Can Kevin Jonas’ Marriage Survive Reality Show Curse? Expert Weighs In (EXCLUSIVE)

With couples like Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline all divorcing after having reality shows together, curse speculation is already brewing around Kevin Jonas and his wife Danielle, as they embark on their upcoming E! reality series, Married to Jonas.

The couple, who wed in 2009, are slated to star in the show, which focuses on the ups and downs of being married to a pop superstar, but could this exposure be the end of the young couple’s marriage?

Celebuzz caught up with Patrick Wanis, PhD Human Behavior & Relationship Expert & Celebrity Life Coach, who believes Jonas and his wife will have trouble surviving in a world that rewards conflict and fighting.

“Although Kevin has gained popularity and fame through his music, there is a huge difference between performing on stage or going on tour — and filming a reality show with cameras around 24 hours a day. They aren’t documenting real life, but instead catching drama that will please the audience,” Wanis said.

Although the couple may to be in love, they will be put to the test like couples before them with the show intensifying the best and worst of each person.

“If the couple got along beautifully and just held hands, kissed and sat around watching movies, there would be no show. The only reason there’s a show is because someone expects that there is going to be drama, conflict, insecurities and skeletons brought out of the closet,” Wanis added.

As seen from Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries‘ 72 day marriage, most of the failed reality show couples barely knew each other before exposing their relationship to the world. With little time together to solidify their romance, a marriage can quickly be put on the rocks when the couple are expected to act a certain way for ratings.

“All the potential tests and tribulations one would go through over decades, gets condensed into a very short space of time when you’re filming. It speeds up and intensifies life experiences and creates extraordinary amounts of stress,” Wanis said, adding that infidelity rates are heightened.

Although Jonas has deep Christian roots — and even reportedly waited to have sex until marriage — Wanis says reality TV can “erode a person’s values” and eventually lead either party to stray. Only time will tell if Kevin and Danielle will make it to the season finale before problems occur.

“This show will be the ultimate test of their marriage. If they survive, it’ll make them stronger,” he said.

And if they break up? “They’ll get to know a lot more about themselves and gain much greater self awareness. They’ll be able to figure out what they both really want in life and future relationships.”

It’s time to start keeping up with the Jonas’.

Kevin Jonas and his wife Danielle Jonas, who wed in 2009, are slated to star in an upcoming reality series, Married to Jonas. The series, produced by Ryan Seacrest, will premiere on E! this summer and focuses on the ups and downs of being married to a pop superstar.

Although Kevin is starring, will he be bringing his bros along for the reality show?

Yes! In addition to focusing on marriage, the reality series will also look at Jonas’ music career with his brothers Joe and Nick.

“When we learned that Dani married Kevin, our production team became curious about what life would be like for a young bride entering the excitement, and sometimes chaos, of a pop star’s life,” Seacrest said in a statement. “Looking through the lens of young love, the show will examine the ups and downs of Dani and Kevin’s marriage, against the backdrop of their contrasting family cultures, traditions and individual careers,” he added.

The couple seem happy to begin their new reality TV journey, but with Patrick Wanis, PhD Human Behavior & Relationship Expert & Celebrity Life Coach, believes Jonas and his wife will have trouble surviving in a world that rewards conflict and fighting and will likely fall victim to the reality TV curse.

Jo Bros fans rejoice! Kevin Jonas tweeted a video of his brothers Joe and Nick making music with the hashtag: #JonasBrothers2012.

The video shows the guys playing around with some different sounds, one of which is Joe’s very high-pitched voice. Nick is in front of the keyboard, Joe in front of his laptop and we’re assuming Kevin was behind the camera.

The boys took a break from their pop group to work on solo projects this past year, and were rather successful.

Nick hit the stage on Broadway and in a production for Hairspray, Joe released a solo album, while Kevin took some time to be a newlywed. Now, it seems they’re back and ready to record. This past summer, we asked Joe about a JoBros reunion, and he was very optimistic. While on his solo tour, he even admitted that he was eager to have his brothers join him from time to time on stage. Looks like his dreams are coming true!

After a long hiatus and multiple solo projects, the famous brothers have regrouped to release “Dance Until Tomorrow”. The upbeat dance track is their latest song together since Lines, Vines and Trying Times‘ release in 2009.

In the last few months, Joe and Nick have been promoting their solo projects. Joe joined pop legend Britney Spears on the European leg of her Femme Fetale Tour while Nick branched out into theater and TV.

From boy band to husband, we feel like we’ve watched Kevin Jonas grow up right before our eyes! The oldest of the Jonas Brothers, Kevin has been laying low these days, soaking up the joys of married life with his wife, Danielle Deleasa!

Rewind a few years and the Jonas Brothers were dominating Disney and owning the top spot on the charts. Back in 2005, Kevin, with his brothers, Nick Jonas and Joe Jonas, released their first “limited edition” album titled Please Be Mine under Columbia Records. Just two years later the Jo Bros. were dropped by Columbia but were signed shortly after with Hollywood Records.

The trio released their second album, Jonas Brothers, in 2007 and within it’s first week, the record hit number five on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. The following year, the guys released their third album, A Little Bit Longer , which peaked at no. 1 on the Billboard 200. Most recently, their 2009 album, Lines, Vines, and Trying Times, also hit no. 1 on the Billboard charts.

