With an impressive career resume that consists of record-breaking albums, chart-topping songs, her own documentary and that recent killer Super Bowl performance under her belt, there’s no denying the inspiration she provides for her famous peers.

When it comes influence, in the world of cover songs, Bey reigns supreme. From country crooners to indie rockers, the 31-year-old transcends all musical genres.

Late last week, The xx released their rendition of “I Miss You,” a ballad off Beyonce’s 2011 album, 4. The indie rock group put a haunting vibe to the mid-tempo tune during a performance on Austin City Limits.

“I Miss You” is just one of Bey’s many tunes to earn a cover from various singers and bands throughout the years. With choices ranging from “Single Ladies” to “Irreplaceable,” artists have gone “Crazy in Love,” so to speak, for some of Beyonce’s greatest hits.

From singers like Florence Welsh to The X Factor‘s Carly Rose Sonenclar — they’ve all taken a try at a Beyonce tune and garnered rave reviews from audiences and critics alike.

We’ve compiled just a few of our favorite Beyonce renditions throughout the years. Watch the videos, and click through the gallery to learn more about each cover!

Now, the sky-rocketing success of her past 12 months has earned the pop star Billboard‘s Woman of the Year honor.

“Katy Perry broke into the industry not even five years ago, and has already accomplished more than most artists can hope for in an entire career,” Billboard‘s editorial director Bill Werde said in a statement. “We are thrilled to celebrate these incredible achievements and her amazing past 12 months by presenting her with the Billboard Woman of the Year Award.”

What catapulted Perry to the crown?

With her Teenage Dream album — which she repackaged with new tracks “Part of Me” and “Wide Awake” into another release, Complete Confection — Perry set music industry records; thanks to chart-topping hits like “Firework” and “California Gurls,” the singer became the only woman in history to score five Hot 100 No. 1s from a single album.

After a year that also landed her at No. 8 on Forbes‘s Celebrity 100 list and earned her several MTV VMA nods, Perry will be honored at the Billboard Women in the Music ceremony in November.

The Woman of the Year title pays tribute the achievements of a trailblazing female artist, acknowledging both her musical triumphs and her leadership in an ever-changing industry. So what other women have earned this mark of distinction?

Perry is following in the footsteps of past honorees like Taylor Swift, Fergie and Beyonce. Celebuzz is looking back at these women and the success that landed them Billboard’s honorary title.

Peek at the gallery and weigh in below: Which musician most deserved the title?

Mirroring the Reba show in premise, this four-camera comedy comes at a time when showrunner Kevin Abbott thinks the genre is simply “hibernating,” ready to make a full-force comeback. Naturally, the star power of Reba will help with that!

What does Reba have to say about her new sitcom?

“Basically what we really are trying to show are the differences between Nashville and Malibu,” Reba told Celebuzz when we caught up with her at the Paley Center for Media’s ABC fall preview event this week.

“We are fish out of water, and my mom and I — played by Lily Tomlin — we’re trying to adjust and make sure the kids are as grounded as they can be,” she continued.

On the show, Reba is playing mom to teenagers (Justin Prentice and Juliette Angelo), and already in the pilot episode she runs into trouble when she finds her daughter making out with her next door neighbor’s kid. The show will pull from her life in all kinds of ways, including the adjustment period of entering a new town — and a new industry.

“We really dealt with this a lot when I first came to Los Angeles to shoot the Reba TV show, and I had an 11-year-old son who had to deal with all of this change from Nashville. I think it made him a stronger person, so I think we’re going to be using that, also,” Reba said.

Whether or not her now-grown son likes the idea of his adolescence retold on television, though, Reba just smirked that she’s “not going to tell him.”

The character of Reba in Malibu Country is a woman who gave up her own future in the music industry to see her husband succeed in that area, but now that she is older, wiser, and has kicked him to the curb for cheating on her, she’s giving it a go again. But as an artist herself, Reba doesn’t want to play a woman who succeeds right away. Where’s the fun in that, right? Comedy comes from shortcomings.

“Like when there are romances on a show, do you ever want to see them get married? No. It’s the struggle, the getting there,” Reba equated. “I asked my daddy one time — he was a world champion cowboy — I asked, ‘What was the best part: winning the championship, getting that buckle and that saddle, or the getting there?’ He said, ‘The getting there.’ That’s what we’re always trying to do — to keep that steady struggle going.”

And as she attempts to crack the door open, she will be tinkering around with music, so there will be ample opportunity to hear McEntire sing on the series.

“I want to sing a lot, because my fans would really want to see that and hear that. We’re working on songs. We [already] recorded a couple that are going to be on the TV show,” she revealed.

