Mark came right out of the gate with a flawless physique that in flaunted in the early ’90s under the alter ego of Marky Mark. He then transformed his image into a more serious actor, but still showed off his abs in such movies as Boogie Nights and Fear.

 Now at age 40, The Fighter star has been spotted shirtless on the set of his new film Pain and Gain looking as buff as he did when he first came on the scene.

After seeing some photos of 40-year-old Mark on set of his new movie in a pair of sexy undies on Tuesday, it got us thinking about the days when Mark modeled underwear for a little designer named Calvin Klein. Mark’s ads made such a splash that they helped launch him into superstardom with not only a rap career (Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch!), but gave his big screen career a huge jump start. The 40-year-old action star is currently in town filming Michael Bay‘s new flick Pain & Gain. As the movie centers around a pair of bodybuilders, you can bet that Mark has been flaunting hard-earned muscles on set all week!

Such was the case on Wednesday, when cameras caught a buffer-than-ever Mark Wahlberg on the set of his new movie, Pain and Gain.

The Oscar-nominated actor was seen wearing workout gear – though, really, all we could focus on were his gigantic biceps, which seem to have gotten even bigger since the last time we reported on his body. (Remember: This guy is 40!)

In the film, from esteemed director Michael Bay, Mark plays a bodybuilder who gets caught up in a kidnapping plot gone terribly wrong. Whether the movie will be any good remains to be seen. For now, Mark looks more than fit for the part — quite literally, if you ask us.

The Fighter star was spotted shirtless on his Miami, FL hotel balcony on Sunday waving to fans. We’re happy to report that the muscles made famous from his Marky Mark days are still in tact. The Oscar nominee looks to have buffed up even more than usual, perhaps for his role in the new Michael Bay movie Pain and Gain. 

The film will also star another super muscular (and hot) celebrity. 

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will also be in the movie that is about a pair of bodybuilders in Florida that get caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong.

No word yet as to when this film will be released but Mark is in Florida to start filming. 

“If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.’”

Following the backlash after this interview was published in Men’s February issue, Mark released a statement regarding the remarks that were deemed insensitive. He said in a statement: 

“I would never disrespect the victims of 9/11 or their families.  It was completely misunderstood. My only intention was to explain the fact that I would do anything to protect my family – I would put myself in harms way to protect my family or innocent people.  That was it.”

Mark later clarified on Kidd Kraddick’s morning radio show (via ET Canada), when challenged about his comment by Kidd who asked, “But that does suggest that there were those on the plane that did not do that.”

Mark responded: “First and foremost, I am not an actor.  I am a real guy from the streets and I’ve been in a lot of situations, so I was probably speaking out of line and I wasn’t thinking the real heroes and the guys, women, children, fathers, sons, daughters who were on those flights. … And all of a sudden this thing became this thing I didn’t know where it came from.  I don’t go out doing publicity for movies or a magazine cover talking about what’s important to me.  I want to promote the movie and whatever questions they want to ask me I am more than comfortable talking about.  But it wasn’t a Q&A where it was the exact question and my exact response.  It was somebody’s interpretation of it and you know…  that’s not OK because I don’t want people to be offended.  I would never do that.”

His hit HBO show Entourage just wrapped last September and now people want to know, will there be a movie? Mark sets the rumors straight with GQ magazine.

“Oh, no, that’s definitely something that we’re actively trying to put together. We’re just waiting for [series creator] Doug [Ellin] to write the script.” the man formerly known as Marky Mark confirmed,  also going on to share that the idea had always been a part of the plan. “People were complaining that episodes were too short.”

Mark, 40, is the executive producer of the Emmy nominated series, and it’s always been thought that the show mirrored the actor’s actual life. 

So what would a movie about the life of Vinny Chase (Adrian Grenier) and the crew revolve around? “I think a 90-minute movie of sheer craziness—the guys getting back to just being about the guys, you know? Lose the ladies. Go crazy. Give people what they want.”

In a recent interview with MTV news, Mark revealed this week his real reason behind wanting to give the Biebs a shot at acting.

“Intuition. I’m pretty intuitive,” he said about his faith in the 17-year-old “Baby” singer’s acting ability. “I see the guy and spent time with him, and you see what he does and how he does it, and then you actually have a conversation with him, and it’s there.”

Can Justin rise to the occasion and make it as an actor and a singer? After all, he’s already had a role on CSI.  ”It’s there — and if not, I will extract it,” Mark adds about if Justin can make it on the big screen.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Mark, but we’ll get to see him on the big screen in Ted, later in 2012. According to IMDB, the film (which Family Guy‘s Seth MacFarlane wrote) is about:

“A story centered on a man and his teddy bear, who comes to life as the result of a childhood wish.”

The actor teamed up with The Taco Bell Foundation for Teens, which has been doing their part to keep our teens at their best (and we don’t just mean the food!). Yesterday saw the grand opening of  ”Graduate to Go Studios” at Boys & Girls Club Los Angeles.

 The “Graduate to Go” Studio program is a mentor-based initiative with a year-round agenda of projects in video and music production. Mark Wahlberg advised on the technical aspects of the studio and job shadowing opportunities, and presided over the studio launch at the L.A. Harbor Boys & Girls Club. The club provides behind-the-scenes production experience inspiring teens to graduate from high school.

The launch of the studio at the Boys & Girls Club of L.A. Harbor featured a ribbon cutting ceremony, tour of the new studio and a roundtable conversation on why real-world experiences inspire teens.  Teens also had the opportunity to work directly with Mark Wahlberg and showcase their original recordings.

Who better to inspire teenagers to stay interested in school than The Fighter himself? Sounds like a good role model to us!

Mila and Mark were all smiles in these photos snapped from their wedding day on Thursday, June 30^th,  however, their nuptials are actually a scene from the upcoming romantic comedy Ted in Boston. It’s a shame their walk down the aisle isn’t real though, because the Black Swan star looked breathtaking in a cream lace strapless dress with an elegant fishtail train and sheer beaded veil. Not to be outdone, Mark looked dapper in a refined black tuxedo and bow tie.

Directed by Seth MacFarlane, creator of the popular animated series Family Guy, the comedy has been filming over the last few months on location in Boston, Mark’s hometown. The film, which is MacFarlane’s feature film directorial debut, tells the story of John (Mark), a native Bostonian whose childhood wish comes true when his teddy bear comes to life. Mila plays the part of John’s dream girl, Lori, and from the looks of these photos, it seems like he does a pretty good job of winning her over. This isn’t Mark’s first time tying the knot, he married longtime girlfriend Rhea Durham in 2009, and the couple have three children together.
