The first season of Carrie Diaries came to a fashionable finale this week. To help ease the withdrawal, we’re taking a look back at all the fab fashion from Season One. While the Sex and the City prequel is set in the ’80s, the show’s costume designer Eric Damon has gone with a decidedly modern spin on the era’s fashion for Carrie (played by AnnaSophia Robb) and her gang (check out what he had to say about Carrie’s wardrobe here), giving us a new source of outfit inspiration to fill the void left behind by SATC and Gossip Girl. 5 Reasons ‘Dukes of Melrose’ Is A Must-See (VIDEO)

Forget any notions of rifling through racks of moth-eaten castoffs at your local Salvation Army store. Bravo’s newest fashion reality show, Dukes of Melrose, showcases the glamorous side of vintage shopping that has made Decades boutique a favorite of Hollywood’s most stylish stars and stylists.

Offering an inside look into the world of vintage couture, the show follows Cameron Silver and Christos Garkinos, the pair behind Decades, as they clean out some of the world’s most coveted closets and help their celebrity clientele find that perfect one-of-a-kind dress/necklace/bag for their big red carpet moment.

I got to sit down with the show’s gregarious stars to get the scoop on what we can expect to see when the Dukes of Melrose premieres tonight — and why it’s a must-see.

1. Major Drama

And I’m not talking about your average fashion reality show drama — cat fights, tears, kiss and makeup, repeat. Consider all that tame compared to the table-throwing kind of craziness Silver and Garkinos promise to deliver. Think: A soap opera but with stars dressed in vintage couture and evil plots centered around breaking up a starlet and her Birkin bag, not her cute husband.

2. Lots of Laughs

Take it from me, these two are hilarious — even first-thing in the morning. They had me in stitches before I could even finish my first cup of coffee, so I can only imagine what they come up with tonight. But one thing is for certain – nothing, and I mean nothing, is off limits with these two.

3. Closets to Die For

When Hollywood’s most stylish women are looking to clean out their closets, they call Silver and Garkinos. And the pair is taking viewers inside some of the world’s most coveted closets, as they help couture collectors like Dita von Teese and Phyllis Diller part with their designer duds. Bottom line: Expect closets that would put Carrie Bradshaw to shame mixed with a healthy dose of kicking, screaming and tears.

4. A History Lesson

Stop yawning. This is a history class you won’t want to sleep through. The show will take viewers around the world as Silver and Garkinos search for one-of-a-kind pieces from every decade, offering a look at some of the most iconic fashion to walk the runways and red carpets over the years. Prepare to drool

5. Fabulous Fashion

Obviously, you knew this was coming. The vintage couture looks that have made star stylists like Rachel Zoe regulars at Decades are the stuff red carpet dreams are made of. In fact, these two are responsible for some of the most memorable red carpet moments, because when they dress a star in one of their couture pieces, there’s no chance someone else will be wearing the same thing.

Our 10 Favorite Moments from 10 Seasons of ‘Project Runway’

A new season of Project Runway premieres tonight, and there’s a whole lot to be excited about. With Michael Kors signing off and Zac Posen in, we can expect a fresh new feel to the show.

Season 11 is sure to bring more fabulous guest appearances by fashion A-listers after last season upped the ante with Katie Holmes’ cameo — plus, more of the drama, style and Heidi-isms that have made the show a hit.

“Ten years has produced ten talented casts and racks of fashion eye candy!” says David Zyla, Emmy Award-winning stylist and author of Color Your Style.

With ten seasons and a successful spinoff, Project Runway All Stars, under its belt, it’s hard to remember what life was like pre-Project Runway. The fashion reality series has come a long way since its first season, when the designers, limited to items that they bought in a grocery store, fashioned looks made out of everything from crawfish and candy to aluminum foil and flat bread. Amazing.

So as we countdown to tonight’s premiere, we’re looking back at some of the fashionable highlights from the past ten seasons of Project Runway.

