Within a span of six months, Rosario Dawson and Leona Lewis were spotted sporting the same draped sequin wrap gown in blue created by the fashion designer. Rosario was the first to debut the formal sparkly getup at this year’s Vanity Fair post-Oscar party in February. More recently, Leona rocked the blue gown at Tony Bennett‘s birthday party on Monday.

Leona, 26, was spotted out in London’s Leicester Square looking saucy in red, from her lipstick to her coat and heels. Just as eye-grabbing was the debut of her new dramatically darkened hair.

The “Bleeding Love” singer may be showing off her sassy side to fight back the controversy surrounding her latest hit “Collide.”

Leona’s record label Syco was accused of plagiarism by Swedish musician DJ Avicci, and upon threatening to take his case to the High Court, Leona agreed to collaborate with Avicii on the song.

The single will be released on September 4, and fans can already check out the music video!

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint all beat out fellow Brit Robert Pattinson as the richest young celebs in England — DRad took the top spot. Meanwhile, young female celebrities made up an overwhelming majority of the rich list’s remaining top ten with stars like Keira Knightley and Leona Lewis giving their male counterparts a run for their money.

Luckily, the “Bleeding Love” songstress escaped unscathed, if not unshaken, by the experience:

“We have been having problems with the lift. It had been going fine in rehearsals and then I had a bit of an accident and fell down the lift shaft. It was quite scary…I was lucky not to get injured. Fortunately it happened during a blackout on set and didn’t affect the show and none of the audience saw anything. I got a shock and had to be rescued.”

Wow; she falls down an elevator shaft, and worries how it will affect the audience’s concert experience. That, ladies and gentlemen, is consummate professionalism.

Leona should count herself lucky: At least she’s not constantly being attacked by doors, unlike some other musicians we know.

Completely distinct from die-hard fans, the celebrity stalker is typically a mentally-disturbed individual who becomes attached to a public figure for inexplicable and unpredictable reasons, often believing in their own mind that they have a secret relationship with the the target of their “affection”.  The threats from these unbalanced individuals can range from the somewhat wacky, such as the disturbed woman who moved herself into David Letterman’s Connecticut home, to the murderous, as in the 1989 case of Robert John Bardo, the stalker and killer of Rebecca Shaeffer, the 21-year-old co-star of the TV show, My Sister, Sam.

(Often regarded as the most famous stalker killing, Mark David Chapman tracked John Lennon for two months before shooting and killing the former Beatle outside of his apartment building on the night of December 8, 1980.)

Stories of celebrities dealing with their stalkers are a constant source of entertainment news. Four recent celebrity cases bring to light an often underrepported, but constant, problem in the lives of most prominent celebrities:

Leona Lewis

Leona Lewis, a former waitress at Pizza Hut, became a music world sensation after winning the Simon Cowell produced British talent show, X-Factor in 2006.  

Since that time, the sultry pop star has seen her career shoot to the top, along with record sales, hit music videos, and an autobiography, Dreams, the very book she was signing on October 12, 2009, when a deranged man at a London-area bookstore walked to the front of the autograph line and suddenly swung his fist and punched Leona in the face.

There was very little that could be done to prevent the attack, completely unexpected at a book signing event.  The incident reveals the omnipresent danger felt by many celebrities, and, often, the related sense of fear and insecurity they feel on a personal, physical level.  As a result of this attack, and other related public incidents, Leona Lewis’ continues to experience anxiety and shields herself from the world behind a large bodyguard.

Kim Kardashian

Reality star, Kim Kardashian has been dealing with a frightening individual for the past six months.  Dennis Shaun Bowman, a 25-year old man from Georgia, began contacting Kardashian via Twitter about six months ago, with indications that he believed the two were involved in a romantic relationship.  At the same time, Bowman began sending threatening messages to long time Kardashian boyfriend, Reggie Bush, of the New Orleans Saints.

What began as an on-line stalking quickly turned more serious as Bowman moved from Georgia to Los Angeles to be in proximity of Kardashian.  Immediately thereafter, he began showing up to her public events, dressed in the guise of the Heath Ledger’s “Joker” character from the latest Batman film, demanding to see Kardashian.

Imagine the creep out factor on that image.

Kardashian has since successfully filed restraining orders against Bowman, all that really can be done in these situations, prior to any physical attack, that requires Bowman to keep a certain distance from Kardashian and to not contact her via the Internet.

“Kimberly Kardashian does not know Mr Bowman. Mr Bowman is a delusional fan who has been stalking and harassing Ms Kardashian since at least October 2009.  He has refused to cease contacting her despite demands from the LAPD and Ms Kardashian’s attorneys.(…)  Ms. Kardashian is extremely frightened by Bowman because he is obsessed with her and is extremely delusional.”

