This weekend’s box office battle is between two completely opposite movies that both ladies and gents can enjoy! The two films battling it out this weekend are The Five-Year Engagement and The Raven. One a romantic comedy while the other a thriller mystery. Though the films look very intriguing there can only be one on top.

So let’s take a look at both films and it break down!

First up we have funny-man Jason Segal alongside the adorable and quirky Emily Blunt in The Five-Year Engagement. The film written by Jason and Nicolas Stoller, the duo that has brought us Forgetting Sarah Marshall and viewer fav The Muppets bring audiences a rom com about two love-birds and their unplanned long  wedding engagement. Shortly after proposing Blunt’s character Violet gets a once in a lifetime opportunity that delays their wedding plans. As time goes by and more obstacles get in the way the engagement continues to be extended. Filled with tons of humor, excitement and Segal as the leading man you know this comedy will be filled with twist and turns and great laughs!

On a more serious tone we have The Raven, a fictionalized version of the last days of well-known poet Edgar Allan Poe, played by John Cusack, who is in pursue of a serial killer who has been murdering people in ways that mirror Poe’s stories. A thrilling mystery that begins with a murder, the story continues as they enlist Poe to help out in discovering who the perpetrator is. We can surely expect action, suspense and chilling discoveries from this classic mystery story. Also in the film are Immortals hottie Luke Evans and She’s Out of my League star Alice Eve. “[Jason] was really excited not to play the slacker guy who cleans himself up, but a guy who really is committed to an adult relationship, but is still a bit of an innocent,” Nick told me, agreeing that Segel, 32, was excited to play a more mature part.

Life certainly is imitating art because Jason has found himself in a committed and adult relationship with Oscar nominated actress Michelle Williams, 31.

The Five-Year Engagement hits theaters on April 27, and for the first time, Nick said he doesn’t have another project lined up at the moment. 

Stoller and I started discussing actors he should work with, so obviously I suggested Kristen Stewart. You know I’m pushing for her to do a romantic comedy!

“Kristen Stewart, yeah she could be really funny,” Nick said in agreement. “That’s a really good idea. We’ll get both her and Robert [Pattinson].”

No complaints here! Stewart told me back at the junket for Breaking Dawn Pt. 1 she would “would die” to work with Rob again post-Twilight, and that she would be up to do a romantic comedy.

Stoller, Segel, Stewart, Pattinson…sounds like a dream team to me! What do you guys think?

Segel, 32, is currently dating Michelle Williams, and while he’s confirmed the two are together, he has stayed quiet on details. However, if things keep going well, Jason could definitely see himself marrying.

“I would like to be married, certainly, yeah,” Segel said. “I think that would be lovely. I think I would make a very good husband.”

“You would actually,” Blunt responded. “Do you make good scrambled eggs?”

“I’ll tell you what. I scramble them no problem, I can scramble them with my eyes closed. I’ll also poach you some eggs,” Jason quipped.

In the film, Emily and Jason’s characters hit a crossroad during their long engagement about whether they want kids, but in reality both stars are all for it.

“I want to have kids,” Emily, 29, told Celebuzz. The Devil Wears Prada actress has been married to The Office star John Krasinski for nearly two years. “I’m from a big family, so I’m quite excited about the thought of having little people around. I don’t know when, I’d like a bit more time of being spontaneous and silly.”

As for Jason?

“I would very much like to have kids,” he said.

Judging from the photos of Segel playing with Michelle Williams’ daughter Matilda, it looks like he would make a good husband and father.

The How I Met Your Mother star was spotted this past week leaving a taping of the Tonight Show With Jay Leno, but it was his smart phone that caught our eye. On the back of his phone, the actor had pasted some photo booth pics of his new girlfriend Michelle Williams. The text on the pics read: “I Love You.”

Following the award season, it was revealed that Michelle and Jason were the hot new couple in Hollywood. 

This past March, Us Weekly obtained photos of Jason, 32, canoodling in Brooklyn, New York with the My Week With Marilyn beauty, 31. The man behind the new Muppets movie was even spotted playing with the actress’ daughter (who’s also the child of the late Heath Ledger) Matilda.

Earlier this year, Jason sent out a sweet tweet that he later deleted that read: “Honestly a totally hypothetical question but I’m curious. If I fell in love would you guys be happy?”

Us Weekly obtained new photos of the How I Met Your Mother star, 32, canoodling in Brooklyn, New York with Oscar nominee Michelle Williams, 31. The man behind the new Muppets movie was even spotted playing with the actress’ daughter (who’s also the child of the late Heath Ledger) Matilda. 

A source for the magazine reports that the two were seen this past week having a New York romance, dining at Frankie’s Spuntino and looking “smitten and very serious.”

“He put his arm around her and made her laugh as they walked,” an onlooker told Us. “They looked very relaxed.” So how did these two get together?

