With just hours to go before one of television’s most anticipated interviews in years, Lance Armstrong is facing an overwhelming amount of criticism for his confession to Oprah Winfrey that he used performance-enhancing drugs.

On Thursday, the International Olympic Committee joined the growing list of organizations looking to distance themselves from Armstrong. The IOC officially stripped him of the bronze medal he won at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, telling him to return it. Armstrong was previously stripped of his seven consecutive Tour de France titles by the International Cycling Union.

Along with being stripped of medals and titles, Armstrong also stands to get hit where it hurts — his bank account. “He could face a slew of lawsuits for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, for you name it,” HLN host Jane Velez-Mitchell tells Celebuzz.

The United States Postal Service, which sponsored Armstrong’s team from 1998-2004, is almost certain to be one of those organizations lining up to recoup some of the $30 million they paid the disgraced cyclist.

Armstrong has also lost his endorsement deals with the likes of Nike, Oakley, Dasani, Bristol Myers, The Discovery Channel, Michelob, Subaru, and others. In 2009, Forbes estimates Armstrong was earning around $20 million a year.

“Then, there is the ultimate court, the court of public opinion,” Velez-Mitchell points out. “Are Americans and people around the world going to forgive and forget now that he’s come clean?”

“Let’s remember his years of steadfast denial in the face of rumors and outright accusations. Let’s remember all the other riders in those seven Tour de France races and all of the people who were standing on the sidelines, only to have someone — who now turns out to be a fraud — win.

“It’s an absolute fiasco on an unprecedented scale in the world of sports, and ultimately Lance Armstrong will have to answer to people in the United States and around the world.”

Now that Lance Armstrong has admitted that he used performance-enhancing drugs throughout his once decorated cycling career, we’re asking what’s next?

Earlier this year, the disgraced cyclist was stripped of seven consecutive Tour de France titles and barred by the United States Anti-Doping Agency for life from Olympic sports.

This is just the beginning of Armstrong’s troubles though.

The 41-year-old will likely have to return some of the millions of dollars that he’s received from sponsors over his career, including taxpayer dollars from the United States Postal Service. USPS sponsored the cyclist from 1998-2004 and paid him more than $30 million.

Along with lying to USPS officials, Armstrong may also be facing criminal charges for lying under oath in a 2006 deposition in which he denied ever using performance-enhancing drugs. The deposition was for a suit that Armstrong brought against a Dallas insurance company who withheld a bonus from him, citing the doping allegations at the time.

In an exclusive interview with Celebuzz, Betsy Andreu, the wife of Armstrong’s former teammate and one-time friend, Frankie Andreu, said, “I believe that the authorities should open a full criminal investigation into Lance Armstrong.”

Shortly before sitting down for his interview with Oprah Winfrey on Monday, Armstrong met with his Livestrong staff and gave an emotional apology telling the staff, “I’m sorry.”

It has been revealed that Kate Middleton’s nurse, Jacintha Saldanha, blamed the Australian DJs who prank called her and officials at London’s King Edward VII hospital in her suicide notes.

The 46-year-old nurse, who was found hanging by a scarf on Dec. 7, reportedly left behind three notes, addressing the prank call and her funeral arrangements.

Saldanha’s suicide came just days after Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their pregnancy and the Duchess was hospitalized with acute morning sickness.

More than 2,000 people paid their respects to Saldanha at a Catholic funeral service in Shirva, India on Monday. Saldanha is survived by her husband, Ben Barboza, and two children, Junal, 17, and Lisha, 14. At the service, Barboza spoke of his wife saying, “I feel a part of me has been ripped out.”

Since Saldanha committed suicide, the Australian DJs, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, who orchestrated the hoax, have apologized but remain in hiding following death threats.

Within an hour of the prank, the DJs reportedly called the nurse back to tell her that the call would be broadcast, according to The Daily Mail. Saldanha allegedly wrote in her suicide notes that she held the DJs responsible and also criticized two hospital officials for their actions. The hospital has said that they supported Saldanha after the hoax.

