Kristen Stewart

Best known for playing Bella Swan in the popular Twilight movie saga, Kristen Stewart both wrapped filming of the the final two installments of the film and premiered the first installment titled The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 in November. She stars in the indie film On the Road and took on the lead role in Snow White and the Huntsman (due out in 2012) alongside Chris Hemsworth. Perhaps one of her biggest moments of the year came with her confirmation of the ongoing rumor that she was dating co-star Robert Pattinson. It’s about time!

Kristen Wiig

As one of the hottest and funniest Saturday Night Live cast members in recent years, 2011 saw Kristen Wiig rise to the spotlight. She not only gave stellar SNL performances of the public’s favorite characters, but she also premiered her first feature film Bridesmaids — a movie that she helped pen herself! It was arguably the best comedy of the year and it helped put her name up there with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as one of the most successful female comedians in the game. She has also wrapped filming on her next film Imogene which will be released in 2012 and also stars Glee hunk Darren Criss.

Kristen Bell

The always lovely Kristen Bell kicked off 2011 with a role in the much anticipated return of the Scream horror film series. She has spent much of the year filming not one, not two or even three, but four films due out next year: Dance of the Mirlitons, Movie 43, Big Miracle and House of Lies. She also continues to be the voice behind the popular television series Gossip Girl. She does continuous work with PETA and is the face of Neutrogena, and if that wasn’t enough, she’s engaged to funnyman Dax Shepard.

Kristin Cavallari

After her notable appearances in MTV’s popular reality series Laguna Beach and The Hills, Kristin Cavallari continued her acting chops on a 2011 episode of The Middle. She was also a participant on season 13 of the Dancing with the Stars reality competition with partner Mark Ballas. Cavallari continues to support PETA and do charity work for the non-profit organization One Kid, One World. Her biggest headlines of the year, however, came from her on-again-off-again relationship with Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. The two called off their engagement during the summer, but reunited in November.

Kristin Davis

Kristin Davis won us over with her fabulous fashion sense in the role of Charlotte in Sex and the City, and though it’s been a couple of years since the last SATC film, she continues to be in the spotlight. Davis has already filmed Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, a 3D action-adventure film that also stars Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens, which is due out next year. Davis won the Humane Society’s 2011 Wyler Award for her work with animals. Her biggest 2011 headlines, however, came with the news of her adoption of daughter Gemma Rose.

Just this week, Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and The Help actress Viola Davis revealed that they had adopted children. While Viola’s daughter Genesis is her first child, Mariska’s new son Andrew is third child, and second adopted one after she and husband Peter Hermann welcome daughter Amaya earlier in the year.

Jackson Rathbone, M. Night Shyamalan and the ladies from Sex and the City were all the big “winners” at Saturday night’s Golden Raspberry Awards (more commonly known as the Razzies) which honors the “worst” films and actors of the past year.

Unlike the Oscars, celebrities are often not present to accept their Golden Raspberry and this year’s award show was no different. Hey, can you really blame celebs for not wanting to honor their “worst” performances?

The Sex and the City actress starred in the 2005 classic The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D with current Twilight heartthrob Taylor Lautner, and four years later, she tells MTV that she still feels very mommy-ish toward T-Laut.

Says Kristin,

“He’s a great kid and he works really, really, really hard and he had a great professional ethic when I worked with him. [He was] nothing of those negative things that you think of with child actors. So for anyone to be succeeding, I’m happy for him. I’m just a little … I feel protective, like what is he doing without his shirt on? And then I hear he’s dating people and I’m like, ‘Ahh!’”

A source has revealed several plot details to Life and Style magazine, some unexpected, some not.

First, the obvious: Carrie Bradshaw and Big’s union is headed for rocky waters.

“Their marriage is going to face lots of challenges,” the tattletale reveals. “Big will be tempted by a younger colleague. It’s a juicy role for whoever they wind up casting.”

Marital trouble? Maybe Sarah Jessica Parker can draw from personal experience in preparing for that one?

All this assumes, of course, that Big actor Chris Noth will be in the sequel. As of this week, he has yet to sign on for the project. Guess he has trouble committing in real life too.

The mole adds that Samantha Jones will also have her share of woes.

“The proposed story line for Samantha will be her having to downsize her big-spending life after some of her investments get wiped out,” says the source. “You will see her having to survive on a more modest budget but still staying true to her fabulous taste.”

Sex star Kim Cattrall, 52, initially told Spice Girls member Melanie Brown that there would be a sequel to the hit movie back in November, but Sarah Jessica Parker, 43, played down her co-star’s statement just days later.

Now a source has told Us: “Not all the contracts are signed, but everyone is on board. It just happened.”

Rumors surrounding the hit Sex franchise—which also stars Kristin Davis, 43, and Cynthia Nixon, 42—are nothing new.

Just recently Parker was said to be angling to get Britney Spears to appear in the new film.

“We will do the sequel next summer…(it’s been) difficult getting everybody all together at the same time,” is what Kim told Melanie Brown recently on a British talk show.

Not so fast, Kim!

“I’m thrilled to know Kim is excited but all the deals are not yet done,” Parker said in her statement. “With ‘the wind on our heels,’ we hope to make it a reality.”

Translation: Easy there, Kim. Let’s iron out the finances first. The movie version of Sex and the City was huge. And I plan on getting paid, bitch!

The supple-legged beauty seen sashaying through the streets of New York City is Patricia Field, costume designer for the cable and big-screen versions of Sex and the City.

It all makes sense. With a guiding sartorial light like Field, is it any surprise that Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon so often look like this?

Entrusting wardrobe to this visionary is like having Jeffery Dahmer do catering for the set.

“Cynthia [Nixon] had a breast augmentation, and Kristin [Davis] had the varicose veins on her legs removed.” In the hopes of avoiding media attention, the actresses checked in on the “quietest day of the week.”

When contacted for confirmation, lo and behold, Kristin’s rep declined to comment, while Nixon’s claimed her breast-cancer survivor client did not get surgery.

But if the sequel to Sex and the City has Charlotte prancing around in miniskirts and Miranda begging the gals for a getaway to a topless beach, the real story will be pretty obvious.

Shocking even the film’s star, Sarah Jessica Parker, the film earned $55.7 million, taking in more than any other R-rated comedy on an opening weekend.

The Sex ladies brought in enough pocket money to knock Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull out of the top slot.

Parker talked to People magazine at the MTV Movie Awards about her romantic comedy’s record-breaking numbers, “To be No. 1 is unexpected.”

And in fact, it was, with the film’s earnings exceeding industry expectations.

Only time will tell if Sex has the stamina to keep on going all summer long.

The hometown New York Times turns a cold shoulder to Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda’s collective worth, saying the movie is “2 hours and 22 turgid minutes…awash in materialism and narcissism.”

Perhaps being slighted with sloppy seconds after London was chosen for the movie’s world premiere soured the Big Apple on Sex.

Further criticism came from fans of the franchise, who were disappointed by shoddy technical glitches that distracted from the story at hand.

But some SATC apologists argue that conflicting rumors about whether or not the film would even be made repeatedly raised and dashed hopes, leaving viewers jaded and critical of the project even before it hit the cineplex.

And many devotees feel the movie delivered the story, characters and fashions they had been craving during the past four years while the show was off the air.

Now there’s nothing left for the City kitties to do but sit and wait as their box office returns roll in.
