John C. Reilly is the odds-on favorite to land the role of Haymitch Abernathy, the drunken Hunger Games winner, according to Vulture. In the books, Abernathy is a major celebrity thanks to his past Games glory, but his guilt of having to send children to their death has turned him into an alcoholic. It’s not until he meets Katniss (who will be played by Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (a role Josh Hutcherson was cast as) that he finds a reason to turn his life around.

In addition to those big names, there have been a slew of minor roles filled in the past week or two. Liam Hemsworth nabbed a significant role in the film, while Elizabeth Banks and others are still in talks to fill the remaining roles.

Many see Hunger as being the next Twilight – a teen-focused book series that will emerge as a beast at the box office.

John C. Reilly learned why back in 2002 after a humiliating “no contact” moment while filming a sex scene as Aniston’s on-screen husband in The Good Girl downgraded his pride, Contact Music reports. Reilly recalls,

“It’s all dark, and she’s a little tense ’cause a sex scene is going to happen. So I get there, and she’s under the covers, and I’m like, ‘Okay, I guess they just want me to get in position here’. So I climb into the bed, she opens up the sheet, and I swear, she had two pairs of sweatpants on, winter socks, a long-sleeved T-shirt. Her body is basically like a burqa from the neck down. And I go, ‘Okay, I guess I’ll get on top of you now’, and she’s like, ‘Can I get the chastity pillow please?’ I’m like, ‘What the hell is a chastity pillow?’ And they bring out this big black pillow that she puts between her legs. And from that moment on, I went from Robert Palmer to the Hunchback of Notre Dame. ‘I’m sorry. I guess I’ll just hump the pillow.’”

As soon as the curtain dropped upon her final Broadway performance of All My Sons, Katie, 30, jetted from New York to Los Angeles to be with husband Tom Cruise at the Golden Globe Awards.

There’s no word yet on what character Katie Holmes is playing, but MTV does mention that there are plenty of transvestites in the book the film is based on.
