Ahead of the show’s series finale this Thursday, the cast of The Office is saying goodbye to each other, to the show’s fans and to Scranton, PA. The video is a little on the long side, but definitely worth it for fans who’ve stuck with the show for eight years.

As NBC’s The Office approaches its series finale next year, it’s not just the fans who want Steve Carell to come back before the curtain falls for good.

“I hope he does [make an appearance],” Wilson told Celebuzz at the CNN Heroes event on Sunday in downtown Los Angeles.

But he stopped short of confirming if Michael Scott will come back to stir up the water cooler talk at Dunder Mifflin.

“I don’t know if he is,” Wilson added. “You have to talk to the powers that be. I’m just a lowly character actor.”

Carell, 50, left The Office in 2011 after eight seasons to focus on his movie career and his family.

Wilson even poked fun at himself on the serious night, which was hosted by CNN and Anderson Cooper, celebrating individuals who made extraordinary contributions to humanitarian aid over the past year.

“The real celebrities are the people making a difference in the world, not the people telling dumb jokes on stupid TV shows like myself,” said the 46-year-old actor.

The Office is currently in its ninth and final season. The series finale date is yet to be set.

After nine seasons, Dunder Mifflin is closing its doors.

Original Office showrunner Greg Daniels – who returned to the helm for Season 9 — broke the news Tuesday that this upcoming season will be the last for the popular NBC comedy.

“This year feels like the last chance to really go out together and to make an artistic ending to the show that pays off a lot of the stuff that has mattered most to fans with the core characters,” Daniels told a group of reporters. “This will be the last season of The Office. We’re planning a very big exciting last season.”

Bob Greenblatt, the Chairman NBC Entertainment, released the following statement to Celebuzz:

“The Office is a classic, award-winning television comedy and all of us at NBC couldn’t be prouder to have produced and telecast the series as it heads into its ninth season.  Greg Daniels, the cast, and crew have some terrific storylines planned for the final season. Fans are in for a treat.  It’s always difficult to see these kinds of shows come to an end, but we are honoring the cast’s and producers’ desire to make this the final season.”

Office star Angela Kinsey seemed to echoe Greenblatt’s sentiment, tweeting, “It is true. This is our last season. We hope to give a real end to these characters we love to play. Thx for watching.”

Daniels told reporters that he and the writers have big things in store for Jim (John Krasinski), Pam (Jenna Fischer) and the rest of the Dunder Mifflin gang — including some familiar faces.

“We’re going to Roy’s wedding,” he said. “David Wallace is running the show, the Dunder-Mifflin show. We have a lot of funny stories, we’re telling some crazy Dwight stories we’ve wanted to tell for years.” P

erhaps Dwight’s “crazy” storylines will be the perfect lead-in for the show’s anticipated spinoff, The Farm, which will center on Dwight’s life on his family’s beet farm.

However, the question on everyone’s mind is whether or not former Office star Steve Carell will reprise his role as Michael Scott.

“We would certainly wish for it,” Daniels said. “We’re not going to put so much pressure on Steve by writing something that could only work if he returned. But it would be fantastic if he returned.”

The Office kicks off its final season on Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

First Michael Scott, now Dwight Schrute?!

After Steve Carell exited The Office this past season, it appears as though Rainn Wilson will be following suit, because Deadline is reporting that NBC is developing a spinoff for the hit comedy. (Although, the series would not premiere until midseason 2013.) On the series, about a dysfunctional paper company, Rainn plays an eccentric salesman, who has a love for all things beets and Battlestar Galactica.

Dwight also has a tendency to fly off the handlebars when his co-worker Jim (John Krasinski) plays pranks on him — which is all the time. With news of Rainn’s possible spin-off, we thought we’d compile some of Dwight’s best moments.

After a bat was found in the vents of Dunder Mifflin, Dwight took it upon himself to exterminate the creature, but inadvertently trapped Meredith in a garbage bag — with the bat! And natch, hilarity ensues.

