Daniel Craig and his wife Rachel Weisz have partnered up with The Opportunity Network to assist low-income students in New York City, the nonprofit organization announced Wednesday.

The partnership, which includes a multiyear charitable gift from the stars, will help place high-achieving, low-income students in top colleges and successful careers. The Hollywood power couple, who married in New York City in 2011, recently made the Big Apple their permanent home.

“Some of the brightest, most motivated young people are living in New York City neighborhoods where college seems further away than a foreign country. We want to help give them a passport to a better life,” Craig said.

“We are incredibly grateful for Daniel and Rachel’s gift. Not only will it help us get more programs to more kids in need, but it raises awareness of the important work we do, and puts us on the map in a new and bigger way,” added Opportunity Network founder and executive director Jessica Pliska.

The organization, which was founded 10 years ago, works with students from sophomore year in high school through college graduation, all while preparing them for post-secondary, career opportunities, internships and networking skills.

Rachel Weisz is ready to take her role as James Bond’s leading lady from off screen to reel life.

Even before taking his third turn as 007 in Skyfall, Daniel Craig renewed his license to kill on the silver screen for at least two more films in the lucrative, long-running franchise. Now his wife — with whom he tied the knot in 2011 — is open to joining him in the spy series.

“I’d like to!” she told Esquire UK‘s April issue, on newsstands March 7, of potentially playing a Bond Girl. “I wouldn’t say no. I’m not a snob about entertainment.”

It wouldn’t be the first time the pair teamed up in front of the camera. Weisz and Craig first met while filming the critically-panned 2011 psychological thriller, Dream House. And after Weisz confirmed she’s set for her Broadway debut, it’s been speculated that the couple could storm the Great White Way together in Harold Pinter’s play, Betrayal.

While their professional relationship is public, Weisz says she plans to keep her lips sealed about their private life in part for the sake of their children.

She currently shares her son Henry, 6, with Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky and Craig shares daughter Ella, 20, with his ex-wife, actress Fiona Loudon.

“There are lots of people involved, including children who are getting older,” she explained. “And they didn’t choose to have us as parents. I genuinely just don’t think it’s very fair on them to have their parents talk about stuff.”

Though she’s nabbed many leading roles throughout her career, Oscar-winning Weisz doesn’t consider herself a typical Hollywood actress.

“Some of the material I’m attracted to is not… it’s just not commercial,” she admitted. “Which means it’s really f**king interesting, you know? It’s off-center. It doesn’t fit in a genre.”

There’s some serious movie magic going on behind the scenes of Disney’s upcoming film Oz The Great and Powerful.

To create a completely unique and immersive feel for Oz, director Sam Raimi employed two of Hollywood’s most respected creatives — costume designer Gary Jones and makeup artist Vivian Baker. Together the pair helped transform James Franco, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis and the rest of the cast for this highly-anticipated movie.

Both industry vets, Jones and Baker know a thing or two about using costumes and makeup to render some of Hollywood’s most-recognizable faces … well, unrecognizable for various roles. Jones has created the costumes for hit movies such as Spider-Man 2, Valentine’s Day and Georgia Rule, while Baker has handled makeup duties for Spider-Man 3 and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.

And now the two have joined their creative forces to transport readers to the newly-imagined Emerald City in Oz The Great and Powerful.

From the inspiration to the costumes and the makeup, Jones and Baker give us a behind-the-scenes look at how they were able to bring the film’s characters to life in the video above.

This week, fans excited about the March 2013 release of Sam Raimi‘s Oz The Great and Powerful got a little something to tempt them as four all-new teaser posters for the upcoming Disney film were released.

One of the posters features James Franco as the Wizard, while the others each sport a striking image of the three witches from the movie: Evanora, Glinda and Theodora — played by Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and Mila Kunis respectively.

Although the film is still over a month from release, buzz is building over this re-imagined look at the famed Emerald City, especially given the pedigree of Raimi, who proved he could more than handle big budget spectacle with The Amazing Spider-Man trilogy.

