When CBS premieres its new half-hour comedy, Partners, on Monday night, you may notice some of the actors from a pair of your old favorite TV shows, One Tree Hill and Ugly Betty.

Sophia Bush and Michael Urie star in this hilarious new buddy comedy also featuring David Krumholtz and Brandon Routh. Partners is based upon the 30-plus year friendship of its creators, David Kohan and Max Mutchnick. Krumholtz plays the straight and narrow Joe who is best friends and business partners with the spontaneous Louis (Urie). Joe proposes to Ali (Bush) in the pilot setting the tone for the series. Urie is involved with Routh’s male nurse character, Wyatt.

Recently, Celebuzz was able to catch up with both Bush and Urie at the Paley Center for Media’s Fall TV Preview Panels to get their take on how their characters on Partners differ from their previous roles.

Bush, who played mean girl Brooke on the CW hit, One Tree Hill, told us her new character is much more similar to her own personality. “She’s more similar to who I am,” says the 30-year-old actress. “In the beginning of One Tree it was hard for me to play certain parts of Brooke because she was really out there but her heart was always in the right place. Ali also has a really good heart and has such a true love for Joe.”

What did Urie tell us about how Louis is different from the devious Mark he played on ABC’s Ugly Betty?

“Ok, well the guy on Ugly Betty was extremely conniving and would do anything to get ahead. He was fascinated with all things of fashion and kind of wanted to be Vanessa Williams, “ said Urie. “Louis would probably hate Vanessa Williams and try to tell her how to be different. He is not about fashion. It’s way more about how interesting he is. He actually is a hard worker. He doesn’t feel like sniveling his way to the top.”

While Louis and Mark are very different on the outside, Urie, 32, did remark that there is at least one similarity between the two characters.

‘They’re both spontaneous and that I love,” he exclaimed.

He continued, “That was my favorite thing about playing Mark because between me and you now that the show is over, the clothes were so uncomfortable. Sometimes I was painted in to those things so that was not my favorite part. The favorite part was the spontaneity. The fun stuff that Vanessa and I would come up with in the moment. This character is also very spontaneous. I love going back to that.”

Partners premieres Monday night at 8:30 PM on CBS.

Listen folks, David Krumholtz (Numbers) REALLY wants you to watch his new CBS sitcom, Partners.

Having been on eight television series in his career, Krumholtz is used to shows not always getting the love or the chance they deserve.

However, he told Celebuzz at the Paley Center Preview Panel on Thursday in Beverly Hills, “This feels right. This feels like they’re giving it its best shot. Hopefully people tune in and love it.”

So why should you be watching Partners when it premieres?

The buddy comedy from the team behind Will & Grace, David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, is based upon the 30-plus year friendship the two creators have. Krumholtz plays Joe who is best friends and business partners with Louis (Michael Urie) and proposes to Ali (Sophia Bush) in the pilot. Brandon Routh plays Louis’ significant other, Wyatt.

Given that the basis of the show is relationships, it’s important that the cast have good chemistry, which was cleary displayed at the Paley Center during both the panel and interviews they did.

“We have great chemistry. It just sort of happened naturally,” said Krumholtz speaking of his fast growing real-life friendships with his cast mates especially Urie. “We’re all very like-minded people. The chemistry has only sort of expanded and evolved in the episodes we’ve done so far. Hopefully, people pick up on that. I think the show has gotten better and better as we go so we’ll see what happens.”

Don’t just expect to see only Krumholtz and Urie having fun together on screen. The core four of the cast has tons of scenes together as a group and in various pairings. Urie tells us, “The great thing about the show is any combination is going to be interesting.”

The cast of Partners also teased Celebuzz with hints of upcoming plot points including a game night episode, an interaction between Louis and Ali regarding a key and no shirt, and Wyatt attempting to get Joe in shape.

Bush says, “That’s where the humor comes from. It’s the shenanigans that come out of how ridiculous life can be in the silliest circumstances.”

Seriously though, give Partners a chance. Krumholtz is “begging [us] for people to watch it.”

Partners premieres Monday, Sept. 24 at 8:30 PM on CBS.

CBS’ new buddy comedy Partners is all about relationships. Whether it be the relationship with your best friend, your significant other or your best friend’s significant other, the show finds the humor in the ins and outs of what happens when two of the most important people in your life interact.

Based on the 30 year-long friendship of Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, the show stars David Krumholtz and Micheal Urie as Joe and Louis, life long besties and business partners. In the sitcom’s very first episode, Krumholtz’s Joe gets engaged to the stunning Ali (Sophia Bush). We also meet Louis’ love, Wyatt (Brandon Routh), a reformed partier who is now a vegan nurse.

As part of the Paley Center’s Fall TV Preview week, the cast and creators of Partners gathered on Thursday in Beverly Hills for a hilarious and informative panel on their new show. With everything from auditions to history covered, read on for our top 5 highlights from the event:

BFFs For Life: Kohan and Mutchnick have been friends for more than 30 years now and have been writing together for 20 of them. The duo’s friendship began way back in high school through a mutual friend after Kohan joined the theater department.

“We met through the woman that we actually based the part of Grace on and that story really came out of when I told Janet that I wasn’t going to be able to marry her because vaginas weren’t my thing,” Mutchnick recalls. ”The only way I stayed in touch with her was through David.”

Recreating the friendship: Krumholtz likened the creators’ strong bond to the Siamese twins on TLC’s Abby and Britney. “That’s them,” he says. “They finish each other’s thoughts. They’re connected at the hip.”

