The celebrity trainer and author of the upcoming Yogalosophy: 28-day Mind Body Makeover (out 2013) recently sat down with Celebuzz to share the fitness secrets that keep Beckinsale — who ranked No. 34 on the Celebuzzz 101 Hot Bodies countdown — in fighting shape.

What’s it like to work with Beckinsale? And what are the Total Recall star’s favorite workout routines?

Celebuzz: What’s it like to work with Beckinsale?
Mandy Ingber: Kate Beckinsale is a very fun person who maintains a very healthy lifestyle. She likes to practice yoga only. If one of us is not in town, we will Skype. She is actually the one who introduced me to Skype. I love it because there are no excuses!

Celebuzz: Beckinsale is known for her action flick roles; how does her workout support the kind of intense training she has to endure for films like Total Recall?
MI: When Kate shot Total Recall, I joined her in Toronto. When I visited the set I saw a fight scene that she did and finally understood why she needed so much yoga! Fun fact: Her daughter, Lily Sheen, can do flips and enacted an exact replica of the fight scene between Kate and Jessica Biel. It’s all caught on film by director Len Wiseman — who is also Kate’s husband — so it’s a real family affair.

Celebuzz: How did you design a plan that works for her?
MI: I tend to mix it up a little, but [I] bring in my basic strong flow series and incorporate some of my Yogalosophy moves to maximize benefits and toning. She is a very strong yoga practitioner and is naturally adept, so I quickly realized we could incorporate a lot of balancing postures to engage the core and the stabilizing muscles. We generally move consistently through yoga postures and toners at 30 reps each, but we tend to hold the balance poses longer.

Celebuzz: What are Beckinsale’s favorite exercises?
MI: We incorporate back bends and lots of stretching. Kate is also a big fan of Savasana, which is the final resting pose.

Celebuzz: What has been the star’s biggest fitness challenge so far?
MI: The biggest challenge is keeping a straight face while her many small animals run around us with bows in their hair, sliding their doggie butts on the mat. They also tend to gather around when Kate gets into Savasana. She has been relieved that it is her dog licking her hand and not me.

Ingber’s Top Diet Tips For a Bikini-Ready Body Like Kate’s:

1. Eliminate sugar, alcohol, and caffeine from your diet.

These foods are depleting and have no nutritional value.

2. Eat protein at each meal.

Choose healthier snack alternatives: almond butter, coconut milk, pistachio nuts,and blueberries and rice cakes.

English beauty Kate Beckinsale stunned as she promoted her action thriller Total Recall in Dublin, Ireland, on Tuesday.

Stepping away from her recent couture looks, Beckinsale opted for a more modest appeal — pairing a sleeveless orange blouse with a sky-blue pencil skirt and pyramid earrings by Melinda Maria as she made her down the red carpet.

The 39-year-old actress completed the look with aviator shades and pulled-back hair, as she showed off her summer glow.

Yet, she sure didn’t skimp on her shoes — the brunette amped up the volume on her outfit with a pair of nude studded Christian Louboutin pumps.

In fact, her classy ensemble reminds Celebuzz of a certain First Lady.

Michelle Obama donned a tangerine top with a sky-blue above-the-knee skirt when she taped an episode of Top Chef in Dallas, Texas, on Feb. 10.

To accentuate her figure, President Barack Obama‘s wife belted her outfit. And it’s safe to say Michelle’s look was more conservative, as Beckinsale chose a far more form-fitted skirt.

This week saw an array of sexy styles sported across the country as one of Hollywood’s Classic 1990 films, Total Recall, got remade into a modern day sci-fi.

Celebrities like Kate Middleton looked utterly flawless for the camera, as some other stars clearly did not check the mirror before stepping out in public.

One fashionista to flop was designer Stella McCartney, whose bright, patterned outfit was a bit blinding at the UK’s Creative Industries Reception.

However, other London-native Kate Beckinsale looked absolutely gorgeous this week while promoting her new action thriller, Total Recall.

Total Recall, a reboot of the 1990s action-packed sci-fi film, hit theaters Friday.