Who can forget the Season One supermarket challenge and the cornhusk cocktail dress created by Austin Scarlett? Season Two brought another difficult challenge using only materials from Manhattan’s flower district. This round was mastered by Daniel Vosovic and his beautiful flower dress.

Also of note: Season Four wunderkind Christian Siriano and Chris March’s avant garde off-white ruffled gown, as well as Korto Momolu’s seat-belt dress, a highlight of Season Five.

We all have our favorite episodes of Project Runway lore — Santino Rice’s pitch perfect impressions of Tim Gunn (“Andre, you really embarrassed me tonight at Red Lobster!”) and Austin Scarlett’s corn-fed innovation are up there for us.

Which ‘Girls’ Star’s Style Do You Want to Steal?

Whether it’s Lena Dunham’s sexy hipster ensembles or Allison Williams’ preppy-chic looks, the stars of HBO’s Girls are some of the most stylish ladies on- and- off-screen these days.

And with Girls‘ big wins at the Golden Globes and the premiere of its second season last night, its leading ladies are sure to be getting lot’s of play time on the red carpet in the months (and years, we hope!) to come.

To celebrate the show’s Golden Globes wins and new season, we’re breaking down the cast of Girls’ red carpet style. Then it’s your turn to weigh in on the star whose off-screen style you’d steal.

Like their characters on the show, each of the show’s leading ladies has a unique personal style and look that they’ve honed, but not ditched, since becoming red carpet regulars.

While Williams has experimented more with her style during the last year (and gotten some flack for her recent “Hollywood makeover”), she tends to stick to classic silhouettes with preppy underpinnings.

Dunham, on the other hand, has an edgier downtown style that’s a little bit grunge and a little bit hipster mixed with a touch of tomboy. However, she’s stepped up her style, even experimenting with more fashion-forward looks and big-name designers, for her recent big red carpet moments.

The show’s creator and star rocked a strapless Valentino jumpsuit to the show’s official premiere in New York City last week, where she talked about moving outside her fashion comfort zone.

“I didn’t think I could get away with [wearing it] because jumpsuit seems like such a dirty word,” Dunham told PEOPLE. “But people are acting like it’s a normal thing to do, so I’m just rolling with it.”

Channeling a more modern, minimalist vibe, Zosia Mamet (aka Shapiro) gravitates toward menswear-inspired styles and lot’s of black. Mamet’s style opposite, Jemima Kirke rocks a more urban-bohemian style that isn’t too different from her character Jessa. The new mom opts for long, breezier styles on the red carpet and hippie-inspired accessories.

‘Carrie Diaries’ Costume Designer Eric Daman Gives Us a Peek Inside Young Carrie Bradshaw’s Closet

Carrie Bradshaw returns to the small screen, when the Carrie Diaries premieres on the CW on on Jan. 14, starring AnnaSophia Robb as a teenage Bradshaw. We couldn’t be more excited to see the Sex and the City spinoff — and see all the set style.

While the show chronicles a young Carrie, circa the 1980s, you know when it’s Carrie — and former Gossip Girl costume designer Eric Daman is dressing her — the fashion is going to be good.

We talked to Daman to get the scoop on all the fabulous fashion we can expect when Carrie Diaries airs on Monday. Check out our interview — then take a sneak peek at the retro fashion straight from the set.

How are you translating Carrie’s SATC style for her younger self in Carrie Diaries?
ED: The approaches are very different. Keep in mind while “pre”-creating a teenage Carrie, she is still in public school in Connecticut. The Carrie Diaries of course will stay true to her idiosyncratic style by not giving in to pre-determined trends of the era but making her own. So in that sense there is a similarity, but over all it feels like a very different process.

Tell us what young Carrie’s style is like.
ED: Conceptually, we hope to create an aspirational authentic look, not an overtly kitschy ’80s look. Our young CB’s style will be idiosyncratic, but quieter then the Carrie we already know. She is at an age where she is experimenting, learning and creating her individual unique style. Keeping all of this in mind when conceiving her look, I wanted to give her a unique point of view mixing colors and patterns, as well as eras. Mixing obvious ’80s-inspired items with pieces from her “mother’s closet” that feel more ’60s and ’70s with contemporary flair.