Still, this does little to reduce the fear knowing that such a man is loose on the streets.  As a result, during Kardashian’s recent visit to Miami for the Super Bowl, she traveled with a team of security guards and reports are that she also retained an armored limousine for personal protection.

Ryan Seacrest

Unlike non-celebrity stalkers, those obsessed with the high profile individuals seem to be evenly split between men and women as their targets.  Case in point, Ryan Seacrest. 

“His aggressive and violent efforts to come into physical contact with me are extremely frightening to me,” Seacrest wrote in a declaration for the restraining order Friday. “They have jeopardized not only my personal safety, but also the safety and well-being of those around me.”

In September of 2009, Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr., a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve, attacked one of Ryan Seacrest’s bodyguards while attempting to personally meet Seacrest after a public appearance in Orange County, California. 

Shortly after serving 15 days in jail for the altercation, Uzomah visited the E! Television Studios, carrying a knife, attempting to see Seacrest again, this time at his offices on the television lot.  Uzomah was recognized by security guards and immediately subdued and held for police.  Uzomah has plead not guilty to the charges stemming from this second aborted attack, facing four years in prison if convicted on all counts.

Keira Knightley

After sending the British actress numerous gifts and letters, Mariek Daniluk, an immense-sized  Polish immigrant living in London, decided to take matters one step further.

Daniluk waited outside the theater where Knightley was performing in the stage play, “Misanthrope” and grabbed her arm forcefully as she passed by upon her exit.  He was immediately arrested by police who had been alerted to Daniluk’s suspicious behavior by fans in the crowd.

As reported by Celebuzz earlier this week, Daniluk is merely the latest in a long line of stalkers that has plagued the actress-star of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie trilogy.  Though often performing in the U.K., the actress has previously relocated her permanent residence to the United States, citing concern for her public safety in her home country.

These four recent stories represent but a sampling of the onslaught of written, verbal, and even physical attacks by mentally-disturbed individuals upon celebrities and famous public figures.  For the celebrity, it’s a near certain, and near constant, part of the routine of life.  Short of changing careers and withdrawing completely from public life, there’s no way to prevent it.

It’s the price of fame.

The Sun reports that the alleged assailant, Peter Kowalczyk, was a failed aspirant on the British talent show X Factor, which Lewis had previously won.

According to Kowalczyk’s father, Tomasz,

“He wants to be a singer. He went along and queued at X Factor. How far he got with it? Nowhere.”

Compounding matters is the fact that Kowalczyk—who was sectioned in the hospital under the Mental Health Act after the incident—apparently had a history of mental illness beforehand.  The alleged assailant apparently suffers from anaemia, which his parents say can affect his mental state, andwas being treated by England’s National Health Service with weekly music therapy.

Lewis, meanwhile, is still shaken up by the experience, and according to a family friend is planning to beef up her security detail:

“Now she wants a 24-hour security team with plain-clothed guards hidden in the crowd when she goes shopping or out with friends.”

Leona Lewis was punched in the head by a disgruntled male fan on Wednesday while signing copies of her new autobiography Dreams at Waterstone’s Piccadilly bookstore in London, according to reports.

Lewis had been signing books for approximately 90 minutes for fans—some of whom had been waiting since the previous evening—when a man emerged form the line and struck Lewis, leaving her bruised and shaken.

It’s not known why the man lashed out at the singer, who was checked over by a doctor following the attack. Security swarmed during the assault, and an arrest was made.

Lewis’ spokesperson, who was present during the incident, condemned the attack as “beyond cowardly,” adding that Lewis “is absolutely gutted she did not get the signings finished.”

Punched in the head and gutted? She really didn’t have a good day…

Accompanied by an unidentified female companion (and, presumably, several drinks), the snarky creator/producer, 49, was obviously able to let his hair down. Come to think of it, he kinda looks like fellow Idol judge Paula Abdul does on a daily basis.

But hey, the guy deserves it; Cowell’s one of the hardest working men in the biz. He produces three shows—American Idol, Idol’s British cousin The X-Factor (which gave us Grammy-winning singer Leona Lewis), and America’s Got Talent. The dude’s busy. (But obviously not too busy for the occasional good time.)

Plus, he recently split from longtime girlfriend Terri Seymour, so the icy British guy needs some time to defrost and meet some available ladies.

Just be sure to take some Advil and a big glass of water before hitting the sack, Simon.

The X Factor winner (that’s like American Idol, but everybody talks with Simon Cowell‘s accent) will team with German brand developers LR, according to the Sun, to create a signature fragrance that will be aimed at international markets.

Only a year ago, Leona had dismissed the idea of promoting a scent.  “I’m totally focused on my music for now. My clothing line won’t be coming out just yet—or any perfume line.”