In Len Wiseman’s revamped version, Colin Farrell stars as lead character Douglas Quaid — a role originally filled by Arnold Schwarzenegger — alongside Kate Beckinsale (Quaid’s wife), Jessica Biel (a rebel fighter) and Bryan Cranston (the corrupt Chancellor Cohaagen).

The mind-bending tale — scripted by Kurt Wimmer and Bryan Cranston and based on a short story by the dystopian fantasist Bryan Cranston — is set in an end-of-the-21st-century post-apocalyptic world. Earth has been devastated by chemical warfare, leaving only two livable areas — United Federation of Britain and the Colony — connected by a tunnel through the planet’s core. Quaid, a down-on-his-luck factory worker, tries to transform dreams into reality through a form of technology called Rekall.

The remake has a lot to live up to next to its iconic Paul Verhoeven-helmed predecessor.

So how does the new film size up?

While some critics applaud the high-energy, star-studded reboot, others criticize a film they claim doesn’t compare to the original masterpiece.

Some suggest the non-stop action overshadows any traceable storyline. “The movie has a lot of chasing, shouting and fighting, carried out in crowded, over-scale frames without much regard for either action-film effectiveness or narrative coherence,” said the NY Times. “So much information is thrown at you in such a haphazard fashion that your ability to care dwindles along with your willingness to enjoy any of it.

The reviewer admitted, “After less than 24 hours, I can’t recall anything Mr. Farrell said or did, other than run from Ms. Beckinsale, sometimes in the company of Jessica Biel.”

The LA Times agrees. “After too many hard-to-follow chases out windows and doors and up and down ultramodern elevator shafts…our systems end up on overload,” reads the review. “The fun is fun while it lasts — it just doesn’t last long enough.”

And as for how it measures up top the 1990 real deal: “2012′s Total Recall is not exactly a remake or even a reboot,” said the LA Times. “Both films were inspired by the playful Philip K. Dick short story ‘We Can Remember It for You Wholesale,’ and some things are carried over from the first film to this one.”

CNN says, “In short, Underworld director Len Wiseman has ransacked bigger, better imaginations to produce something that looks and sounds like a wholesale rip-off.”

And others agree that the film brings nothing new to the table. “The original Arnold Schwarzenegger movie was perfection — a moonbeam James Bond better than any actual James Bond movie,” said the New York Post. “The central pleasure of the movie was its twists, and as the same twists got rolled out in the remake, I kept thinking: ‘Yes, that was surprising to me in 1990.’”

San Francisco Chronicle, in the end, gives Total Recall an all-around thumbs-down: “For all of its dazzlingly rendered cityscapes and nonstop action, this revamped Total Recall is a bland thing — bloodless, airless, humorless, featureless. With or without the triple-bosomed prostitute.”

But not all the critiques were so harsh. The Washington Post thinks the Farrell-led remake has a leg up on the original. “While it may not be a fully realized take on Dick’s forward-thinking work, it’s still a far better film than the Verhoeven version,” writes the critic.

And while it may not pack surprises, the Chicago Sun-Times still sees a successful movie. “Total Recall is well-crafted, high energy sci-fi…It never touched me emotionally, though, the way the 1990 film did, and strictly speaking, isn’t necessary.”

Last week’s releases — The Watch and Step Up Revolution — proved to be no match for The Dark Knight Rises, as the Batman movie continues to dominate at the box office for it second weekend in a row. However, could action flick Total Recall knock the summer blockbuster from its top spot?

Based on a short story by sci-fi author Philip K. Dick, the film stars Colin Farrell as a lowly factory worker who discovers that his memory was once erased, and now is on the run from a group of radicals who would stop at nothing to hunt down his secrets.

Though 1990 also saw a cinematic adaptation of the same story, director Len Wiseman and actresses Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel promises this rendition will not follow the same plot.

Besides ‘Total Recall’, what other movie is in contention for box office dominanation this weekend?

Couples flick Celeste and Jesse Forever also premieres this week and hopes to captivate the date night crowd.

Starring Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg and Parks and Recreation‘s Rashida Jones, Celeste and Jesse Forever revolves around high school sweethearts who decide to end their longtime marriage, only to find trouble in maintaining a casual friendship.