Having never met each other before their first day of work, did the actors have to work hard at portraying this epic “bromance”?

Krumholtz told the audience, “We haven’t had to work too hard at it to be honest. Michael and I are kind of kindred spirits I think. It’s kismet. “

Urie continued saying, “I remember when you walked in to Max’s and I was like I’m going to go in for a hug and see what he does. You took it and went ‘ehh.’”

Funny Auditions: Whereas Routh attempted to use an ice-breaker when he auditioned, recalling his one line role (“I’m curvy where it counts.”) on Will & Grace, Bush went all out with her skills. With a scene of the pilot taking place at yoga with Louis, she told the crowd,  “I just got up on the floor and did the scene in downward dog and we were like ‘Yeah. We like each other.’ This is a good thing.”

No controversy: With all the controversy over that other new gay comedy, NBC’s The New Normal, this show hasn’t received any negative attention. When asked why he thinks the show has gone unscathed, Kohan said, “It’s a buddy comedy. I think The New Normal is a little bit more political.”

Mutchnick continued saying, “We are of the mind that we are supposed to entertain as many people as we can at Monday night on 8:30. That’s what our job is. That’s what our job will be. As long as we’re on the air, there will be absolutely no teaching. That’s not for us.”

Thanksgiving in Pa.: An upcoming storyline will feature the gang going to visit Wyatt’s family in Pennsylvania. Wyatt is a member of the Mennonite religion, so the actor claimed that his character doesn’t always understand everything that’s happening around him.

Mutchnick told the crowd, “We’re going to have a very Mennonite thanksgiving. They’re all going to Pennsylvania for thanksgiving and Wyatt is going to come out to his family as vegan.”

Partners premieres Monday, Sept. 24 at 8:30 PM on CBS.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation honored some of show biz’s best and brightest on Saturday night, as the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards took place at the Marriott Marquis in New York. The awards honor media companies and individuals for fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.

America’s Next Top Model/Tyra Banks Show host Tyra Banks was bestowed with the Excellence in Media Award, which was presented to her by American Idol vet Clay Aiken.

Grey’s Anatomy star T.R. Knight was also on hand, to present financial guru Suze Orman with the Vito Russo Award, while talk-show legend Phil Dohanue was granted the Special Recognition Award.

Also in attendance: Sex and the City actor Chris Noth and several cast members of the hit sitcom Ugly Betty, including Vanessa Williams, Michael Urie and Ana Ortiz, who proudly flaunted her baby bump on the red carpet. (Ortiz is expecting a daughter with husband Noah Lebenzon in July.)

Ugly Betty is up for Outstanding Comedy Series in another awards ceremony that GLAAD has planned for April 18 in Los Angeles. Other nominees for that ceremony include the biopic Milk, Woody Allen‘s Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters and Greek.

Filming on the cold winter concrete of New York City can be tough for an actress.

While filming a scene for her show Ugly Betty with co-stars Becki Newton and Michael Urie, Betty star America Ferrera took a spill. And it wasn’t part of the script.

Photographers caught Newton and Urie laughingly coming to her rescue, as did a crew member on the Ugly Betty set.

It’s entirely possible that Ferrera fell over when she saw that jacket Newton, who plays the conniving Amanda on the show, is wearing.

Newton’s wearing a multi-colored, bizarrely textured creation that makes her look like a flamenco dancer who got caught in a jet engine.

That might make anyone lose their balance upon seeing it.

Cameron Diaz has played a lot of parts in her 36 years, but Princess Fiona in the just-opened Shrek the Musical won’t be one of them.

The There’s Something About Mary actress—who lends her voice to the Princess Fiona character in the highly lucrative Shrek movie series—attended the new play’s debut at New York’s Broadway Theater Sunday night.

When asked if she’d consider adapting her role for a live performance, Diaz—who was joined by such famous colleagues as Ben Stiller, Phylicia Rashad, Ugly Betty‘s America Ferrera and Michael Urie, Joan Rivers and Rosie Perez—was relentlessly negative on the matter.

“No. Absolutely not,” the actress shot back, according to OK! Magazine. “What they do up there… is, to me, impossible. It’s wonderful, though. They’ve done such a great job. They worked really hard, and it really pays off…It’s hilarious. There are so many laughs.”

The David Lindsay-Abaire-penned, Jason Moore-directed play stars Sutton Foster, 33, as Princess Fiona and Brian d’Arcy James, 40, as the big green title ogre, and mixes humorous pop-culture references with musical numbers. Check out a video preview of the stage production below:

Looks like a hit, but it’s understandable that Cameron declined to participate. For one thing, she really, really doesn’t need the money.

Aside from that, she already has her hands full when she’s not cranking out movies.

The Skylight gallery in New York was lit up with star power last night, as Us Weekly held its Hot Hollywood party.

On hand were High School Musical super-couple Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron (who was honored with the “Star of the Year” award), their castmate Ashley Tisdale, Ugly Betty‘s Becki Newton and Michael Urie, Gossip Girl vixen Blake Lively, and Gavin Rossdale.

Gossip maven Just Jared was on hand for the event, digging up juicy tidbits from the high-profile assemblage.

In addition to entertainment by DJ Cassidy, the attendees enjoyed cocktails (which Zac is finally legally able to indulge in), filet mignon, and complimentary manicures.

Event sponsors BlackBerry even sent the guests home with a free BlackBerry Pearl by AT&T, which is a good thing—surely they’ll be wanting to let all their friends know what a great time they had!
