On the even of fashion’s biggest night, Carey Mulligan attended a pre-Met Ball screening of her newest movie, The Great Gatsby.

Joining Mulligan at the MOMA in New York City were Emma Roberts, Mark Sanchez and former Downton Abbey star, Dan Stevens.

Mulligan told the latest issue of Flaunt magazine that she was scared out of her knickers to take on the iconic role of Daisy Buchanan.

“This ‘Gatsby’ project inspires so much anger or passion from people,” the Oscar nominee said.  ”Even British people don’t get upset if you mess up an Austen adaptation, ‘Oh that’s fine, we’ve all done it.’ But in America it’s like, ‘Don’t f–k with Fitzgerald.’”

Baz Luhrmann‘s adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel opens this Friday.

It’s splitsville for Eva Longoria and New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. The two had only been dating since September and were spotted together frequently over the summer.

“Mark adores and respects Eva,” Sanchez’s rep told Us Magazine. “It really was about scheduling more than anything else. They will remain close friends.”

Longoria confirmed that the two were an item to Extra on Sept. 13 saying, “Mark and I are, you know, fine. We’re happy just dating.”

Sanchez has been mum on his relationship status thus far but one thing is for certain, he is a total mama’s boy.

“Family is big. My mom has to love her. I mean, love her. Somebody who can handle all this. . . because I’m still learning,” he told GQ in September 2011.

Both have been linked to famous faces earlier this year: Longoria with Eduardo Cruz and Sanchez with Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton.

Just after a week after Eva Longoria confirmed her relationship with New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, the former Desperate Housewives actress is seen apartment hunting with her new boyfriend.

Longoria, 37, and Sanchez, 25, were spotted shopping for a new love nest on Park Avenue in New York City Friday. Sporting casual long-sleeved tops and sandals, the pair were inseparable as they walked hand in hand around the posh neighborhood.

Just how serious is this new couple?

“Mark and I are, you know, fine,” Longoria told close friend Mario Lopez during an Extra interview. “We’re happy just dating.”

Celebuzz also caught up with the actress at the Latin Awards on Sept. 16 to chat about her new relationship.

The actress – who’s been heavily involved in politics since co-chairing President Barack Obama‘s re-election campaign – told us that she tries to keep her political side separate from her love life.

When asked if her man has to vote the same way she does, she said, “What, politically? No, not necessarily.”

Eva Longoria has found love on the football field.

The former Desperate Housewives star confirmed to Extra last week that she is currently dating New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

“Mark and I are, you know, fine,” she said, when probed by host and close friend Mario Lopez. “We’re happy just dating.”

However, the 37-year-old isn’t the first leading lady to land herself a footballer.

From Jessica Simpson to new mom Kristin Cavallari, many of Hollywood’s hottest starlets caught the love bug during an NFL Game.

Simpson famously found love with Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Romo in 2007 before getting engaged to baby daddy and current free agent Eric Johnson.

Meanwhile, Cavallari is currently linked to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who recently welcomed his first child with the former Hills star in August. The couple is currently in the stages of planning their dream wedding, though the new baby proves to be slowing down the process.

“I mean we’re talking about it a little bit, but for the most part it’s still put on hold,” Cavallari told Celebuzz in April. ”[I'm] still not feeling rushed.”

Eva Longoria has found herself a brand-new athlete.

The 37-year-old former star of Desperate Housewives confirmed to Extra this week that she is indeed dating New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, 25.

“Mark and I are, you know, fine,” she said, when probed by Extra host and close friend Mario Lopez.

“We’re happy just dating.”

Longoria was previously in an on-again, off-again relationship with Eduardo Cruz, the brother of Oscar-winning actress Penelope Cruz. They split in June.

She’s been married twice, to Tyler Christopher, of General Hospital fame, and basketball star Tony Parker.

Of course, actresses dating athletes dates back to the good ol’ days of Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio and beyond.

Looks like Eva Longoria will be spending a lot of time watching football this season.

On Friday, the 37-year-old actress was spotted having a “relaxed summer supper” with Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

The New York Post reports that the pair, who dined with friends at Sanchez’s swanky New Jersey digs, shared bites from each other’s plates. Sanchez, 25, lives in a cottage at Donald Trump’s National Golf Club.

It’s not the first time the new couple have been spotted together this summer.

Sources revealed to the Post that Longoria and Sanchez have been doing normal couple things, including trips to the grocery store and having date night at a Manhattan restaurant. The Desperate Housewives actress reportedly wore a blonde wig to the restaurant to avoid being seen.

Earlier this summer, the rumored new couple jetted off to the Caribbean for some R&R, according to In Touch.

Longoria’s most recent brush with romance ended in June, when the actress’ rep confirmed her split from Penelope Cruz’s brother, Eduardo. The couple had been dating on and off for over a year.