Is there a person or experience that helps to inspire Carrie’s love of fashion and personal style?

ED: [On the show] Carrie’s mom has passed recently and her closet becomes a bit of a “Pandora’s box” that inspires Carrie’s style. She has access to a Narnia of fashion from eras past, she may wear boots that seem as though they are from the ’70s (even though they are current Chloe collection) or printed tops from the ’60s (even though they are Marc by Marc Jacobs).

Carrie has a true fashion evolution the more and more she has contact with NYC. She has this amazing fashion mentor “Larissa,” the style editor from Interview Magazine that really contributes to Carrie’s blossoming original take on style. (Of course having access to the ’80s Interview fashion closet doesn’t hurt.)

Now, speaking of the ’80s, how are you adapting the trends of that era (some of which make many of us cringe like, ahem, shoulder pads) to create looks that are reflective of the time, yet inspiring to today’s fashion-loving viewers?
ED: I refreshed my ’80s fashion sense (having been a fashion curious teen in the ’80s was an added bonus) by rewatching all of the John Hughes classics, as well as a mix of quiet Connecticut-inspired hometown films like Ordinary People, and of course getting out my high school yearbooks. New York City becomes an important part to her character and style as well, so I poured through Interview magazines from the era, as well as films like Liquid Sky, Slaves of New York and Desperately Seeking Susan. Fortunately, there is a lot of ’80s-inspired fashion trending right now, so keeping an aspirational authenticity to the look is a very realistic concept.

A lot of ’80s fashion wasn’t the cutest or most flattering. By keeping the shapes and fabrics contemporary, but playing with colors and layers, the look feels very retro-modern and cool. We are working with classic ’80s colors and prints but in modern more slimming shapes and silhouettes — not giant shoulder pads and oversized bulk.

Will Carrie have signature accessories like her name necklace on SATC?

ED: As far as signature accessories go, there’s the personalized “Carrie” bag from Mark Cross and the “C” initial pendant from Alex woo (a prelude to the signature Carrie nameplate).

What are some hallmarks of her closet (like the tutu she wears in the opening credits of SATC)?

ED: The silver sequin Top Shop dress with vintage Rainbow belt, the Autumn Cashmere lime green leopard cardi (tres Carrie B.), the fuchsia party dress with black polka dots that represents her first night out in NYC (a vintage ’80s Scasi original), her neon orange Alice and Olivia pumps.

Has young Carrie discovered her foot fetish and handbag fetish yet?

ED: She hasn’t discovered her shoe and bag fetish just yet, but as the season progresses we will definitely might see that fetish flourish and progress.

Carrie could be pretty daring — and sexy — with her fashion on SATC. How will you be toning down her style to fit a younger Connecticut Carrie?
ED: Our teen Carrie will totally take chances and be a standout style star. The “sexiness” will be replaced by confident, sweet innocence.

How does your work on Carrie Diaries compare to Gossip Girl? Dressing teenage Carrie must be a big change from the high-end designers and of-the-moment looks Blair and Serena wore.
ED: The biggest similarity is the fact that I really wanted to give each character his or her own very personalized style. As a costume designer, it is really key to help define a character through clothing, and I am lucky enough to be able to, not once but twice, push characters stylistically to really shine and stand on their own through their wardrobe choices.

The biggest difference is that Carrie and her crew are Connecticut suburban teens of mid-level affluence and not uber rich Upper East-siders, running around scheming in the latest high fashions.

