol cops.

Shot in hyper-realistic style, he uses surveillance cameras, lipstick-cams, dash-cams and hand held cameras under the pretense that Taylor is studying filmmaking on the side and is recording his patrol as part of a project. Not that it couldn’t happen, but it sounds like something you’d see in a movie.

And Jake Gyllenhaal looks like someone you’d see in a movie — which is ironic considering his presence belies the elaborate low-budget/ripped-from-reality look Ayers so diligently affects.

What good is convincing us it’s real if you put a famous movie star front and center? The answer is the movie star draws the financing, and without him the movie doesn’t get made.

On patrol day after day, events unroll with the bare semblance of a plot as Taylor and Zavala cruise around talking about girlfriends, wives, work and just about everything else.

The two actors affect an easy rapport with the rhythms and structures of real conversation. While it feels extemporaneous, according to Ayer the dialogue in the movie is delivered as written with minimal ad-libbing.

The guys soon run afoul of a crime lord named Big Evil who, when asked why he’s called Big Evil, responds with the movie’s best line – “Because my evil… is big.” It’s a sentence that says practically nothing but still says it all.

Evil is tied to the Sinaloa cartel, one of Mexico’s deadliest, and it’s not long before Taylor and Zavala stumble into a hornet’s nest beyond any hope of escape.

While Ayer and his cast demonstrate a thorough understanding of their subject, and their movie features realistic violence and casual callousness, End Of Watch doesn’t really go anywhere.

It’s essentially hanging out with a pair of blunt and dimwitted cops who curse a lot and occasionally have fights, car chases and shootouts – after awhile it loses its charm.

Anna Kendrick drops in for a couple of scenes as Taylor’s girlfriend as if to remind us that he is not, in fact, married to Zavala in the movie. And America Ferrera has a cameo as a fellow cop, but if you blink you’ll miss her.

Gyllenhaal and Pena did five months of preparation for the shoot – ride-alongs with cops, fight training in an Echo Park gym, weapons work on the firing range – and it all appears authentic on the big screen.

But with sketched-in characters and thematic elements that tell us little more than “it’s tough out there on the streets,” End Of Watch is dismissible as a tonally unique but otherwise forgettable cop movie.

It’s a battle of the box office heavy-hitters as Jennifer Lawrence and Jake Gyllenhaal‘s latest movies hit the silver screen.

Whether you’re in for a good scare or a action-packed cop drama, House at the End of the Street and End of Watch both promise to deliver the thrills — and the stars.

What are these movies about? Celebuzz is breaking it down in this week’s Box Office Battle.

Featuring Lawrence and fellow Oscar nominee Elisabeth Shue, House at the End of the Street revolves around a mother-and-daughter duo who moves next door to a house with a blood-chilling past.

My Soul to Take actor Max Theriot rounds out the cast as the mysterious neighbor who still lives in the abode where his parents were brutally murdered by his sister.

Meanwhile, Gyllenhaal gets gritty in his latest drama, End of Watch.

Also starring Michael Pena and Anna Kendrick, the movie follows two Los Angeles Police Department officers who becomes the target of a local drug cartel when they make a big bust.

Gyllenhaal dove into the role of Police Officer II Brian Taylor, telling Celebuzz that he witnessed a drug-related gang shooting while riding with LAPD as a part of his research.

“One gang member was walking down the street and another one was pulling out of his car and it was having to do with some issues between two different sects of a gang,” he recalled.

“I had no idea what to expect when I went on the first ride along.”

He is best known for playing the missing groom in the debauched movie The Hangover but Justin Bartha is hoping his new TV role will get people talking too.

The heterosexual star, 34 – who once dated Ashley Olsen – is proud to have landed the role as a gay man on the NBC show, The New Normal.

But he isn’t the only straight male celebrity who has played a homosexual, in fact Celebuzz has created an impressive list of A-listers who rocked a gay role.

He’s good looking, rich and successful — and he’s also sensitive.

Jake Gyllenhaal‘s softer side is being revealed by the director of his newest film, End of Watch. In fact, David Ayer says that the heartthrob’s personality is exactly what landed him the job.

What did he reveal about the A-lister?

“I’ll be honest — he’s sensitive,” Ayer said on the red carpet of the cop flick’s premiere in Los Angeles. “He has a great heart, he’s a fantastic guy and that’s exactly why I wanted him to do this role.”

“I didn’t want the standard issue leading man kind of guy. I wanted somebody with soul.”

In the film, 31-year-old Gyllenhaal and actor Michael Pena play police officers who are marked for death by a Mexican cartel after a routine traffic stop. Ayer also wrote the gritty police film Training Day.

End of Watch – which also stars Anna Kendrick and America Ferrera –  hits theaters on September 21.

Cody Horn, 24, didn’t witness a murder during her police training like her co-star Jake Gyllenhaal, 31, did, but she did witness one major automotive incident. The Magic Mike star trained in preparation for her film End of Watch with America Ferrera, 28, and during a ride-along they were caught in the crosshairs of Grand Theft Auto.

Horn told Celebuzz, “It was interesting, in our ride there was a stolen vehicle so we got to be a part of that.”

What did Horn accidentally let slip on the red carpet?

Horn wasn’t too shaken up after the ordeal, but she did learn one thing from the experience: “To pay attention to detail.”

The actress seemed more nervous on the red carpet than in a police uniform. She mistakenly told another reporter at the premiere that she was at the Magic Mike premiere.

Channing Tatum already confirmed in July that there would be a Magic Mike sequel to Glamour U.K. and added that he and producers are “working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger.”

When Celebuzz asked Horn if she would be in the sequel she replied, “I hope we can pull it together, that would be fun but I don’t know anything yet.”
