Cher Lloyd needs a little alone time.

The U.K. starlet – who got toes tapping in the States with last year’s “Want U Back” – is currently prepping her sophomore album, but she’s not exactly calling in the big guns for help.

“I want to do my thing for a little bit,” she told Celebuzz at Wednesday’s Fruttare event in NYC, where she helped launch the fruit bar’s official U.S. debut. “I want to feel like I don’t have to have someone there to help me push a single or push my album.”

“On my last album, which was my debut, I worked with a lot of people – but now I feel like this is my album, and I want to do me.”

Unless, of course, a certain someone calls her…maybe.

“That’s not to say if Nicki Minaj comes forward I won’t say no,” she added with a laugh.

Cher’s clearly not adverse to high-profile playdates: next up for the former U.K. X-Factor contestant is – well, yeah – a duet with a really big pop star. Her partner in crime? None other than Ne-Yo, and their collaboration is bound to be sweet: it’s a song for Fruttare, and fans are being asked to help inspire its lyrics via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. He was even on hand at the Fruttare launch, along with some really good popsicles. (And we’re not just saying that because we hope the Fruttare people will send us a box. Or two.)

What else has Cher been up to? Not watching American Idol like the rest of us, for one: the 19-year-old says she’s been too busy to tune in and see Randy, Mariah, Keith and that lady she just might want to work with critique a crop of singers who are starting out just like she did.

But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have some advice for Candice, Angie, Amber, Kree and Janelle. Oh, and Laz too.

“It’s not the position you make in the competition – it’s what you take out of it,” she said. “I tend to see many contestants get to sixth place, fifth place, and they start to crumble because they feel like they didn’t win so they’re not good enough to go forward.

“But I finished fourth, and the next day I asked will.i.am if I could go into the studio with him. And that was just me asking him. It’s not about what everyone else does for you – it’s what you do for yourself.

So take note, Idol kids: Get Mariah’s digits and call her. Maybe.

He’s dueted with Rihanna, written for Beyonce, performed with Mariah and even produced the late, great Michael Jackson. Is there anyone left on Ne-Yo’s dream list of collaborators?

You bet your fedora there is.

“Adele,” the eternally chapeau-ed hitmaker said at Wednesday’s Fruttare event in NYC, where he helped launch the fruit bar’s official U.S. debut. “I’m a huge fan. I’d love to get in the studio with her.”

He’d also like to spend a lil’ more time with Jay-Z. The two previously teamed up in 2007 for “Crazy,” but Mr. Yo says there’s a lot more fire left in the stove. (We just made that expression up – run with it.)

“I don’t feel like we’ve ever done anything to the potential of what a Ne-Yo and Jay-Z song can be,” he said. “Same thing with Kanye West.”

Any others?

“I’m a huge fan of Drake – I respect him as a writer as well as an artist. I could sit here all day – there’s a lot of people in the business I have the utmost respect for.”

Ne-Yo’s partnership plate is certainly filling up fast: he’s on the airwaves right now with “Tonight,” a duet with American Idol Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez.

“It’s actually a song that I had written previously, so my voice was already on it,” he said. “And they were like, ‘How would you feel about this being a duet?’ She has a big, incredible voice, so I was all for it.”

The result: an up-tempo club banger that just may be vying for Song of the Summer honors. Check it out, and don’t be afraid to admit you danced a little in your chair.

Jessica isn’t the only lucky lady who’s getting a piece of Ne-Yo action: U.K. singer Cher Lloyd is prepping to couple up with the artist formerly known as Shaffer Smith. Don’t know her? Bet you do. First off, she’s the lovely lady sitting next to Ne-Yo during our interview. Secondly, she made a catchy tune called “Want You Back” last year and then donned a bandeau top and thankfully form-fitting shorts for this:

“I still have a few singles I want to drop off of R.E.D.,” he said. But best of all, he revealed, “I’m about to go in and start working on the next project in a minute.”

As part of mtvU and United Way’s alternative Spring Break, “Spring Fix,” the network brought in 50 college students from around the country to help rebuild areas in New York and New Jersey, which were devastated by Storm Sandy.

As a reward for their efforts, they were treated to games from the Jersey Shore cast and a concert from Ne-Yo and Timeflies on March 23 at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, N.J.