Should Lindsay Lohan return to rehab again? Or, do you think she deserves to go to jail for allegedly lying about not being behind the wheel during the June car crash?

HLN host, Jane Velez-Mitchell, weighed in on Lindsay’s latest troubles, telling Celebuzz: “There is a saying in sobriety, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

“Lindsay has already been to rehab five times and some would claim, even though she says she’s sober, that it’s not working very well,” she added.

“I think to send her to rehab again might be more of the same.”

The ‘Liz & Dick’ actress faces criminal charges on both coasts. On Nov. 29, Lohan was formally charged in California with three misdemeanors after allegedly lying to police about whether she was behind the wheel at the time of a June car crash.

On the same day, Lohan was involved in a fight outside of Avenue nightclub in New York City resulting in her being arrested and charged with third degree assault.

Said the HLN host: “This is a woman who has been before at least four judges, twenty court appearances, or something like that, yet despite all of the drama-rama, she’s done less than two weeks behind bars. We’re talking about DUI, cocaine, necklace theft, and there’s the high speed chase too. If anybody else had done all of that, they might be behind bars much longer than two weeks.”

“What I think she needs some kind of lockdown, whether it’s jail or rehab, I don’t know. But, it can’t be one of these fabulous rehabs that are like a hotel. If, in fact, she has violated her probation, I think she finally needs to do some hard time. And, I think as a complement to that hard time, do 12 step meetings.”

What a week in the life of Lindsay Lohan.

The week began with Lohan facing brutal reviews from critics and viewers alike for her unintended comedic performance as Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s ‘Liz & Dick.’

It ended with the 26-year-old actress being formally charged on Nov. 29 with three misdemeanors after allegedly lying to police about her role in a June car accident. Lohan had claimed that she was not driving at the time of the accident and pinned the blame on her assistant, who was later cleared of any wrongdoing.

These new charges mean that Lohan’s 2011 probation stemming from a conviction for shoplifting in Venice, Calif. will be automatically revoked.

On Nov. 29, Lohan found herself in more hot water with law enforcement, this time in New York City where she reportedly punched a woman outside of Avenue nightclub. It has been rumored that the two got into a fight after Lohan became jealous that The Wanted singer, Max George, was paying more attention to the woman.

Aside from her legal headaches, Lohan is also in trouble with the IRS, who have reportedly seized all of her bank accounts. TMZ reports that Lohan owes the IRS $233,904 for unpaid taxes from 2009 and 2010, along with additional unpaid taxes in 2011. Actor Charlie Sheen gave Lohan $100,000 to help dig her out of her self-inflicted financial hole.

Given all of this turmoil in her life, it is no surprise that Lohan is rumored to be drinking heavily again, possibly as much as two liters of vodka per day. Friends are said to be urging her to go back to rehab, but she denies that she has a problem.

Do you think it’s right for Gabriel Aubry to not be allowed to see his daughter following the Thanksgiving day fight? Should Halle Berry be able to move to France with her and Aubry’s daughter, Nahla?

Following the brutal brawl on Nov. 22 between Berry’s ex, Aubry, and fiancee Olivier Martinez, a judge has issued a permanent restraining order for Aubry against Martinez. A temporary restraining order, set to expire on Nov. 29, is currently in place also keeping Aubry at least 100 yards from Berry, Martinez, and 4-year-old Nahla, which Aubry fought on Nov. 27 to have lifted, but the judge denied his request.

For more insight into the custody battle brewing between Berry and Aubry, Celebuzz turned to HLN host, Jane Velez-Mitchell, who digs into the legal aspects of the case and whether Berry should be allowed to move to France with Nahla.

“No, she should not be allowed to just move to France and a judge reportedly agreed with my position. You can’t just pick up and take off with your child and expect the other person, the ex, to follow you wherever you’re going. That’s not fair,” said Velez-Mitchell.

