The 20-year-old actress dished on love and fairy tales to Nylon magazine.

And until recently, it seemed the Disney Channel diva was living out that fairy tale romance with boyfriend and pop sensation Justin Bieber. The duo reigned supreme as king and queen of the teenybopper world, until things took a turn for the worse.

After about two years of dating, reports surfaced in November that Selena & Justin were on the outs. Amidst break-up rumors, the couple met up to rekindle their romance, but at the end of the day, they just couldn’t make it work. The two reportedly made the split official this week after a New Year’s Eve blowup in Puerto Vallarta.

In this pre-Biebs break-up interview, the young starlet alluded to the lax nature of her and Justin’s relationship. “I’m having fun,” she said casually.

No matter her direction, at least she’s got best friends like Taylor Swift by her side.

“We both experienced the same things at the same time,” Gomez said of her notoriously serial-dating pal in the interview. “She just became the person I’d go to for an issue with my family or boyfriend. It’s so hard to trust girls, so I’m lucky to have her.”

An evening of celebration and surprise, the 2013 Golden Globe ceremony kept the entertainment world shocked and satisfied as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association recognized the best performances, tv and films of the last year.

But what were the highlights? And perhaps more importantly, the low-lights? There were plenty of amazing moments throughout the ceremony – unexpected wins, great acceptance speeches, terrible jokes, and tear-jerking confessions – which we’ve dutifully assembled for the lingering enjoyment of Celebuzz’ readers.

Highlight: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s Opening Monologue

Longtime friends Fey and Poehler were clearly in their element as they cracked wise at the expense of so many attendees, and even the HFPA itself. But among their best lines:

On Ricky Gervais’ absence as host of the awards show: “When you run afoul of the Hollywood foreign press, they make you host this show two more times.”

On the controversy surrounding Zero Dark Thirty: “When it comes to torture I trust the woman who spent three years married to James Cameron.”

Lowlight: Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Dr. Aida Takla’s Speech

Although Takla got in a good zinger later on in her speech, she opened her little introduction with instructions for the cameramen to “scan the crowd” to show the world the star wattage in attendance. She also stood silent as she “waited” for them to follow through on her instructions. But the real howler was her final joke, a gag tailor made for hip grandmas the world over: offering a word to hunky Silver Linings Playbook star Bradley Cooper, she said, “three words: call me, maybe.”

Lowlight: Teleprompter Fail During Best TV Series – Drama Announcement

After Salma Hayek and Paul Rudd successfully handed a statuette to Damian Lewis for Best Actor for his performance on Homeland, they stood uncomfortably on stage waiting for the teleprompter to kick in to read the nominees for Best TV Series. Rudd feebly attempted to keep the conversation going, saying, “how’s everybody?” But Hayek’s “It’s best drama, something, uh…” before the nominees reel unspooled only intensified the awkwardness of the moment.

Highlight: Adele Wins Best Song For “Skyfall”

As a pop star who has made a mint off of her own personal misery, there was something particularly delightful about seeing her giggly and excited as she took the stage to accept her award. “Oh my God!” she exclaimed. “[Me and my date] are new mums – I was not expecting this! We’ve been pissing ourselves laughing all night.” She subsequently thanked her son and her boyfriend, the latter of whom we’re undecided about whether we want to send her packing – after all, it could produce another amazing record.

Highlight: Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell Improvise Plot Synopses For Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical Actress Nominees

After Fey and Poehler mispronounced Ferrell and Wiig’s names introducing them, the pair took the stage for a particularly inspired bit where they attempted to explain the plot and characters of the five films whose actresses received nominations. Wiig has done this bit on Saturday Night Live in the past, but she and Ferrell made a brilliant team as they repeatedly tried to push one another into weirder and weirder digressions as they explained what each film was about. Sub-highlight: Tommy Lee Jones’ complete and total disinterest in the whole thing.

