Tomorrow, Katie Couric will face off against former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin for the second time, when Palin guest hosts TODAY along side Matt Lauer, Ann Curry and the NBC gang.

As first reported last week, Katie is currently guest hosting Good Morning America this week while anchor Robin Roberts is on vacation. The show is on ABC, which will host Katie’s syndicated talk show in the fall.

The reasons behind Palin’s visit to TODAY remain unclear, but the situation is nonetheless eye-opening for two reasons: 1.) Palin will be on Couric’s old turf (Couric co-anchored TODAY for decades before leaving to host the CBS Evening News, in 2006); and 2.) the event will only rehash Couric’s now-infamous interview series with Palin from 2008, in which Palin struggled to answer many of Couric’s seemingly simple questions.

Julianne portrays the once Alaska governor during her campaign alongside Senator John McCain. As we all know, they lost to President Barack Obama and VP Joe Biden. Also in the film are Ed Harris as McCain, Woody Harrelson as Steve Schmidt and Justin Gaston (aka Miley Cyrus’ ex) as Levi Johnston.  The movie is based on the book of the same name.

While promoting Megamind, the topic of the elections came up which ultimately led to a discussion of Palin. Tina admitted that she was trying to remember how to do the impression, since it’s been so long since she’s done it.

We have to admit, Fey’s impression is a tad rusty, but hilarious nonetheless.

In between softly-lit nuzzle sessions, Brittani is seen battling her mom over her relationship with Levi, breaking down in tears when her mom has him arrested for charges unknown. Though Levi’s ex Bristol Palin’s mom Sarah Palin never had him detained by police, Levi likely drew on some of his drama with the family. As E! puts it, the video’s all-too-familiar plot may have busted up Levi and Bristol’s second engagement.

Bristol is capping off a big week on the ABC dance-off, in which her mom Sarah Palin appeared as a guest commentator.

Palin sat front-row with daughter Piper, saying she was “so proud” of her eldest daughter, nicknamed ‘Bristol the Pistol.’  Later, Pistol’s quickstep earned favorable reviews from the judges, who said her “vulnerability” reminded them of past favorite Kelly Osbourne!

Bristol tells OK! magazine:

I decided to do the show to get out of Alaska for a few weeks, do something fun and positive and have a good time. My mom’s excited for me. She knows this is real family entertainment.

Bristol will be competing against The Situation and Audrina Patridge (amongst others) on the upcoming season of DWTS.

Bristol isn’t the first politically-connected DWTS contestant to compete on the show: Former politician Tom DeLay and conservative pundit Tucker Carlson have both danced on the show. Watch Tom dance a bipartisan samba below.

Maybe Bristol will break out in a politically-themed dance on the show!

She was most recently in the news for getting re-engaged to baby daddy Levi Johnston earlier this summer. The two called off the engagement several weeks later. Levi is currently filming his own reality show which will follow him as he attempts to run for Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.

Levi’s latest venture is a work-in-progress reality show entitled Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor’s Office that will coincide with Levi’s campaign to become the next mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, a quest that will no doubt put him in the line of fire once again since the position was once held by Sarah Palin herself.

When asked if he would make a better mayor than Sarah, Levi replied:

Let’s hope so. I can’t guarantee or promise you anything, but I’m going to try. That’s the goal. If we do win, I’m going to have to give up Hollywood for three years.

Following the collapse of his reconciliation with Bristol Palin, Johnston, a high school drop-out, faced criticism from the Palin clan at his decision to run for his would-have-been mother-in-law’s old job.

“I never knew he had political aspirations,” Bristol told Us Weekly. “I’m glad that Levi has not given up on completing his education and is looking for steady employment.”

Palin family mockery aside, there is some good news for Levi. Because his mayoral bid has officially started, he can legally accept campaign donations.

Palin’s baby daddy and two-time ex-fiancé, Levi Johnston, recently announced that he will be running for Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska (a position once held by the elder Palin), which will be chronicled in his upcoming reality seres, Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor’s Office. Apparently stirred by hard feelings over their recent break-up (or perhaps out of familial loyalty), Bristol lashed out at Johnston over his mayoral bid via Us Weekly, taking a dig at his status as a high-school dropout while she was at it:

“I never knew he had political aspirations. I’m glad that Levi has not given up on completing his education and is looking for steady employment.”

Levi is in fact already working: He’s honing his acting skills in the new Brittani Senser video.

The 24-year-old singer has announced via her Facebook page that she and Levi wrapped shooting on the video for the single, After Love. In a Facebook status update, Brittani said she was “tired, exhausted and so excited for everyone to see the video:”

I really enjoyed working with Levi and his crew. They’ve been so kind and supportive this weekend. Im so grateful for the experience. Ill be back soon L.A. :)

The world now awaits the premiere of the video that Bristol Palin said mocks her family, but Brittani told RadarOnline.com that “even if Levi wasn’t in the video it probably would still be the same storyline.”

