New judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are definitely through to the next round, this according to their X Factor boss Simon Cowell.

“He thought it was one of the best judging days he’d ever done,” a source close to the show — which held auditions in Austin, Texas on Thursday — told Celebuzz.

“Simon just loved the first day.”

As we were first to report, there was a lot of fun and frivolity on the set with Lovato, 19, at one point calling 52-year-old Cowell ”old and impatient.’”

Later, ex Idol mouth Cowell was joking about a contestant butchering one of Lovato’s own songs to which the “Skyscraper” songstress snapped back at the show head honcho: “At least I have a song Simon!”

Cowell responded, ”Demi, I think you need to sit in the naughty chair for a few minutes today.”

The insider, who watched from the audience, told Celebuzz: “Austin had a lot of incredible auditioning but it was a big day for new judges too and no-one knew what to expect,” the source added.

“But Simon thought both Britney and Demi were really great. Demi was really confident right from the start and took both Simon and L.A. (Reid) on.”

Spears, 30, though had a controversial start to her X Factor tenure, reportedly leaving the set after being irked by a contestant’s performance.

That’s not true, according to our show insider.

“She took a break … for about 15 minutes – it wasn’t a big deal. She didn’t walk off, all the judges had a break,” the source said.

Members of the audience suggested Spears was visibly upset when an unidentified contestant belted out a version of her song “Hold It Against Me,” prompting her to quickly leave the panel.

“Britney looked a little shy in the first few auditions but by the second session she was really getting into it,” the source added.

“Right from the start, Britney knew what acts she liked. She wasn’t scared to disagree with Simon either.

Demi Lovato has done more than ease into the vacated X Factor judge’s chair — she’s also assumed Nicole Scherzinger‘s role as head honcho Simon Cowell‘s chief antagonist.

The 19-year-old’s first day of judging the hit Fox show in Austin, Texas, involved a day of put downs – not just reserved for contestants. She put Cowell, 52, in his place too.

A source at the auditions told Celebuzz: “Demi has really been brave with Simon, constantly reminding him how young she is and how old he is.

“At one point she told the audience, ‘He’s just old and impatient.’”

Later, Cowell was joking about a contestant butchering one of Lovato’s own songs to which the “Skyscraper” songstress snapped back: “At least I have a song Simon!”

Cowell responded, ”Demi, I think you need to sit in the naughty chair for a few minutes today.”

The source told Celebuzz that it was nothing more than “playful banter” and “Simon thinks Demi is hilarious.”

It wasn’t their first only of the day. As Celebuzz reported, Lovato called out her boss for being over the hill.

Meanwhile, Lovato’s fellow new judge Britney Spears took to Twitter on Thursday to dispel reports that she walked off stage during the middle of the auditions after a budding contestant did a rendition of her hit song, “Hold It Against Me.”

Spears, 30, wrote: “#Britneywalksoff??? LOL was just taking a little break people. I am having the BEST time!!!”

New X Factor judge Demi Lovato called out her boss, show creator and fellow judge Simon Cowell, for being over the hill during her and Britney Spears’ first round of auditions in Austin, TX, on Thursday.

“Within a few minutes of judging starting, Demi called Simon ‘grandpa’ because he’s seemingly decided to play the role of Cupid for her,” someone in the audience told Celebuzz.

The 19-year-old’s ‘grandpa’ jab was in response to a comment from Cowell, 52, who told one contestant whom he identified as “cute” that the former Sonny with a Chance star was “single at the moment.”

“Demi thought it was funny and she was laughing at Simon,” said the onlooker, who added “the contestant looked a bit nervous, because as it turned out his girlfriend was in the audience.”

Our spy also tells us 30-year-old Spears — who reportedly signed on to the Fox show in a deal worth up to $15 million — took to the judges’ table “like a duck to water.”

“She is already backing one group who she likened to the Dixie Chicks,” the insider added.

After a number of rumors surrounding who would be the new X Factor season 2 judges, it was finally announced that Demi Lovato and Britney Spears were the chosen ones — but is creator Simon Cowell happy with his decision?

In the new FOX promo for the show — that happened to air during the season 11 finale of Simon’s other show American Idol – the “Skyscraper” and “Slave 4 U” singers are featured with fellow judges Simon and L.A. Reid on set and smiling. However, the teaser ends with Simon saying to camera while laughing,

“What was I thinking?”

‘X Factor’ Judges Enjoy Four-Hour Dinner Together in New York After Big Announcement (EXCLUSIVE)

Yesterday, FOX finally confirmed the long-awaited news that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will join Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid on The X Factor this fall, replacing ousted judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.