The special “Spring Fix” programming will air on MTV and mtvU Monday-Thursday. Here are some highlights:

Monday-Thursday: MTV will air two Ne-Yo performances and two Timeflies performances in the early evening. During primetime, look for some fun segments showing the volunteers working on “Spring Fix” projects with World of Jenks star Andrew Jenks in the Rockaways (Monday); Jersey Shore’s Vinny Guadagnino, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and New York Giants player Justin Tuck in Staten Island (Tuesday); the Real World cast in Union Beach (Wednesday); and the Jersey Shore cast and Jenks from Six Flags (Thursday).

Additionally, mtvU will air performances and “Spring Fix” footage throughout the day all this week.

Singer-songwriter Trey Songz has splashed $35,000-a-month on a Hollywood Hills, Calif. rental.

The 13,000-square-foot mansion will be ready for Songz to move in on April 1 and offers some of the most lavish amenities a homeowner could ask for.

Even better: Songz’ pal Ne-Yo lives just down the road!

Ne-Yo is giving back to those who are doing the same in the wake of Storm Sandy. And Celebuzz has the exclusive deets ahead of MTV’s official announcement on Monday.

The three-time Grammy-winning artist will headline the mtvU and United Way “Spring Fix” benefit concert at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey on Saturday, March 23.

The concert tops off mtvU and United Way’s alternative spring break, which kicks off on Sunday, March 17. They will bring 50 college students from around the country to help rebuild communities in the New York/New Jersey areas that were devastated by the storm.

“I feel privileged to be part of an event that not only recognizes young people who are volunteering their time to help people affected by Hurricane Sandy, but that is also continuing to raise awareness of the effect Sandy has had on many communities,” says Ne-Yo.

MTV’s Jersey Shore and The Show With Vinny star Vinny Guadagnino, as well as World of Jenks documentary series star Andrew Jenkswill be among the celebrities lending a hand during the alternative spring break.

Additionally, MTV and mtvU will be airing highlights from the “Spring Fix” service projects starting Monday, April 1.

Service projects are being planned with United Way in New York, including Long Beach, The Rockaways and Staten Island, as well as Ocean County, New Jersey.

“Spring Fix” is just the latest effort from MTV to help those affected by Storm Sandy. Last November, it aired the hour-long fundraising special, Restore the Shore. The network held its first alternative spring break with United Way in 2006 following Hurricane Katrina.

When it comes to Christmas music, it looks like two of the music industry’s biggest artists prefer the pop tunes to the religious ones.

“Favorite holiday song? ‘The Christmas Song,’” singer Ne-Yo told Celebuzz last Friday, before belting out a few lines from the Nat King Cole classic.

“I’m a holiday nut, I love ‘Sleigh Ride,’ I love ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside,’ I love ‘Winter Wonderland,’”" soft rock crooner Jason Mraz said. “They’re all inclusive, except for those in the southern hemisphere where they’re not getting much snow, then I feel bad that I’m singing about snow.”

“It’s hard to place your heart in the right place.”

The singers were just two of a slew of performers at the annual Z100 Jingle Ball show, which was held at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

For Mraz, the holidays are about turning everything off.

“I go off the grid. I go home. I’ve never played a New Year’s show or anything. I love to just go back to Virginia, put on a scarf, be with the family. It’s really great,” he told us.

As for his New Year’s resolution?

“Live the dream. it’s all about living the dream 2013,” the “I’m Yours” singer said.

On the other hand, Ne-Yo’s way of coming up with resolutions involves as little work as possible.

“Here’s the trick: you wait till the last hour or so of the year and then you make [your resolution]. So all the way up to that time, you can screw up as much as you want,” he said.

What does Ne-Yo have in common with country-pop crooner Taylor Swift? Aside from their affinity for hats, their latest albums share a similar title.

“Mine is R.E.D., hers is Red. Great minds think alike,” he told Celebuzz on the orange carpet for the fourth annual TeenNick HALO Awards on Saturday. So is there a future collaboration in the works?

Ne-Yo said there’s nothing on tap just yet, but he’d love to record a song with the “Begin Again” singer. “Taylor,” he said,”if you’re interested, holler at your boy!”

Ne-Yo performed his hit single “Let Me Love You” during the star-studded evening. Created by Nick Cannon, the TeenNick HALO Awards honor and celebrate real teens who are “Helping and Leading Others” (HALO).

