It sounds like a good old-fashioned, action-packed western! The week we have an A-lister who sabotaged his newest flop and an actress that is getting harassed by her co-star.

Press Pass:

This A list (and it pains me to call him A list) movie actor was doing press work for his latest flop. Instead of doing what he could to try and get a few people to see it by being nice to the press, he berated them constantly, would not answer their questions and was as miserable as a person can be. He also made several interviews unusable by his actions which made the whole process a waste for at least one network. (Crazy Days and Nights)

Our guess: Russell Crowe.

Star-On-Star Hate:

A certain actress is feeling very uncomfortable on the set of her new television series. One of the actors has been behaving inappropriately around her. He has made comments about her appearance (e.g. the size and shape of her body) that she was able to ignore at first. However, the comments have escalated to the point that it is interfering with her ability to maintain composure on the set. What is she doing about this? Nothing. The actor is a friend of either the director or the producer, so she fears that if she was to complain that they would side with the man, and possibly replace her on the show. (Blind Gossip)

Our guess: No idea, but the actress should give this guy a good swift kick on the bum.

The notoriously quick-tempered actor reaffirmed his hot-headed nature on Thursday, snapping at a reporter and storming out during an interview to promote his new film Robin Hood. Crowe got ticked off when the BBC’s Mark Lawson asked if he had intended to adopt an Irish accent for the film, which prompted the following reply from the New Zealand-born actor: 

“You’ve got dead ears, mate—seriously dead ears if you think there’s an Irish accent.”

Then asked if he was going for a Northern English accent instead, Crowe snapped, 

“No I was going for an Italian … missed it? F*ck me.”

But the final straw for Crowe was when Lawson probed the actor about his alleged reluctance to repeat his famous Gladiator line, “I’ll take my revenge in this life or the next.” That was enough to send Crowe storming out of the room, muttering,

“I don’t get the Irish thing by the way. I don’t get it at all.”

Well, it seems that Crowe’s temper is certainly Irish, if not his accent.

The Russell Crowe/Cate Blanchett film Robin Hood had its premiere at the Palais De Festivals on Wednesday as part of the 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival. The unveiling of the man-in-tights epic drew not just Crowe and Blanchett, but such luminaries as Kate Beckinsale, Benicio Del Toro, Eva Longoria Parker, Tim Burton and Salma Hayek.

The new look is a dramatic departure from past depictions of the fabled wealth re-distributor. For one thing, the 45-year-old actor sports a Caesar haircut instead of the traditional longer locks.

Crowe has dropped more than some hair for the part. Earlier reports indicated that he was struggling to drop the weight that he’d gained for Body of Lies, and that Sienna Miller had been ousted from the role of Maid Marion because her slim physique accentuated Crowe’s added bulk.

But from the looks of things, Crowe managed to trim down in time for shooting.

Of course, it helps that Crowe doesn’t have to squeeze himself into a pair of tights.

“He doesn’t have the old Robin Hood tights,” the movie’s producer, Brian Grazer, tells USA Today. “He’s got armor. He’s very medieval. He looks, if anything, more like he did in Gladiator than anything we’re used to seeing with Robin Hood.”

After the 28-year-old singer performed at the KISS Country Chili Cookoff in Pembroke Pines, Florida, last Sunday, her curvy figure set off a media storm that has caused other celebrities to, er, weigh in on the matter.

It could be argued that male actors Vince Vaughn and Russell Crowe have also packed on the pounds over the years they’ve been in the limelight. But it’s been to little fanfare.

Vaughn, 38, even carried the hit film Four Christmases to a hefty box office take of $120 million over the holidays.

And yet, when pop star Christina Aguilera put on a few pounds during her Stripped tour in 2003, or Britney Spears appeared onstage at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards not looking like a stick figure, critics took exceptional notice.

As well, when Kate Winslet actually slimmed down and appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair recently, British tabloids claimed the photos had been Photoshopped.

The Daily Mail reports that Sienna Miller has been dumped from the upcoming Ridley Scott-directed Robin Hood flick Nottingham, because she’d make Crowe, 44, look pudgy in comparison. (Miller, 27, had been slated to play Maid Marian in the film.)

Crowe, who is set to appear as the Sheriff of Nottingham, packed on several pounds for his role in the recent flop thriller Body of Lies. Since then, he’s been trying in vain to shed the extra weight for the Nottingham movie.

Guess he’s found a diet that suits him—just cut skinny actresses out of your life!