The show – which has yet to be picked up by a network – will be called Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor’s Office, executive producer, Canaan Rubin, tells Us Weekly.

The docu-soap will follow the ever controversial, headline making, matinee idol, handsome father of one as he embarks on a run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska… [the] series will chronicle a ‘no-holds-barred’ period in Levi’s tumultuous life; co-raising his son Tripp, looking for love, and taking care of business for his fellow Wasillians.

Before 20-year-old Levi can run, he has to get his high school diploma. Earning the endorsement of Wasilla’s former mayor – and his former almost mother-in-law Sarah Palin – will likely be a bigger hurdle.

Here’s hoping the Wasilla voters happened to miss Levi’s Playgirl magazine cover.

The on-again, off-again fiance to Sarah Palin‘s daughter Bristol Palin has reportedly signed a deal to star in his own reality show, sans Palin star power.

The Wasilla native, who most recently is starring as a male video honey for Brittani Senser‘s new music video, will reportedly begin shooting for his new reality show in Los Angeles on Monday and the camera crew will follow him as he makes his migration back to Alaska.

TMZ reports that “several networks” are interested in the Alaskan hunk’s reality show.

Levi was most recently in the news for getting re-engaged to Bristol. The pair broke off their engagement days later after a rumor popped up that Levi had impregnated a former girlfriend (both Levi and his ex-girlfriend deny the claim).

Levi and Bristol have one child together.

Sarah’s public disgust with Levi began in December 2008 following the presidential election, when he broke off the engagement to Bristol two weeks after she bore their child. It continued last fall when Levi enraged Sarah by alleging she called her infant son with Down syndrome “retarded,” to which she retorted that anyone willing to pose for Playgirl would “say and do anything for even more attention.”

The day the news broke about Bristol and Levi’s re-engagement, Sarah issued a supportive, vague statement:

Sarah’s daughter Bristol Palin has announced that she is engaged once again to baby daddy (and sometime-Palin family mocker) Levi Johnston. Yes, really.

The couple announced that they were dating again earlier this month but no one expected that the two would be getting engaged so quickly. The pair were previously engaged in 2008 but called off the wedding just two weeks after their son Tripp was born in December 2008.

After they broke their first engagement Levi then went on to pursue a career in Hollywood and appear in Playgirl magazine. He made headlines for dissing Bristol’s mom Sarah in public but he has since apologized for his previous behavior.

Bristol, 19, tells Us Weekly that the pair got engaged two weeks ago because “it felt right” even though they have yet to tell Mama Grizzly about their wedding plans yet:

It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. Hopefully she will jump on board.

Well, she might not be happy about having to find out about the engagement on the cover of Us Weekly.

Levi, 20, says that the two reconnected while working out custody plans for their 18-month-old son. Hopefully this engagement will stick.

UPDATE (10:30 a.m.): Sarah has released a statement to NBC News:

Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what’s best for our children. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives.

UPDATE (9:10 a.m.): TMZ is reporting that Bristol and Levi aren’t sleeping together since Bristol took an abstinence pledge to remain chaste until she is married. Bristol also says she wants Levi to get married while wearing a cameo vest. Sounds classy!

A mountain of unpleasant sentiments have been publicly expressed between Johnston and the family of former Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin since Johnston split with Sarah’s daughter shortly after the birth of their son Tripp in late 2008. Johnston, who at one point was shopping a tell-all book on the former First Family of Alaska, accused Sarah and husband Todd of ogre-like parenting. Sarah, meanwhile, had some not-so-kind words about Johnston’s decision to pose in Playgirl.

But Johnston has extended an olive branch via—what else?—the media, offering a public apology through People magazine:

“Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true…I have already privately apologized to Todd and Sarah. Since my statements were public, I owe it to the Palins to publicly apologize.”

Wow; if this divide can be bridged, perhaps there’s hope for eventual peace in the Middle East after all. And who knows; maybe Johnston’s mea culpa means that he and Bristol really have rekindled their romance.

Now if only Bristol will publicly apologize to the rest of us for deciding to get into the acting game.

A Palin pal tells Us Weekly that reports that the former Republican nominee for Vice President are “absolutely ridiculous.”

The rumor first got started earlier this week when political humor blog Wonkette speculated that Sarah had bought some, uh, “luxury items” with her newfound millions after she was photographed looking a little more busty than usual. The story spread like wildfire but in the end, it just wasn’t real.

Us Weekly reports that they tried numerous times to get in contact with the 46-year-old former governor but her camp refused to comment.
