All hail the king — King LeBron James, that is.

The basketball superstar turns 28 on Sunday, and with an incredibly successful year, he’s sure to be celebrating big time.

After a humbling loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 NBA Finals, James and the Miami Heat came back hungry for a championship title — and that’s exactly what they got.  But not only can James flaunt his new ring after defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder, he also can brag about being named league MVP — for the third time — and NBA Finals MVP.

Talk about a triple threat.

From there, it was off to the London Olympics to compete on the international stage.  Helping the United States win its second straight gold medal, James became the second player ever to win an NBA championship, MVP award, and Olympic gold medal in the same year — no big deal (Michael Jordan also achieved the feat).

The cherry on top of it all? The eight-time NBA All-Star was named Sports Illustrated’s 2012 Sportsman of the Year, of course.

A team of Hollywood’s sexiest leading ladies, including Jessica Biel and Olivia Munn, came out to see LeBron James net top honors at last night’s ESPY awards.

The Miami Heat forward took home three top awards: Best Male Athlete, Best Championship Performance and Best NBA  Player.  He also shared in the honors when the Miami Heat was named Best Team.

Meanwhile, the man who caused Linsanity this year also took home a top award.

New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin won the prize for Breakthrough Athlete of the Year.

The 23-year-old was on hand to accept his award, but James was not: the star is currently in Las Vegas with the rest of the U.S. national team preparing for the London Olympics.

Backstage, Miami Heat player Mike Miller gave 27-year-old James some props, telling reporters: “He’s had a magnifying glass on him since he was 17 years old and I think he’s handled himself really, really well. Unbelievable teammate, unbelievable father, so those are the most important things. He’s just a likeable guy. He’s a great basketball player to boot.”

Adding to the evening’s excitement:  the sexy sirens from Tinseltown who dressed in their finest fashions. Biel wore a sleeveless white dress; Hayden Panetteire donned a strapless baby-blue ensemble; Munn sported a gray sleeveless gown with a  scoop neck; and Dancing with the Stars pro Karina Smirnoff tried on a slinky yellow number.

Also on hand: New York Jets sensation Tim Tebow, Ted star Joel McHale, New Girl Zooey Deschanel, Connie Britton of Friday Night Lights fame, NASCAR champ/model Danica Patrick and Dancing with the Stars‘ Cheryl Burke.

They watched another athlete win big last night: Baylor University basketball star Brittney Griner was christened Female Athlete of the Year (she beat out French Open champion Maria Sharapova, skier Lindsay Vonn and soccer player Abby Wambach) and Best Female College Athlete.

Fan favorite Shaun White, the famous skateboarder and snowboarder, won his fifth consecutive ESPY for Male Action Sports Athlete.

The 2012 ESPY Awards invade Hollywood on Wednesday night as stars of the sports world descend upon the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Celebuzz is hitting up the red carpet to ask the night’s sexiest (and sportiest) attendees all the burning questions at the top of fans’ minds. Here’s a quick preview of some ESPY Awards highlights.

Will the LeBron reign supreme?

LeBron James and the Miami Heat were nearly unstoppable in this year’s NBA finals. Hot off a series MPV win, James, 27, is nominated for Best Male Athlete. He and the team received nods in four other categories, including Best Team, Best Championship Performance (James), Best Coach/Manager (Erik Spoelstra), and Best NBA player (James).

James faces stiff competition in the Best Male Athlete category from Serbian tennis phenom Novak Djokovic, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and Detroit Tigers’ pitcher Justin Verlander. Sports observers will be watching this category closely to see if James’ strong post-season performance can outshine his public image issues. (He was mercilessly mocked at previous ESPYS by host Seth Meyers).

WILL TEBOW GET BEST MOMENT?

Tim Tebow prepared for the ESPYS by getting a haircut in Beverly Hills last week (no swearing allowed), and must be hoping his 80-yard TD pass to Demaryius Thomas will earn him the Best Moment ESPY. The pass gave Tebow’s Denver Broncos a sudden death playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. But Tebo, 24, will have to contend with New York Yankees’ Derek Jeter snagging his 3,000th hit to get the win.

