Katharine McPhee tackles Christina Aguilera‘s empowering hit, “Beautiful” for the upcoming NBC series, Smash, which centers on aspiring Broadway actors and writers and their attempt to put a musical together.

Alternative rock band, Boyce Avenue is known for covering some of today’s mainstream hits. Their piano cover of Rihanna and David Guetta‘s “We Found Love” on YouTube has already garnered almost 3 million views.

During a live performance on BBC, Florence and the Machine paid tribute to Drake with a rendition of  “Take Care.” Florence added her signature ethereal vocals to her version, which almost left fans of Flo and Drizzy wishing the duo would team up for a collaboration.

From one legend to another. Prince‘s current tour setlist consists of a short cover of Michael Jackson‘s 1979 hit, “Don’t Stop Til’ You Get Enough.” Looks like the king of funk is still at the top of his game!

Photos from the set have already revealed a pigtailed Lea Michele dressed for her best “Baby One More Time,” but Murphy let a few more details slip in a chat with “On Air With Ryan Seacrest,” saying Matthew Morrison will not be shaving his head – because there will be no Britney-bashing or mention of her more fragile times.

The Britney episode is so reverential about her, and so kind and it’s about her music. It’s not about her personal life. I think Britney Spears is pop culture, and I think she’s been through a lot. And I want to do something that just sort of says, ‘You know what, thank you for what you’ve done. And we’re encouraging you to continue to be doing as fantastic as you are.’ We’re handling Britney with kid gloves.

Murphy said he also hopes to handle Prince, Michael Jackson and/or Paul McCartney in the show’s sophomore season, which will feature a show-stopping “After the Super Bowl” episode.

In other Glee news, Mark Salling, who plays class stud Puck, dropped his first single – “Higher Power” – on Seacrest’s morning radio show, announcing he’ll release his debut album, called “Pipe Dreams,” on Oct. 12.

The pop legend explained that he has decided to quit the internet an interview with The Mirror (via The Superficial):

The internet’s completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it. The internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.

Prince decided to close down his official website and his newest album will be released in CD format only.

We don’t really understand Prince’s “computers filling your head with numbers” thing (or do we understand it too well?) but if he doesn’t want to sell his album online that is his own business.

We hate to tell him this but most fans are going to have to import his CD onto their computers so they can listen to his songs on their iPods, iPhones or MP3 players so, he hasn’t completely cut out the evil computers and “digital gadgets” out of the equation.

But now OK! Magazine is presenting a more intimate view of the King of Pop’s spawn with family photos featuring Jackson, his daughter Paris, and her older brother, Prince Michael I.

One photo shows Jackson helping Prince celebrate his sixth birthday in 2003 at Jackson’s famed compound Neverland Ranch with a Spider-man themed party.

In another shot, taken in 1998, Prince welcomes new baby sis Paris with his dad and mom, Jackson’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe.

Yet another photo shows Prince and Paris playing dress-up in Neverland in 2001, with Prince wearing a smart suit and Paris in a white gown and veil.

It’s a nice glimpse back at happier times for the kids, and a rare glimpse of Michael Jackson fulfilling the role of family man.

Yahoo! News reports that the diminutive and androgynous star is being sued by Revelations for $100,000 for neglecting to promote his “3121″ perfume.

The scent was named for Prince’s 2006 album.

“Since July 2007, despite repeated attempts by Revelations there have been virtually no communications from anyone who could commit to or coordinate any promotional efforts by Prince,” the breach of contract lawsuit said.

A fragrance was released in 2007, and a follow up is due to be marketed in 2009.

Judging by cell phone enemy Prince’s recent condemnation of same-sex marriage, both colognes may smell a little fishy.

“So here’s how it is: you’ve got the Republicans, and basically they want to live according to [the bible],” Prince told author Claire Hoffman.

“And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you’ve got blue, you’ve got the Democrats,” he said. “And they’re, like, ‘You can do whatever you want.’ Gay marriage, whatever. But neither of them is right.”

Prince goes on to say that God personally responded to homosexuals upon seeing “people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, ‘Enough.’”

The singer is evidently rooted to his mission as a Jehovah’s Witness. When he’s not behaving like the world’s most exclusive party animal, the purple one goes door-to-door preaching.

“Sometimes people act surprised, but mostly they’re really cool about it,” said Prince of his house calls.

He might not want to be caught spreading the word in West Hollywood.

Update: Perez Hilton is reporting a source close to the singer’s camp claims he was misquoted. Moreso, that journalist Claire Hoffman has stacked several inaccuracies (including an imaginary hip injury for the Artists) and didn’t even use a recording device for the interview.

“We’re very angry he was misquoted,” the insider said.

Celebuzz has contacted Prince’s camp for comment.

The diminutive rocker was scheduled to play a gig benefiting Love 4 One Another on the rooftop of Manhattan’s Gansevoort Hotel over the weekend.

But the crowd’s rampant cell-phone use was wreaking havoc with the “Purple Rain” singer’s sound system.

According to the paper, the emcee’s pleas that “there may not be a show” if the fans didn’t hang up their damn cell phones fell on deaf—or at least otherwise occupied—ears.

Among those refusing to ring off included a publicist involved with the event.

Luckily, concert organizers eventually convinced the audience to turn off their phones and the show went on.

“It was so obnoxious,” a fan later told the paper. “To think a bunch of idiots can’t exist without their precious cells for an hour.”

Yeah; a bunch of show-bizzers gluing their ears to their phones despite explicit instructions not to—it’s practically unthinkable.

It’s a good thing Naomi Campbell wasn’t among the famous faces at the event. Prince wouldn’t want to run into her when she’s agitated and has a cell phone in her hand.

Celebuzz has learned that Prince, inspiration to many a burgeoning starlet, employs what he calls an “advancer,” a quality controller of sorts, to guarantee an atmosphere worthy of his presence.

“The advancer scopes out the place,” a source reveals. “They look for a good scene, vibe, and music. This has to be done before Prince enters.”

Last night in New York City, an advancer was hard at work, checking up on new Lower East Side hotspot the Eldridge.

The scout gave the green light for Prince to roll into the lounge, which has a maximum occupancy of about 85, at around 1 a.m., with five bodyguards and a handful of personal guests.

And even more a compliment from The Artist than his mere attendance? The music passed his inspection.

Prince, who travels around the clock with a personal DJ, Rashida, actually approved the club’s house man—DJ Mel DeBarge.

“He gave Mel a thumbs up, which is a huge deal.”

After last call, Prince packed up the entourage and hit club Butter for fourth meal—a late-night buffet and more dancing.
