In Rock of Ages, Tom Cruise belts several ’80s hits including Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is” — and the British-American rock band admits they were taken aback when they first heard the news.

“It’s a little bizarre having [Cruise] singing our music,” the band’s guitarist Mick Jones told Celebuzz.

“But whatever he does, he puts one hundred percent into it.”

In the film, Cruise, 49, plays fictitious character “Stacce Jaxx,” an aging rocker who is tasked with saving Hollywood nightspot Bourbon Room from closing down.

Although Cruise sought vocal training, the Foreigner guitarist had hoped he’d reach out to them.

“I was available, but he didn’t call,” Jones reveals.

But after watching the screening, Jones was pleased with how much heart and soul Cruise poured into the song.

“He’s great!” he added.

Rock of Ages also stars Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand.

Tom Cruise had a secret partner-in-crime along for the ride during vocal preparation for his role in Rock of Ages: His daughter Suri Cruise.

According to the 49-year-old actor’s vocal coach Ron Anderson, the father-daughter duo spent a lot of time together during the training, as the adorable 6-year-old fashionista intently watched her dad rock out.

“Suri is so cute and sweet,” Anderson told Celebuzz. “She would sit down and listen to the lessons and be in there with us.”

Could Suri be the next big pop star?

Cruise and Katie Holmes‘ daughter seemed “very interested” in her father’s work, but didn’t try to steal the spotlight from her doting dad, Anderson recalled.

“Suri never really tried to sing… [but] it’s a possibility that she’ll be knocking on my door someday,” said Anderson.

The former Axl Rose vocal coach has worked with many actors, including Mark Wahlberg in Rockstar, but he said Cruise was unlike anyone he’s ever done business with.

“He is very diligent [and] has tunnel vision,” he said of Cruise’s focus during training.

“The concentration, the dedication to the technical skill, all of it was pretty amazing. I’ve not been around anyone like that before.”

Rock of Ages also stars Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand.

Rock of Ages‘ star-studded cast was out in full force in Los Angeles this Friday for highly anticipated flick’s big premiere.

The impressive lineup — which included Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, and Alec Baldwin — were front and center on the red carpet at Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

However, Rock of Ages’ debut brought out a slew of celebrity rock fans as well.

Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale were also there to check out the festivities. Dressed in coordinating blue outfits, the High School Musical co-stars were all smiles as they posed together for photographers.

Meanwhile, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie and her husband Josh Duhamel — appropriately dressed as a member from an 80s hair band — were snapped goofing off on the carpet.

Rock of Ages is based on the hit Broadway musical of the same name. The movie is set to hit theaters on June 15.

The 49-year-old actor completely transformed himself for the movie with long, shaggy hair and tons of tats.

The big screen adaptation of Rock of Ages follows a high successful run of the musical on Broadway, which stared former American Idol contestant Constantine Maroulis. He was even nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the lead role of Drew.

The film version is directed by So You Think You Can Dance judge Adam Shankman, who also directed Hairspray and Glee.

Jennifer Aniston‘s boyfriend Justin Theroux wrote the screenplay.

The 49-year-old Hollywood A-lister sheds his shirt and applies the guy-liner for his new role as a rock star in the Broadway musical turned movie Rock of Ages.

W magazine provided Celebuzz an exclusive first look of their photo shoot with Tom, husband of Katie Holmes, who posed in character as Stacee Jaxx alongside some sexy scantily-clad blondes.

Sporting huge tattoos, six-pack abs and low-cut jeans, the actor is smoldering with sexuality in the image. He said of his chic magnet role:

“I knew we had to push the sexuality because of the nature of the character and the songs. He’s singing, ‘I want to know what love is.’”

Cruise’s Rock of Ages — also starring Malin Akerman, Julianne Hough, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand — hits theaters on June 15. Here’s the trailer:

Like father, like daughter! While Suri Cruise‘s dad Tom has been spending the summer filming Rock of Ages, it’s been announced that his little girl will also be joining the musical!

