The stork has delivered for Rosie O’Donnell!

The comedian and wife Michelle Rounds have secretly adopted a baby girl. “we r thrilled to announce the arrival of r daughter Dakota,” O’Donnell announced on Twitter on Wednesday, sharing a snap of the happy couple cuddling their new bundle of joy. “#withloveandthanks – AMEN.”

O’Donnell has four other children — son Parker, 17, daughter Chelsea, 15, son Blake, 13, and daughter Vivienne, 10 — with ex-partner Kelli Carpenter, from whom she split several years ago. But Dakota is the first kid for Rounds.

After tying the knot in a hush-hush ceremony in June 2012, O’Donnell and Rounds revealed their wedding two months later. But their joyous nuptials news came along with the heartbreaking announcement: Rounds suffers from desmoid tumors, a rare and life-threatening disease, for which she underwent surgery in June.

Back in 2010, O’Donnell opened up about becoming a parent. Before starting a family, she long feared the experience of losing her own mother at age 10 would have an effect on her parenting ability. “For a long time, I had been telling myself: ‘Well, I was not parented after the age of 10. I’m not going to know what to do when they get older than 10,’” she told Oprah.

But in time, O’Donnell realized that was not true. When she was left motherless, women of her Long Island neighborhood graciously stepped in as surrogate mothers.

“I was raised with love, compassion and grace by women who were not connected to me by biological means, and that’s exactly what I ended up doing,” she continued. “We need families so that we have people to take care of us and people we can take care of, and so that we can learn what it means to love all the way.”

Rosie O’Donnell has officially tied the knot.

O’Donnell, 50, married her fiancée Michelle Rounds in a private ceremony on June 9, PEOPLE confirmed Monday.

The couple was originally supposed to wed in August; however the date was moved forward after Rounds was diagnosed with desmoid tumors, a rare benign disease that only affects approximately three out of every million people. (Rounds’ first surgery was on June 14.)

What did O’Donnell have to say about the big day?

O’Donnell made the news public on her blog, writing, ”We married in private before [Michelle's] surgery, just the [two] of us. When we [are] both well enough will have the wedding of [our] dreams surrounded by those we cherish [sic].”

The former TV host had her own health scares last week when she suffered a heart attack. “They call this type of heart attack the Widow maker. I am lucky to be here,” she wrote on her blog.

O’Donnell was previously married to Kelli Carpenter, with whom she has four children. They split in 2007.