“Nick is the hardest working man. Period,” N-Yo said of his good friend. “Not only is he producing this show, a radio show, a TV show, father of two beautiful children, husband, janitor, I think he cooks, I heard he does Taibo on Sundays… He’s incredible.”

TeenNick HALO Awards will air as a 90-minute special on Monday, Nov. 19, at 8PM ET  on Nick at Nite, with an encore Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 10PM ET on TeenNick.

Ne-Yo may have performed for a very deserving crowd at Saturday’s TeenNick Halo Awards, but the singer also had two huge fans in Big Time Rush.

“I’ve ben a fan of Ne-Yo before I even had a job in music,” BTR’s James Maslow told Celebuzz on the red carpet before the show.

Carlos Pena, who presented an award with the group at the event, held at the Hollywood Palladium, even provided some fun trivia on the carpet.

“He has a song called ‘Let Me Love You,’ and he wrote Mario’s ‘Let Me Love You.’ He did it twice . . . he’s pretty awesome,” Pena said.

The TeenNick Halo Awards, which recognizes teenagers who make a difference in their communities, also welcomed the likes of Mariah Carey, Lucy Hale, Victoria Justice and show creator, co-host and producer Nick Cannon.

“There are so many kids out there who are doing so much, even more than we are . . . they’re just giving their entire lives to go and help other people out and to me, that’s such a beautiful thing,” Pena said about the young difference makers.

The 2012 TeenNick Halo Awards will air Monday at 8PM ET on Nick at Nite.

Chances are, if you’ve spent more than 30 minutes on the internet, you know of Charice – the internet singing sensation that turned her passion for music into a full-fledged singing and acting career. After being dubbed by Oprah as the “most talented girl in the world,” 19-year-old Charice landed a guest spot on Glee as the adorable Sunshine and a major role in the upcoming film, Here Comes the Boom.

Celebuzz got a chance to chat with Charice as she prepared for a party with Lifesavers Gummies at Bowlmor Lanes in Times Square on Tuesday, June 14. Charice is currently campaigning for orange to be included as a new flavor in the Lifesavers Gummies pack. 

First off, lets talk about this Lifesavers event you are doing for the Lifesavers Orange flavor at Bowlmor Lanes in Times Square – what motivated you to get involved in this campaign?

I am here to support the orange flavor for the new flavor they will put in the Lifesavers pack. What motivated me to sign on was when I was reading the details about it, each flavor, the orange, blue raspberry and lemonade, each flavor had a background. Orange is smart and everything, and I can relate to him because when they told me about it, he was the underdog of the flavor vote. I can relate to him because before I was always the underdog. It makes me feel great to support – I know it’s not a person – but it makes me feel great to be able to support this flavor and to see all the votes, it’s crazy. Orange went from the underdog to the top baby! It makes me feel happy.

Well you are all dressed in orange, you look great in orange.

You just wrapped your first season on Glee – was it a fun experience filming the show?

It was a great experience. Especially when we did the season finale, because it was my birthday when we shot the finale episode. it was a great experience working with them – all the cast, the crew, everybody. I just miss them because they’re like family now.

Do you think you’ll be joining on for season three?

Actually… [laughs]. It all depends on them. Of course, I would love to come back.  Of course – it’s Glee! Not only because it’s a big TV show, it’s also because of the relationship I had with everyone. I got really close with them, so I would love to be a part of it again.

You also just wrapped Here Comes the Boom with Salma Hayek and Kevin James – was it exciting working on a film with such big stars?

I’m still in shock. When I auditioned for the movie, they gave me the script and gave me a role but I didn’t realize that my role was one of the main characters. So I was like ‘okay,’ and spent almost three months in Boston – back and forth LA to Boston to shoot the movie.

It was a little emotional when I did the last scene with Kevin James, everybody was there, Selma…they took a picture with me and everybody was like ‘Aww, Charice is done with the movie,’ and I was like ‘Really?!’ [Laughs.] The days went by so fast. The great thing is that they gave me my name on one of those director’s chairs, and I love it. It’s a big remembrance for me. It’s been a great experience, and I just want to thank them for trusting me, this whole acting thing is new to me but it’s been a great experience.

Can you tell us a little more about your character in the film?