Highlight: Anne Hathaway’s Best Supporting Actress Acceptance Speech

Hathaway trembled as she took the stage to accept her award for her work in Les Miserables, calling the statuette “a blunt object to fight off self-doubt.” But she took an extra moment in her speech to specifically thank Sally Field for being a “vanguard against typecasting,” recalling the elder actress’ transition from The Flying Nun to Norma Rae.

Lowlight: Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger Present Terrible Accents

While an attempt for Stallone and Schwarzenegger to make light of their respective limitations as deliverers of dialogue was certainly well-intentioned and welcome, their patter was at best awkward and unfunny. “I can’t be as bad as you,” Stallone said incredulously. “You’re awful!” Well, congratulations, fellows, you’re both awful – in this bit, anyway.

Lowlight: Claire Danes Thanks Insane Generosity, Seems Insane

Claire Danes won her second Golden Globe in just a few years for her work on Homeland, one of the breakout shows of the last year. But taking the stage in eye make-up better suited to either The Hamburglar or a strung-out mental patient, Danes thanked the HFPA “for being so insanely generous” even as she communicated a questionable level of sanity.

Highlight: Jodie Foster Comes Out During Acceptance Speech

Accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award with the repeated proclamation of “I’m 50!” Jodie Foster proceeded to deliver one of the most intelligent and inspiring speeches of the evening as she effectively made a public declaration of her sexuality. Explaining that she already came out “a thousand years ago,” Foster went on to give the phrase “loud and proud” new meaning, talking about how she wants to make a difference in different ways going forward although she did not rule out the possibility of acting again. Nevertheless, even as one of Hollywood’s widely-known but seldom publicly-acknowledged gays, Foster gave the gay rights movement a powerful new ally in the fight for equality with yet another beloved and well-respected Hollywood luminary showing her support by simply being open.

Highlight: Ben Affleck Wins Directing Award, Thanks Film History

Although Affleck was not even nominated for an Academy Award for his directing work on Argo, he took home the prize at the Golden Globes, and delivered an effusive but entirely sincere acceptance speech essentially thanking the industry for allowing him to stand among filmmakers that inspire and quite frankly surpass him with their visions. Mentioning not just fellow nominees like Steven Spielberg and Kathryn Bigelow, but icons like Orson Welles and trailblazers like Paul Thomas Anderson, Affleck breathlessly ran down a list of artists he appreciates and adores, wrapping up with a thank you to his children and wife, whom he called “his everything.”

After years of preaching for more privacy in Hollywood, Jodie Foster has finally opened up.

While accepting the Cecil B. DeMille award at the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards, the actress feignly built up to a big announcement about her ever-hush-hush personal life.

“So while I’m here being all confessional, I guess I just have the sudden urge to say something that I’ve never really been able to air in public, a declaration that I’m a little nervous about but not quite as nervous as my publicist,” she said, seemingly anxious. “But I’m just going to put it out there, loud and proud.”

“I’m going to need your support on this. I am…single,” Foster declared, as the Beverly Hilton Hotel crowd broke out into laughter and applause. “Yes, I am. I am single. No, I’m kidding. No, I’m not really kidding, but I’m kind of kidding. I mean, thank you for the enthusiasm.”

For years, there has been speculation about Foster’s sexuality. But she has always tip-toed around the topic publicly — until now. “I already did my coming out speech about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age,” she said, recalling how “a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends, and family, and coworkers and gradually, proudly to everyone who knew her, to everyone she had actually met.”

But times have changed. As Hollywood has grown more press-and paparazzi-saturated, stars’ private lives have become ever more public, a fact that Foster has repeatedly bemoaned.

“Every celebrity is expected to honor the details of their private life with a press conference, a fragrance and a primetime reality show,” she said, joking that she is “not Honey Boo Boo Child,” the six-year-old child beauty pageant tot famed for her TLC show. “I never was and I never will be…. But seriously, if you had been a public figure from the time that you were a toddler; if you had to fight for a life that felt real, and honest, and normal against all odds, then maybe you too might value privacy above all else.”