Sanchez’s rumored ladyloves of recent have included actress Hayden Panetierre and Sports Illustrated models Kate Upton and Hilary Rhoda.

In Defense of Tim Tebow

It’s easy to see why the Jets snagged Tebow as soon as they could — he is the most talked about QB in the game today! Not only is he talented at the sport, but he has managed to stay humble and true to himself among the instant fame that came his way. Despite rumors of him heading to reality TV or romancing Katy Perry or Taylor Swift, Tebow is an all-around good guy, and you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who could disagree! In Defense of Mark Sanchez

Mark Sanchez isn’t just a pretty face, with incredible talent, who looks great in green and white — he also has a new 3-year deal with the Jets that will pay him $40.5 million. Jamie-Lynn Sigler, you may wanna rekindle that romance! At 6’2″, 225 pounds, this dark haired heartthrob is in a league of his own when it comes to being the most eligible bachelor in the NFL/world. And he’s fun! In HBO’s 2010 Hard Knocks series (which went inside the Jets training camp), we got to see just how funny (and eloquent) this starting QB can be! He’s clearly the hotter choice!

NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez is no stranger to the Hollywood scene. The New York Jets leading man has made headlines ever since he made his debut in 2009. He even dated HBO star Jamie-Lynn Sigler and was rumored to be seeing Hayden Panettiere, but the 6’2″, 24-year-old hunk has his heart set on an actress who’s got a few years on him: 42-year-old Jennifer Aniston!

In GQ Magazine‘s September issue, Sanchez confessed that Aniston’s “experience” is what intrigues him. He might not have a shot with Jen (seeing as she’s seeing Justin Theroux), but something tells us he has no problem scoring with the ladies! If he does, the fact that he’s a Broadway aficionado and a self confessed Gleek will likely score him some points!

He goes into depth with the magazine about what he looks for in his better half:

“I can’t help but want somebody that’s, I don’t know, athletic. Family is big. My mom has to love her. I mean, love her. Somebody who can handle all this . . . because I’m still learning.”

Since he’s only in his 3rd year in the NFL, Mark is still incredibly young and has no plans to settle down anytime soon.

You have to be a 24-year-old bachelor with the means to do anything, just about, but with the wherewithal and understanding and life skills of a 45-year-old Supreme Court judge.

First up, we have Mark Salling. The actor — best known for his role as Noah “Puck” Puckerman on the hit television series Glee – is also a singer-songwriter who released a full-length album entitled Pipe Dreams in late 2010, making him one of only a handful of Glee stars that have released their own music since the start of the show. He has also had his fair share of dating rumors, being tied to Audrina Patridge and co-star Naya Rivera in the past. Who hasn’t yet fallen for the bad-boy attitude?

Salling is not the only Mark with a bad boy persona, though. Mark Wahlberg definitely gives him some competition. The actor and producer (and former rapper) has built of quite the resume with his many starring roles. The ladies definitely go crazy for this talented hottie. 

Who doesn’t love a sexy sports star? New York Giants quarterback Mark Sanchez may be famous for his game on the field, but the ladies love the football player off the field too. When you stand seven feet tall, it’s hard to go anywhere unnoticed.  NBA star Shaquille O’Neal was spotted all over Vegas celebrating his official retirement party.

Shaq and friends started out the evening by having dinner at Nove Italiano inside the Palms Casino Resort on Saturday night. Chef Geno treated their group like royalty, preparing a great family style menu for them consisting of Nana’s meatballs, Shrimp Franchise, Federal Hill Calamari, Spaghetti Bolognese and Chicken Parmesan. And the dinner didn’t stop there!

 Like any pro athlete, there is always room for more.  To top off the meal, Chef Geno brought out Nove’s dessert platter. They loved everything, but the favorite of the group was the Mascarpone Cheesecake – sounds delicious to us!

The group was all smiles and seemed to enjoy their time at Nove as they headed over to Moon Nightclub also inside the Palms just in time for Shaq’s retirement party to begin.

Shaquille, along with family and friends, had a VIP table and drank Dom Perignon and Patron.  Shaq was on the mic for about 30 minutes and even had DJ Exodus honor Michael Jackson, where the packed crowd sang along to some of his biggest hits.

There was a tribute reel of Shaq’s career highlights over the years playing on screens throughout the club.  Caked Las Vegas provided the decorative cake for people to enjoy featuring the Superman logo with a basketball and a banner congratulating him on a ‘hall of fame career’.  

The celebration was a big hit.  New York Jets Quarterback Mark Sanchez stopped by to say hello and illusionist Criss Angel even made an appearance.  DJ Pauly D was there to entertain the crowd, as he launched his DJ residency at Moon Nightclub as well.