THE GUEST LIST

Veteran ESPY hosts Samuel L. Jackson and Meyers are expected to make appearances, as well as Lance Armstrong, who is currently facing new allegations of doping. NAS will be performing, and Jessica Biel, Kenny Chesney, and NASCAR’s Danica Patrick are slated to present.

Comedian Rob Riggle is taking over hosting duties, and we expect him to tackle the scandals and fads that swept the sports world over the past year, including the Linsanity surrounding New York Nick Jeremy Lin and the NFL’s Bountygate fiasco.

BATTLE OVER THE BREAKOUT ATHLETE

Everyone loves a champ coming out of nowhere, and that’s what this category is all about. The nominees include University of Kentucky basketball star Anthony Davis, Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III, Lin, and USA women’s soccer player Alex Morgan.

This one will test the powers of Linsanity and the unibrow. Lin’s popularity swept basketball fans at home and in his ancestral Taiwan, while Davis’ phenomenal performance led his team to an NCAA championship. Davis recently applied to trademark phrases about his unibrow, which has been talked about nearly as much as his game.

SURPRISES IN STORE

Some of the best ESPY moments have nothing to do with the awards themselves. Will Ferrell was hilarious in 2010 as Jeff Vuvuzela, the fictional inventor of the Vuvuzela. San Francisco Giants pitcher Brian Wilson showed up to the event last year wearing a spandex tuxedo. We’re sure there is more hilarity to come.

The ESPYs will air live on Tuesday at 9pm EST on ESPN/ESPN HD.

The fatal shooting of an unarmed Florida teen has seemingly outraged the nation – and joining the chorus of condemnation are stars such as Jamie Foxx, rocker Joel Madden and NBA superstar Lebron James.

Trayvon Martin, 17, was shot Feb. 26 as he was returning to a gated community after buying candy at a convenience store.

The gunman, Neighborhood Watch captain George Zimmerman, has not been charged. He said he shot the unarmed youth, who is black, in self-defense.

Demanding justice in the case, James, along with his teammates, stood in solidarity in a photo that he posted on Twitter Friday. The Heat players were all wearing a hoodie, which Martin was wearing at the time he was slain.

Zac Efron‘s appearance on an episode of Entourage has been confirmed exclusively to E! News by HBO. 

The High School Musical heartthrob was spotted looking delicious while “filming a scene and talking on his cell phone,” at Niketown in Beverly Hills on Tuesday morning, says a Niketown employee. 

Zac Efron tried to keep a low profile on the shoot. ”He was wearing sunglasses, and he left in a limo with another guy,” says an eyewitness.

Even though he isn’t sporting a big entourage himself yet, Zac Efron is still definitely making an impression!

Efron and other celebrity guests like Lil Wayne, Tom Brady, LeBron James and Aaron Sorkin, are all set to appear in season six of Entourage, premiering on HBO July 12, at 10:30 p.m.

Marriage is always a compromise, even for fashionistas like Beyonce Knowles and Eva Longoria Parker.

Both followed their husbands to Phoenix, AZ, for the 58th Annual NBA All-Star Weekend. Longoria was a dutiful working wife, as her groom Tony Parker played on loan from his San Antonio Spurs.

Beyonce’s hubby Jay-Z took a no-doubt male preferred alternative to the tents of Bryant Park, sitting courtside for the game beside Rev. Jesse Jackson and boxing legend Muhamad Ali.

And while Beyonce and Eva made quite the cute posing pair, Eva got herself into quite a different housewife situation. Parker was seated next to former Presidential Candidate John McCain and wife Cindy.

The Friday prior to the big game, Parker and Tony headed to VitaminWater’s bash for the legendary Steve Nash at Scottsdale, AZ’s Mondrian Hotel.

Elsewhere, the Dallas Cowboys’ Terrell Owens sipped Grey Goose La Poire at the Player’s Association Gala back in Phoenix.