Foster has in fact made a case for celebrities’ right to privacy in the past, even penning an open letter last summer as her Panic Room costar Kristen Stewart faced a fierce media firestorm for cheating on her boyfriend Robert Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders.

“Privacy. Some day, in the future, people will look back and remember how beautiful it once was,” Foster mused. “I have given everything up there from the time that I was three years old, that’s reality show enough, don’t you think?”

After tipping her hat to her team of “lifers,” Foster took a moment to thank film producer Cydney Bernard, whom she hailed her “heroic co-parent” of sons Charles, 14, and Kit, 11.

“There is no way I could ever stand here without acknowledging one of the deepest loves of my life…my ex-partner in love but righteous soul sister in life, my confessor, ski buddy, consigliere, my most-beloved BFF of 20 years,” Foster said. “Thank you, Cyd. I am so proud of our modern family. Our amazing sons, Charlie and Kit, who are my reason to breathe and to evolve, my blood and soul. And boys, in case you didn’t know it, this song, like all of this, is for you.”

After Foster earned cheers and tears from the crowd — and a “we’re going home with Jodie Foster” from hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler — the applause continued on Twitter.

Their love might have ended on Revenge, but in real-life, costars Emily VanCamp and Josh Bowman are growing from strength to strength.

The pair attended the Mending Kids International’s ‘Four Kings & An Ace’ Celebrity Poker Tournament at The London Hotel on Saturday night in West Hollywood, Calif. and shared an intimate moment in front of a cavalcade of Tineltown stars, an onlooker tells Celebuzz.

“At one point during the night, Emily and Josh were gazing into each others’ eyes over popcorn,” said the partygoer.

“Emily looked stunning in a nude and black cocktail dress while Josh complimented her outfit with a chic suit and tie.

“After exchanging a few glances and laughing together, Emily and Josh headed to one of the VIP rooms where the celebrity poker tournament was underway.”

The couple took up seats next to their Revenge co-star Nick Wechsler, who plays Jack Porter on the hit ABC series.

Added the insider: “They spent most of the rest of their night in the poker room, hanging out and chatting amongst the three of them.”

VanCamp’s season two love interest Barry Sloane, who plays Aiden Mathis, the mysterious man from Emily’s past, was also in attendance.

“Mathis was gambling for a good cause with his costar Ashley Madekwe at the Blackjack table,” added the partygoer.

Others taking part in the high-stakes poker tournament in the private rooms in the back of the venue (player tickets were $10,000/per person) included event co-hosts Robert Downey Jr., Jodie Foster, Sean Penn and Gene Simmons.

Other notables on-hand for the party included Mel Gibson, Camille Grammer, Patricia Arquette and American Idol winner Lee Dewyze.

The star-studded guests played casino games like Craps and Blackjack, enjoying treats like popcorn and cigars as well as cocktails provided by El Cartel Tequila, which is infused with 24 Karat Gold flakes.

Kristen Stewart had an ultra-glam moment Thursday morning at a press conference in Los Angeles, where she helped announce that Jodie Foster will receive the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s prestigious Cecil B. DeMille award in January.

The 22-year-old beauty stepped out in a low-cut gray dress by Bec & Bridge, which she matched with heels by Burberry.

She was joined by actor Simon Baker for the announcement.

Stewart worked with Foster on the David Fincher movie Panic Room.

Foster later came to Stewart’s defense after Stewart was caught cheating on Robert Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders.

“In my era, through discipline and force of will, you could still manage to reach for a star-powered career and have the authenticity of a private life …” Foster, 49, wrote for The Daily Beast. “Not anymore … I’ve said it before and I will say it again: if I were a young actor today I would quit before I started. If I had to grow up in this media culture, I don’t think I could survive it emotionally.”

Foster is a two-time Golden Globe winner. She will give her speech at the 2013 ceremony, on January 13.