Dwight’s co-worker Jim left the Scranton office, and this is how he reacts.

And of course, the infamous “Jim impersonating Dwight” scene.

And lest we forget Dwight impersonating Jim.

Is there really room for two Mickey Rourkes in this world?

There was at last night’s Independent Spirit Awards, at least.

As part of the entertainment for the evening’s festivities, Office star Rainn Wilson donned a blond wig and green tights in homage to Rourke’s Randy “The Ram” Robinson role in The Wrestler (which scored Rourke a Best Male Lead award at last night’s Indys).

Oh, and the 43-year-old actor flashed a too-generous glimpse of pasty butt cheek while he was at it.

Hopefully Wilson didn’t continue to follow Rourke’s lead and maul everyone he could get his hands on afterward.

The evening’s festivities also included Desperate Housewives actress Teri Hatcher writhing seductively while gripping what appeared to be a dog collar. Though, truth be told, that might have just been her normal Saturday night routine.

Actress Angela Kinsey of NBC’s hit comedy The Office has split with her husband, writer Warren Lieberstein, according to Us.

“Angela and Warren are taking some time apart to ­figure out what is best for their relationship. They continue to be friends,” her rep says.

Kinsey and her husband were married for eight years. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Isabel, last May.

Kinsey, who plays the holier-than-thou, uptight account Angela Martin on the Golden Globe-winning NBC sitcom, will have a hard time avoiding thinking about her husband.

Warren’s brother, Paul Lieberstein, plays HR rep Toby Flenderson on the show. So things could be a little more awkward than usual at the Dunder-Mifflin office next season.

Kinsey’s Office character has been cheating on fiancé Andy (Ed Helms) with Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and it all recently came to light on the show.

So Angela’s romantic life is equally complicated on and off screen.

While Hollywood’s biggest night, the Academy Awards, isn’t for a few more weeks, the winners and nominees of Sunday evening’s Screen Actors Guild Awards got down at an exclusive (and insanely attended) after party.

People Magazine and Grey Goose Vodka sponsored the bold-name fest, that boasted superstar attendees like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

“They came and went very quickly,” an insider tells Celebuzz. “Brad stopped for a beer and a few hellos, then he and Angelina slipped out the back.”

While Brangie departed to tend to their brood, there were plenty of proud parents in the place. Alec Baldwin‘s daughter Ireland never left the Best Actor‘s side. The two worked the entire party tent next to the Shrine Auditorium as a pair, giggling and whispering to one another.

Meryl Streep also showed off her son and daughter to the room, only once ditching them to embrace Tina Fey in a massive hug. The actresses fussed over one another for a few moments, winners for their work in Doubt and 30 Rock, respectively.

Fey’s buddy Amy Poehler did a little partying with husband Will Arnett, deservedly so after winning her body back post-baby.

“Amy was indulging a bit, drinking and smoking,” the source said.

She wasn’t alone in revelry: Famous cast mates huddled together and let their hair down. From Entourage and 30 Rock to Slumdog Millionaire and The Office, a buzzing hive of busy actors enjoyed their coworkers and peers.

Big Mad Men winner Jon Hamm looked a bit aloof, however.  An onlooker dishes that Hamm spent most of his night alone drinking and smoking in a corner. Hamm walked the red carpet with wife Jennifer Westfeldt, but she was nowhere to be seen at the bash.

Other couples held court, however, like Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Jerry “Turtle” Ferrera,  Ugly Betty star America Ferrera (no relation) and Ryan Piers Williams, a stunning Claire Danes and her thesp beau Hugh Dancy, Jeremy Piven and a young blonde as well as Harvey Weinstein and bride Georgina Chapman.

And while all these matches no doubt thrill, our favorite shmooze-crew happened backstage at the awards telecast, where spies tell us Sean Penn and Josh Brolin puffed on cigarettes while chatting with Katie Holmes.

While Katie’s most recently been on Broadway’s clock, clearly she’s a Hollywood girl at heart.