“It is a mess,” says an insider. “The love scenes between [Russell] and Sienna would have been laughable. He’s so old and fat and she’s so young and gorgeous.”

Producers are now reportedly “looking for an older, plumper actress to play the role so Crowe doesn’t look like a paunchy grandpa. Someone in her late 30s or early 40s.”

This isn’t the only role that Miller has lost recently due to male insecurity.  She was due to star in the upcoming Guy Ritchie-directed Sherlock Holmes until her former boyfriend Jude Law signed on for the cast.

And she hasn’t done much to win hearts and minds with her relationship to married actor Balthazar Getty either.

Luckily, Sienna has another skill to fall back on if she’s entirely cut off from the film industry—suing tabloids who publish her picture when she takes her top off.

Crowe and a friend (or strict trainer) got their ride on with some healthy biking.

The Body of Lies star gained upwards of 60 lbs for his role in the CIA drama, and has seemed to have difficult shedding it.

He’s currently in post-production for the political thriller State of Play with Ben Affleck (where his journalist character obviously didn’t have any nude scenes) and is getting ready to start filming his dual roles in the Robin Hood movie Nottingham with director Ridley Scott.

Robin Hood is a classical character of derring-do so Scott must be on Crowe like white on rice about losing that extra 60 lbs. so he can rob from the rich and give to the poor in Sherwood Forest.

Hence the biking.

That bakery he was frequenting is going to go under.

Crowe, 44, replaced Brad Pitt for the lead role in State of Play, which will add another political thriller to the Academy Award-winner’s credits. The film, an adaptation of a 2003 British miniseries, also stars Rachel McAdams and Helen Mirren.

Crowe put on an extra spare tire for his part as a stay-at-home spy opposite lean Leonardo DiCaprio in Body of Lies.

Seemingly, Russell has been in no hurry to shed the show weight.  But if he keeps lifting those kids over his head every day, after a few years he’ll have a very vigorous workout program.  Especially if he gives Charles and Tenyson a couple more siblings.

And his physique will be back to his Gladiator glory days.

Moviefone reports that Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio‘s terrorism thriller, Body of Lies, was crapped on at the box office by Beverly Hills Chihuahua, which retained its Number One status for the second weekend in a row.

The Crowe-DiCaprio flick, released on Friday, took in $13.1 million, compared to Chihuahua‘s  $17.5 million.

¡Ay yi yi! No wonder Crowe has resorted to buying CDs off a guy on the street.

DiCaprio may have to cut back on his consumer habits too. But hey; at least he has a pretty nice shoulder to cry on.

Looks as though Crowe is still attached to the bulk from his own newest bundle of joy, the forthcoming Body of Lies costarring Leonardo DiCaprio.

The Aussie actor was snapped leaving a hotel in New York sporting a Tony Soprano-style running suit, with some grizzly stubble and a full face.

Hopefully (for everyone), he’ll slim down for his next big-screen turn, doing double duty as both Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Race you to the green tights, Russell.

They first met on the set of The Quick and the Dead and both managed to fight off the wiles of Ms. Sharon Stone.

We know this because USA Today reports that Crowe thinks DiCaprio still had his v-card while he was making the movie. Gee thanks, Russ.

Crowe claims that DiCaprio has since developed a taste for “beautiful lasses.” Yeah, we know.

Crowe also kept playing a running joke on DiCaprio, in which he would sneeze and then spray mist from an atomizer on DiCaprio when he was in the makeup chair.

Crowe’s really taking over the role—and the appearance—as jolly comedy guy lately.

The recently plumped up actor has signed on to play the legendary thief Robin Hood in Ridley Scott‘s new movie, Nottingham.

Perhaps he’s taking theivery too seriously by supporting music piracy? Or maybe he’s just supporting a struggling musician…

Wonder what plastic surgery addict ex, Meg Ryan, would have to say about the gladiator’s taste in music.

The versatile Crowe will be doing double duty as Robin Hood and his arch-nemesis, the Sherrif of Nottingham.

“He’s playing both!” director Scott exclaimed. “A good old clever adjustment of characters. One becomes the other. It changes.”

Crowe definitely has the chops (and then some lately) to pull off the psychodrama of playing two sides of the “robs from the rich to give to the poor” coin.

And this announcement comes on the heels of a Crowe revival.

He has a new movie out with director Scott, Body of Lies, and ex-lover Meg Ryan has recently been spilling details of their affair in 2000.

Any publicity is good publicity.
