In a brand-new interview with ELLE UK, the twins spoke candidly about their many years in the business – specifically Ashley, who revealed what led her to ultimately hang up her acting shoes for good.

“We worked non-stop until we were 18. Then we decided to take a break and go to school — and that was when we decided to question whether we would carry on in entertainment,” she told the magazine (via The Huffington Post).

“It was time to step behind the process. I wanted to work on other things. It doesn’t mean I’m not interested in Hollywood, I like the way it operates and the people who are involved and the sense of possibility. But if I ever do get back in, it’s not going to be as an actress,” she said.

Ashley’s twin sister Mary-Kate also admitted that she no longer has the acting bug, despite a recent string of roles in everything from Weeds to Beastly.

“[It] just felt right to move away [from the spotlight],” she said.

Mary-Kate & Ashley, who are the brains behind the luxury fashion line The Row, rose to fame on the ’80s sitcom Full House, in which they played the youngest member of the Tanner family, Michelle. Their last film together was the 2004 bomb New York Minute.

Their younger sister, Elizabeth, is currently a budding movie star, and will appear this Friday on the big screen in Silent House.

“We were called eccentric and eclectic,” Mary-Kate and Ashley told Vogue. “But we were just two California girls trying to dress for the New York winter.”

The trio posed for a family photo during the NYLON & AX Armani Exchange Private Dinner. The visibly taller Elizabeth wore a black top and floral-printed skirt, while sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley wore a black leather jacket and red buttondown, respectively.

Elizabeth is currently receiving a ton of Oscar buzz for her role in the cult movie Martha Marcy May Marlene, which hits theaters in limited release on Oct. 21.

Even though it was a weekend full of BBQs and tank-tops, Mary-Kate still managed to look fashionable and elegant as she walked her dog around her tony Manhattan neighborhood.

The actress has a good reason to look so chic – despite having two successful fashion lines (The Row and Elizabeth & James) the star, along with her twin sister Ashley Olsen, launched a new, low-priced online fashion store over the 4th of July weekend. The new line, Stylemint, features t-shirts designed by the twins and everything is priced at a wallet-friendly $29.99.

The t-shirts will change every month and currently include a simple crew-neck, a long-sleeved Henley and a striped T.

Stylemint was created by the same team who launched Jewelmint, Kate Bosworth‘s successful online jewelry line with stylish Cher Coulter. Check out Kate wearing a silver “Sienna” bracelet from her Jewelmint collection below.

The twins’ loose fitting fashion has been described as hobo-chic and at times maternal, but they still keep taking chances when it comes to clothes. Mary-Kate and Ashley also have an fashion line of their own. 

They named their fashion collection The Row after the famous shopping street in central London called Savile Row. “The first piece that we really explored was a t-shirt, and from there we’ve just expanded on all different categories,” the twins said of the origins of their line in a documentary-style online video posted by Bing back in October.

Mary-Kate stepped out in a vintage floor-length, long-sleeved orange gown for the big event. The design included a ruffled bottom, and was paired with thick jewelry. The hobo-chic actress also let her hair loose and wore neutral make-up shades. Meanwhile, her twin sister Ashley also went for a vintage style, stepping out in a black Dior gown with billowing white sleeves. While her sister chose to wear her hair down, Ashley swept her hair up but did decide to go with neutral shades of makeup.

As for the Fanning sisters…

Dakota wore a flowing Valentino design that was accented with delicate flowers, but she chose not to wear any jewelry. The actress straight ironed her hair and went for an au natural look when it came to makeup. 

Her younger sister Elle pulled her hair up into a high bun and put on her lipstick for the event. The Somewhere actress chose a Valentino Haute Couture black skirt and lace top and paired it with black flats.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen helped kick off the festival by attending the premiere of the The Union, one of 15 music-theme films debuting at the event. Tribeca features 90 movies that star celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg, Rainn Wilson, Anna Kendrick, Michael Cera and Denis Leary. There are also music documentaries premiering about rock band Kings of Leon and Ozzy Osbourne.

At The Union premiere, one of the identical twins paired her blood orange baggy trousers with a furry red coat, while the other sister wore a black dress, black pumps and off-white outerwear.

While the Olsen twins have had their claim to fame for some time (i.e. Full House), their little sister Elizabeth Olsen has been making her way to the limelight. The 21-year-old is set to star in three highly anticipated movies, including the horror film Silent House.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Olsen twins prefer New York, but we’re just happy they came out to the West Coast to celebrate their new fashion line!

Megan talked about her first “mean girl” role as the nasty Brianna Wallace in Holiday in the Sun, which co-starred Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen:

I think I just fell into [being typecast as the vixen] because [Holiday in the Sun] was the first time that I was a dark-haired girl against two blonde, sweet, girl-next-door types. I don’t know what kind of look it is that I have but it’s some sort of look that makes me look like I’m a b***h.

Despite having billionaire twin daughters, David is unable to make payments on his California home and has until July 9, 2010 to settle the debt or get out.

According to a source, this is not the first time the child star father has come close to bankruptcy.

David almost lost his home in 2009 because he had several tax liens but managed to borrow enough money to cover them, but he’s in a worse position now because he’s behind on mortgage payments and won’t be able to stop the auction unless he gets his hands on $2 million.