Clarice Starling want the lambs — er — critics of K-Stew to stop “screaming”… now!

Jodie Foster published a very personal essay Wednesday in which she defended her Panic Room co-star Kristen Stewart against, among other things, the perils of today’s media.

Writing for The Daily Beast, the two-time Oscar-winning actress — who has been in the business since age three — lambasts the media for the way it has treated Stewart since she confessed to cheating on boyfriend Robert Pattinson with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.

“In my era, through discipline and force of will, you could still manage to reach for a star-powered career and have the authenticity of a private life …” Foster, 49, writes. “Not anymore … I’ve said it before and I will say it again: if I were a young actor today I would quit before I started. If I had to grow up in this media culture, I don’t think I could survive it emotionally.”

“I would only hope that someone who loved me, really loved me, would put their arm around me and lead me away to safety,” she adds.

Foster goes on to write about the experience she shared with Stewart on the set of Panic Room, in 2001, recalling an 11-year-old child who was full of life and promise.

“I grew to love that kid,” she writes. “She turned 11 during our shoot and on her birthday, I organized a mariachi band to serenade her at the taco bar while she blew out her candles. She begrudgingly danced around a sombrero with me but soon rushed off to a basketball game with the grip and electric departments.”

Foster continues:

Her mother and I watched her jump around after the ball, hooting with every team basket. “She doesn’t want to be an actor when she grows up, does she?” I asked. Her mom sighed. “Yes … unfortunately.” We both smiled and shrugged with an ambivalence born from experience. “Can’t you talk her out of it?” I offered. “Oh, I’ve tried. She loves it. She just loves it.” More sighs. We watched her run around the court for a while, both of us silent, each thinking our own thoughts. I was pregnant at the time and found myself daydreaming of the child I might have soon. Would she be just like Kristen? All that beautiful talent and fearlessness … would she jump and dunk and make me so proud?

Foster concludes her essay by recalling a quote from her mother: “This too shall pass.”

“God, I hated that phrase. It always seemed so banal and out of touch, like she was telling me my pain was irrelevant,” she writes, before adding that after years of being in the business it finally makes sense.

“Eventually this all passes … You survive,” Foster reveals. “Hopefully in the process you don’t lose your ability to throw your arms in the air again and spin in wild abandon. That is the ultimate F.U. and—finally—the most beautiful survival tool of all. Don’t let them take that away from you.”

On July 25, Stewart admitted to cheating on Pattinson, mere hours after Us Weekly published intimate photos of her with Sanders.

“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,” Stewart, 22, wrote in a statement. “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”

Since their appearance at Comic-Con, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are all everyone’s talking about.

The hot couple appeared to be as young and in love off-screen, as they are on — well, except for the whole being 100-years-old thing.

But, long before the Twilight stars were Bella and Edward, Kristen had another partner in crime.

A 12-year-old Stewart gave a convincing performance as Jodie Foster’s brave, diabetes-ridden daughter in the 2002 thriller Panic Room. The mother-daughter duo remained strong and fearless in the face of burglary, eventually helping to save the day.

Although Kristen has since skyrocketed to serious stardom, it appears she and Jodie have remained close.

Jodie recently expressed to Access Hollywood how she feels about the Twilight star’s growing success. “I’m proud of her,” Jodie said. “I feel like she’s my daughter too.”

Despite her seniority, The Silence of the Lambs star admits she could even learn a thing or two from the young starlet.

“[Kristen] really should’ve given me some tips,” Jodie said. “She’s doing great.”

Though Oscar winner Jodie Foster thought it was “totally fun” to work with Matt Damon on Elysium, she admits they both didn’t have much to chat about during the actual filming.

“We had one scene together and he never even talked to me,” Foster tells Celebuzz at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego.

So was Damon trying to snub her?

Not quite.

“He was gagged at the time,” Foster, 49, explains.

