Last week, Shannen talked with us about misconceptions and mistakes – and now get more scoop from the famed TV icon. Shannen discusses kids, finding ‘the one’ and — of course – 90210 with Celebuzz’s Taryn Ryder.

I know you went through a hard time with the passing of your father, but it looked like Kurt really helped you through that. Was that part of how you knew Kurt was “the one”?
Yeah, I knew he was the one the minute I met him. There are things that happen in life and in a relationship that maybe cement your togetherness even more, and my father passing away was definitely one of them. We were engaged prior to my dad passing away, so we already knew that we wanted to spend our life together. When my [dad] passed away we put the wedding off because I couldn’t really imagine walking down the aisle. You know my mom, I think Kurt helped my mom quite a bit. Anybody that helps my mom I’ll love and be loyal for the rest of my life. My mom is the most raw, honest human being, what you see is what you get. Kurt and just my relationship with my mom in general has helped me start to deal with it, and it has helped me at least put one foot in front of the other every single day.

You and Kurt really do seem great together. On a lighter note, I saw that one relationship “rule” you guys have is to spend weekends together. What other rules do you have?
Respect. Respect is a very, very, very, very big rule. It doesn’t really matter if you are in a fight and are hating each other or anything else, but name calling is an absolute no! And you know people get in fights and someone will flip out, but it’s up to that person to really apologize for it. For us, it’s mainly its about respect. Whether it’s fights or loyalty or how you conduct yourself in public, any of that falls under respect. Another rule we have, is he has his parents I have my mom, so we have to show each other’s families respect and put each other first.

So… what is harder: planning a wedding or landing the right guy?
I think landing the right guy is a lot harder!

Tell me about it–I’ve been looking and it’s tough!
It’s when you’re not looking! I know, everyone says that and you’re like “Oh whatever,” but it’s true because when I met Kurt I definitely was not looking. I was just getting out of a relationship myself– I wanted to be single and he was in the process of getting out of a relationship and he didn’t want a relationship either. That’s sort of when it clubs you over the head and you’re like ‘Oh!. But it’s also when you’re ready; you know when you’re actually ready for the right guy. Because honestly, how I met Kurt, a year prior or 4 years prior or whatever, I wouldn’t have been ready for him or wouldn’t have been able to recognize that he was the right guy for me.

So I noticed the “no children” policy you had at your wedding. Do you two want kids? 
Yeah we do want kids eventually and it’s funny– I ended up having kids at the wedding! It was kind of the most whimsical and joyful part of the wedding, seeing these kids on the dance floor just getting down and having an absolute blast. I realized ‘Oh God, I was so stringent.’ It’s because it was the first time I’ve had an actual wedding, I thought I could be a little bit controlling about it, and after a while you just have to let things go. In letting things go you sometimes become enlightened, and we sat there watching the kids dance and it was like, ‘How could you not have kids there?’

Do you see yourself having kids soon? Or in a few years?
Although we’ve been together now for three and a half years, we enjoy each other’s company so much that I think right now we just want to keep it the two of us. That doesn’t mean that we’re not taking the proper steps to have a kid! Somebody looked at me recently and said ‘You used to be so skinny, you’ve gained some weight!’ I was like, ‘Yeah because I was too skinny to even have a kid’. You start changing your eating habits, and you put on a couple of pounds because it’s healthier for you. Then you just kind of wait and find the right time to see what happens.

I’m a huge 90210 fan, and by that I mean I’m a huge Brenda Walsh fan. Do you ever watch reruns when they are on?
I don’t, but it has nothing with the show and everything to do with the fact that I can’t watch myself on TV. I would become incredibly self conscious; I’ve watched a couple of things I’ve been in because I’m very curious. Like Heathers– I’ve watched Heathers. But for me, I notice too many things and I will sit there and make a list of things that I do that annoy me. Whether it’s the way my eyebrow raises or the way I push my hair. I guess in a way its good because when I try and build the next character, I make sure I don’t do those things and push my personal habits out so that the character is completely different, but I also think it comes a point when you become too self conscience and I don’t ever want to get there.

Just so you know, I watch reruns all the time and get actively upset when Kelly goes after Dylan.
Well you’re right to! That’s the breaking of girl code. How could you do that? I remember getting that storyline and being so mad because I thought it was so irresponsible and what kind of message were we sending out to kids. In hindsight, I go alright it happened, and we elicited an emotional response from the audience and people definitely took sides– that was our job. Personally, I’m really glad I played Brenda in that scenario and not Kelly, just because it’s one of those personal things that I could never do to one of my friends.

