Michael Vick, the NFL player who served 19 months in prison for running a dog fighting ring back in 2007, is back in the headlines again.

TMZ reports that Vick was spotted at dog training classes with his new pooch.

Should Vick be allowed to have a dog, and will he get himself into trouble again?

“From a legal perspective, when Vick was released from prison, they gave him probation, and he couldn’t have a dog,” according to Ryan Smith of HLN’s Evening Express. When that probation expired in May of last year, however, “he was free to get whatever he wanted.”

Vick’s new dog is a Belgian Malinois, known for their fighting potential and frequently used by military and police personnel.

Vick has defended his dog ownership, saying that this will help his rehabilitation, and that his kids wanted a puppy.

Once “you kill a dog, you don’t get to own another dog,” argues Smith. “The law lets him have one but, in this case, our laws need to change.”

Did Chris Brown lie about completing his community service?

The singer appeared at the Grammy Awards on Sunday wearing all white and was seen snuggling with girlfriend, Rihanna.

The Grammys capped off a rough week for Brown who was accused by the Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney of lying about completing his court-ordered community service and then crashing his car in Beverly Hills following a paparazzi car chase.

Celebuzz spoke with HLN Evening Express anchor, Ryan Smith, to get his opinion on the latest happenings with Brown and whether he believes the singer lied about his community service.

According to Smith, “we can’t know for sure” whether Brown lied because even if he did not fully complete his community service, it might not necessarily be his fault.

“County officials tried to bend over backwards for a star. This was an unusual deal; usually if you plead guilty in one place, you serve that time in that place, but they let him serve it in Richmond, Virginia.”

Brown and his lawyers claim that they have statements asserting that Brown completed his community service, therefore, “unless prosecutors have concrete proof, he’s going to get off, and they will have learned a big lesson: don’t give special treatment to stars.”

You would think that the ongoing Lindsay Lohan debacle would have taught them something.

On April 5, Brown will be back in court. And if he loses, he will have to serve all 1400 hours of his time again.

Casey Anthony is looking for a second chance on life after filing for bankruptcy protection earlier this week.

Anthony, 26, has found herself in a financial hole after spending years fighting charges that she murdered her daughter, Caylee Anthony. The two-year-old’s remains were found in a trash bag near the family’s home in December 2008. Anthony was charged for the murder, but later acquitted. However, she was found guilty on multiple counts of lying to investigators.

With several lawsuits piling up, $800,000 of debt and unable to find a job, Anthony is reportedly accepting help from friends to keep afloat.

HLN’s Ryan Smith believes that Anthony could receive a new lease on life from this situation. “The bankruptcy court will look at her case,” Smith says. “And they’ll try and figure out how we can work this out so we can pay off some of these debts.”

Smith says he thinks there’s more to be learned about Caylee’s whereabouts and that she should be held accountable for certain things. However, he sees the situation ending a little differently, “If these bankruptcy proceedings go forward and it goes as planned, you’re looking at a very high chance that Casey Anthony walks free and clean.”

How many trips to rehab is too many?

On Dec. 10, Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife, Brooke Mueller, reportedly entered a rehab facility for her 19th time. The latest trip to rehab follows a hospitalization last week for what her rep initially described as ”exhaustion and dehydration.”

Mueller’s attorney, Yale Galanter, has since acknowledged that the star is battling an addiction to Adderall, often used for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy.

“Brooke was uncomfortable with the way Adderall was making her behave,” Galanter said in an interview on Dec. 11.

Mueller remains on probation in Utah for felony drug possession stemming from a cocaine bust in Dec. 2011.

So, what should happen next? Celebuzz turned to HLN Evening Express anchor, Ryan Smith, to weigh in.

“The key is to focus on rehab,” says Smith. “The most important aspect in her life should be her kids and she can’t be there for them unless she gets her life in order.”

Mueller will be leaving rehab to reunite with her 3-year-old twin boys — who have been under the care of Sheen’s other ex-wife Denise Richards — just in time for the holidays.

“She will be out of treatment on Sunday,” Mueller’s assistant, Mallory Knighton, told E! Online. “She is doing very well.”

Should Mueller lose custody of the kids?

The L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services reportedly searched Mueller’s house for six hours and talked to the twin boys, Bob and Max, but the search didn’t turn up anything of substance.

“I’m the last person that wants to take children away from their mother, but in this case, yes. She’s not protecting or advancing these children by continuing to use substances that can harm her,” says Smith. “It’s tough to say who the kids would be better off with. Whether it’s Brooke Mueller or Charlie Sheen, I know they both have their issues, I would like somebody to jump in to make sure that despite everything that’s going on with them that the kids are safe.”

“The kids come number one because that’s what really matters.”

The latest drama involving Mueller started on Dec. 7 when her assistant called paramedics after finding her passed out and unresponsive.

Mueller was rushed to the hospital, where she was said to be treated for exhaustion and dehydration, according to her publicist.

“As a precaution, Brooke was brought to a local hospital and discharged after an hour. She was diagnosed with exhaustion and dehydration and is now fine and resting at home. That’s it,” her rep insisted.

Do you blame Sesame Street for not taking quicker action against Elmo puppeteer, Kevin Clash?

“A little bit of yes and a little bit of no,” said HLN Evening Express anchor Ryan Smith.

In an exclusive report for Celebuzz, Smith says he thinks Sesame Street should have acted swiftly against the 52-year-old puppeteer who was recently hit with claims from three young men who allege they were sexually involved with Clash while they were underage.