In the film, Foster plays Secretary Rhodes, a hard government official in the year 2159 who enforces the separation of two classes of people — the wealthy and the poor — on a ravaged planet Earth. Damon, 41, plays an ex-con named Max, who will try to to foil her plans.

Elysium is director and writer Neill Bloomkamp‘s first film since the critically acclaimed District 9, a sci-fi drama based off of events in South Africa during the apartheid era.

“I though it was pretty much the perfect film,” Foster says of Bloomkamp’s full-length film debut, which won him an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2010. “It blended social political commentary, entertainment, amazing acting, humor and action while blowing things up — and it was moving.”

“That’s what Neill brings to it,” she continues. “He’s interested in all of these things.”

Likewise, Damon says Elysium‘s seamless blend of politics and action was what brought him to the project.

“First thing, it’s got to be good. It’s got to be entertaining,” explains Damon. “I don’t like movies that hit you over the head and try to tell you what to think.”

He then assures us that aside from the social commentary, fans will be treated to plenty of fights and explosions.

“[There's] a ton of action,” he tells Celebuzz, “I’m in an exoseleton for half the movie just shooting at things.”

Another day, another star-studded premiere at Cannes!

The latest film to debut at the festival is the Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster‘s drama, The Beaver. The film, Mel’s first since his infamous rants from last summer, is about a depressed father and husband who uses the aid of a stuffed animal beaver to deal with his issues.

Those two weren’t the only stars at the event.

Kristen Stewart is one of Hollywood’s most popular actresses, but her former costar Jodie Foster never expected the Twilight star to stay in the business.

Why? It isn’t because Kristen isn’t talented but Jodie just never expected Hollywood to embrace such a non-mainstream individual.

“She’s a great person, and I’m not surprised she’s gone on to to do great things,” Jodie told E! Online’s Marc Malkin, “But I am surprised she is an actress … Even though her mom said, ‘No, she really really wants to be an actress,’ I felt like, Nah, she won’t because she really doesn’t have the stereotypical personality.”

Kristen has taken shots for awkward interviews and not living the typical Young Hollywood in-the-spotlight lifestyle. KStew talked to London’s Telegraph about the issue in September:

I am quite shy and people think I’m aloof. I get that all the time: ‘She should not be in this position because she can’t handle it,’ and, ‘She is stuck up and doesn’t want to talk to anybody. She is miserable, and if you are so miserable stop doing it.’ But do you have a choice? I want to be an actor, I am just not very comfortable talking about myself.

While Kristen may not have “a stereotypical personality,” many fans have embraced her for her non-traditional attitude towards Hollywood.

Mel Gibson‘s latest public scandal is now directly impacting his career, as Leonardo DiCaprio has reportedly pulled out of a Mel-directed viking film that Leo signed on for in December.

RadarOnline reports that there’s “no chance” of DiCaprio going through with the role now that Gibson’s personal conflicts with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva have put Mel’s career in jeopardy. According to the DiCaprio source,

“Leo has earned the right to pick and choose who he works with and Mel Gibson is not one of them.”

In December 2009, Variety announced that DiCaprio would be the leading man in the untitled viking movie, and that Leo has long been fascinated with the viking culture.

Thanks to the rash of leaked tapes allegedly showing Gibson in a rage, the Leo viking flick isn’t the only one of Mel’s movies that has been put in limbo. His movie The Beaver, in which Mel shares the screen with Jodie Foster (who also directed the film), has many wondering if and how it will ever get released following Mel’s recent woes. However, just this week it was given a PG-13 rating, perhaps a sign that Summit studio still plans on unleashing The Beaver sometime this year.

Today is strange news: Jodie Foster reportedly attacked a teenage fan at The Grove in Los Angeles.

According to a police report obtained by RadarOnline, the incident took place on May 29 between 1:50 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.. The Brave One actress allegedly saw the 17-year-old fan taking a picture of her as she was out shopping with her family and confronted him by grabbing his arm and causing “visible injury.”