Disney released the images for the posters via their official Facebook page for the film.

Scarlett Johansson donned a fitted jacket and trousers to the premiere of her Broadway play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

The actress took a less traditional approach and went for the always-chic pantsuit look instead of a designer gown.

Johansson, who’s always been one to take fashion risks, paired the menswear-inspired look with classic pumps, bold turquoise earrings and a red lip on her famous pout.

Johansson knocked the look out of the park by honoring her hourglass figure with a waist-cinching jacket.

But what about the women of Oz The Great and Powerful?

The Disney film, which opens in theaters March 2013, also features a powerhouse female cast with the three of the hottest actresses in the business portraying the story’s famous witches.

Michelle Williams takes on Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, while Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz play Theodora and Evanora, the Wicked Witches of the West and East, respectively.

Franco, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.

Like Toto and Dorothy after him, James Franco‘s wannabe-wizard takes the Tornado Express from Kansas to Oz in the prequel Oz, the Great and Powerful, and, judging by the new trailer released Wednesday (and posted above), he’s in for one bewildering, beautiful, bizarre trip.

Unlike the film’s first trailer, released in July (and posted at the bottom of this article), the new promo shows off a lot more of the fantastic and frightening land of Oz, as well as a lot more of the three enchanting witches – Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams) — who snake-oil salesman Oscar Diggs (Franco) finds when his hot-air balloon is blown off course to the land over the rainbow.

The movie is directed by Sam Raimi, known for both the Spider-Man and Evil Dead trilogies. In Oz, as in those films, an unlikely hero finds himself in a world beset by monstrous villains, whom he must fight with powers he doesn’t initially realize he possesses.

As in the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, where Frank Morgan played the conman-turned-sorcerer, the Kansas scenes are in black-and-white, while the Oz scenes are in lush, dreamlike color. But the look of the new film, with its overstuffed, surreal visuals, seems to evoke instead Tim Burton‘s 2010 Alice in Wonderland, another tale of an earthly interloper who must save a fantasy land from dark magic.

That’s probably not a coincidence. Both films were produced by Joe Roth for Disney, and Oz has an early March release date, as Alice did, that should give it a couple of spring months all to itself. Alice wound up with more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office; no doubt Disney has similar lofty hopes for Oz, which hits theaters on March 8, 2013.

The Bourne Legacy hits theaters Friday — and it’s Bourne free.

After star Matt Damon bowed out of the blockbuster franchise, Jeremy Renner has taken over the leading role, stepping in to play medically enhanced, off-the-grid operative Aaron Cross in the spy series’ fourth film.

Renner is joined by a star-studded supporting cast, including Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, Scott Glenn and David Strathairn.

And the highly anticipated movie has a new helmer, too. After writing the screenplays for the first three installments — which have grossed almost $1 billion at the global box office — Tony Gilroy took the director’s chair to bring his Legacy screenplay to life.

So can the Bourne story continue to win over audiences sans Damon and its past directors?

While some critics applaud the high-energy, fast-paced installment, others criticize a film they claim doesn’t compare to its predecessors.

Here’s what the reviewers are saying:

The New York Times: “Mr. Gilroy cleverly handles some of the overlap between the new Bourne reality and the old…. While Mr. Gilroy retains some of the Bourne bequest, he’s also created a tricky parallel universe with a new agency that has its own clenched-jawed, closed-door complications and a hero who nearly becomes lost among them.”

The New Yorker: “The new movie continues the Bourne tradition of exciting, reality-based thrillers, but when the series lost its star, it lost most of its soul.”

The Hollywood Reporter: “At least as much as its predecessors, this is globe-trotting affair…features mostly familiar moves. With Gilroy’s regular cinematographer Robert Elswit behind the camera, the film looks first-rate, but the director backs down several notches from the radically amped-up approach to physicality established by Greengrass, to diminished returns.”