Aside from his vocals, Kevin starred alongside Nick, Joe and Frankie Jonas (bonus Jonas) for their Disney series, Jonas. The guys play in a band as a cover for their actual jobs, government secret agents out to save the world! The series was short lived and cancelled in 2010, just in time for Kevin to settle into the married life!

Kevin and Danielle wed back in 2009, with Kevin’s brothers by his side as his best men. Wonder if we’re going to be seeing a little Jonas in the near future? Check out the gallery to see Kevin through the years!

Exclusive: Kevin Jonas Talks Kids, Charity & Joe’s New Single

Kevin Jonas and wife Danielle looked glam at the 2011 Do Something Awards kick-off event at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City on Monday night. Kevin hosted their annual kick-off event to celebrate 13 semi-finalists who are making a world of difference to a social cause.

“I’m honored to be a part of this event. These kids are changing the world and making a difference. It’s very inspirational,” Jonas told Celebuzz.

Aside from all his involvement in charities, Kevin is enjoying married life and relocating to New Jersey to be closer to their families. So could this finally mean babies for the oldest Jo Bro?

Not quite. “We’ve talked about starting a family because it is so important to us. There will be kids in our future but not right now,” he said.

As for brother Joe Jonas’ new solo single “See No More,” Kevin says fans are in for a fun new tune.

“I already have his single and love it. I can’t get it out of my head,” he gushed.

It’s hard to decide who is cuter: Joe Jonas, Kevin Jonas or Joe’s adorable bulldog Winston. (We think Winston might beat the brothers by a little wet nose.)

Joe and Kevin were on doggy duty when they were spotted walking the adorable Winston around Los Angeles earlier this week. Both brothers looked casual in t-shirts and sunglasses while Joe showed off his sporty side by wearing a New York Giants baseball cap. Meanwhile, lil’ Winston looked sharp in a red leash.

Joe is currently working on his first solo album, which he describes as being more techno and house music-based than previous Jonas Brothers albums. The JoBro singer recently teased his fans with the promise of some exciting news on his Twitter, but he was silent about details. Hm, what could this big news be?

Jonas Brothers To Honor Ronald Reagan in Concert

While only Kevin Jonas was alive when Ronald Reagan was in office, the Jonas Brothers have signed on to honor the 40th President of the United States in a special concert tribute.

The JoBros will be part of a weekend celebration for what would have been the Gipper’s 100th birthday on February 6. The band will record a video tribute to Reagan and his family which will air live on the Reagan Foundation’s website on February 5.

Other celebs that are slated to join the brothers include The Beach Boys and Lone Star. Former presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush will also submit video tributes to the legendary Republican president.

This isn’t the first time that the Jonas Brothers have mixed in with politics: Nick Jonas has repeatedly said that he would like to run for President of the United States in the future and he even testified in front of the U.S. Senate in 2009 to lobby for funding for diabetes research.

The happy couple married one year ago on Decemeber 19 at Oheka Castle in New York and celebrated with a fun filled day at Disney World.

Jonas Brothers Have No Contact With Demi Lovato

Although they used to be besties, Kevin Jonas revealed on MTV’s The Seven that he and his brothers have had no contact with Demi Lovato since she quit their tour and entered rehab.

“We really haven’t had any contact with her,” Kevin said, “But of course we wish her well in her recovery.”

Demi was touring with the Jonas Brothers in late October when she allegedly got into a fight with dancer Alex Welch and checked herself into a treatment center. Kevin and his brothers finished their tour without Demi.

Although Demi has been in rehab since October her name has still be in the news. The dancer that Demi allegedly punched is threatening to sue the Disney star.

‘Jonas L.A.’ Officially Canceled

As it turns out, the Jonas Brothers aren’t all-powerful after all. Who knew?

Paul Hoen, director of the JoBros’ Disney TV series Jonas L.A., confirmed that the show has been canceled over the weekend. The series, originally titled Jonas, debuted on the Disney Channel in May 2009 and had been nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Children’s Program category this year.

In a tweet that has since been removed from his account, Hoen wrote,

“Sadly no more Jonas LA.”

Sad news, indeed. On the plus side, now Joe Jonas will have more time for globetrotting with his new girlfriend Ashley Greene.

Nick Jonas Tumbles on Stage in Mexico

Nick Jonas suffered what he calls “an epic fail” not once, but two times while trying to perform an onstage flip with the assistance of his brother Joe Jonas at a concert last Sunday in Mexico City.

The youngest member of the Jonas Brothers tweeted afterward: ”Great show… even though I had an epic fail during the flips with Joe. Can’t wait to see that on YouTube…. Not.”

Celebs Raise a Glass for Breast Cancer Awareness

With October officially Breast Cancer Awareness month, everyone — including some famed NY hotspots — is trying to spread the word to raise awareness about this deadly disease.

For the entire month, select bars in NYC are featuring a special “Pinktini” Cosmopolitan cocktail. 50% of sales of the drink, made with Vision Vodka, Triple Sec, cranberry juice and a splash of lime, goes directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Former Beatle John Lennon was slain in 1980, but his music is still casting a wide influence on musicians who weren’t even born during his lifetime. Just ask the Jonas Brothers. Or, don’t bother—they’ll tell you themselves.

Lennon would have been 70 years old on Saturday, and to pay tribute as well as acknowledge their musical debt to Lennon, Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas recorded a video commemorating his birth.