The announcement was made during the afternoon, at the network’s Upfronts presentation in New York, which meant the fabulous foursome had plenty of time to enjoy the bright lights of New York in the evening.

So, where did they go?

Restaurant onlookers can exclusively reveal to Celebuzz that the four judges enjoyed a relaxed dinner together in the back of ABC Kitchen, where they stayed for about four hours.

“They were very talkative and enjoying it,” said one source. “They arrived mid-evening, around 8-ish, and stayed until late.”

Spears, 30, looked “amazing,” said an onlooker, donning a black dress (her third of the day) with her hair up. The Womanizer singer reportedly spent a lot of her time talking and joking around with Cowell, 52, while Lovato, 19, chatted it up with Reid.

“All four looked like they were getting on well and relaxed,” said the restaurant onlooker.

Cowell reportedly sat in between Spears and Lovato, and sipped on Sapporo beer.

Reid, 55, was the first to leave the restaurant, and was followed by Spears, who left with her managers. Cowell and Lovato left at the same time, said onlookers.

Miley Cyrus is being eyed as a potential fourth judge on Fox’s X Factor, Celebuzz has exclusively learned.

The ‘Party in the USA’ pop star is on Simon Cowell‘s top-secret shortlist that also includes Fergie, Avril Lavigne and Demi Lovato, an insider confirmed.

“There have been talks with Miley,” the source revealed.

Whilst Britney Spears has not yet inked her deal, it’s believed to be inevitable that she will join Cowell and fellow judge L.A. Reid, the chairman of Epic Records, in a deal worth up to $15 million, the source added.

“Britney’s deal is not done, it’s close, but we are not that far ahead to be making a formal announcement,” a source told Celebuzz.

Last week, in a move believed to be tied to Spears’ new X Factor gig, a Los Angeles judge made the ‘Toxic’ singer’s fiancé, Jason Trawick, a co-conservator, allowing him to sign off on decisions related to her career.

19-year-old Cyrus’ link to the vacant role comes as Cowell seeks to replace Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, who he fired after last season.

An X Factor spokesperson refused to confirm talks with any of the stars when contacted.

‘X Factor’ Judge: We Considered Whitney Houston For The Show

Before Whitney Houston‘s tragic death and after news broke that the female judges had been let go from The X Factor, judge L.A. Reid said they were considering the music icon for the show. L.A. told HLN:

“Whitney and we would have certainly considered it, but the truth is it never quite came to that. There was an interest there, but we never actually had meetings about it.”

Now, the show plans to pay tribute to the star who gave so much to music. Judge and X Factor executive producer Simon Cowell disclosed:

“The X Factor will pay tribute to Houston in some way, and he’ll make sure it’s different from his competitors at The Voice and American Idol.”

Cowell added, “I think we have to do it in a different way. But the important thing is that we’re going to continually pay tribute to Whitney Houston on this show because we love her, we love her songs, and there probably won’t ever be a season where you won’t hear a Whitney song. They’re timeless.”

Steve Jones Not Returning as ‘X Factor’ Host — Who Should Take Over Next Season?

Sorry Steve Jones‘ fans, the dreamy British fella has confirmed that he will not be returning to host the second season of the hit FOX reality show.

On Monday, Steve tweeted about his status as X Factor host, saying:

“I wont be hosting next seasons XFactor which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show.”

Oh no! While we’re sad to hear the news, we feel like we should start brainstorming for who could take over next season.

Simon Cowell ‘On a Break’ From Fiance Mezhgan Hussainy: Report

After months of speculation, Simon Cowell may have officially set the record straight regarding his engagement being called off. The British paper Daily Mirror is claiming that The X Factor judge told them that he’s “on a break” from his fiancee Mezhgan Hussainy.

“It’s quite a complicated relationship. We have had a break from each other, and we are still incredibly close,” he reportedly told the tabloid. “I’m vulnerable. It’s not on, it’s not off, it’s somewhere in the middle. I don’t know if I will ever get married, but I am happy.”

This news doesn’t come as too much of a surprise following the photos that surfaced of Simon with a few women.

The TV judge was even spotted on a yacht with a new women while vacationing in St. Bart’s earlier this month.

When asked by Howard Stern on his radio show in Sept. 2011 if he was still engaged, Simon answered “not sure.” Howard questioned Simon on not giving a straight answer of which he replied, “If we were having this conversation off the radio I could have a normal conversation.”