Do you still keep in touch with any of the cast?
With some of them. With anything in life, you don’t always keep up with the kids you went to high school with. So it’s the same thing. I didn’t work with them for 10 years or 8 years, or however long the show was. I had a very different scenario. I was there for 3 or 4 years– I can’t even remember! I do speak to Brian [Austin Green] and I do speak to Jennie [Garth]. I ran into Tory [Spelling] a couple of week ago, and it was lovely seeing her again. I also ran into Ian [Ziering] and I had a fantastic time sort of catching up with Ian. So there’s some that I’m much closer to, there are some that it’s enjoyable to see and catch up with. It kind of fills you with this joy of seeing someone that you worked with and now you’re adults and everything is different. And to be honest there’s some people I don’t talk to at all.

Celebuzz spoke with Shannen about the show, which gives a glimpse into her life years after starring in one of the most popular programs to hit the small screen.

In the first episode, one of Shannen’s opening lines is, “You think you know me? Everybody does.” So we asked, what does she think some of the biggest misconceptions are about her serialized life?

“Probably that people think I am the same person I was at 18 or 22,” Shannen told Celebuzz.

“I think that it’s bizarre that people don’t realize that I was a kid — and now I am a woman who has grown up, quite a bit. People grow and they evolve. They change and they settle down. When you’re done testing the water and pushing the boundaries, you become more comfortable with yourself.”

Continued Doherty:

“That whole time period in your life back then is all about finding out who you are and in the process you make mistakes. You fall flat on your face, everyone does.  If you didn’t make mistakes you wouldn’t be human and you wouldn’t have an interesting life as far as I’m concerned! They just don’t seem to ever cut me a break and think, ‘Oh, maybe she’s grown up,” and that is definitely the biggest misconception of me. That applies to the show. I wanted to do a show that was really honest, authentic — and truthful.”

One star who has had her fair share of mistakes is Lindsay Lohan, 25, who is on the cusp of another career comeback. The paparazzi have — literally — documented her every stumble. Given what Shannen told us — that you “fall flat on your face, everyone does” — we asked if she sympathized with the Mean Girl star’s trials and tribulations?

“I don’t follow the gossip or any of that, so I don’t even know what is happening in that girl’s life right now. I do know what she was facing, and I do think that living your life in the public eye is incredibly hard, but I also think it’s something we take on. She continues to take it on — and with that comes a sense of responsibility and decorum.”

Shannen continued:

“[Lindsay] is still very young. I was young and I made mistakes as we all do. Yes, we do have to have some sympathy, but we also have have to have a sense of responsibility and accountability. I think most people in the world are forgiving, but when you keep making the same mistakes over and over again and you keep apologizing for it but you never learn from it, then I think people are not forgiving because your apologies don’t bring truth. I don’t know if that’s the case with her, but my heart definitely goes out to anyone– whether it is Lindsay Lohan or Joe Shmoe– who is struggling, or has family issues, or anything else. I think you find somebody that you look up to or mentor you and learn from them.”

As an industry veteran, Shannen also offered young stars some advice to deal with the paparazzi.

“What [the paparazzi] want is a shot of you doing something awful, and if they are not getting it they usually get bored and they won’t harass you as much,” she said. “So just conduct yourself properly and you won’t have as many problems. If you’re conducting yourself properly, some may want a shot or two and some may cross the line occasionally, but its not as bad as some of these kids right now. It’s what you put out there.”

Or… bargain with them! Shannen told Celebuzz how she has dealt with being hounded.

I was just in New York promoting [Shannen Says] and  a paparazzi was following us on a bicycle. We’re in traffic, there’s no way we can lose him. So I pullover and I had the driver ask him, ‘If she gets out and takes a picture will you leave her alone?’ and he said yes. So I got out of the car, took the picture and he rode off into the sunset or whatever the hell he went to his computer to upload the photo. He respected my space and my privacy, and I think if you hold yourself to a certain standard and if you treat people with respect and kindness, most of the time they will treat you back the same. It’s a lesson I’ve learned with age and personal growth.

When asked why she chose to get involved, Bobbie said:

“I love that 100% of the proceeds from the celebrity coat auction on eBay go to charity, which sadly is a hard thing to find. Even though One Warm Coat is a year round organization, this is a great time of year to give back.”