Though it is still early on in Malibu Country’s process and the emphasis is heavily on the family dynamic, Reba wouldn’t rule out a key potential guest star in her friend and fellow musician Kelly Clarkson who has talked a lot in the media about wanting to hang out on the Malibu Country set.

“She’s been so busy, and we’re just now starting [production], but she knows she has an open invitation any time she wants to come on,” Reba revealed.

Malibu Country premieres on ABC on November 2 at 8:30 PM.

Are you excited to see Reba back on sitcom television? Sound off in the comments below with what you hope to hear her sing on-screen!

Though airing on different nights, both are family comedies featuring multiple generations of characters in order to bring in wider demographics. And both see the returns of sitcom veterans and strong female actors in Jami Gertz and McEntire.

To celebrate these new shows, ABC brought select cast members and executive producers of the series to the Paley Center for Media’s Fall TV Preview panel in Beverly Hills on Tuesday.

Read on to see what each show is about and what Celebuzz thought was the best series scoop revealed.

“I was ready to return the day the Reba show got canceled. I absolutely love television. I love the format; I love the rehearsal schedule; I love getting to be on stage with talented people who write for us and who you get to act with. I absolutely love this format, and I’m having such a great time with it,” McEntire addressed the audience about her new series.

On Malibu Country, McEntire doesn’t stand by her (cheating) man and instead takes her two teenage kids and her pot-lollipop-sucking mom (Lily Tomlin) across the country from Nashville to Malibu, where they all have to adjust to the differences in mind sets and ways of life. With a kooky, antagonistic neighbor (Sara Rue), Malibu Country certainly has shades of Reba, and considering it comes from Kevin Abbott, who has worked with McEntire for years, it’s not unintentional.

“I’ve been in the business for a while, and she is my favorite performer, star; she is just the best person to work with ever. I’m sorry, she just is. Even if I hated the concept [of the show]. I would have signed on for it because it really kind of mirrored Reba’s experiences, and I’d heard her tell these tales over the years, and I thought, ‘There’s a lot of material to work with’,” Abbott said.

Having only shot the pilot so far, Abbott went on to note that to fit the theme of the panel, Malibu Country, when you strip it down, does deal with “a totally alien culture.”

“I want to make sure that adults are also intrigued by the stories that we’re telling. I want them to be engaged; I want them to be a part of the experience,” Abbott, who admitted he “does not like the branding of TGIF,” plans to mimic the Roseanne style of “honest” storytelling.

“When I had two and three-year-old daughters, it was nice to be able to have a show they could watch, but that is not the show we’re doing. I’ve got Lily Tomlin; she’s stoned right now!”

The alien in Malibu Country, though? The entire panel agreed it would be Rue’s Kim. But Rue, herself, did want to add that she sees the character as grounded in her own way.

“I think of her more as lonely. She doesn’t have a job; she doesn’t really have a lot friends, so when Reba moves next door, it’s kind of the highest society thing to happen to her in a while. She just wants to be a part of it so bad. Keep in mind, I did watch a lot of The Real Housewives of Orange County for this character, in order to prepare for it [though],” she laughed.

The Neighbors, on the other hand, takes the “alien” part of its story extremely literally, despite starting from a very real, very simple place.

“My mom lived in a condo development in New Jersey… where the next door neighbor’s house was so close you could read out the bathroom window and touch your neighbors, but she never really talked to them… So I started thinking about who are these people my mom is living between?” Series creator Dan Fogelman explained.

The aliens in The Neighbors right now are teases — seeing pieces of them here and there and simple effects like green CGI slime for their ear-tears — but as the series goes on Fogelman is playing with animation to get more involved in the world and the rules of the aliens.

For any potential audience members who may have a hard time wrapping their head around aliens on primetime television in 2012, Gertz compared the essential differences between the families as simply being people who “don’t know our ways.”

“I look at it as they’re from another country, and they don’t know our ways; they don’t know how we do things as Americans. We feel we have fresh meat. These are neighbors we can mold and create into perfect neighbors, and it’s fabulous!”

Gertz shares this view with her on-screen persona Debbie Weaver, who actually says having such blank slates to teach “makes me feel like Oprah.”

As The Neighbors develops over the season, though, the Weavers will be taught the same amount — if not more — than they hope to teach. In a particularly memorable episode, Fogelman shared, the show will explore the differences between human and alien intimacy. And the title of that episode? Perfect for the times: “50 Shades of Green.”

The Neighbors premieres on ABC on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 9:30 PM, while Malibu Country premieres on ABC on Friday, Nov. 2 at 8:30 PM.