“Gabriel has reportedly said he’s always wanted 50/50 custody and Halle Berry wanted primary custody. You have to ask yourself, is that fair to a child to say ‘honey, you should not have access a good percentage of time to your own dad?’”

Both Aubry and Martinez suffered injuries as a result of the violent fight and were taken to the ER after the brawl. Aubry’s attorney has since released photos of the 36-year-old model with black-and-blue bruises and swelling to both eyes, while Martinez was seen exiting Cedars Sinai Medical Center in L.A. on Nov. 27 with a brace on his right hand.

“This is an abomination for three adults to be behaving this way over a four-year-old child. She seems like the adult in this situation. This has got to leave her very traumatized,” Velez-Mitchell said, adding they need to start acting like adults for the sake of their young daughter.

“The only way these three adults can clean up this mess is stop being narcissists and start thinking about the child first, not where you want to live, but what is best for this child. What is best for this child is to have peace between her mommy and daddy.”

Halle Berry had anything but a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday, as Celebuzz previously reported.

On Nov. 22, Halle’s ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, was dropping off their four-year-old daughter, Nahla Ariela Aubry, at the Cloud Atlas star’s home in Los Angeles when a fight broke out between Aubry and Berry’s fiance, Olivier Martinez.

Aubry, 37, and Martinez, 46, were both taken to the ER for minor injuries with Aubry sustaining a nasty black eye while Martinez injured his hand. Aubry was later arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery. He was released on $20,000 bail, but is due back in court on Dec. 13.

Berry, 46, is reportedly going to court early this week seeking a permanent restraining order against Aubry. A temporary restraining order is currently keeping Aubry at least 100 yards away from Berry, their daughter Nahla, and Martinez.

This fight between Aubry and Martinez is just the latest in a nasty feud between the two, which has been exacerbated in recent months by a judge denying Berry’s request to move to France with her and Aubry’s daughter.

On-again, off-again couple Chris Brown and Rihanna rekindled their romance once again on Halloween in West Hollywood, Calif., where RiRi was crowned the Queen of the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval.

The two were joined by Brown’s mom, Joyce Hawkins, who partied with the pair until the wee hours of the morning at Greystone Manor, according to a source who spoke to Celebuzz.

“She [Brown’s mom] kept hugging Rihanna all throughout the night,” said the onlooker. “At one point Rihanna put her head on his mom’s shoulder and his mom kissed her head.” Rihanna and Brown’s mom were also spotted grabbing dinner together in Beverly Hills on Oct. 26.

This comes just weeks after Rihanna’s dad, Ronald Fenty, said that he’d like to see the two get married. “Whatever makes her happy. I hope one day she will get married,” he told Life & Style. “Everyone adores Chris; he’s a super guy.”

Meanwhile, less than 24 hours after partying with Rihanna on Halloween, Brown appeared in court before a judge to report the progress of his probation stemming from his brutal assault on Rihanna back in 2009. He remains on five-year probation for the assault and is due in court again on Jan. 17.

It seems Lindsay Lohan‘s family drama is a never-ending saga.

In the latest episode, the actress battled with mom Dina Lohan in a tear-strewn, late-night spat on Oct. 10. After her profanity-filled phone conversation with father Michael Lohan from the night of the heated brawl suspiciously surfaced, Lindsay was left fuming. “He doesn’t know what it means to be a father,” she told TMZ, adding that the leak may have been “the last straw for him.”

Then Dina reportedly encouraged her daughter to take legal action against her father. Dina suggested Lindsay seek a permanent protection order, prohibiting Michael from contacting the Liz & Dick star through any medium, including phone calls, texts or e-mails. But sources tell the site that Lindsay is ignoring her mother’s pleas in a bit to avoid airing her family’s dirty laundry in the courtroom.

Is that the right move for the ever-embattled actress?

