Damon and Eastwood’s ‘Human Factor’

Matt Damon sports a snazzy tracksuit on the set of his new film Human Factor in Cape Town, South Africa.

Directed by Clint Eastwood, the movie is slated to hit theaters in December. It’s a snapshot of Nelson Mandela‘s efforts to unify South Africa after apartheid, using the triumph of Springboks’ 1995 Rugby World Cup. Morgan Freeman is tapped to play Mandela.

Earlier this week, the Bourne Identity star took part in the annual Cape Argus Cycle Tour with his brother Kyle and Springbok hero Francois Pienaar during the March 8, 2009 race. Though cycling for a noble cause, the actor heeded nature’s call mid-race.

Morgan Freeman in Serious Condition Following Accident

Respected Hollywood icon Morgan Freeman is in serious condition after being involved in a single-car automobile accident in Mississippi last night.

Mississippi Highway Patrol public affairs officer Sgt. Ben Williams told People that Freeman was driving with an unnamed passenger in Tallahatchie County at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Freeman’s 1997 Nissan Maxima was moving eastbound on Mississippi Highway 32. The car veered off the edge of the road and overturned several times before coming to a stop.

Freeman and the passenger were removed from the vehicle by an emergency crew, then flown to Regional Medical Center in Freeman’s hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.

“All I can say is one word: His condition is ‘serious,’ ” says RMC hospital rep Kathy Stringer.

Morgan Freeman won an Oscar for his supporting role in 2004′s Million Dollar Baby.

Currently he’s on movie screens in The Dark Knight, a film whose cast more and more appears to be plagued by bad luck and tragedy.

The deceased Heath Ledger‘s family attended the New York City premiere of The Dark Night last night.

Kim Ledger, recently rumored to be in financial dispute over Heath’s estate with Michelle Williams, attended with Heath’s stepmother, Ines. Kim was sighted giving a thumbs-up when he left the theatre.

Heath portrays the psychotic Joker in what many are terming an Oscar-worthy performance.

Heath’s mother, Sally Bell, and older sister Kate also attended.

Batman incarnate, Christian Bale, praised his co-star: “He steals the movie, and I’m quite happy to say that. He’s created a joker that will become a classic portrayal of the ages.”

Bale’s obviously a stand-up guy. Most other actors would be stoic about the spotlight high-jacking and cursing Heath’s name under their breath.