The New York Daily News: “He won’t erase any memories of Damon, but Renner’s turn is strong enough to stand on its own…while it was smart to bring in a first-tier actress as Bourne’s love interest, Weisz and Renner have so little chemistry that they seem less like a united team than a random mismatch. Once the pair is on the move, though, the action starts to feel swifter and more satisfying. Their high-pressure escape scenes, including one through a maze-like Manila, are all thrillingly true to the series’ spirit.”

Boston Globe: “What’s missing from Legacy is any emotional stake. Damon’s Jason Bourne—who’s alluded to in the new film but seen only in a newscast—was a James Bond hero in the throes of an existential identity crisis, and the actor let you feel the character’s confusion and anger. As enjoyable as he is to watch, Renner’s underwritten Cross doesn’t carry the same weight…. The best thing that can be said about The Bourne Legacy is that Renner will survive it.”

What would happen if Jason Bourne went head-to-head with Aaron Cross — the new lead character from the hit series?

“I’m a fan of Bourne, [but] I think Cross might have an edge on him,” actor Louis Ozawa Changchien, who plays LARX #3 in The Bourne Legacy, told Celebuzz.

“Personally, I think my character would kick all of their butts.”

Still, Changchien confessed Jeremy Renner — who stars as medically-enhanced spy agent Aaron Cross in the franchises’ fourth film, taking the lead from Matt Damon — was not easy to keep up with while shooting the stunt-filled action flick.

How did he prepare to go up against Renner on set?

“(Renner) would one up me, and then I’d try to one up him,” said Changchien, who’s best know for his role in 2010′s Predator. “Everyday was like that. If he’d run really fast, I’d tried to run as fast as I could, and vice versa.”

To get ready for the movie it took a lot of hard work, “a lot of swimming, a lot of running, a lot of lifting,” Changchien said.

When it came to warming up for the motorcycle scenes, “They would take us out to a track and we would ride around practicing slides on the motorcycle,” he recalled. “There were a few crashes!”

Even Rachel Weisz got in on the wheeling.

“Very first day, the stunt rider put her on the back of a bike and immediately started popping wheelies and endos and she just had to hold on for dear life. There’s nothing scarier than riding on the back of the bike. Like on the front, no problem. Back, I would never. What she does is actually really hard.”

And that wasn’t even the most fear-provoking feat on the cast tackled on the Philippines set.

“Running on the rooftops of Manila, that’s…scary,” Changchien said. “The rooftops are pretty rickety.”

But location had its perks.

“The people are just the warmest, friendliest people,” Changchien gushed of Filipinos. “It’s hot there…but the beaches are unbelievable. On our few days off, we got a chance to go to the beaches. I’ve never been to such beautiful beaches.”

The beautiful Rachel Weisz is the latest star wearing stars — and cover girl — for Lucky magazine! In the October issue, the newlywed gives some insight into her unusual shopping sprees, thoughts on having more children, and a very strong opinion on footwear.

In her interview, Rachel shares what really gets her in the shopping mood. “I do appreciate a good pan and a good knife,” says Weisz, who has spent little time shopping for clothes, and more time browsing around high-end cooking stores. Maybe it’s a newlywed thing?

While on the domestic subject, she shares her thoughts on having more children:

“Oh, I wouldn’t make one just for the sake of giving my son a sibling, but…you never know,” she says with a smile.

Sounds like a possibility in the future! While obviously Rachel is passionate about her cooking and her family, there is something else she says she finds life changing; a good pair of shoes.

“Shoes can turn you into someone else in an instant,” Weisz says. “I did a film called The Brothers Bloom, and I wore really clunky boots — and I was this eccentric weirdo,” she states. In The Whistleblower” — an independent film released this August where she plays a cop who exposes a European sex trafficking ring — “I wore police boots that made me walk tough.” And her latest: Dream House, a thriller opening in September: “I am a wife redoing a home we just bought, and I wore a lot of light sneakers that are all cute and homey and make me feel kind of doo-doo-doo, I’m domestic and painting.”

Newlywed Rachel Weisz was spotted outside the Today Show studios on Wednesday afternoon wearing a very girly frock, but we’re still not sure how we feel about it.