The film first debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is currently sitting at a 73% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Kate Beckinsale hasn’t been seduced by 50 Shades of Grey.

As Hollywood buzzes about possible casting for the big-screen version of E.L. James‘ hit book, the Total Recall beauty told us that she has no opinion on who should play Christian Grey — or any other Fifty Shades character, for that matter.

The reason?

“I haven’t [read the book], so I can’t possibly say,” the 39-year-old told Celebuzz at Wednesday night’s Total Recall premiere in Hollywood, Calif.  “The whole idea of that sounds very exhausting to me.”

Promoting her role as Lori Quaid, wife of Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell) in the remake of the original 1990 sci-fi flick, Beckinsale looked flawless at the event, donning a fitted gown with her hair neatly pinned back.

The film was directed by Beckinsale’s hubby, Len Wiseman, who also directed the actress’ Underworld series.

He’s married to one of the hottest women in Hollywood so it’s no wonder Len Wiseman hates watching his wife, Kate Beckinsale, 39, get hot and heavy with other men.

Despite tying the knot eight years ago, the Total Recall director, 39, still can’t shake the green eyed monster when it comes to directing his lady’s love scenes.

Whether it’s a nude shot with Scott Speedman, 36, in Underworld Evolution — or a simple kiss with Colin Farrell, 36, in the Total Recall remake —  it doesn’t get any easier for Wiseman.

So how does he deal with watching Kate’s love scenes?

“It’s just weird and it really helps that I’ve gone through that experience twice,” Wiseman told Celebuzz.

“It’s amazing how much your blood boils immediately if you call cut and it doesn’t stop right way. On Underworld, I was being very polite and they didn’t hear me. You’ve got to stop when I call cut. So now I make a point of having a megaphone during love scenes.”

Surprisingly, Wiseman originally thought of Beckinsale to play the 3-breasted hooker in the film remake, but got the thumbs down from his famous wife.

“I’m sure it was largely so that we could keep the costume, actually — and not really anything else,” Beckinsale confided to Celebuzz, about being offered the part.

“But I’m really glad I didn’t do that. I see how much attention that poor woman’s breasts have got and I’ve got an 8th grader and I think I’d be in the dog house so badly for that.”

As for performing love scenes in front of her husband, Beckinsale said she felt no pressure.

“I think it’s possible, as a woman, to be fairly enigmatic,” said the actor.

“We don’t have any movable parts. Nobody can tell what we’re really thinking. I think it’s much harder for boys.”

However, Farrell wasn’t quite as keen to get cozy with his co-star while her husband was on set and admitted it was one of the most awkward situations he’s experience in more than 15-years in the business.

“Len wasn’t even polite enough to leave the room,” he joked. “Thank god it barely touched first base.”

How does Kate Beckinsale manage to work with director husband Len Wiseman? By keeping her cell close by at all times!

While it may seem like the couple keeps the peace on set, the Total Recall actress admits that she and her hubby squabble plenty — just via text message.

“If we’re on set, you know, and we’re having an argument or anything … it’s very useful because we can have a vicious argument without anyone knowing,” Beckinsale told The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. “It’s a bit embarrassing, he’s directing the movie, I’m in the movie, and we’re shouting … it’s very un-British.”

So instead, the brunette beauty, 38, turns to texting to discreetly duke it out with Wiseman. ”It’s amazing how quickly you can type out douchebag,” she confessed with a laugh.

And her husband isn’t the only one filling up her inbox.

Beckinsale’s 13-year-old daughter Lily — her child with ex-boyfriend Michael Sheen — constantly begs to hop on the social media bandwagon.

“I have my daughter harassing me every five minutes, can I please have a Facebook?” said this month’s Glamour cover girl. “And I’m going, no, no. I don’t want her to.”

But her daughter does have permission to watch Beckinsale’s must-see British TV show, Embarrassing Bodies, on which people seek out medical opinions on odd physical problems like “something to do with your a**, or some penis thing,” she explained.

“It’s my absolute favorite,” the 38-year-old actress confessed. “It’s just stunning to me that people would do this. I’m fascinated.”

