The Easy Rider actor is speaking up about director Roman Polanski, who’s currently facing charges of raping a 13-year-old girl in 1973.

According to Fonda, he doesn’t understand the hoopla over Polanksi because, hey, things could be worse.

Says Fonda,

“We should have been celebrating the arrest of Osama bin Laden and not the arrest of Polanski. [Roman Polanski] is not responsible for killing anyone.”

Oh, well, hey then; let’s throw open the prison gates and release all the non-murderers!

You know, when you have to stand in the special section away from the conveyor belt and X-ray machine and let them look through the clothes you’re wearing?

Even someone who has as much Hollywood stature as Fonda—famously known for his portrayal of hippie icon “Captain America” in Easy Rider—isn’t free from having to lose his belt and shoes and submit to a patdown.

Hopefully he was bright enough to leave the herbal refreshment at home, unlike another California dreamin’-type star who tried to beat the odds recently.
