Leonardo DiCaprio and his real-life buddy Tobey Maguire get all tuxed up for their roles in The Great Gatsby as they both vie for the affections of Carey Mulligan‘s infamous literary character Daisy Buchanan.

Set to be released this Christmas, the movie (headed up by Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann) features gorgeous costumes and lots of glitz. Oh, and a steamy sex scene between Leo and Carey.

If you’re unfamiliar with the F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby is about:

Midwesterner Nick Carraway (Tobey) is lured into the lavish world of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby (Leo). A love triangle then arises between Nick, Jay and Daisy (Carey). Soon enough, however, Carraway will see through the cracks of Gatsby’s nouveau riche existence, where obsession, madness, and tragedy await.

Acquired by the Titanic actor, 37, in Oct. 2002 for an easy $6 milllion, the 17,679-square-foot home is being rented out for (gasp!) $75,000 a month (via E! News)!

So, what does that price tag get you?

The beachfront house (built in 1927) sits on nearly half an acre and includes seven bedrooms and six restrooms.

Twenty-two people who sued to recoup poker winnings from a crooked hedge fund manager have all settled their cases for a total of more than $1.75 million, Celebuzz has exclusively learned.

“All of the poker defendant cases are settled,” confirmed Howard Ehrenberg, the bankruptcy trustee who sued Maguire and others in a bid to claw back as much as $5.2 million they won from Ponzi schemer Bradley Ruderman, at underground poker games.

“The settlement of every poker related case without having had to incur the cost of taking any of them to trial means that the fund available for the victims has been maximized.”

Ruderman bilked investors out of $44 million in a wire fraud scheme before he was caught, in 2009.

The con man, who was sentenced to 10 years in jail, in 2010, spent at least $8.7 million of investor money on personal expenses, including a summer rental in Malibu and two Porsches. He lost $5.2 of the fund in Texas Hold ‘Em games played on a regular basis at the homes of the Tinsel town card sharks, including Maguire’s, or in five-star hotels in Beverly Hills, such as The Four Seasons, between 2006 and 2009.

Ruderman wrote checks and wire transfers to Spiderman star Maguire, totaling $311,200 to cover poker losses, according to one of the lawsuits filed and later settled. Maguire, 36, was one of the first to settle, agreeing to fork over $80,000 to be dropped from the litigation.

In total, Ehrenberg was able to settle the cases for roughly 30 cents on the dollar. The money will be used to repay victims of the scheme, which Maguire and other players were unaware of.

“To be completely clear: Three of the cases were resolved by default or bankruptcy, so the funds recovered are from 19 cases,” said Ehrenberg.

Other celebrities targeted in a lawsuit launched last June were The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes, Welcome Back, Kotter star Gabe Kaplan, Paris Hilton‘s ex-boyfriend and sex tape partner, Rick Salomon, and record label owner Cody Leibel.

Other A-list stars, including New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, were tied to the poker games, with had a $50,000 buy-in — but like DicCaprio, Affleck and Damon, he was not sued.

Whilst details of the ring’s inner workings won’t get a public airing, Celebuzz has viewed the FBI’s nearly 1,000-page dossier on the case which identified Maguire as the shadowy club’s “best player.”

The sensational files on the sophisticated and organized illegal poker group were created when Los Angeles-based agents spoke to Ruderman, who became their ultimate snitch.

As part of his confession to the Ponzi scheme, Ruderman ratted out Maguire, declaring: “Tobey Maguire is the best player and a winner.”

Ruderman also turned over to the Feds a trove of evidence, including eight boxes of documents and computer drives, which revealed how he wrote seven checks in total to Maguire during a period of just 10 months, from July, 2007, to May, 2008.

Ruderman also sang like a bird to FBI agents Jeremy Tarwater and Steve Goldman about the poker group’s ringleader, Molly Bloom, in the hope that turning informant would deliver him a more lenient sentence for his white-collar crimes.

He said Bloom, the 33-year-old brunette dubbed the ‘Princess of Poker’, preyed on him because he was ”not a good gambler.”

Bloom “was very aggressive to get me to keep playing,” Ruderman said in the interview with the Feds, on April 30, 2009.

The re-release of one of Hollywood’s most epic and romantic films of all time Titanic premiered in it’s 3D edition in London on March 27. However, one very important character was absent from the red carpet!

Kate Winslet attended the premiere in a custom made black Jenny Packham gown with Swarovski crystal detailing, and posed on the red carpet with the historic director behind the movie, James Cameron. We also spotted Billy Zane who played Rose’s fiance Cal in the blockbuster hit, but the million dollar question of the night was: Where is Leonardo DiCaprio?

“Leo is in Louisiana shooting Django Unchained, that’s why he missed the Titanic premiere tonight,” a rep for DiCaprio told Celebuzz in a statement. “He will be down there shooting past the promotion dates [of the film].” Looks like a Jack and Rose reunion won’t be happening in 2012, except on the big screen!

Titanic 3D hits theaters worldwide on April 4, 100 years after the RMS Titanic historically sank, and 15 years following the film’s first release.

“Yesterday when I first got back, I went with my dog and my brother and took a really long walk, and I have to get a bike,” Erin shared.  “I have to go biking here because it’s so beautiful. I have to take advantage of the spring weather.”

“I love to go to Central Park. I have a little dog, so she’s like my child,” said Candice. “I have to keep her active. I ride my bike around East Village and take her to Central Park.”

Stars like Leonardo DiCaprio with girlfriend Erin Heatherton, Laura Prepon, David Spade and Gerber’s wife Cindy Crawford were all in attendance for the exclusive rum-tasting preview. They were able to grab a few drinks, enjoy the music, and catch up with friends. 

Irish actor Gerard Butler joined the festivities around midnight. When asked if he would be trying the exciting, new drink Butler said:

“No no, I’m not drinking, I’m just here to support my friend Rande.”

The J. Edgar star has teamed up with La Colombe coffee Torrefaction to create a high-end coffee blend whose profits will all go towards environmental causes championed by DiCaprio. In a statement about the news, DiCaprio said:

“Raising awareness on the most pressing environmental issues of our time is more important than ever. I am thrilled to be a part of this new project with La Colombe that will help aid the shift to a truly sustainable future for the planet and its inhabitants.”

The luxury coffee line named LYON will be sold online and at Williams Sonoma, Whole Foods and online at LaColombe. 

From the looks of it, the new rumored couple could be there for a while given the amount of luggage, but they seemed very relaxed as they received some assistance with unloading tons of designer suitcases.

Given all those bags, they could be sunning themselves all the way until Oscar time! Leo and Erin were thought to have started dating shortly after the Great Gatsby star’s split from Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively, who, as we all know, has happily moved on from him with actor Ryan Reynolds.

]]> It’s been 16 years since Baz Luhrmann‘s visionary adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet hit the big screen, but the film’s main stars were recently seen having a bit of a reunion!

While attending the AFI Awards at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on Friday, Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes were seen chatting, and a photog caught the sweet moment on camera.

Hard to believe it’s been so long since the film that helped launched these two into super stardom was released!

The Inception actor has dated his fair share of beauties over the years (such as Gisele Bundchen and Bar Refaeli), and was recently seen with yet another Victoria’s Secret model — Erin Heatherton. On Thursday, December 22, the two were seen taking a stroll around LA, where they arrived at their location separately, and left separately as well. The two looked casual and were all smiles, as Leo wore his signature cap, and Erin was sporting a leather jacket.

While it’s still unknown if these two are an item (Leo most recently split from Blake Lively) we thought it would be fun to do a retrospective of Leo’s many real (and rumored) romances over the years!