Simon and Mezhgan announced their engagement in February 2010.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Though is was never made official, it looks like Simon Cowell is no longer engaged. The X Factor host was coupled up with Mezhgan Hussainy, but as of late, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

Simon, 51, was spotted by X17online.com (click HERE to see more pics)on a yacht in St. Bart’s with a mystery woman who was very affectionate with the shirtless British TV star.

When asked by Howard Stern on his radio show in Sept. 2011 if he was still engaged, Simon answered “not sure.”

Life’s a beach for Simon Cowell. The 52-year-old X Factor judge spent the holiday weekend vacationing in Barbados and looked to be having the time of his life.

Simon showed off his buff bod, walking on the beach shirtless and posing with two bikini-clad mystery gals. The trio soaked up the sun and didn’t seem to mind the eying paparazzi. Eventually, Simon hit the surf and went jet skiing for part of the afternoon.

Simon has plenty of reason to celebrate as his contestant Melanie Amaro took home the $5 million recording deal during the first season’s finale last week.

Melanie told E! News that she would have been kicked off weeks ago, if she had one of the other judges – L.A. Reid, Nicole Scherzinger or Paula Abdul – as her mentor.

“No. I don’t think I would’ve gone very far at all because I needed Simon to be that tough judge that he was with me in order for me to grow, to get to a higher place. For me, I needed Simon,” Melanie said.

Paula Abdul did not take lightly to Jimmy Kimmel‘s comments about her X Factor contestants. The judges of the hit FOX show made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday night, but Paula didn’t stay on stage too long before she was offended.

The host said candidly of her ousted contestants, “Paula, yours deserved to go. Both of yours deserved to go.” The TV star was shocked at Jimmy’s comments, saying, “What?!” before walking off the set.” As she went to get up, the other judges laughed, and Simon Cowell even gave Jimmy a high-five.

She quickly returned to the stage smiling. “It’s nothing against you,” Jimmy said as Paula returned to the couch but sat on Simon’s lap. Then he dove into the relationship rumors between the two judges.

“Something has had to happen between you two sexually,” he quipped. Paula joked, “He’s a selfish lover. He’d be calling his own name out. … I can only imagine.”

Simon added, “I thought about it, but then I’d have to talk to her afterwards.”

In case you didn’t know, FOX’s brand new singing competition The X Factor premieres next week, and Celebuzz has all the inside scoop your need!

We were on hand at the show’s Hollywood premiere on Wednesday evening, and have inside scoop straight from the judges themselves!

The UK’s favorite show has made it’s way to the states! At the premiere of X Factor in Hollywood, the audience was introduced to the four judges of the show: Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul (former American Idol judges), Nicole Scherzinger (former Pussycat Doll), and LA Reid (grammy winning record executive responsible for Usher, Rihanna, and Justin Beiber!) With such a prestigious cast of judges, this show is sure to be bursting at the seams with talent! As they travel to four different US cities for auditions, they come in contact with life changing situations, and meet unforgettable contestants.

The audience was also allowed to participate in a Q & A session after the 90 minute episode premiere! Here are some of our favorite questions, followed by answers from the judges!

Q: How much choreography will you be doing opposed to the choreographer on the show?
Paula Abdul: Several choreographers will be rotating in and out but I’m going to be very hands on and do my thing, because I do what I do! I think it’s going to make Cowell wish he never hired me in the first place! I’m very good at what I do, and I love to do it!

Q: Simon, do you agree?

Simon Cowell: I hate to admit it, but yes, Paula is very good at what she does–but she’s not as good as me!

Q: How are the American audiences compared to British audiences?

Simon Cowell: Americans have amazingly good musical knowledge. They know when a contestant is good and they are on it. They are very tough on us at t imes when we didn’t like somebody. I thought there were moments we would get mauled when they didn’t agree with us. The American audience is tougher than the British audience!

Q: Is there a contestant that has really blown you away?

LA Reid: A few have really blown me away. Several have really touched me.

Nicole Scherzinger: Absolutely. I think you know within seconds whether or not someone has “it” or that X Factor.

Q: Between the judges, were there any major arguments over contestants?

Simon Cowell: I’m going to let you in on a show secret. When certain girls came to the competition they were known as DOA (dead on arrival.) Nicole was christened ‘Silvester’ from Silvester the Cat and Paula was ‘Tom’ from Tom and Jerry. L.A. and I had to fight to keep the attractive girls on the show, because ‘Silvester and Tom’ didn’t want them there. True story: most of the arguments came from that!

Q: What does it feel like to change someone’s life?

Paula Abdul: It’s an overwhelming feeling. It’s a blessing to see and feel what other’s feel in that moment. You can’t take it for granted.

