After the animal rights organization sent her a letter insisting she stop flaunting the furs in her public personage, the Milkshakian melodist took to her MySpace and fired back a sharp and biting attack on the animal rights organization, which included:

“I would eat pterodactyl if you found some and you told me it was meaty and delicious.”

“If I started wearing endangered animals like polar bear or orangutan then talk to me. [...] But the minks and chinchilla that quite honestly are rodents and if weren’t in the form of a coat I would demand they be put to death anyway are not an issue to me.”

“I eat meat, and in fact my mouth salivates as I type the word meat!”

“If u want to preach do it about something worthwhile don’t waste my time trying to save the dang chipmunk. [...] Quite honestly if you hate the world so much go live in the forest where no one else has to hear you complain about the perfectly good food chain the good Lord created.”

Hard to mistake Kelis’ opinion on the matter.

To be even-handed to Kelis, the full text of her response clearly indicates her concern for national and global social and human rights issues; she just doesn’t believe animals rights in the manner of PETA rises to the same level as these other issues.

How PETA Tames The Easily Tameable Hollywood Celebrity

Sure, there’s the red paint tossers destroying fashionable stoles and wraps, but for the Hollywood “enlightened”, the physical assaults pale in comparison the jabs to the politically correct reputation.

No celeb wants to be seen as dismissive or inattentive to the plight or suffering of anybody, or anything.  Dashing one’s furs (or meat eating) into the fire provides a public cleansing of the celebrity soul, like visiting the confessional after an evening of noteworthy debauchery.

If you don’t genuflect before the PETA edict, you are subject to various and sundry acts of snippiness and snark.

PETA begins with its annual Worst Dressed Celebrity List that targets fur wearing fashionistas, and with some great success.

Jellyfish-spined like celebs have been turned into mindless, apologetic robots after seeing their names on this dreaded list.  After making the list in 2005 and receiving numerous press release attacks from PETA, Paris Hilton agreed to view a series of revolting animals-being-tortured videos and surrendering her furs to the authorities.

Christina Ricci was so ashamed to be on the 2006 list, that she agreed to watch Martha Stewart-narrated slaughterhouse videos; PETA’s own version of theatrical waterboarding.  Ricci was so “corrected” by her educational experiences, she wrote the following letter to PETA:

“I never meant to hurt nor anger anyone with my insensitivity. For what it is worth I have received the message loud and clear and will not be wearing fur in the future. I apologize for my offensive actions.”

Now there’s the indie spirit we’ve come to know and love from Ricci.

Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie are but a couple others who bowed to the sharp-barbed-grade-school taunts of the ever-angry animal rights organization. (PETA repeatedly attacked Richie for being anorexic and trying to cover up her “skin and bones” with animal fur.)

For some celebrities, especially the D-listers, joining forces with PETA actually provides them a little bit of media recognition they might not otherwise get.  PETA’s “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” has featured a number of junior league players showing off their wares. 

Honestly, where else can an actress get a chance to flaunt her nude body for media attention and receive public commendation?

Some Celebrities Are Fighting Back

In addition to Kelis’ latest stand, a few other brave, or clueless, or clueless and brave Tinsel Towners have refused to give up the real fur in spite of pressure from PETA.

Jessica Simpson seemed to be taking a carnivorous stand back in 2008 when she sported her “Real Girls Eat Meat” t-shirt to the football game of her then boyfriend, Tony Romo.  PETA continues to attack Simpson regularly.

The Olsen Twins have been on PETA’s hit-list for many years, and despite public taunts and biting remarks as to their apparent (non) eating disorders, the Twins responded by adding additional fur pieces to their fashion lines.

Kate Moss, of Kate Moss fame, has repeatedly ignored nasty comments from PETA about her personal life and continued to make public appearances with the pelts of nearly the entire zoological phylum wrapped around her body.

Kid Rock cites his love of all things huntin’ and fur as a factor in the breakup of his marriage to PETA-supporting wife, Pam Anderson.  He’s dared PETA to come toss red-paint on his beloved fur coats.

Britney Spears has been a recurring target of PETA’s wrath, though it seems they decided to mostly lay off her for a while as she journeyed into her own world of crazy and lost custody of her kids a couple years ago.  (Though they came back to express outrage over the elephants in her “Circus” video.)

The Future of PETA’s Battle versus Celebrities

People have been wearing furs since the first days man could walk upright.  They were eating meat even before that.  Contrary to scientific theory, celebrities are people.

We suspect that while PETA will continue to badger more and more celebrities into ditching their animal “cruelty”, there will be an ever increasing backlash to the sanctimonious and sarcastic manner in which PETA peels off and attacks helpless celebrities.

Expect more Kelis-like letters in the future.

To fulfill my oath of service to Celebuzz readers, I have personally reviewed each and every one of these sex tapes from the comfort of my beloved, second-hand, green-velvet porn couch. Sifting through dozens of hours of celebrity sex tapes has driven home one point above all else: these people need writers. The dialog … yikes.

Taylor Swift stepped out of her comfort zone at the CMT Awards on Tuesday night, busting out some previously hidden mad rhyming skills with rapper T-Pain for the ceremony’s opening number, “Thug Story.”