“I don’t know that filing a protection order against [Michael] is really the answer,” said HLN host Jane Velez-Mitchell, after addressing questions in Celebuzz’s #AskJane video feature. “Especially because reportedly that’s Dina’s idea.” But “Dina and Michael have shown their true colors and shown essentially that their behavior is immature. I like Michael Lohan. I’ve talked to him. He tells me he’s sober. I don’t think he has a malicious bone in his body, but some of the decisions that he’s made are questionable.”

And Lindsay’s mother is no better. “She’s out partying till the wee hours of the morning with her famous daughter who has been in and out of rehab numerous times,” explained Velez-Mitchell. “[It's a] bad idea…trying to be your daughter’s friend as opposed to a parent.”

In all Michael and Dina’s bickering back-and-forth, Lindsay “is being used as a football between these two warring and competitive parties,” the award-winning TV journalist said. “What a pathetic and sad commentary on their level of maturity — or lack of maturity.”

Velez-Mitchell concludes that both parents are equally culpable. “Michael, I like you,” she said. “You’re a good guy. But my gosh, how can you point the finger at Dina and you’re doing something like that? And Dina, you’re saying, ‘He’s the problem.’ But why are you out partying with your daughter till the wee hours? She’s not supposed to be doing that [because] she’s hopefully sober. Shame on both of you, frankly.”

When the world first learned of Johnny Lewis‘ sudden death, it all seemed like a shock. But was it really?

In the past 10 months, the Sons of Anarchy star — whose body was found in the driveway of an L.A. neighborhood after falling or leaping to his own death on Sept. 26 — had many run-ins with the law, well-documented drug struggles, orders to out-patient counseling and even served time behind bars. In fact, he was released just five days before his demise.

So should the warning signs of Lewis’ twisted and troubled life been better heeded?

“The answer is absolutely,” said HLN host Jane Velez-Mitchell. “The justice system failed us, and failed that landlady and her cat in the months leading up to that debacle.”

“Cops say that Johnny Lewis broke into a home and beat two men with a Pierre bottle and then, about a month later, attacked a man who was coming out of a yogurt shop and punched him in the face,” he said. “Despite all that, he was sentenced to 30 days in treatment. And after completing that, he was put on probation.”

But Velez-Mitchell thinks Lewis’ sentencing should’ve been more stringent. “Now, as a person in recovery, I’m all in favor of acknowledging that there is a substance abuse problem that needs to be treated, but violence is violence. And if somebody is violent, they need to be behind bars, in some sort of lock-down where they can’t hurt anybody else or themselves.”

“This should be a wake-up call for judges,” she warned. “There were many alarm bells in this case and…they all fell on deaf eyes. If somebody is behaving proactively in a violent fashion, just some kind of treatment program and then probation ain’t enough.”

In the end, Velez-Mitchell sees one take-home message from Lewis’ heartbreaking case: “Learn from this horror.”

Though Johnny Lewis‘ death may seem like a shock, a closer look at his last months sheds light on the truth: The Sons of Anarchy actor was on a dark, twisted descent into destruction.

In the past 10 months, Lewis — whose body was found in the driveway of an L.A. neighborhood after falling or leaping to his own death on Wednesday afternoon — had many run-ins with the law, well-documented drug struggles, orders to out-patient counseling and even served time behind bars. In fact, he was released just five days before his demise.

But perhaps the biggest warning sign laid in the lines of Lewis’ probation reports.

In connection to one of his three arrests this year, a probation officer noted grave concern about Lewis’ out-of-control ways. “There are significant issues which should be addressed,” the report states, according to the L.A. Times. “Obviously, defendant’s behavior is out of control and needs counseling afforded by a professional.”

Another report notes that Lewis “suffers from some form of chemical dependency, mental health issue and a lack of permanent housing. Given this, (Lewis) will continue to be a threat to any community he may reside.”

In fact, even Lewis’ attorney Jonathan Mandel spoke of the actor’s concerning mental state, admitted that his client’s family and friend had tried in vain to help him. “Johnny Lewis had a lot of problems, a lot of mental problems,” Mandel said on Thursday, according to CBS. “I recommended treatment for him but he declined it.”