If you are in England before October 3rd, pop over to Buckingham Palace. There you can check out Kate’s wedding dress which is on display to raise money for her and Prince William’s Wedding Charity Fund. They estimated that the dress exhibit will raise about 13 million dollars. Over 350,000 people have already visited the palace since the display opened on July 23. The funds raised will go to their Wedding Charity Fund and to restore the Royal Collections. Apparently owning castles can get pricey. Lets face it, our big restorations include getting a new shower curtain.

Pattinson’s style is that awesome rough & tumble, kinda looks like he just rolled out of bed, but still looks great. You know the one that takes us normal folks hours of trying on clothes at thrift stores and finally coming up with the perfect find! A lot of thrift stores actually donate profits to charities. Simon Cowell Wants to be Frozen When He Dies

Everyone’s favorite judge is back! Simon Cowell gears up for the debut of his newest singing reality show The X Factor by sitting down with GQ Magazine for their September issue!

Despite the show’s premiere just short of a month away, it’s Simon’s peculiar habits that have us scratching our heads. In the issue out now, Simon tells the men’s mag about his weekly routine: getting an intravenous drip of vitamins! The British mogul explains that he undergoes this procedure (a mixture of B12, magnesium, vitamin C) even during meetings:

“Even when I’m having a viewing session with producers. She just sticks a needle in me and we carry on doing whatever we’re doing. When you have it done, it’s an incredibly warm feeling. You feel all the vitamins going through you. It’s indescribable but very calming, and then it gives you energy for a good few days afterwards.”

The procedure itself was recommended by one of his very good friends and ex-UK X Factor judge Dannii Minogue. Cowell’s been spreading the work and insists that everyone he’s recommended it to loves it!

“It sounds odd, but when you have it, it is fantastic.… One girl came down and actually had two orgasms during the treatment.”

If you haven’t gotten enough of your Simon fix, don’t worry he plans to stay around for a long time. He wants to be frozen when he dies. He feels it’s an “insurance policy” and that if he doesn’t at least give it a try he “could regret this in 300 years time.” Wonder if he’ll still be a judge on The X Factor in the year 2311?

Nicole opened up about the opportunity to work alongside former American Idol judges and often-times sparring partners Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, telling Marie Claire Magazine:

“I’m the luckiest person to get a front-row ticket to the Simon and Paula show. This whole thing has felt like a roller-coaster ride.”

Fans may not know, but the judging gig isn’t her first trip down the reality TV lane. Back in 2001, she won a musical competition of her own on Popstars and she even won the coveted mirror ball trophy on Dancing With The Stars. She’s using this newfound opportunity to help and mentor the contestants and “pay it forward, since I got my start on reality show.”

Besides judging X-Factor, Nicole is amping up for the release of her new solo album Killer Love. She calls the album her “dream” and everything that she’s been working for her whole life! Back in May, she released the video for her song “Right There” featuring 50 Cent. It’s nice to see that her dreams are falling into place!

New show, same Simon Cowell!

The highly-anticipated new reality show singing competition has realeased it’s first preview, and from what we can tell, it will absolutely bring the drama!

But in true Simon fashion, he manages to have a little bit of fun too.

The sneak peek starts off with a nice(er) Simon, but don’t worry, he hasn’t changed — and we love him for that!

Despite the back and forth drama of British X Factor judge Cheryl Cole joining in, we finally get to see a sneak peek of the new judges, record exec LA Reid, former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and the legendary Paula Abdul.

British Pop Star Cheryl Cole Officially Joins ‘X-Factor’ Judge’s Panel

After several months of speculation, it has been announced that British sensation Cheryl Cole will be heading over the pond to judge the US version of The X-Factor.

The 27-year-old beauty, who has judged the UK version of the show as well, was confirmed to be at the judge’s table with Simon Cowell and legendary music producer LA Reid by FOX.

The network released a statement saying:

British pop superstar Cheryl Cole will join Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Simon Cowell as a judge on THE X FACTOR, the highly anticipated singing competition series debuting this fall on FOX. Cole, who has sat alongside Cowell as a judge on the U.K. version of “The X Factor” for three years, is a multi-platinum selling solo artist and a member of Girls Aloud, one of the U.K.’s most successful female vocal groups of all time. Cole will join Cowell, Reid and an additional judge (to be announced) as they travel to THE X FACTOR audition cities searching for the next global superstar or breakout music group.

There is still much speculation as to the fourth judge’s seat, with some saying Simon’s American Idol cohort Paula Abdul will nab the coveted position.

Also, insiders are saying that former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and High School Musical star Corbin Bleu are in talks to co-host the FOX singing competition show, which will debut this fall.