Both In Touch Magazine and Broadway.com are claiming that the Hollywood heir will make her onscreen debut in her dad’s movie but no word yet as to what her part will be. What do you think about Suri getting into acting so early? Sound off in the comments section!

Suri and her mom Katie Holmes are no strangers to the Rock of Ages set as they’ve been spending time in Miami all summer. 

This past weekend, Katie and 5-year-old Suri donned cute bikinis at Tom’s surprise party. Throughout the day, Suri sported face paint as she played with a beach ball and swam in the pool. Katie showed off her noticeably slimmer frame and flat stomach in her navy bikini. According to a People source, “Katie planned everything herself” and “wanted to be sure everything was just right” for Cruise’s birthday party. Cruise’s three kids – Suri, Connor and Isabella – were all there to celebrate, along with 40 close friends.

It seems Tom Cruise might have been a little anxious about his performance in Rock of Ages. The award-winning actor turned to none other than rock-n-roll legend Jon Bon Jovi for advice on how to work the stage. 

“He and I actually went out and he was very intense about ‘how do you do this?’” the music veteran tells Extra. “I said, ‘Relax man, you’re Tom Cruise, you can learn how to sing a song, don’t worry about it!’”

Pop star meets faux rock star! Katy Perry took time off from her hectic schedule to see her man Russell Brand in action on the set of his musical movie Rock of Ages!

Russell was in costume as he walked the set hand-in-hand with his wife. We’re glad these two were able to spend some quality time together seeing as their jobs have been keeping them pretty busy. 

Back in May, we found Katy in Japan on her on her California Dreams tour, but her hubby was unfortunately not in tow. Per the pop star’s Twitter, she had brought her hubby along for the fun, but he was quickly deported due to some criminal charges against him from about 10 years prior. Following the news, Katy tweeted in May some fiesty hastags:

Russell Brand is on the set of Rock of Ages where he dares to ask the question: “Does reality even matter?”

That question was tweeted out and included a pic of the funnyman and his new costar Alec Baldwin. The new pics show Russell heading onto set in Miami, Florida. Russell is to play the role of Lonnie in the ’80s rock musical! When he’s not filming alongside the likes of Alec, Julianne Hough and Tom Cruise, we’ve seen Russell hitting the beach and the waves!

This past May, the Arthur star was spotted wearing skimpy tighty-whities at a pool in Miami. The British funnyman strutted his stuff around the water with a gray towel elegantly draped over one shoulder. Check out the pics below!

But the shenanigans didn’t stop there! Katy Perry‘s hubby was also snapped riding a tortoise! Russell visited Jungle Island while on his trip to Miami, hitting up the Miami Wildlife Park and having a grand old time with a lemur, a giant tortoise, a snake and a penguin.

Watch out for Julianne Hough. She’s gone from Dancing with the Stars champ (twice) to country singer to actress — and while she’s always been a “knockout,” now she’s ready to bring the smackdown!

The 22-year-old proved she’s ready to rumble as she punched it out on some rocks overlooking the beach in Miami, Florida, with her trainer. The gut-busting workout was followed by a jog back home.

The intense training could very well be preparation for her upcoming role in Rock of Ages, in which she will use all her skills to act, dance and sing alongside some Hollywood heavyweights. In the meantime, she’s been busy buddying up to some of her castmates, including newcomer Diego Boneta – and we don’t blame her for getting close to this hottie. Julianne and the Broadway star have been spotted out together for dinner and a movie while in Miami, where Tom Cruise and the entire Rock gang has gathered to get pre-production underway.

Should her boyfriend be jealous of her time with her newfound friend? Doubt it! Ryan actually joined Julianne in the sunny city just a few weeks ago. 

Yay! Diego Boneta has been cast alongside Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin in the upcoming film Rock of Ages. 

Okay, this might not be a total surprise since last week he was the big frontrunner, but there was some discrepency whether or not Diego got the part after Adam Shankman tweeted Boneta wasn’t cast, but simply auditioned.

However, a rep for Diego now confirms to Celebuzz that he got the lead role.

You probably recognize Boneta from 90210 or Pretty Little Liars, but this will definitely be the young hunk’s breakout movie for sure.
