I have a heritage in ethnicity and Im a minority...AND I STILL DON'T CARE..playing that card is lame. It for best and worst, who cares what inspired crap
Mrs. Davis
you do realize that blacks are no longer a minority anymore right? it's actually the white people who are the minority now, and all this damn affirmative action bullsh*t has schools and business discriminating against whites now. so stfu already.
You do realize that blacks ARE still a minority--now second behind Latinos.
relevant
To the woman saying that we shouldn't make black women interchangeable: I don't think that ExurbanMom was doing so. She specifically mentioned flowers, but Sherri's not wearing any, and Mo'nique was. I think she just happened to comment on this page as it's the last in the slideshow, and not because she confused the two women.
good point. I hope you're right. I just wanted to flag the issue, because I feel like it happens all too often. ExurbanMom, I apologize for the misunderstanding.
Hmmm

I care! It's about time to add something memorable to such an occasion and also add some color - both in the dresses and in the faces. Why were there so many bland colored dresses this year?? Lots of crab grays and other pale colors that made people looked totally washed out.
relevance
I think the fact that this isn't Mo'Nique is absolutely relevant.
Yes -- M's reason for dressing as she did is an important fact to publicize, to remind us of racial inequities that exist in the academy awards, both past and present. But it's also REALLY important to not treat black women (or any other identity group) as interchangeable, which is what I was concerned ExurbanMom was doing by referencing Mo'Nique's outfit under a picture of Sherri Shepherd.

You would realize that, if you weren't racist, that Whites make up 75% of the population of the United States, compared to 12.4% Black. Please stop spreading racist nonsense; it doesn't help anyone. I can't tell you the last time I was discriminated against for being white.
seriously.

You all might be interested to know that Mo'nique's entire ensemble was inspired by Hattie McDaniel's ensemble when she became the first African-American to win the Oscar. Ms. McDaniel wore royal blue, and she wore flowers as well. You may not like the ensemble, but I find it lovely that she would pay tribute to her predecessor in this way
WHO CARES
dress looks nice but if it werent so long, it makes her look short
Marianne
I wouldn't put this on the Worst Dressed list. Sure, it's not much of a fashion risk, but it looks lovely on her.
really?
um, this isn't Mo'nique, ExurbanMom...

Lori Anne Brown
This one is okay - nothing special and a bit too dark of a shade of blue I think.
Lori Anne Brown
Agree with all but JLo. I really loved her dress - it got my best dressed pick in fact (with Sandra Bullock a VERY close second).