A gritty song about the skills that one needs to survive on the streets—such as, in Taylor’s case, baking cookies—served as an early high point for one of the biggest nights in country music.  But the Fearless songbird’s night was far from over. The 19-year-old went on to pick up Video of the Year and Female Video awards for her clip “Love Story.” (The video’s director, Trey Fanjoy, also won kudos.) Here’s a complete list of last night’s winners:

The pop/hip-hop/R&B star married her longtime Transformers love (they’ve been together for five years) on January 10.

The bride, who busted her butt to lose weight for the wedding, was radiant in two (yes, two) specially made Dolce & Gabanna dresses, and referred to her wedding as “magical” and “ethereal.”

Us has the first official pictures (and the caricature that served as the couple’s wedding invitation).  The magazine spoke to the groom about how it went. What did he think when he first saw Fergalicious, 33, rolling down the aisle?

“Keep it together, you big baby!” he joked.

Duhamel, 36, also noted that the wedding, held at the Church Estate Vineyard in Malibu, “incorporated both of our personalities.”

And what were Fergie’s first words after the official Catholic ceremony had taken place?

“I’m married, bitches!”

“People were cheering and screaming. It was like being at a rock concert,” a guest reported.

Well, considering that Kid Rock, Will.I.Am and Slash were all there as guests (and jammed with the bride during the reception)—that kind of makes sense.

The unlikey club-fellows hit up nightspot The Felix in Berlin, Germany, after both made an appearance on national hit talkshow Wetten Das.

What’s more unsettling? Uma’s nod to her host country by arranging milkmaid in her blonde locks, the cigarette Kid Rock is about to light or their general bonding vibe when you know a David Hasselhoff remix is pumping though the venue?

Despite the bizarre scene, we’re sure it’s good news that Kid has been getting some culture of late, and some pals with higher profiles.

What’s next, Kid? A little yachting with the Lake Como crowd?

The ceremony, which takes place Thursday at the Echo Arena, will be hosted by Freddie Mercury impersonator Perry, whose performance hopefully won’t fall flat.

Stogie-puffer Kid Rock, meanwhile, is among the roster of performers for this year’s show. Mr. Rock-N-Roll Jesus will be joined by the likes of the Killers, Pink, Kanye West and Beyonce.

Nice to see that a guy who’s still a little wet behind the ears can rise up and count himself among that kind of A-List talent. The MTV lineup definitely beats some of the company he’s been known to keep.

Joining the festivities were Eve, Kid Rock and clockwatcher Flava Flav.

30 Rock‘s Tracy Morgan was the illustrious guest host.

This year, artists including Cypress Hill, De La Soul, Naughty By Nature, Slick Rick and Too $hort were among the honorees for their contributions to hip-hop.

Performing artists included all of the above, as well as Wyclef Jean, Big Boi, Lil Jon, Estelle, Busta Rhymes and the Gym Class Heroes.

The show will air on VH-1 on October 6.

The event, sponsored by the Conde Nast Media Group, highlighted the relationship between music and fashion. But the concert also had a philanthropic side: Proceeds will go to cancer-research group Stand Up to Cancer.

The evening’s festivities—hosted by the always-fashionable Denis Leary—included performances by Fergie, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, the Pussycat Dolls, Keith Urban and Kid Rock. One of the show’s biggest highlights was a duet between Justin Timberlake and Beyonce on the Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrel classic “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing.”

The dude’s built a career on rocking unwashed, stringy hair, faded tattoos and less-than-fresh sweats and wife beaters while puffing on a cigar and guzzling Natty Light. Could this be a whole new era? Cleanliness!

Pam Anderson‘s never going to take him back now. She likes her men grungy.

While the busty starlet was strutting along beside skateboarding son Dylan in New York’s Central Park, a mysterious soccer player tried to engage her in some ball play.

Check out Pam’s pleading eyes. She’s like, “Anybody got some mace? A silver bullet even?”

Maybe her ex Kid Rock was sending evil thoughts her way from across the globe. Pam probably wished she were in another country, too.

But really, she should just hook up with this guy. Yeah, the hospital scrubs make you wonder if he busted out of the psych ward. But at least he’s a step up from the usual alternatives.

In an interview with BBC News, he compared today’s artists to those of yesteryear. “Back in the day, we all know the stories of the Otis Reddings and Chuck Berrys and Fats Dominos who never got paid. So the Internet was an opportunity for everyone to be treated fairly, for the consumer to get a fair price, for the artist to be paid fairly, for the record companies to make some money.”

But the mangy ex-husband of Pamela Anderson says the arrangement isn’t exactly working.

“It’s based on an old system where iTunes takes the money, the record company takes the money, and they don’t give it to the artists,” he says.

Rock’s latest album, Rock N Roll Jesus (arrogant, much?), hit number one in the U.S. last year despite its absence from iTunes. He says he may change his mind about the music behemoth but not any time soon.

“I will be on iTunes eventually, because I can’t avoid it, but I like to always stick to my guns and prove a point and do something original…because I believe in it.”

His new single “All Summer Long seems to have already unstuck his guns—it’s available on iTunes in Europe.

He used strippers utilizing their poles on the back of a flatbed truck to promote the song in London. Always keepin’ it klassy, Kid!