According to the teen’s parents, the young man spotted Jodie out and decided to take a picture of her because he was a fan. Unfortunately, Jodie was having none of it and she decided to hunt the teen down and yell at him, “Do you even have a mother you slime ball?”

The teen’s parents report that their son apologized profusely and did nothing to escalate the argument, but Jodie grabbed his arm, scratched and bruised him.

The 47-year-old actress is notorious for leading an extremely private life. After the incident, the victim said that Jodie’s sons, ages 11 and 8, came up to the victim and apologized for their mother’s behavior.

Personally, we wouldn’t want to mess with Jodie, she was pretty convincing as a scary pissed off woman in the Brave One.

The starlet and unhappy press tour traveler, 18, was photographed on a boat in these exclusive pictures from Meet The Famous, sporting a white bikini decorated with the universal symbol for marijuana leaves, as evidenced by photos published on the Web site Egotastic.

This is the second time the actress has been photographed (unintentionally or not) supporting the weed.

Earlier in the fall, right before the release of Twilight, a photo surfaced of Stewart sitting on a front stoop of a building and lighting up what looked like a pot pipe.

Stewart’s rep did not return calls to elaborate on this latest photo.

EW.com is reporting that Jodie Foster and Anne Hathaway will be lending their vocal talents to The Simpsons in 2009. 

Jodie will be providing the voice of a future Maggie Simpson in an episode called “Four Great Women & a Manicure.”

It will be a spoof of Macbeth, Ayn Rand‘s The Fountainhead, Citizen Kane, and Queen Elizabeth I.

Foster, known for her fierce intelligence, should fit in just fine.

Anne Hathaway will be portraying a Good Samaritan-type little girl that Bart falls in love with.

If this were more true to life, Foster would be playing a closeted actress who leaves her partner of 16 years for some hussy movie producer. And Anne would portray an FBI informant gaining vengeance on her user boyfriend.

The Simpsons could TOTALLY use those storylines!

This might come as a shock, but celebrities do go to school to earn their degrees! In something other than acting!

Some stars choose to employ their knowledge. Others don’t. Regardless of their education, these female smarties are just as hot as their not-so-bright counterparts!

Jodie Foster may have broken up with her long-time partner, Cydney Bernard, but she’s anything but lonesome. According to the National Enquirer, the Nim’s Island star is finding comfort in the arms of her new love, Cindy Mort. The tabloid is reporting that Foster’s relationship with Mort started on the set of The Brave One, on which the 51-year-old brunette acted as screenwriter and producer.

Before pairing up with Jodie, Mort was engaged in a long-term relationship with thirtysomething actress Melanie Mayron. The couple reportedly remain friends even after their split, sharing two children and living down the street from one another.

As for Foster and Bernard, they are still living in the same house, however the “love is gone,” according to a tipster. Both plan to move into separate homes.

The source added, “They’ll continue to raise the boys together and try to keep a loving family unit despite their breakup.”

No word on when Anne Heche will craftily find a way to inject herself into the situation.

It took 14 years for onetime Coppertone kid Jodie Foster to finally step up at a Women in Hollywood event and publicly honor “My beautiful Cydney, who sticks by me through all the rotten and the bliss.”

Rumors are swirling that the once fiercely private Foster and Cydney Bernard have called it quits, and lesbos everywhere are tearing up, vividly recalling the day they heard Melissa Etheridge and Julie Cypher had gone down the tubes.

No word on the reason for the split, yet the two, who met on the set of the film Sommersby, parent Charles, 9, and Kit, 6. Neither has ever divulged the boys’ dad or addressed rumors that it was a college gay-guy friend of Jodie.

Oddly, the dish is served on the very same day as the California State Supreme Court overturned the gay marriage ban. But even without the stamp of approval from the state, these two are dug in big time, and untying the knot could prove messy. A source told the National Enquirer it’s “shocking. She and Cydney have been together for so many years and have two children…the potential fallout and legal wrangling from this split could be monumental.”