In the meantime, Lewis, an outspoken anti-fur advocate, has been reportedly partnering with a London High Street chain to develop a line of “vegan” fashions.

In 2004, Leona was both the first female and the first mixed-race winner of X Factor.  She approaches business with the same true-to-self vision that guided her to her Factor win.

As a strict vegetarian, Lewis insists the fragrance will not be tested on animals and will likely target an organic audience.

Aside from her fashion forays (and promoting her debut album Spirit with a certain Gossip guy), the singer also intends to release an autobiography in 2009.

These adventures in collateral merchandising are all well and great, provided they don’t delay the followup to Leona’s masterful debut.  Spirit came out in 2007, mind you.  The world needs another hit of “Bleeding Love” just as much as it does a sniff of scent.

Naw; the “Bleeding Love” singer and animal-rights activist was merely filming the video for her next single “I Will Be”—which was penned by Canadian pop-punker Avril Lavigne and songwriting partner Max Martin—in Brooklyn on Friday when she was pretend-busted by a fake cop.

Also on hand for the faux arrest: Gossip Girl heartthrob Chace Crawford, who plays a significant role in the video.

“He has speaking lines in the video as well as just appearing in it,” a source close to Lewis reveals to People. “It will be the most anticipated video in January.”

The pair—both 23—met at a party a couple of months ago, when Crawford was in London promoting GG. The actor and singer “hit it off and talk every once in a while and have become fast friends,” the source says.

Lewis phoned her new buddy a couple of weeks ago to ask if he’d make a cameo in the vid. Clearly, he was enthusiastic about the idea. 

No word on whether he was carrying a pocket full of Monopoly money to cover Lewis’ fake bail.

For a former WWE fighter, Stacy Kiebler, 29, sure knows how to dress for success. The striking blonde wore a silver-sequined mini skirt and matching top that wasn’t over-the-top. She paired the two pieces with a modest blazer.

Speaking of over-the-top, Lily Allen, 23, was snapped shopping in London’s famous Bond Street in sunglasses (it’s winter) and a furry hat that looks like a baby polar bear squatting above her face. Is Lily so desperate to get noticed that she resorts to wearing a plushie on her head?

The Sun reports that Lewis, 23, is in talks to perform at Obama’s January 20 inaugural bash in Washington, D.C., possibly joining Beyonce and Jay-Z for a celebration concert.

British-born, sexy vegetarian Lewis, whose single “Bleeding Love” hit #1 on American charts, has been vocal in her support for Obama. She opined that Obama’s election “could inspire young ethnic minorities in the UK to do something productive and show it’s not cool to do nothing with your life.”

A source tells the paper that “Various inquiries have been made to Leona’s people about her availability on January 20″ and that “her team are going through her diary at the moment.”

This would be the latest in a string of super-high-profile gigs for Lewis. She performed with former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and was also on hand for Nelson Mandela‘s 90th birthday party earlier this year.

Obama’s inaugural celebration is expected to draw in excess of 1 million people to Washington.

The fur-shunning singing sensation was recently bleeding love for Obama all over the pages of the Sun, telling the paper that the American politician has the cure for what ails England.

Huh?

Let Lewis explain:

“I just don’t know what’s going on with the young kids in London now,” Lewis exclaims, referring to increasing youth violence in the city.  “I think Barack Obama could inspire young ethnic minorities in the UK to do something productive and show it’s not cool to do nothing with your life.”

The singer continues, “Who gets elected president of America is important for everyone in the world, because they end up running our country too.”

While British Prime Minister Gordon Brown might take issue with Lewis’ assessment, Leona’s Barack love seems unquenchable. “I think Obama is amazing,” she notes. “He’s just so cool and articulate. Nothing fazes him. I think it would be a huge step forward for America and the world.”

One thing’s for sure; if an Obama victory tomorrow gives this chick one less thing to shoot her mouth off about, the world really will be better off.

The “Bleeding Love” singer and PETA’s World’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity has brushed off a £1million offer to open department store Harrods summer sale, due to the fact that the emporium carries fur items.

The Daily Mail reports that Lewis, who has been a vegetarian since she was 12, said, “I’m totally against animal cruelty. I don’t have clothes, shoes or bags made from any animal products.”

Harrods is the only department store in the United Kingdom that continues to sell fur.

In lieu of Lewis’ refusal, Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall will take the gig.

Careful, Kim; those PETA folks can get pretty ruthless when celebrities don’t see things their way. They might even resort to calling you mean names.

Considerably fewer have heard the original version by the song’s co-author, Jesse McCartney, who penned the tune with OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder (who, in turn, produced Lewis’ version of the song).

While former Dream Street crooner McCartney’s take on the song lacks the pop sheen of Leona’s rendition, it bears a certain stripped-down charm.