In the end, it’s a chain of events that should have raised a red flag — or many. Before checking into treatment for substance abuse, Billie Joe Armstrong‘s obscenity-laced, on-stage breakdown reaped quite a bit of backlash.

While wrapping up at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Sept. 21, the Green Day frontman unraveled into a profane rant as he complained the band’s set was being cut short. “One minute left, one minute f***ing left,” he exclaimed. “You’re gonna give me f***ing one minute? … I’m not f***ing Justin Bieber, you f***!” The singer then smashed his guitar on the ground before storming off the stage.

“It was over the line,” said HLN host Jane Velez-Mitchell, after addressing questions in Celebuzz‘s #AskJane video feature. “He had the meltdown, well, maybe not of the century, but it was pretty good, or bad, depending on your viewpoint”

The band soon released a statement to apologize for the incident, insisting their gig was not cut off by concert promoters and announcing Armstrong had headed to rehab.

So as the storm settles, can the public forgive Armstrong for his over-the-top rant?

“Of course,” said Velez-Mitchell. But that forgiveness is dependent on one factor: “If he sticks with treatment [and] if he comes out sober,” she explained.

Though the headline-hitting breakdown is still fresh on the public’s mind, the repercussions can be tamed.

“They say in recovery — and I’m a recovering alcoholic with 17 years of sobriety — that there’s no mess you can’t clean up,” Velez-Mitchell reasoned. “Maybe murder is a mess you can’t clean up. But this certainly is a mess that he can clean up”

How can Armstrong go about that?

“When he comes out of his treatment, he needs to stay sober and he needs to acknowledge that he crossed the line and did something that is very self-destructive and obnoxious,” Velez-Mitchell said.

And that admission of guilt is Armstrong’s cure-all, according to Velez-Mitchell.

“Everybody in America loves somebody who acknowledges when they’ve made a mistake,” she said. “He didn’t hurt anyone. He just was full of rage. There’s a huge connection between addiction and rage. [But] the public will forgive him [and] he will be more popular than ever.”

Armstrong’s one possible salvation lies in his substance abuse issues. Perhaps the public and fans of Green Day — who will release its new album, Uno, on Tuesday — can find forgiveness given the musician’s current medical struggles.

Indeed, news of Armstrong entering treatment comes just weeks after the rock trio was forced to scrap a show in Italy after the frontman was hospitalized for an unknown medical issue. Now, the band has had to “postpone some of their upcoming promotional appearances,” according to the rep’s statement.

Kate Middleton has been at the center of controversy over the past week after several European publications went to press with semi-nude snaps of the royal sunbathing while on vacation with husband Prince William at a private chateau in the south of France.

Now as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s legal team continues to fight to bar further dissemination of the revealing images, one question is on everyone’s mind: Was this an exploitation of Kate Middleton’s privacy? Or were these pictures fair game?

“I go back and forth and back and forth on this,” said HLN host Jane Velez-Mitchell, after addressing questions in Celebuzz’s #AskJane video feature. “On the one hand, she is a beautiful young woman who is newly married who wants to be able to be a human being, not some kind of cardboard cutout [or]…some sort of walking press release.”

But is it realistic to think that a royal could ever have complete privacy?

“Ever so often, human beings have to do human things like take off their top and give their hubby a little massage with some suntan lotion,” Velez-Mitchell mused. “Where’s the harm in it?”

But “I think it is naïve to think that anybody in the royal family,” she continued, “especially somebody as pretty [and] young as she is, can take their top off and that every photographer…in the world isn’t going to try to take that photo.”

The royal lawyers, however, is taking aim at both the publications and the unidentified paparazzi, after what St. James’s Palace called a “grotesque” and “totally unjustifiable” invasion of Middleton’s privacy. And on Tuesday, the royal couple won their first legal victory when a French court ruled that Closer — the first outlet to print the topless photos — was prohibited from any further dissemination of the images of the Duchess. The publication was also required to relinquish all digital copies of the snaps to the royals within 24 hours, and failure to comply carried the promise of a fine.