Shannen also added:

All you have to do is donate one warm coat. It’s so simple. I said “yes” immediately. GLAD is doing a beautiful thing. One-hundred percent of the proceeds go toward their charity.

A suit filed last week in Los Angeles has pinned the 40-year-old hanger-on and his roommate with brutality charges, according to TMZ.

Gertrude Harutunian is an alleged victim of a conspiracy to “hurt and injure” at a party said to be thrown last July at the Hollywood Hills residence Salomon shares with roomie Buddy Segal.

Harutunian claims she was invited to the soiree where narcotics like cocaine, meth and marijuana were “freely given out,” fueling Segal into a fit of rage.

She claims Segal dragged her by the hair off of a bed, proceeded to strike and hit her before throwing her across the room and into a shower, all while Salomon watched.

Haruntunian’s requested damages are undisclosed.

Salomon was first famous for dating and marrying Beverly Hills: 90210 starlet Shannen Doherty.  After their marriage was annulled (a theme?), Rick became infamous as Paris Hilton‘s costar and distributor of the heiress’s 2004 sex tape, 1 Night in Paris.

TMZ points out an interesting correlation with Salomon’s current residence—it happens to be the same property where the only recorded incident of domestic violence between OJ Simpson and his brutally murdered wife Nicole Brown Simpson occurred.

“I thought I’d be an artist, a fashion designer, a singer, a dancer, but never an actor,” Grimes tells Saturday Night magazine, on which she serves as the latest issue’s cover girl. “From there my passion for moving people through portrayals of different characters grew with every job. And five years later, here I am.”

That “here” is the CW’s splashy and trashy redux of Aaron Spelling‘s cultural phenomenon Beverly Hills 90210.

Grimes’ character Annie is the parallel character to Doherty’s Brenda from years ago, a connection that’s led to a nice offscreen mentorship.

“The Annie/Brenda connection led to a sort of kinship between us,” Grimes said of guest star Doherty. “She’s advised me to stay strong, keep my head on, and focus on what’s real while letting the bullshit slide off.”

Oh, and that acting thing she never wanted to do? Consider her show hiatus already booked.

“I’m young and my goal as an actor is to experience and portray as many different roles as possible…I’ll try to spread my wings during the off season,” said Grimes.

Radar reports that Doherty originally had no wish to ever bring Minnesota transplant and accomplished shrieker Brenda Walsh to the small screen again after leaving the original series at the end of its fourth season.

“As an actor, to go back and play a character that I had already, in my opinion, exhausted … like, what’s the challenge?” she said.

“I’ve worked for 27 years, steadily, thanks to very loyal fans. What’s the one way to say thank you? To play a character that you thought you’d never play again in the one show they want to see.”

Plus, the gossip hater reportedly made $50,000 an episode. More than enough reason to spar with Kelly Taylor again.

EW also says that, despite earlier reports, Shannen Doherty will most likely be returning for two more episodes this season; 90210 executive producer Gabe Sachs says that she’s “in talks,” while another source asserts, “[S]he’s coming back. The deal isn’t officially done, but it’s happening.”

If Priestley ends up directing one of the episodes Doherty appears in, he should proceed with caution. Word is that the little hellcat has a tendency to go overboard.

As for directing the other ladies of the show, Jason would be well advised to use a special magnifying lens on the camera.

The actress and beer enthusiast was spotted at Samy’s Camera in Los Angeles yesterday, accompanied by a younger male companion of hunky proportions.

Hopefully Shannen was picking up a camera to commemorate this probably-fleeting romantic conquest. In this town, it might not be too long before she can’t even get arrested again.

Doherty’s former castmate, Brian Austin Green, might want to consider a similar photo souvenir tactic.

It’s true that Paris and Pam have terrible taste in men yet even they probably regret dating this slime ball. But not Shannen.

The 90210 actress tells Details magazine that she doesn’t regret her brief 2002 marriage to Randy Ricky, Us reports.

“There was something that Rick provided that was amazing to me,” she told Details. But then she adds, “I look at what he did [with Hilton] and think, ‘God, that’s disgusting.’”

And she knows from disgusting.

The new drama teacher at West Beverly High says that she was trying to find herself in her early 20s, which got her labeled as a “bad girl.”

“Many nights I cried myself to sleep over that stuff,” she claims.

The worst part was when she was labeled as a drunk!