It’s not known yet, but the two were on a lot of red carpets this awards season for their films My Week With Marilyn and The Muppets. Also, Michelle’s best friend Busy Philipps starred in Freaks and Geeks with Jason back in the day.

Jason is set to star in the Five-Year Engagement alongside The Adjustment Bureau’s Emily Blunt and Parks and Recreation funnyman Chris Pratt. The movie comes out April 27. 

Currently you can catch him on hte big screen starring in Jeff, Who Lives At Home which he costars with The Hangover’s Ed Helms and the legendary Susan Sarandon. 

What are you thoughts on mustaches: Yay or Nay?

First up in the battle, we have the action comedy 21 Jump Street starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.  The film version is based on the gritty late 1980′s TV series of the same name that starred a young Johnny Depp! The new version gives the old premise a 21st century comedic kick. Tatum and Hill play a pair of underachieving cops who must go undercover as high school students to bust a drug ring.

On the flip side of the battle, we have Casa de mi Padre,  the latest comedy starring funny man Will Ferrell! This is the hilarious story of two brothers played by Ferrell and Diego Luna who are trying to save their father’s ranch in Mexico.  On their adventure they encounter Mexico’s most feared drug lord played by none other than Gael Garcia Bernal. There is no doubt that the the LOLz will only ensue from there!

One more funny flick of note opening this weekend is Jeff, Who Lives at Home starring Jason Segel.  The film revolves around Jeff, played by Segel, who still lives at home with his mom (Susan Sarandon) at age 30.  Jeff seems to be doomed to a life of slackery until one day he goes with his brother, played by Ed Helms, as he tracks his wife whom he fears is being unfaithful.

Come on, Jason! Give yourself more credit than that! Not only did you successfully revive the Muppets franchise (with an Oscar nominated song, no less!) but you have two new films coming out this year and your sitcom How I Met Your Mother is still going strong.

One of Jason’s upcoming films is The Five-Year Engagement with Emily Blunt, out in April. Jason not only stars in, but wrote this project, and talked a bit about it with VF.

“The theme of the movie is about how fluid relationships are. That over the course of something like five years, how our dynamic shifts, you meet new people—and it’s not just so you meet someone and you love them and then it’s over. Life is complicated. And there’re still other attractive people in the world. And you still fight. TV funny men Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) and Ed Helms (The Office) share the big screen for their latest indie flick, Jeff, Who Lives At Home, and the film’s first trailer has just been released. The movie centers around a slacker (Segel) who spends his days wallowing away in his mother’s basement, while his brother suspects his wife is having an affair. The two team up to find out the truth, and naturally, hilarity (and a little bit of drama) ensues.

We have to admit, we kind of love seeing these two take a bit of a dramatic turn! Ed was great in last year’s Cedar Rapids, and it looks like this movie will follow suit in mixing drama and comedy.

The How I Met Your Mother actor invited Chelsea Gill to accompany him to an award ceremony after she serenaded him in an online video. The young fan penned a song to Segel, begging the celeb to “just have a drink with [her] before this year ends.”

Jason was so impressed by her singing chops that he took both Chelsea and her twin sister to the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards on Saturday.

At the event, Jason was also graced with the Commedia Extraordinaire Award. 

The funnyman later tweeted a backstage photo with his dates, saying:

In the newly released trailer for The Five-Year Enagement, Jason and Emily play a crazy-in-love couple who have a magical engagement — but then life gets in the way of their knot tying dreams. Violet (Blunt) is offered a job in Michigan for just two years, and being the supportive partner that he is, Tom (Segel) uproots his life to be with the one he loves.

However, as even more ”life” begins to happen, their wedding day and subsquent marital bliss seems to get further and further away.

It also stars Parks and Recreation‘s Chris Pratt (who throws in a hilarious rendition of Billy Joel‘s “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” by the way) as well as Community‘s Alison Brie who puts on her finest British accent.

The Five-Year Engagement, written by Jason and The Muppets co-screenwriter Nicholas Stoller, (who told Celebuzz this film tested “really well” with audiences) hits theaters on April 27. Check out the trailer above!

In the franchise’s first theatrical release in over 12 years, The Muppets starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams rekindles Kermit, Gonzo the Great, Fozzie Bear and the whole gang with loyal fans and introduces the characters to a brand new generation of fans.

In the film, oil is found underneath the Muppet Theater and an oilman (played by Chris Cooper) is hatching a plan to demolish it unless Gary and Mary (Segel and Adams) raise $10 million to save the theater.

Debuting this weekend is legendary director Martin Scorsese‘s first 3D film, Hugo about young boy named Hugo who ends up as an orphan living a secret life in walls of a Paris train station. When Hugo encounters a broken automaton, an eccentric girl (Chloe Moretz), and the cold man (Sacha Baron Cohen) who runs the city’s toy shop, he is in for a mysterious yet fantastic adventure.

