Sutherland—whose colorful history includes multiple DUI busts and a 2009 head-butting incident—reportedly caused yet another commotion this week in London, which culminated in the actor being tossed shirtless from a strip club at 4 a.m., after which he stumbled around in the street as a gathering of paparazzi snapped away.

The evening reportedly kicked off at the Covent Garden hotel bar, where Sutherland knocked back wine with a pal until two in the morning. From there, quite naturally, it was off to nearby Stringfellow’s Gentleman’s Club, where, according o club owner Peter Stringfellow,

“Around about 3:15 a.m. [Sutherland] decided it would be very funny to take his shirt off. When it was explained to him very gently that that was the job of the girls and not the customers he burst out laughing. His friend thought that this would be a good time for them go home.”

The bouncers were apparently in agreement, and escorted the half-dressed Sutherland out the back door in a vain attempt to evade the paparazzi. Eventually the actor was piled into his car and chauffeured back to his hotel.

Well, you have to give him points for not driving, at least…

The network has just announced another round of celebs who will be presenting at Sunday’s ceremony, including Star Trek‘s Chris Pine, 24 star Kiefer Sutherland, and Sacha Baron Cohen‘s character Brüno. 

This will be Kiefer’s first public appearance since his recent brush with the law, in which he allegedly head-butted designer Jack McCollough during an altercation at an after-party for the Met Costume Gala. 

The main event at the awards show, of course, will be Twilight. The movie is up for a whopping seven awards, and a sneak peek of the second film, New Moon, will also be shown.

People magazine reports that Sutherland’s lawyer, Michael C. Miller, has released a statement claiming that the 24 actor isn’t to blame for allegedly head-butting designer Jack McCollough on May 4 during an after-party for the Met Costume Gala in New York.

“We are  troubled by the untruthful and self-serving information circulating regarding Kiefer Sutherland and events of last Monday evening,” the statement reads. “We are confident, however, that the investigation being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the NYPD will confirm that Kiefer Sutherland was neither the instigator nor a wrongdoer in this incident.”

Miller didn’t bother to specify which information he considers to be “untruthful” and “self-serving.” According to accounts, Sutherland head-butted McCollough after the designer accidentally bumped into Brooke Shields. McCollough asserts that the alleged incident left him with a broken nose that required surgery.

Meanwhile, an attorney for Shields has issued his own statement on her behalf, recounting the evening’s events.

“While at the party she was bumped into by Jack McCollough and Kiefer Sutherland became concerned. Kiefer has always been a gentleman in her company,” reads the statement from Shield’s lawyer, Gerald Lefcourt. “Both Jack and Kiefer are friends of Ms. Shields and she regrets this unfortunate situation.”

Sounds like a case of he said/she said/he head-butted.

Sutherland, who has been charged with third-degree assault in the incident, is due to be arraigned on June 22 at Manhattan Criminal Court.

The BBC reports that the 42-year-old actor surrendered himself to police at the 1st Precinct of the NYPD on Thursday after allegedly head-butting designer Jack McCollough during an altercation at an after-party for the Met Costume Gala in New York on Monday.

The man who plays Jack Bauer wasn’t arrested, but he was charged with assault and is expected back in court to face the charge on June 22.

If found guilty, Sutherland could be found in violation of his parole stemming from his prior DUI sentence. Prosecutors could theoretically send the actor back to jail, which would entail a delay in filming for the next season of his TV series 24.  

According to a friend of Sutherland’s, he’s already feeling remorse over the incident.

“Kiefer is sorry it happened,” the friend notes. “Absolutely. It’s terribly regrettable.”

Kiefer Sutherland may be taking his role as Jack Bauer on 24 a little too seriously. 

At Monday night’s MET Costume Institute Gala after-party, the hard-partying actor headbutted and broke the nose of Proenza Schouler designer Jack McCollough . All the details are fuzzy, but Kiefer is claiming that he was trying to protect Brooke Shields from Jack. 

Brooke was not harmed and is claiming that there was no inappropriate conduct that would warranted the alleged attack. A rep for the actress told TMZ, “Nothing happened to her … Jack did nothing inappropriate. It’s not clear what caused Kiefer to do what he did.”

While it is not yet known if Brooke was touched in the incident, she will be interviewed by the NYPD today for her side of the story. 

Kiefer is currently on probation in Los Angeles for his most recent DUI arrest last year. He was allegedly drunk at the time of the incident. 

Show star Kiefer Sutherland—who plays terrorist hunter Jack Bauer on the series—says the show will come to an end after next season, the Daily Mirror reports.

And the actor predicts that his character will meet a grim end.

“I see Jack as a really human figure and there is something innately tragic about people. I think there is no winning,” Sutherland, 42, offers. “We’re all going to die. There’s something kind of sad in that, and yet there’s something really beautiful and hopeful.”

The seventh season of the series—which won an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006—began on January 11, after a year’s delay caused by the writer’s strike.

Sutherland filmed a special two-hour episode, 24: Redemption, which filled in as a bridge between seasons six and seven and aired in November.

But apparently he’s ready to hang up the gun.

There is some good news for the series’ fans, though; 24‘s producers say that Jack Bauer may return in a movie, after the TV show has run its course.

But if the movie never materializes, Sutherland will just have to find something to occupy himself with.

Jack’s back to save the day in a special two-hour prequel to make up for last year’s axed seventh season, which was shortened due to that pesky little writer’s strike.

Serving as a bridge between season 6 and season 7, tonight’s mini-movie takes place in South Africa and is based on the real life situations in Rwanda.