“They said that I was so, quote, ‘scared of the drink’ that I was sleeping on my sponsor’s couch,” she recalls. “Now, I’ve never been in AA. I accompanied my husband to AA meetings—actually, I forced him to go to one—but I’ve never actually gone for myself.”

Shannen Doherty, a lush? How could people have gotten that idea?

Network bigwig Dawn Ostroff says 90210 is “another step forward in building a cohesive schedule that defines this network as a destination for young women with shows that get our audience talking—and watching,” reports People.

Gee, what could audiences be talking so much about, Dawn?

Regardless, tonight is the final episode of the revamped teen soap with Shannen Doherty as a cast member.

Although, Shannen may want to rethink that. It looks as if she could use something constructive to fill her time up.

It’s an interesting take on reality, considering Tori already turned them down when she found out her salary would be less then other old-school 90210 alums, Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty.

“Yeah, we’ll see. I’m a big believer in what’s meant to be will be, so if it’s meant to be it will work out,” she told the magazine. “I watched it and I think it’s so cute.  The new cast is so cute.”

Cute? Even Shannen-slamming Shenae Grimes? With 90210 struggling in the ratings, a call to Tori seems unlikely. Maybe it’s time to step away from the phone, Tor, and get back to mommying.

When’s a raven-haired 90210 minx like you ever gonna find enough time to guzzle all that brew? Oh, that’s right…your schedule’s looking pretty free these days.

Hey, Shann, maybe you can crack open one of those bottles over Shenae Grimes‘ head. Oh, just kidding. After all, this is 2008, not 1994.

Anyway, bottoms up, Shannen! Catch you in 15 more years for 90210…Again.

Hence the stops being pulled out for garnering publicity for the show.

And if folks aren’t exactly buying the strategically-timed on-set catfight between 90210 vet Shannen Doherty and newbie Shenae Grimes, producers are hoping the reveal of the father of Kelly’s (Jennie Garth) son will fire up the curiosity factor for Tuesday’s episode.

People notes, “Brenda and Kelly will be having a serious conversation about Sammy’s dad when Brenda reveals his name. So far, Kelly has mentioned she knew him in high school and they have history together. The couple went their separate ways, but hooked up four years ago. Since then, he’s been out of the picture.”

Hmmm. It’s probably safe to assume it’s not David (Brian Austin Green), since he was Kelly’s brother on the original series.

Producer Gabe Sachs says the babydaddy may appear on a future episode.

So who could it be?

“They asked me to do a lot more,” she told the magazine, but “I’m in the middle of pitching a show, [so] I couldn’t commit to more than [I did].”

It probably doesn’t help that 90210 newbie Shanae Grimes apparently has an ax to grind with Doherty.

Shannen’s brief appearance on the series feels kind of cheap after the CW’s the-bitch-is-back promos. 

Unlike Brenda, Jennie Garth‘s Kelly Taylor will be appearing in a total of 11 episodes this season. The original 90210 series ended with Kelly choosing Kelly. This time around it seems everyone is choosing Kelly. Which is a good thing for Garth, who hasn’t been the busiest actress as of late.

• Gorgeous characters + juicy plot lines = guilty pleasure, anyone?
• GG ratings skyrocketed up from last season, and the kids from West Beverly High gave the network its biggest debut ever!
• The country’s favorite biatches are back: Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty. Bring. It. On!
• New characters mean more nasty cat fights and dark secrets coming to light!

On the other hand, David Duchovny has had a rough time, with his not-so anticipated X-Files movie flopping badly last month. This week, it was all topped off with a shocking revelation worthy of Californication:

• He announced to the world that he is checking into rehab for sex addiction! Wait a tick!
• Many speculated on who the lucky ladies (or men) were! 
• Then it was announced that he wasn’t sleeping around, but rather spent lots and lots of time in internet pornography chat rooms. 
• Now there are indications that David did in fact cheat on his wife of 12 years, Tea Leoni, who finally gave him an ultimatum to get some help. 

In fact, Shannen is displaying her sweet treat so prominently that you have to wonder: Is the Coca-Cola company cashing in on the 90210 remake hype by persuading “Brenda Walsh” to innocently pose with their product for the paps?

Celebrities can earn large dollars for getting photographed using a company’s products.

Remember when Lindsay Lohan was carrying around Ariva nicotine gum all the time? And making sure the brand name showed in all of her paparazzi photos?

Or the world could just be populated by celebrity conspiracy theorists here, and Shannen was just thirsty.