Although Clash denied the accusations, he reached a settlement to pay the first accuser $125,000 if he would recant the story. Two other accusers have since come forward, each filing suit in court, with the second accuser seeking $5 million.

Amid these new allegations, Clash resigned on Nov. 20 as the voice of Elmo — a role he took on more than two decades ago — and has vowed to defend himself vigorously.

Sesame Street released a statement following Clash’s resignation saying, “Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding Kevin’s personal life has become a distraction that none of us want, and he has concluded that he can no longer be effective in his job and has resigned from Sesame Street. This is a sad day for Sesame Street.”

Whether or not Sesame Street should have fired Clash before his resignation is really just a matter of debate, but Smith said he could have responded with a faster response.

“When the second accuser came forward and gave these kinds of allegations, Kevin Clash didn’t deny it immediately.

“You’ve got a man who’s working with children every single day influencing their lives and he apparently has people coming forward talking about this kind of underage abuse. At that point, as Sesame Street, you have to let him go.

“Maybe not after the first accuser came forward and that person recanted, but after others come forward you have to act swiftly, and they did not do that, he resigned,” Smith concluded.

Kevin Clash, the former voice of Elmo on Sesame Street, recently resigned from his role on the show amid allegations that he engaged in sexual activity with multiple underage boys.

The first accuser, Sheldon Stephens, 23, alleges that he had a relationship with Clash, 52, when he was just 16 years old. Stephens and Clash have since reached a settlement in which the accuser would receive $125,000, as well as recant his story. He was reportedly reluctant to sign and has expressed regret in settling the case.

Since news of that first suit, Clash has been hit with two more suits. The second accuser, Cecil Singleton, says that he met Clash on a gay telephone chat line in 2003 when he was 15 and Clash was 42. He is demanding more than $5 million in his suit.

A third accuser, who wishes to go by “John Doe,” is also claiming to have had a sexual relationship with Clash when he was 16 years old and Clash was 40.

Clash became a puppeteer with “Sesame Street” in 1984 and for more than two decades was famous for his role as the voice behind the beloved Elmo character. He resigned on Nov. 20 with a “very heavy heart,” saying in a statement, “Personal matters have diverted attention away from the important work Sesame Street is doing and I cannot allow it to go on any longer. I am deeply sorry to be leaving and am looking forward to resolving these personal matters privately.”

Sesame Workshop released their own statement following Clash’s resignation, “Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding Kevin’s personal life has become a distraction that none of us want, and he has concluded that he can no longer be effective in his job and has resigned from Sesame Street. This is a sad day for Sesame Street.”

As the story continues to unfold in the abuse case involving Modern Family star Ariel Winter, Celebuzz turns to HLN’s Evening Express host Ryan Smith for insight into whether the judge was right in granting Ariel’s sister temporary guardianship.

On Oct. 3, court papers were filed on behalf of the 14-year-old actress against her mother, Chris Workman, alleging “ongoing physical abuse (slapping, hitting, pushing) and emotional abuse (vile name-calling, personal insults about minor and minor’s weight, attempts to ‘sexualize’ minor, deprivation of food, etc.) for an extended period of time.” Just three days later, Workman filed her own paperwork claiming that “she walked in the guest bedroom of her home and found her daughter, Ariel Winter Workman, in bed with boyfriend, [Name Redacted].”

Workman talked to Celebuzz about the allegations saying, “I filed charges against him because legally he is an adult and if he wants to engage in adult behavior with a minor than he should also be ready to suffer adult consequences for his actions and poor judgment.”

“I will not apologize for protecting my daughter, as she means the world to me and I will always be there for her and I will always protect her to the best of my ability until the day I die.”

Following these allegations, Winter was placed in the temporary guardianship of her 34-year-old sister, Shanelle Gray. An attorney for Gray has since told Los Angeles Superior Court judge Michael Levanas that Workman was a “terror on the set” of Modern Family. “The producers and others there have expressed grave concern.” The cast and crew behind the ABC hit series have declined to make an official statement since news of the on-going case made headlines.

So, was the judge right in granting Ariel’s sister temporary guardianship? “Temporary custody is given for good cause, and good cause includes things like physical and mental abuse,” Evening Express host Ryan Smith tells Celebuzz. “The judge was probably right to grant that.”

As for whether Gray was the right choice to be the guardian, Ryan says that she was the logical choice given that Ariel has a close relationship with her sister. “In some states, minors can actually choose or tell the court who they want to be their guardian because they want to stay in a similar family situation,” he explains.

The family is scheduled to be back in court on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Early last week, Celebuzz reported that Modern Family star Ariel Winter was taken away from her mother, Chris Workman, with a judge granting temporary custody of the 14-year-old to her older sister, Shanelle Gray.

In court papers filed on Oct. 3, Winter claims her mother subjected her to “ongoing physical abuse (slapping, hitting, pushing) and emotional abuse (vile name-calling, personal insults about minor and minor’s weight, attempts to ‘sexualize’ minor, deprivation of food, etc.) for an extended period of time.”

On Oct. 6, three days after Winter filed said papers, Workman filed an incident report with police where she alleged “suspicious circumstances, possible unlawful sex with minor,” involving her daughter and 18-year-old boyfriend. In the three page report, Workman claims “she walked in the guest bedroom of her home and found her daughter, Ariel Winter Workman, in bed with boyfriend, [Name Redacted].”
