Lauren Cohan will never be able to eat Greek yogurt ever again. Not since Maggie Greene, her character on AMC’s The Walking Dead, had to cut a baby out of Lori’s (Sarah Wayne Callies) stomach. It turns out that Greek yogurt is an excellent stand in for the gelatinous quality of afterbirth.

“We used two-week-old babies and in between takes they covered the babies with yogurt and strawberry jam for blood,” she explained to Celebuzz. “Now, I can’t eat yogurt anymore and I used to love it!”

The 30-year-old actress says playing a zombie killer is “pretty good, it definitely beats playing a zombie.”

She says the success of the show isn’t surprising because, “it’s such an amazing show,” but she is astounded by the intense devotion it engenders from fans.

“I’m definitely overwhelmed and excited by how universally well received it is. It doesn’t seem to matter what country it is, people seem to relate to the story. The Philippines, Brazil, Australia, Japan, everybody seems to be touched in similar ways, which tells us we know we’re doing something right.”

Even though Cohan was born in New Jersey, she speaks with a posh British accent — the result of moving to England at age 13.

“It was a huge culture shock,” she recalls. “Just wearing school uniforms! But, we moved into a big old house that had been divided and we shared a garden and a pet cemetery. Can you think of anything cooler as a child than moving into an old manor that has a pet cemetery? You’re living in the fantasy world of the books that you read as a kid. It definitely made up for any awkward teenage changes.”

And as for what’s in store for Maggie the zombie slayer? “We definitely see a collision between the government people and us at the prison and that’s going to be really scary for Maggie and Glen,” she previewed.

“I mean I had to cut a baby out of Lori’s stomach and then she died!”

AMC’s The Walking Dead is back.

The most addictive post-apocalyptic zombie show returns with its Season 3 premiere Sunday and fans should be prepared because this season is a no-holds-barred fast paced ride.

“I have to say this whole season kind of hits the ground running and almost never stops. It’s really just a non-stop thrill ride,” executive producer and writer Robert Kirkman told Celebuzz at the show’s premiere in Universal City, Calif.

“After the end of the second season, the last two episodes, we really kind of amped up the adrenaline in the show to the extent that we really didn’t feel like it would be possible to pull back on it, so we very quickly come across the prison in the episode. It’s a pretty high-octane storytelling device that we’re going to be running through this season,” he continued.

We’ve already given you some dish from Andrew Lincoln (Rick) and Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori) on the future of Rick and Lori and the repercussions of Shane’s (Jon Berthnal) death as the third season begins.

But in addition to Kirkman, Lincoln, and Callies, we also spoke with Laurie Holden (Andrea), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Lauren Cohan (Maggie) and IronE Singleton (T-Dog) at the premiere to get more scoop on Sunday’s epic episode, “Seed,” and what’s to come on Season 3.

Read on for five more things you need to know about what’s ahead for our survivors. Note: Mild spoilers.

1. Andrea and Michonne: When we last saw Andrea, she was being saved by a mysterious hooded figure who we now know is Michonne. On the third season, we pick up with Andrea “on death’s doorstep.” Speaking of her relationship with the woman who saved her life, Holden told us that one of the first scenes we see of the pair is “really like a love scene in the sense that she’s willing to die for me and I’m willing to die for her.”

She continued, “She wants to stay with me even if it means that the walkers are probably going to take us out and I get up off my tush even though I really want to just be in the fetal position and die because I know if I don’t my friend’s going down. It’s really about two people who love each other so much, at the end of the world and it couldn’t be worse. Andrea is just dog-tired.”

2. The Governor (David Morrissey): Lucky for fans, Kirkman told us, “The Governor is put on to the table pretty early in the season.” Holden was a bit more specific with her answer as she revealed he’ll be making his first appearance on Episode 3. As one of the most fan-loved villains in the comic books, we know that the Governor is not who he seems to be and Michonne is definitely on to him.

Gurira talked to us about her skepticism revolving around the man who seems to good to be true. “She’s very specific about who she lets into her space. She’s very specific about who she trusts,” said the actress of her character. “When she’s jarred in her instincts she does not doubt that she’s right about what’s going on. So that happens in a lot of instances in the community of Woodbury.”

3. The show vs. the comic books: “Much like every season, there’s definitely going to be some really big key moments from The Walking Dead comic book series that will be adapted into this show,” explained Kirkman. “There’s definitely a lot of the Woodbury story and a lot of the prison story that fans are going to be looking forward to this season. They’re going to get a lot of stuff. There’s a lot of fan bait I like to say in this season so I think people will be really happy when it’s all done.”

4. T-Dog’s Role: Singleton told us, “T-Dog is going to step it up a little bit” on Season 3 and “throw a little muscle around in everything that he does.” Admitting he was being vague, he added a little more ambiguity to his answer and said, “Whatever needs to be done to help the situation, T-Dog is doing it.”

5. Maggie: Cohan’s character will go through a lot in the first two episodes of Season 3, but what’s her mindset as the group leaves the farm? “When the season picks up she’s a prepared warrior, so to speak, but she’s still the same girl that we saw in Season 2,” says the actress. “She’s just risen to the challenge required of her.” In the episodes we’ve seen, you’ll not only see Maggie as a bad ass but also at her most vulnerable. As for Glenn (Stephen Yeun) and Maggie, she added, that they are going to be very strong together this season.

Season 3 of The Walking Dead premieres Sunday at 9 PM on AMC.