What labels will young Carrie be wearing? What are some of your go-to sources for unique clothes and accessories for the show?
ED: The clothing came from a lot of my favorite haunts in NYC: Amarcord, Beacon’s Closet, Ressurrection, Cloak and Screaming Mimi’s for Vintage. I also relied on fast fashion shops like Top Shop and H&M, as well as high-end stores like Saks, to give the look its contemporary “aspirational authenticity” we hoped to develop. Of course, there will be some big-name designers sprinkled in like Marc Jacobs, Chloe, Missoni and Georges Chakra to name a few…

Why were you excited by the opportunity to dress young Carrie? What made this project so appealing to you?
ED: Dressing a young Carrie Bradshaw was at first quite intimidating but ultimately exhilarating. It was very important to keep in mind that she is a young high school student in Connecticut and still figuring out her style. And of course the era plays a huge roll in the over all look.

The 8 Most Stylish TV Shows of 2012 (PHOTOS)

It’s been a fashionable year for TV.

Not only did the number of style-centric shows grow, with the debut of Fashion Star and the return of MTV’s House of Style, but some of the silver screen’s stylish standbys also expanded their reach. Project Runway launched its star-packed spinoff Project Runway All Stars, while America’s Next Top Model announced the addition of male models to the show.

While we said goodbye to TV’s most stylish shows since Sex and the City, with this week’s finale of Gossip Girl, we also welcomed an array of fashionable new characters into our living rooms in 2012.

Stylish newcomers like Revenge packed a serious style punch, offering eye candy for every style type, from country fans to uptown girls. And, of course, the well-dressed stars of Game of Thrones and Hart of Dixie continued to influence our off-screen style, even infiltrating the fall and spring fashion runways.

So as we countdown to 2013 (and the return of some of the most stylish shows in January), we’re counting down the year’s most fashionable shows.

A Countdown to ‘Gossip Girl’s’ Fashionable Finale

With the series finale of Gossip Girl, comes the end of one of TV’s most stylish shows since Sex and the City.

Blake Lively (aka Serena van der Woodsen) and Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf) filled the stylish shoes Carrie Bradshaw left behind.

More than just a show about love and friendship in NYC, the novel-turned-TV-series also centered around fashion, introduced us to new designers and inspired us with its characters’ glam Manhattan style.

Fashion notables like Tory Burch, Cynthia Rowley and Rachel Zoe were among some of the series’ big guest stars, and fashion played a central role in the lives of many of the show’s stars, including Jenny Humphrey (played by Taylor Momsen) and Blair. Even the narrator of the show, the “Gossip Girl” blogger (voiced by Kristen Bell), touched on the pivotal role bloggers began to play in mainstream fashion when the CW series first began in 2007.

Like SATC, there was something for every kind of fashionista: From Serena’s downtown designer duds to Blair’s uptown preppy polish and Georgia Sparks’ (played by Michelle Trachtenberg) edgy-glam style, each episode offered an array of sartorial eye candy. And like Carrie’s flower brooch, curly mane, and name necklace, the privileged characters of Gossip Girlhad their own signature style symbols, such as Serena’s long boho waves, Blair’s headbands, and Jenny’s eye liner.

‘Gossip Girl,’ ‘Mad Men,’ ‘Revenge’ and 11 More TV Shows with Great Style: Set Style (GALLERY)

As our favorite shows finally come back for a new season — and the new ones we’ve been anticipating for months finally debut — we’re not just tuning in to see the latest guest-star on Glee (Kate Hudson! Sarah Jessica Parker! Whose next?), Lucky’s latest misfortune on Boardwalk Empire or what 666 Park Avenue is all about — we want to see what all our favorite characters are wearing, too.

And the silver-screen style competition is heating up: From Serena (Blake Lively) and Blair (Leighton Meester) on Gossip Girl and Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) and Ashley Davenport (Ashley Madekwe) on Revenge to the aristocratic aesthetics of the ladies of Downtown Abbey — not to mention newcomers like the fashionable cast of 666 Park Avenue (including Ugly Betty alum Vanessa Williams) and the country strong style on Nashville joining fall’s TV lineup — the small screen is full of fashion inspiration this season.