Garnering lots of Oscar buzz and also opening this week is My Week With Marilyn, starring Michelle Williams in a standout performance as the infamous Marilyn Monroe. Check out the trailer below:

The Muppets hits theaters on Wednesday November 23, so Celebuzz was thrilled when we sat down with Stoller, who directed 2008′s hysterical Forgetting Sarah Marshall and co-penned The Muppets with Segel.

We chatted with Nick about everything from their writing process to a possible sequel, and much more! 

Tell us a little bit about the process of how this film came to be.

As we were filming Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Jason called me and said that he had a meeting at Disney. Just a general meeting with Kristen Burns, an executive there. She said what properties are you interested in and he asked ‘Are you guys doing The Muppets?’ and she said ‘I don’t know.’ And so he called me and asked ‘Do you want to write a Muppet movie?’ and I said yes (Laughs). That’s like the call you never think about. And on that phone call, we kind of riffed out most of the plot of the movie. It’s kind of interesting like most of the big moves of the movie, we figured out in that phone call. 

What’s one of the more elaborate scenes that you thought would not make it into the movie?
From the beginning Disney, I hadn’t worked at Disney before, but they were so cool with their notes that they were just interested in being true to Jim Henson’s legacy and they weren’t interested in anything else, and that’s a testament to Kristen. There wasn’t really anything that I thought wasn’t going to make it because it was too weird or too out there. They were kind of on board for all of our weird humor and jokes because that’s what The Muppets are. They’re pretty out there, you know. So there’s wasn’t really anything that comes to mind. There were some things that we wrote in that ended up being cut because they would be impossible to shoot, but that’s different.

What’s something that you wish would’ve made it the final cut?
Well I’m actually glad the way it turned out the way it did. We had this idea early on that there should be a shot of all the Muppets (in a full body shot) running from Gonzo’s factory and then exploding in slow motion. That would’ve obviously caused so much problems. So the fix we thought was to have them running (not full body) and then to have them talk about how expensive it looks. So that was kind of an evolution. But then they went for the car coming out of the water scene. Originally we had it as a convertible Rolls Royce and they said that if you get the Muppets wet that cost like $50,000 to replace them. So we had it the way it is now.

There’s some great montages in the film. How does one master the art of writing a montage?
You just need to make sure that you have a lot of visual jokes. You can’t tell too many jokes verbally. James did an amazing job with those. We built the city as his idea and our version we just wrote a bunch of jokes and different things that The Muppets could be doing. But then he built it around that song which makes that montage fly. I think the right song certainly makes the montage work. Those two things and cool camera work, too.

Jason has mentioned that he is a little superstitious about talking about a sequel. Are you the same way?
Yeah, I am a little. Obviously, it would be awesome to get to work on another one, but we have to wait to see how it does.

What was one of your initial reactions when you finally got to see the movie in full?
I was just so excited. I thought James did an amazing job with it and I’m just thrilled. I’m thrilled with the way it turned out.

You mentioned that the one of the original plots was that he (Peter Linz) was a puppeteer like on a boardwalk. Was there any other story lines that kind of got abandoned along the way?
Oh yeah, a lot. We changed a lot. The funniest one was Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) in our original version, he was a oil baron who wants the studio. But we did a Willy Wonka-style plot where it’s revealed that it’s actually Kermit in a human suit pretending to be Tex Richman and he used Richman to get all the Muppets back together. Disney was like “kids aren’t going to understand this” (Laughs). We had this whole joke about him unzipping a human suit. That was kind of an early plot that people were like no one’s going to get this.

This is your third time working with Jason Segel. Do you guys have anything else in the works?
I’m in post-editorial on a movie called The Five Year Engagement with Jason and Emily Blunt. That we’re working on now, we just tested and it tested really well so we’re very excited.

What did your kids think of the movie?
My daughter saw they original Muppet Movie when she was a little bit too young, around two-and-a-half. The original movies are a little slow. They’re so awesome but they’re not paced so much quicker. But she loves Kermit and Miss Piggy. She hasn’t see the movie yet, but I’m excited for her to see it.

What was the writing process like writing this film?
We worked on it for so many years, but having said that it was really fun and exciting. The only challenge was the number of characters you have to service. In a normal movie, you have about five characters. This one there’s like 30 characters and there’s scenes were there’s 20 people or Muppets. So that was a little hard because the script had already quickly 130 pages. But in terms of writing it, it was a real delight. Each time we had to rewrite, it was fun to try new stuff and it’s kind of like writing animation where anything can happen.

Was there every a time where you just thought it was too much pressure?
Oh yeah. I remember when I sat down to write the first Kermit line and I like “this is a huge responsibility I’m taking on.” And I couldn’t think about it and I just went on (writing). So I decided to just put that out of mind and hope it worked.
