Joel Madden is trying to nip his troubles in the bud.

The Good Charlotte frontman landed in hot water after police found a small amount of marijuana in his hotel room at the Star Sydney Casino & Hotel in Sydney, Australia, where he has been living while appearing on an iteration of The Voice.

But before the situation could spiral too far, Madden, 34, confronted the issue head on in a post on his Tumblr page:

Madden’s message came after the Sydney Morning Herald reported that the rocker was on hand when police searched his room, after which he was asked to vacate immediately.

It seems Madden — who is married to fashion maven Nicole Richie, with whom he has two children — was let off with a mere warning because he had less than five grams of green.

Seems only right since Rihanna can get away with lighting up all over social media.

Enough with the counting down and the planning — summer has arrived! The weather around the country has hit an all time level of perfect, especially in the city of Los Angeles. Not everyone has time to take a real summer break, but that doesn’t mean that the stars aren’t still bringing the summer ideals of fun and leisure to work with them, and posting all of their escapades to Twitter and Instagram to prove it.

Love was in the air for many celeb couples this past week. This holds true especially for Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul, who married his longtime girlfriend Lauren Parsekian on May 26. Paul posted many pictures to his Twitter, mostly of the bride and groom, who both exude that “Just Married” glow.  Hopefully the couple got everything they needed in their wedding registry. Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Some other couples who showed some classy PDA this week were Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose, as well as Nicole Richie and Joel Madden.

On the other side of the pond, Sarah Hyland remained as perky as ever with a picture of herself travelling to London, England to film her upcoming project, Vampire Academy. The 22-year-old actress is travelling just after the season finale of Modern Family aired on ABC. Talk about a full plate!

Also on set in England this week is Glee star, Harry Shum Jr., who posted a picture of himself and co-star Sean Astin doing some team bonding on their untitled film. The activity of choice for optimum team bonding? Bowling, of course!

After taking her gams out for a spin at Williams-Sonoma Friday night, and showing off the “butt of a 22-year-old stripper” the day before, Gwyneth Paltrow rounded out the week by throwing her son, Moses a 7th birthday party in LA.

A cast of thousands gathered in Paltrow and Chris Martin‘s backyard on Saturday, including Gwen Stefani, dreamboat Gavin Rossdale, Tobey Maguire, Jennifer Meyer, Ruby Maguire, Otis Maguire, Jon Favreau, Joel Madden, Harlow Madden, Cameron Diaz, Maria Shriver, Christopher Schwarzenegger and Katherine Schwarzenegger.

Nicole Richie, meanwhile, has been on holiday down in St. Barts with Jessica Alba.

Paltrow dressed down in a white tank and gauzy, cream pants for the occasion, and still managed to look 15 years younger than her actual age.

Celebrities were busier than ever this weekend, thanks to countless premieres and the autumn rush of going back to school.

Hollywood mommies and daddies were spotted taking their tykes to class and helping out with their kids’ heavy backpacks. Joel Madden balanced holding his daughter Harlow’s hand while carrying her lunchbox to their car.

Meanwhile, on the East Coast, Katie Holmes walked Suri into Avenues – her new school in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York.

The Afflecks stopped in Bonpoint to pick up some new duds for their three children, Violet, 6, Seraphina, 3, and Samuel, 8 months.

Katy Perry and John Mayer had a romantic night out in New York City on Sunday. The on-again couple went to Pearl restaurant and a private nightclub afterwards.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden will be celebrating their one-year wedding anniversary today, and according to Nicole… the festivities may not be all that exciting!

“Well his dream day is probably watching football and playing video games, and my dream day is watching Real Housewives, so maybe that will be our one-year [celebration],” Nicole told E!

She was just joking, but we think a low-key day at home with their adorable kids Harlow and Sparrow would be a great way to celebrate! And no matter where they are, Nicole and Joel seem to find ways to keep their marriage fun and playful – we couldn’t help smiling when Joel took the time to tweet his beautiful wife on Friday:

After dropping by the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden decided to take a romantic stroll through Paris. Nicole looked chic in a bright red dress paired with black pumps, while Joel wore all black and rocked a pair of sunglasses.

The couple were all smiles, holding hands as they made their way back to their hotel.

Earlier this week, the pair spent some quality time with their kids, Harlow and Sparrow Madden, at Kensington Palace in London at the Royal Celebration of Rapunzel’s induction into the Disney Princess royal court. Nicole commented on the special occasion, saying:

“Disney played such a huge role in my childhood. It’s an honor to be invited to take part in such a special occasion.”

Nicole also recently celebrated her 30th birthday with a bikini bash. Nicole jetted off to Mexico, where she was spotted soaking up the sun in a black bikini with pal Samantha Ronson. Nicole was even seen enjoying a frosty red drink (hmm, daquiri perhaps?) as she and Sam enjoyed a little bit of time by the pool.

Joel Madden and his little son Sparrow James joined Nicole Richie for a pre-Mother’s Day lunch in Studio City, California!

The one-year-old looked very comfortable in his father’s arms, dressed in an adorable red and white stripped shirt and a baseball cap. Meanwhile, his parents were ultra-casual, with Joel wearing a backwards cap and a tank top, and Nicole sporting a jean jacket and black leggings.

Sparrow’s dad is no stranger to Twitter, and lately he has been using the platform to show some thanks. 

Joel tweeted:

“I’ve been blessed. I have fun for a living. I have a family that loves me for me. And i have positive supportive friends. Thank you GOD.”

The Good Charlotte musician’s twin brother also tweeted his gratitude for his life, that Joel then retweeted. It read: 

Praise God for my Family,my Friends,my health&Music. And for my house and my New TV.”

The famous mom and dad enjoyed the sunny weather with son-and-daughter tag team Harlow and Sparrow. Nicole donned an orange tanktop while Harlow looked adorable in a purple dress while Joel held her. The two men of the family both looked tough, with Joel sporting a military-influenced long-sleeved shirt and Harlow going for the beefcake look in a sleeveless tee and vest.

Last week, Nicole pulled an April Fool’s prank on her pal Khloe Kardashian by hijacking her Twitter account. Eventually she gave up control of the account, letting the world know it was all in jest: “APRIL FOOLS!! KHLOE’S TWEETS WERE AS GREAT AS CAN BE, BUT IT WASN’T HER, JUST LIL OL’ ME!” she wrote.

It was the last bit of family quality time the Maddens will have in a while, as Joel is headed to Asia for some new musical ventures. He Tweeted early Monday that he was “off to manila” and that “if UR in indonesia, Malaysia, hongkong, bangkok & U want me to come Dj I’ll be over here for 3 weeks hit @mattavelli for booking. Holler!”

Most three-year-olds are lucky to get a pony or a bouncy-house for their brithday parties. But then, most three-year-olds aren’t Harlow Madden.

After a long week of remaining mum (or honeymooning), Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are speaking out about their glamorous weekend nuptials, which saw Nicole donning three (!) Marchesa dresses, an elephant roaming the property of Nicole’s dad Lionel Richie and the couple’s daughter and son serving as flower girl and ring bearer.

“It was magical,” Nicole, 29, tells People magazine. New hubby Joel, 31, said: “It was the best night of my life.