“I love going back to England…because you can turn on the television…and there’s some program with a really overweight man gloomily washing his naked body,” she continued. “And you never see that in America. And I think you’d be the better for it.”

Kate Beckinsale may be named one of the sexiest women alive, but she hasn’t always been so confident about her body. Opening up to Allure Magazine, the 38-year-old actress reveals that she was insecure about her looks — until she met her now-husband Len Wiseman.

“Feeling attractive didn’t come until I was 29 and with Len… At the time it was partly perceived as if I’d gone all Hollywood, but it wasn’t like that at all,” she said in Allure‘s August 2012 issue.

“It was just OK for me to walk around and feel feminine and attractive. I like feeling liberated like this.”

But how does she really feel about aging in Hollywood?

Beckinsale is aging with grace and confidence.

“What is it about a woman being in her late 30s that brings out the ‘Oh, my gosh, are you worried?’ questions? Worried? What about? 38, 39, 40, 50! Great! Still alive!” she said.

She playfully added: “I haven’t experienced a full facial collapse, I haven’t suddenly gained 20 pounds that won’t go away, or a beard. That probably will happen, but it hasn’t yet.”

Celebuzz spoke with Beckinsale, 38, at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, Calif., where the actress dished on what fans can really expect from their two dueling characters.

“It’s not a girly fight. It’s a proper fight,” she told us. “Nobody’s top suddenly comes off. We don’t get into a bath full of jelly.”

However, the British babe was worried about one thing when the cameras started rolling.

“I didn’t have that much time between movies, so I was concerned that I would be the one that got the choreography wrong and broke her chin,” she said.

Celebuzz also caught up with Beckinsale’s costar, Colin Farrell, that day and the actor had nothing but kind words about the ladies.

“They are two very tough ladies. Don’t be fooled by the long legs and elegant heels,” he said.

Total Recall hits theaters August 3.

Don’t mess with Jessica Biel.

Colin Farrell is down at Comic-Con in San Diego to promote Total Recall, and the Irish actor told Celebuzz he would not want to mess with costars Kate Beckinsale or Jessica Biel.

“They are two very tough ladies,” Farrell, 36, said. “Don’t be fooled by the long legs and elegant heels.”

Colin continued:

They are very, very tough ladies. They are two scrappers. I was just glad I didn’t have to fight Jessica. I only fought with one of them, who happened to be the director’s wife. So I kissed her, fought her and that was it.”

We’re sure the fact Beckinsale’s husband — and Total Recall director — Len Wiseman was on set watching Colin and Kate kiss take after take wasn’t weird at all.

“Not strange at all,” Farrell joked sarcastically. ” Not uncomfortable on the set at all. Len (yells), ‘Cut!’ and I haven’t even kissed her yet, I was just leaning in!”

In the film, Farrell’s character visits Rekall – a company that provides its clients with implanted fake memories of a life they would like to have led.

So if Colin could live in a memory, what would it be and why?

“Alexander,” he told us. “I’d like to inhabit that man’s mind for just a few minutes.”

This fourth installment of Kate’s popular vampire flick Underworld: Awakening finished at No. 1 at the box office over the weekend in the U.S., bringing in more than predicted, $25.3 million! The release date for the film in Spain is set for this coming Friday, Jan. 27.

Kate says Seth actually apologized for putting her on the spot, because the remark wasn’t rehearsed or planned. Judging from her giggles on the red (actually black) carpet at the Underworld: Awakenings premiere in Hollywood, she was quite amused by his comment!

“He was like, ‘I’m really sorry about that, I hope you don’t mind,’” she reveals with a laugh. “I said, no, no, it’s fine.”

When it comes to onscreen vampires, we had to wonder who would win in a battle of the ladies — Bella from Twilight or Selene from Underworld?

Booboo Stewart says we haven’t seen much of Bella as a vampire, so it could be anybody’s guess.

Other celebs, however, were clearly on team Selene! Costars India Eisley, Theo James and Michael Ealy didn’t even take a pause when picking a side. “Selene is a DEATH DEALER,” Michael said. “She kills people. That’s what she does.” 

Theo agreed, adding, “She’s old school.”