Still, Velez-Mitchell argued that their social stature may preclude any real privacy. “There is a naïveté in her thinking that she had privacy,” she explained.

But “the question is,” she added, “were [the photographers] really on public property as [they] claim? That’s their explanation, that, hey, they’re on a public road, too bad. While those elusive details remain unresolved, Velez-Mitchell thinks the always-watched Duke and Duchess should take precaution to protect themselves. “You’re the royals,” she claimed. “You’ve got to find a way, with satellites and telephoto lenses, to take off that top and not get snapped.”

Usher‘s bitter custody battle with ex-wife Tameka Foster came to an end on Friday, when a Georgia Superior Court judge ruled that the Grammy-winning R&B singer will have primary custody of the former couple’s sons, Usher Raymond V, 4, and Naviyd Ely Raymond, 3.

Usher and Foster will share legal custody of the boys, though visitation plans have not yet been decided. Usher’s custody will start on Sept. 1.

The decision brings to a close an extended — and emotional — legal dispute that has spanned many months.

But the fight may not be over just yet.

Foster has taken to Twitter in response to the court’s ruling. “Money can buy many things… But in the end. Truth & goodness will prevail,” she tweeted after the news broke. “I must continue to believe this. Stand firm.”

In another revealing tweet, Foster wrote: “A woman’s loyalty is tested when her man has nothing… A mans loyalty is tested when he has everything!” That was followed by: “Don’t fear the enemy that attacks you… Fear the fake friend that hugs you. There’s not much worse.”

Now, according to TMZ, Foster is gearing up to appeal the decision. So the question looms large: Does Foster have any chance of winning back primary custody?

That’s the question on everyone’s mind as the 19-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston continued to flaunt her eyebrow-raising relationship this week, posting a photo of her and Gordon, 22, sharing a passionate smooch.

Earlier that day, Brown posted a snapshot of the pair — who got matching dove tattoos in honor of Houston last Wednesday — embracing. “& still through those trials&tribulations the devil kept on trying to break them& soon realized… He couldn’t,” she tweeted.

And now, after addressing questions in Celebuzz‘s #AskJane video feature, HLN host Jane Velez-Mitchell says, “they have obviously bonded over their shared grief over Whitney Houston’s death.”

But has that bond gone too far?

“They said at first, ‘We’re just grieving together,’” said Velez-Mitchell. “Obviously, one thing led to another.”

Brown is not technically related to Gordon, Velez-Mitchell notes. But her late mother informally adopted Gordon at a young age after his parents were unable to take care for him. Gordon has been living in the Houston home ever since.

“So Bobbi Kristina has known him since they were tweens, you might say,” explained Velez-Mitchell. “But he is not officially her adopted brother.”

When it to comes to the growing concern surrounding their alleged romance, the HLN host says the issue boils down to one sticking point: “The key here is what is Nick Gordon’s intention,” she reasoned.

“Is he with her because they really bonded emotionally over this grief? Because they became close through trauma? Which often happens,” she continued. “Or, the fact that he was left out of the will, is he interested in Bobbi Kristina because she could very well become a very, very wealthy young woman?”

“That’s really the key. What is his intention in this relationship? And we’re going to have to wait and see on that.”

NBA star Tony Parker is suing NYC nightclub W.i.P. for $20 million over a scratched cornea he claims he suffered during a fight involving singer Chris Brown and members of hip-hop star Drake entourage.

According to Parker, the SoHo-based venue and its operators were negligent in security and supervision, which allowed the fight to take place.

But can he win the legal stoush?

“Anybody can sue, but how could the club have foreseen [the incident]?” HLN anchor Jane Velez-Mitchell told Celebuzz, answering questions in our #AskJane video feature.