My character in the movie, her name is Malia De la Cruz, she is Kevin James’ student. She’s a musical genius, she is a brainiac, she is really into school. She really cares about Mr. Voss, Kevin James’ character, he is the biology teacher. She cares about him because his role is more of the lazy teacher, and my character’s dad is a little violent, and he wants to me to go back to the Philippines just to be a waitress and not to go to school and do the music anymore. Which is, in real life, it’s sort of my life as well. It’s a pretty big role, we did a pretty big scene as well between Kevin James and I, it’s a really big scene, I cried and everything. [Sighs and laughs.]

You are a big Twitter user – did you try to get Salma and Kevin to join Twitter?

Well, Henry Winkler has a Twitter, it’s cute. It’s weird that he has a Twitter and Salma doesn’t. It’s funny because every time I go to set everybody talks about Twitter. Henry – he is really cute – is like ‘Oh, Charice’s fan tweeted at me,’ and Salma is like ‘What’s Twitter?’ Twitter is really addicting! Sometimes you think it’s really public, you see of course the negative stuff, but it’s fun to share stuff. [Salma] is just not into it [laughs], it’s just very public. But it’s a great way to promote stuff.

Speaking of negative stuff on Twitter, what kind of message do you have for young girls who might be the victims of cyberbullying through Twitter, etc.?

Oh, I mean, boy, oh my god. I’ve experienced that a lot, especially now. I get a lot of negative messages on Twitter and Facebook, stuff like that. It is just part of [using social media]. Sometimes the worst part is that some people can’t take [the negativity], they are too weak to handle that kind of stuff. You just have to be strong about it. It’s just words coming out of other people, if they say ‘you’re ugly,’ its just a word – it’s never gonna kill you. I just want to tell other girls that if you hear a person telling you negative stuff, just remember that they’re not talking about you, they’re talking about themselves.

Looking towards the future, are there any actors and actresses that you’d like to work with?

Uh, Angelina Jolie [Laughs]. Well, right now, if I were to do a movie again, I’d love to try a horror movie but I don’t want to be the victim, I wanna be the scary one! Like the movie Orphan, sort of like that. I’m really into horror stuff, my dream is to work in a horror film, and if they give me a chance to work with an actress or actor, Natalie Portman or Jason Statham. They are really cool.

That’s interesting that you are into horror movies, what are some of your favorite horror films?

Oh boy, I don’t know if you want to hear this…[laughs]. I’m more into gory stuff, you know like the Saw movies, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I think it’s pretty cool, because everybody knows that, all the roles they gave me are like student-genius and everything. I want an experience that everybody would be like, ‘Wow, this is the other side of Charice.’

Are there any artists that you’d like to work with?

Oh definitely, I’d love to work with either Ne-Yo or Chris Brown. The songs that I really love are more like their songs, R&B and stuff. Right now we don’t have a female doing that kind of stuff, more like hip-hop and everything like that, so I would love to work with them. And Eminem, oh my god, and Dr. Dre.

You also just released a new song, “Louder.”

Oh yes! Jeez, my song. [Laughs.] Yeah, I just released my single “Louder,” it came out last week. I actually just released two songs, “Louder” and “Lost the Best Thing”, but the single is “Louder.” It’s on iTunes right now, and actually a couple a weeks ago I released it “Before it Explodes,” Bruno Mars actually wrote the song, it’s a very great song, it’s my favorite actually. So just, download it! [Laughs.]

Candace Abbott: I’m starting to believe that with a Windows 7 Phone you can end up just about anywhere.

I was saved last night from another Sunday of reality television and Trader Joe’s Cheese Puffs, courtesy of my little device, which somehow landed me on the black carpet for a post American Music Awards happening. The fete was hosted by VEVO and R&B sensation, Ne-Yo, who brought along a few of his friends to liven up the party.

First up, a black carpet arrival from Sharon Leal, one of Hellcats’ stunning actors. The girl looked fabulous in an Alice + Olivia number and peep-toe, leopard-print Michael Kors platforms, while gushing about her love for Stella McCartney (that ‘a girl). Between journalist chatter about Marc Jacobs glasses at an AMA gifting suite — Windows and I didn’t make it there — and the usual carpet clamour, Cheryl Burke rolled in with what seemed to be the evening “must have,” a cropped leather jacket. I was wearing mine too (my weather app told me to do it). Jada Marie, one of Ne-Yo’s artists signed to Motown made her way in and chatted us up on how she and buddy, Katy Perry wrote a song together. The doll even posed for a photo, which I easily sent to Twitter, compliments of the Twitter for Windows app. And Tiffany Hines, an absolute beauty from “Nikita” spoke candidly about how much she’s loving Ne-Yo’s new album, Libra Scale. Obviously, my phone and I were digging the black carpet scene and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. But it went from great to grand as Miss Keri Hilson arrived in a knock out dress, Armani shoes and her two-toned ‘do — she said she needed to “Step it up a bit, this is Ne-Yo.” She also chatted about how excited she was for Justin Bieber. Aww celeb love. The man of the hour, Ne-Yo, finally arrived in a tailored burgundy number and his quintessential hat. A proud papa spoke about his new daughter and how thrilled he was for the evening’s happenings.

Once inside I found a spot near Whitney Port and her beau Ben Nemtin, who were laughing and dancing as lovers do. The house was packed with everyone from Mike “The Situation,” who glanced my way, to Brandy and Ray J., Ke$ha, Megan Good and the list goes on, my friends. Windows 7 and I were elated to be there. Especially when 90210’s Tristan Wilds helped us through the o entrance with a chivalry that is sometimes dead in this town.

Around 11:55, the show started and I (wearing a different and somewhat less painful pair of platforms), was so anxious. Ne-Yo opened up with his hit, “Champagne Life,” a nod at the freely flowing Moet & Chandon Nectar Imperial. To follow up a surprise performance from P.Diddy and Dirty Money literally rocked the house. He performed throwbacks like “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems” and newbies like “Hello Good Morning.” Stellar. His energy was killer and Jenny McCarthy and friends were totally feeling the music. Shortly after Kelly Rowland hit the stage (her look channeling Josephine Baker) with her single “Grown Woman.” Keri Hilson sang a duet with Ne-Yo — ”Knock You Down” — and her latest, “Pretty Girl Rock,” which she belted out with an unmatched talent. Ne-Yo sang one of my favorites, “Miss Independent,” and added a info on the song, telling the crowd that all of his songs mean so much more, especially this one, now that his daughter is here (the little bundle was born on the 12th). Can we say precious? Mix in a little Jamie Foxx and some more star power and it was a fanciful evening.

I left with a roll full of video to share with my friends, a heap of photos for Facebook, a couple of tweets and a flirty “excuse me” from a handsome gentleman, who resembled Trey Songz. Thanks, for being my plus one, Windows Phone.

Lucas Till loves interacting with his fans (Follow him on Twitter much?) and the Hannah Montana actor’s new iPhone App will be taking that interaction to a new level—which is good news to all you Sci-Fi fans out there.

Till is currently slaying aliens on the set of his latest movie, Battle: Los Angeles, along with R&B superstar-turned-actor Ne-Yo!

The two actors went straight to bootcamp to prepare for their roles as members of the U.S. Marine Corps, and Till tells Celebuzz exclusively that Ne-Yo left his attitude at home and brought his sense of humor.

“I have really high expectations of people who have a lot of attention on them and how they act as human beings, and this guy, he’s blowing up the radio right now and he’s so… normal. I mean he comes up and does Hank Hill impersonations from King of the Hill. Hilarious.”

But that doesn’t mean that the actors’ bootcamp training is all fun and games. He shared,

You’re not even awake yet and you’re doing push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, running and that’s not even a fraction of what you do as a Marine,” Till said. “Basically we go through all the training that [the Marines] do in 3 weeks instead of their 6.”

So what’s one thing you can check out from the movie on Till’s new iPhone App? His new grown-up hairstyle.

“It’s a military haircut now. I have it real short, and that’s the way I like it because I look NOT like a kid!”

Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Ne-Yo and Cobra Starship prettied up for the camera and posed with the famous moonmen trophies for these promo shots for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, which will take place on September 13.

As expected, music legend Michael Jackson—who died on Thursday after suffering cardiac arrest at the age of 50—was honored big-time at the BET Awards on Sunday night.

During a tribute that included Jamie Foxx and Ne-Yo performing the Jackson 5′s 1970 hit “I’ll Be There,” Jackson sister, Janet Jackson, offered an emotional remembrance of her brother.

“To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family, and he will forever live in all of our hearts,” Jackson noted as she choked back tears. “On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all of your love. Thank you for all of your support, we miss him so much.”
